Yes finally flat display in the pro….. extremely convenient to use
True
Switched to the 22plus from the 21 ultra because I didn't like the curved display. I am currently looking for an upgrade, so the flat display is nice to see.
Absolutely. Hate that Samsung popularized it. Glad manufacturers are starting to steer away from it, and hopefully it continues.

Sorry but definitely not, Pixel now looks like every other Android phone , 7 pro looks more premium and there is no way the pixel is worth the same as Iphone.
Hardware and looks are mediocre at best.
Personally I was excited for new Pixel 8/8 pro but now utterly disappointed
@@Generic_RUclips_Username_ not hard to look more premium than a phone who's overall design hasn't changed much in like 6-7 years aside from tweaking the position of the cameras just enough so that your old case won't work on your new phone. Still the same flat-sided "rectangle with rounded corners" they sued about trying to protect the design of over a decade ago... As if any other shape for a PHONE would make any sense? No, phones have only been the same general shape since landline phones started being made out of plastic how many decades ago... But we're Apple, we "innovated" that design. Just don't look at the shape of all the iPods that came before it, and it's "innovative"...
Always been a Pixel fan since Pixel 2 mainly because of their pure Andriod software experience. Google has really stepped up this year the Pro looks gorgeous, flat screen, matt back, 2400 nits screen, AI features are amazing, Pre ordered black cant wait.
I would go for the smaller Pixel 8 if it had more of the Pro's features. It would be nice if manufacturers catered more to those of us that dont want huge phones in out pockets.
I agree 100 percent I went pro for the features but wanted the size of the non pro. They should offer the Pro in two sizes the only thing you would have to give up is a little battery size but it would be smaller and lighter.
That's what I'm saying! Put the 5x camera on the regular pixel and give it the pro camera features and it would be perfect for me.
Google used to up until the Pixel 4. But then caved to Apple and Samsung.😢
I agree, but it's hard to get those features into the smaller device
Right 😂
Honestly this blue Pixel 8 Pro's colour look so much better than iPhone 15 and 15 Pro's blue. This year Google wins the colour category hands down 🏆 Let's see how well it performs in other categories.
💙💙💙
The iPhone 15 pros blue is definitely nicer and more premium looking.
@@Francis_J0nesmy guy you can barely even tell it's blue. This is blue
Pixel also wins in personalised experience, Software experience and customisation.

They went hard this year! 2,400 nits screen 1-120 hz display, they upgraded all the cameras on the pro, the matte finish is so nice. 7 years of support.
ah gosh 7 years, this pixel is THE MOSST VALUEEEEEEE FOR MONEY EVER AHHHH is the 7 year also for pixel 8 (non pro?)
@@yashrajsrgm Yes, the 7 years are for both pro and non-pro
@@Gianluca2400 gosh, that's a total steal. But i wonder if pixel's hardware is ready enough to handle the wears and tears for 7 years, but some people like me will get even more juice out of the phone, there was a moment when i used my j7 for frickin 8 years! Lol. So I wonder if pixel is strong enough.

@@yoavzehavi8793 Would love to know more about your camera experience on S23 😄
Yep got older and can't carry around a brick which is why I held my pixel 5 hoping for Google to make a smaller form factor that wasn't bereft of all its features. Fail! Moving on iPhone 15 Pro
Yeah me too, i using p3 & love the size because can use for one handed
Pixel 8 looks awesome with that compact design.
Like the Pixel 5 reborn.
Miss that resin texture, but I'll take it. Sick of tablet sized phones.
And I'm happy to sacrifice one of the cameras to have the AI features in my pockets

even with the 100 increase, the upgrades and 7 year updates makes it worth it, but that smaller compact pixel 8 i feel is going to be a hit
Exactly why my eyes have been on standard pixel 8 for a couple months now and with a 120hz screen on top of that... best value in a pixel yet incoming!
But the base model doesn't get the on board bard processing, pro camera control, or video boost/video night sight
@@AssassinsFear thats why they have the pro model
@@AssassinsFearno problem, I have a 9 to 5 job so I don't care about that, but hey! 7 years is HUUUUGE!

