Thanks @Zack. We'd love to see the durability test on regular Pixel 8 as well.
Excluding the iPhone, more and more phones are surviving. I never saw a phone survive ur tests before 2023. Are u getting weaker or.... Phones are getting stronger?
This really has me wondering. Are you switching?
no code?
Fun fact: In your Pixel 7 Pro teardown, you saw a blue O-Ring for the USB C port and said "Google should make their whole phone this colour next time around". Fast forward a year, and here you are, durability testing a pixel in that exact blue colour you mentioned before.
Lol that's true. In the teardown video her says it at 7:32 😏
and they fixed the frame as well 😅
That's an amazing color indeed!
They really do watch his videos lol

As a suggestion, you should add drop tests to your durability tests. It might be useful.
Probably more relevant for iPhone users

Just a heads up, the thermometer does work on humans, but Google needs to get FDA clearance as usage as a potential diagnostic device could turn the unit into a medical device. As I understand, they're going through the clearance process right now, so hopefully we'll have an update on a couple months with a setting for people
How can smart watches measures hearteate and spo2 ... Does this smart watches have FDA clearence ? I don't think so ... Google could able to make thermometer to test on human body by write caution like "Not for medical purpose "
@@vcscharan6112Which is exactly what they write when you activate it.
What do you think would happen if they have this warning and someone uses it for a fever and dies.
@@vcscharan6112The watches do, indeed, have FDA clearance. The Pixel Watch design was handled by FitBit, which is now a Google/Alphabet subsidiary. They've been dealing with FDA-cleared devices for a long while. And Apple's smartwatches have that clearance, too. There was a big fuss in tech media about their ECG functionality a few years ago when it first came out and the FDA asked Apple to disable it until it passes their certification tests.
@@vcscharan6112Smart watches don't offer all of their capabilities in the US because they're required to have FDA approval for several functions. Samsung Galaxy Watches can check blood pressure in Asia, but cannot in the USA.
Yeah, I think I still prefer an SD card slot.
This is the only channel I watch for phone reviews. Thanks for all your content! Would definitely want to see the Pixel 8 review as well as I think I'll either grab the PRO or the regular.
I would love to see a durability test and a tear down on the regular Pixel 8.

he does that later
Don't be so wasteful

Yes please!
A durability test of the normal Pixel 8 would be nice. I hope ist pretty much the same because I consider buying it.
I've got the pixel8, went from the 7a because of a broken screen.
Form factor is better, better battery, smoother display (might not notice it though), recommending without a doubt if coming from anything other than the pixel 7.
I'll suggest you to save some extra bucks and go for the pro version cuz u will get a lot more features like the cloud processing n all that techy stuff that google showed in there showcase
Yass
Just ordered mine, hope it holds up as well!
@@ThePixel1983I got my pixel 8 pro. It's not bad but I'm strongly considering returning it. Realized my pixel 6 holds up pretty well and honestly other than the build, the 8 pro feels very similar. From all the new features, at most I'm using the call screening. I haven't really used anything else
1:42 the legendary scratches at a level 6 with deeper groves at level 7 😶🔥🔥
Congrats for the video. I would also like to see the durability test and the tear down for te pixel 8 too .Thank you 🤟💪👍
Pixel has definitely improved since the pixel 4, that’s good. Good job Google.
Did you see how easily the rockers came out
@@Null94 they won't come out themselves, and I actually think it could be a benefit. With them being so easily removeable imagine the customizability these volume and power buttons give us
@@quintiax Before the boring rockers, google had accent colors for the rockers on some of the very old pixels. Probably making them easily removable for people who couldn't get over them on the current ones😂
The pixel 5 was a step down from the 4
I like Google. But pixel phones can't charge fast. The 🔋 doesn't last very long.
2:12 the moment everyone set the volume to zero but continue to hear it
Great details like always and yes we would love to see Pixel 8 tear down also.
Great review it look like people are more interested in durability test more than it's performance. Highly appreciated your efforts

I totally thought the phone would snap clean in half when it started creaking. Glad that it eventually passed. 😁
but that creak tho... 🤨

I don't know why but I started laughing really hard when I head it creak like that 😂😂.. Never thought I would hear a sound like that from a phone. But atleast it did much better than iPhone 15 pro max.

SD Card slots really needs a comeback because for a long lasting experience, storage also super important😁
Thanks for all the great videos! Love the tear downs!!😂
0:39 They said 7 years of USE Zack, not 7 years of ABUSE.