For the first time in a long time I went non-pro for my phone and picked the 8, the iPhone 13 Pro Max that I had for 2 years was too big for my liking. I've wanted something I could one hand for about 18 months now, so can't wait for it to get here.
Same except I had the regular 13 Pro not max, switching cause iOS is just not as convenient for me. Also the camera is unreliable as compared to Pixel.
The opposite for me. For the first time ever, I'm planning on getting the Pro model
This phone just isn't for me, but that's because I'm into mobile games and not tiktok blogging

I don't know about you, Lou, but I'm def more interested in the smaller Pixel 8. And that hazel color looks great - might finally buy a _non-black_ phone.
Ditto
That size is perfect & color looks sweet can't go wrong 🎉
Really mastered the art of speaking a lot without saying anything in this video...
Although the Pixel 8 design took a subtle change in appearance, it's looks drastically more appealing to me! I especially love that Pixel stuck with the "Hazel" color (it's my favorite 😍).
I’ve just ordered the iPhone 15 pro max but seeing the google 8 pro in my favourite blue colour looks absolutely gorgeous, Never owned a pixel phone but I am now giving it some serious thought.
I definitely love the standard, non-pro version the best. I love that compact size.
I just wish it came in blue. I'm thinking of picking the big one for the first time in my life just because I want that color
i agree i was gonna order it but the only 128GB and 256GB options killed it for me so am gonna skip Pixel now
Pixel 8 giving 7 years update is freakin' amazing
You will change it in 3 years anyway due to battery degradation and scratches all over the screen
@@cdtapeits still good to see 7 years of os upgrades
Apple has been doing that for a long time
They know nobody is going to keep their phones that long.
@@cdtapenah just slap a case and hopefully battery will be good
My lady and I went with the Pixel 8 non Pro.
Display is fantastic, battery life is legit all day, even with 120hz enabled. Camera has been pumping out some of the best shots I have ever taken with a phone. Highly recommended especially for people looking to upgrade from a 2-3 year old phone. She switched from an Iphone 12 and says shes not going back to Apple its that good.
The camera software is really the only thing amazing about the Pixel, having owned a couple of Pixels. They didn't disappoint this year
I would say the speech recognition on the Pixels is second to none.
Just preordered, it looks sick, and i like my pixel 4 5g, but after less than 3 years, my pixel is dying
Apple is Apple on one side.
But Google is way better than Samsung, and Others Androids on one side
@@josephdonohue3115I have a 4a5G on Android 14 and it seems slower using almost the total amount of its ram! 😢😂😂😂
Thank you Lew for mentioning the tabletop wobble!! One of the reasons I use Pixel is the overall symmetrical design. The camera bump on other phones is ridiculous with them being in the corner.
You got already and I’m searching everywhere, bro
I'd personaly go with the smaller one, I had a large phone and when I switched down to a smaller frame phone it felt so much better in the pocket, taking it out and holding for long sessions, Idk maybe i'm just growing away from Bigger Screen is better.
nice to see you back to a more mainstream more desirable type of video! keep up with the grind! i really dont think you guys deserve the downfall! still wondering what happened with Lew Later, the podcast was amazing i miss it
Agree to your thought that the vanilla model size and colour option does look fantastic
Went with 8 and 256 gb. Mad as hell the cameras are lacking compared to the 8 Pro. This is where the Iphone 15 Pro wins with having the Pro and Pro Max.
I agree. I prefer the smaller form but the cameras are too different. I usually end up doing with the 15 pro. It’s smaller and offers better cameras.
I think they said the pro max has better cameras than the pro this year
How did the 15 Pro win if it doesn't even have the same telephoto camera as the 15 Pro Max? lol
Definitely need to pickup the Pixel 8 in Hazel! Looks amazing.
The AI feature drops are incredible. The Video Boost & improved G3 chip is what I'm looking forward to most
My only issue with the feature drops is Google is completely unaware that countries other than USA exist at all. compare that with iPhone, it even has better features in some regards (apple wallet is far more feature rich being able to store even house keys) and I literally know iPhone users from at least 10 different countries, and n every continent and never have I encountered them being unable to use a feature that's advertised anywhere
@@TjPhysicist Apple has been in the game much longer than Google.
Pixel 8 looks so good, neat and oh so portable !
Tuning in immediately here after the actual keynote. ⚡👌
The only thing that really interests me with the phone is the software and the cameras. And I can't wait to see the full reviews of that.
That Hazel Pixel 8 🔥🔥
I would go for the 8 because of the size.
I have the pixel 7 and love the small form factor of it and that the main thing missing from it compared to the 7 pro is the zoom lens which is not really a big deal for me. I really think google played a trick here with giving more features to the 8 pro that could've also been on the base 8. This makes me really lost between the two options :(
It’s made me angry, because they’ve clearly locked certain software features - it’s sly.
It’d be understandable if it were hardware based.
Love your Pixel reviews! Keep up the great work!
I'm all into these amazing AI features, going all in on the 8 Pro.
I absolutely love good camera on a phone. I’ll probabaly go with pixel 8 tho. I don’t like big phones and that satin finish has my heart.
Looks interesting but after my Pixel 7 experience and overheating issues using it for work I switched to an S23 Plus and I've never been happier with a phone. I'll probably give this one a shot when they go on sale.
My pixel 7 heats up too! I hope they fix it on the 8
Same, also no signal or data. Sold it and upgraded to Oppo X5 pro, miles better.
I have 6, and one day it randomly started to overheat + accelerated battery drain
That bay blue colour looks amazing. I'm very happy with my Pixel 7 pro, makes sense to keep it for another 2 years when software updates run out
The Hazel matches your shirt. 😅
7 years of updates is amazing. Currently still using my 5 years old pixel 3xl. The only reasen to update is the lack of software support.
I think I'm settled on the Pro with the display size, coming from my three-year-old OnePlus 8 Pro. The bigger display is great for my intention of loading a load of shows and films onto the thing for content consumption when I'm on the go or out of data/Wi-Fi connectivity. I don't use cameras all that much, but I think I'll try and get out more for some photography with the new 8 Pro. Plus, seven years of software/security? Insane. Worth the extra cash for the Pro, in my opinion.
Same current phone and same switch 😅
@@Darknight0p Omg these people. Complains when the support is 3 years max and now that its a whopping 7 years still complain. Are you people clowns? Also its not just a security update. its "OS upgrades, Security updates, feature Drops, & AI Innovations" as what they said at the keynote
@@Darknight0p That's great if you only keep a phone for 3 years max, but obviously everyone is different. Nothing wrong if people want to keep a phone for 5, 6, or 7 years. That's one of the main reason's people buy apple products, for the long term software support of devices. Obviously that strategy has worked great for them, it's smart for Google to follow, especially on $1000 phones.
@@Darknight0p Dont generalize all of us based on ur opinion just cause you have luxury to throw and buy a new one every year or two just for easily getting "fed up"
@@Darknight0p No. its cause everyone agrees that longer support is a must.
i would go for the Pro mostly because i am finding myself getting into more videography or photography side of things
I'm glad they went a bit smaller in the size that's slightly closer to the pixel 3, 4 and 5. The 6 and 7 were just slightly too big. 👍🏻 definitely more interesting in getting the 8. Still have the pixel 3 and was really debating buying a used pixel 5.
I'm still using the pixel 5 and while the 8 looks tempting, the much more symmetrical bezels on the 5 are just something I can't give up. It still works great thanks too.
The other thing that might keep me away is: I got my sister the 7 and she had too many problems with the fingerprint reader so she still uses a gesture lock. The 8 having the same reader is worrisome.
I'm also still using the pixel 5 after 3 years and it's still runs great. I had doubts about the last two and didn't feel the need to upgrade.. But I finally bit the bullet and pre ordered the 8 pro after managing to get 400$ off retail through a pre order promo.
I usually go for the smaer of the two but the pro features look good, so hopefully the size isn't an issue for me!
@@richboiii17 how is it? is the size too annoying? I'm thinking to upgrade the 5 as well but like the size and lightness of it
Just bought the Pixel 8 after 15 years of iPhone use. Looking forward to using vanilla Android! Better not disappoint me, Google 😅
Honestly Lew, you always have the best unboxings and physical reviews on RUclips!
Way better angles than even mkbhd
I had the Pixel 7 pro, but had to get rid of it due to charging problems, there seemed to be alot of people having the same charging problems on their forums as I was experiencing, great phone apart from thst issue. I went back to Samsung 23+ and have had 0 problems.
Nice Scoop! Exactly the video I was looking for. Simple and informative 👍🏽👍🏽thanks Lew and team
I wish manufacturers would stop with the whole pro thing and just make a small phone with the pro features with the cheaper price point it would just be a win-win for everybody because most people want a smaller phone to begin with because you're carrying it around all day and size does matter
Realll, I think I'll have to go smaller from my 6 to the 8. I so badly want the pro this time around because of the camera, but my hand can't take something bigger than what I already have 😭
@@analiesegold4830same I usually just go with the Standard one due to size
All I give a damn about phone these days does it run stock Android, does it have decent build quality, Does it have decent spec so it'll last a couple years, is it a good size for portability, and is it under $700 if it meets all those criterias for me I'll buy it. I just bought a standard one on sale during the Black Friday specials on Google's website and so far it's been great what do I like most about it? It's smaller and lighter than the pixel 6 which is All I really notice about the phone everything else is just a bunch of marketing mumbo jumbo phones are just super boring these days
You failed to mention that there was a limit for the coupon code. Talk about false advertising.
I would switch back to android specifically Google pixel in a heartbeat, but with my iPhone is a lot easier to use like FaceTime and stuff like that! I guess you can still get Google duo for your iPhone but still! Google pixels are the best.
No more curved display. Nice!
I can see the slight pressure from the camera resting on the tip of your finger hurting over time
Fantastic work as usual, keep it up
Love from Sydney Australia ❤
its design is simple but look so modern , colors are pretty cool as well 👍
Google needs to build top notch quality laptops too. Like how apple products have culture of laptops, phones, watches. Similar to that culture google needs to build it. I would love to buy that set from Google.
Doesn't seem like too much of a step up from the Pixel 7 tbh, but I'm def feeling the matte finish on the 8 pro!
same thing i said when I had my Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 7 didn't have anything extra worth need/use. I have the FOLD now and I can't go back to one screen
P
Not much on the outside but ALOT from the inside
I would say, the software has much more to offer and much more interesting as well.
7 years of os update in 8 series
As a small phone lover and frequent one hander, I cannot wait to try the Pixel 8!
P.S. Lewis' voice is panned strongly at the left side, when the video is played stereo...
$999 for 128GB on the Pro? 👎
It's 56 bucks more to double it. Not really that big a deal.
In Germany it's 200€ more for the 8 pro compared to the 7 pro. Deal-breaker for me