I'd Rather had Headphone Jack and SD Card Slot
Headphones Jack and SD Card slot is a dead technology in flagship phones.
The jack adds weight and could lower IP ratings, plus it occupies space used for other things.
The ad card slot slows down the storage speed, that's why they are going with fast SSD technology.
@MrXhandsome SD Cards are Used in Handheld Consoles for Loading and Playing Games same with Samsung Phone (which have SD Card Slot)
SD Cards have Read Speeds upto 200MB/s and upto 90MB/s of Write Speed Enough for 4K Recording in Phones and GoPro, Insta360 Action Camera.
Headphone Jack is still Relevant in Music, Film Industry and for majority of time when You lose Headphone Jack You Lose FM Radio (which is Useful in Condition of Natural Calamity and when Internet is not available)
Headphone Jack has DAC and Hi-Res Lossless Audio Files Transfer support with no latency which Bluetooth could never had
These two things are Still Relevant + They are no Burden in IP Ratings of Phones Examples Sony Xperia Phones, Samsung Galaxy S5 (with Removable Battery too)
If the Brand wants they can do anything but they don't Provide SD Card Slots and Headphone Jacks for Selling 100-250$ of TWS and Cloud Storage Subscription which should be an option not forced.
@@adityapathak2046 makes sense. I think you are right. All they want is to sell the online services.
@@P_double_H ASUS ROG Phone 7 would like to have a word with you regarding the headphone jack. I'm sure they could add it with no problems if they really wanted to.
@@lordsilver14 right, not sure why these phone manufacturers are having a war against the headphone jack... maybe there is big money from Bluetooth headset companies on the table.
Interesting take.... Thank you for your tests
I'm picking up my Pixel 8 today, so it would be great to see how it survives your tests. My main concern with phones is the screen shattering when it's dropped, so I'd love to see some impact tests!
use a 360 case
I once walked out of a phone store with my brand new phone. 2 steps out the door, I dropped it on the concrete.
@@TexasCat99😭 Did it survive? My P8 is home now, but still in the box while I wait for the case and screen protector to arrive. I'm not taking any chances haha
@@jemdoeslife Well, that phone dropped was before the days of smartphones... So it's plastic body scratches... Maybe it's plastic screen too. I don't remember. Miss those days, we're dropping. Your phone was an annoyance.
I remember throwing a Nokia 3210 as far as I could into the bush in the middle of a break up convo. I then realised I was using my mates phone not mine. So I instantly had to go walk into the thick Aussie bush which was fairly overgrown at this time of year, found it in bits, clipped it back together and it was literally fine. This is an extreme and I got lucky. But regular use and dropping your phone in normal situations wasn't even a thought. I'd drop mine daily lol

Good vid bud! Thanks!
It would be cool to see the regular Pixel 8 durability test as thats probably what most people would get and to see if it has the same build quality as the larger one
I actually switched to a pixel 7 pro partly due to it kind of surviving your test. I would have bet that the 8 pro would have had the same issues... I'm happily surprised! I won't be upgrading anytime soon but it's good to know that Google is improving. Even if it is slowly.
I definitely want to see the regular Pixel 8 so I can justify (or regret) my purchase after it's too late to do anything about it, as is my custom. Thanks for the excellent videos!
Oh my word this video is so goated😂 the sly jokes are hilarious
For sure would love to see a durability test of the regular Pixel 8, that's the one I went with. Hoping that it would prove to be just as resilient as the Pro model.

You should do some ASMR videos. You have a perfect voice! You say everything so clearly too, and great job explaining everything with all your videos! Keep up the great work!
One more for the regular P8 test, please!
I have both fond and painful memories of the Nexus 6P. Was a very nice phone and I loved the dual front-firing speakers, but then I got the fun battery issues where the phone would just shut down at 30% for no reason. Cheers for the callback. Hoping my Pixel 8 Pro is up to the task once I get it.
Still have my 6p :) , i keep it as a memento , it is still in pristine condition ( i hide it from Zac :) ) apart from having a deceased battery , it will fire up however if i plug it into the charger , the 6p actually did not take a bad happy snap , and had the most perfect finger print placement of any phone i have ever used to this day , RIP 6p ! .
Considering to buy the regular pixel 8, would love to see it in your hands first!
Same. I'm never buying a phone without watching Zack put it through its paces first.
Interesting. I'm watching this video from my 5 years old Pixel 3XL. I am the third owner and besides a small fracture in one corner of the back panel, everything works just fine. Surely they've worked the equipment survivability after 5 generations.
Jerry you should make these tests with mid-range phones too like the Galaxy A54, I'd love to see that ❤

Would like to see you test the regular Pixel 8 too, just to see the differences.
Would probably be even better since at a lower length the hand torque is lower
Just got it after my pixel 3 FINALLY bricked and I'm so happy to see I made the right choice! I have seen reports of the camera glass shattering easily, so I plan to protect it but it would be good to see some impact/drop tests!
@4:53 Have you tried to test the hardness of the glass in front of the camera lens? and see if you can create any scratches on it?
"And today we inflict seven years worth of abuse"

Yay, my favorites content on RUclips "Jerry scratch everything"
Hi there! It has come to my attention that under-screen fingerprint scanners might fail to work reliably after installing a screen protector. Would be an awesome thing to test how phones like the pixel behave in that case (instead of/in addition to scratches over the scanner). Also: Yes, a test of the regular Pixel 8 would be super interesting for me as well. Thanks for your efforts!
I don't think that is an issue even with cheap phones let alone Googles one.
@@RexDC It can be if it's poorly installed
@@justsomeguy5470 Unless there's a literal air gap, I doubt it.

Zack I'm a big fan of your videos. Can you start doing durability tests on some more midrange phones like the Honor 90 please sir. Much love from the UK 🇬🇧
Fun fact...I'm not buying a new phone anytime soon. I just enjoy watching these videos 😂
You should also do small drop tests. Instead of unreasonable 2m drop tests which will destroy most phones, multiple drops from 30cm or 50cm would be nice, just to see if it can survive a small oopsie, it felt from my bed when I threw it (you know what I mean).
During 7 years, this would definitely happen (obviously not as often as burning the screen with a flame torch, keep doing this useful test !)
agreed, phone bending accidents are much less common, even with half of the force used in test, while dropping is main reason for screen/back panel replacements
What are you trying to imply with "You know what I mean"?
Or from waist height , my pixel 7 has fallen a few times from my pocket and it’s fine