What about the bands Pixel 8 Pro has? Can it be used all around the world? Previous model didn't support all of them.
Would love to hear if Google upgraded the fingerprint sensor to a ultrasonic? And I would rock the gray Pixel. The blue is tight though.
Trash coverage from all the tech RUclipsr and Google. Nothing on the fingerprint scanner and battery. Just crap about the camera and ai.
They have not 🚫

Yes! hopefully next year
Apparently the fingerprint sensor is the same as last year, but the front camera face ID has had an upgrade that's now accepted for in-app security verification. It's got the face-ID upgrade on the Pro model, but not sure about the standard model. Need confirmation.
I LOVE the hazel color on the regular 8. I ended up getting it with the discounted pixel watch.
My wife had nothing but problems when I got her the Google Pixel 6 Pro. I figured that it was just a one off faulty device so I decided to snag a Pixel 7 Pro when my upgrade came along and I've had nothing but problems with this one too. There's no chance I'd ever get either variation of the Pixel 8. 😂

Hey I miss you Escobar phone review.
I love how they put the thermometer sensor on the pro so that we can measure the iPhone 15's temp with the heating issue going on 😂
Ironic joke giving the Pixel 7 Pro's known overheating.
Pixel will burst in flames first that's if you can even unlock it because it has the same crappy fingerprint sensor, Although I wouldn't worry too much about that because it will also have the same crappy battery 😂
Had trouble hearing you at times because of the (unnecessary) music.
Bought the 8 because of the size; price of the Pro was not a deterrent. Thanks for the discount offer, should be fun!
I just ordered a 8 pro 256. I'm trading in a 6 256. I want the bigger screen. Sometimes I feel the 6.4 inch screen on the normal 6 at a 20:9 aspect ratio is a little cramped. A 6.2 inch screen with a 20:9 will feel very cramped.. Manufactures need to bring back the 18.5:9 or 18:9 aspect ratio like the LG V35 or Pixel 2 XL.
I ordered the 8 Pro. I'm getting excited for it! I've had an iPhone for the last 3 years, and it's been a good phone, but it was never quite enough to keep me from wanting to go back to Android.
Wow..😮
