S24 Ultra take way better pictures, why? The basic slide button in the automatic camera, that make a huge difference and Pro-mode, you can kill every phone with that mode. 98% of the comparisons are in automatic mode...when you buy a car with supercharger is because you are going to used or you are going to desconet it because most of the cars don't have it??? The sane with the Ultra.
I have 20 years working for HP, dept if image quality abd I'm going to say something, the best quality photos from 7"x4" to poster 4'x3' is Samsung phones since the Galaxy S5.
The difference between a camera and the phone in the photos and poster categories is 0, the most popular in the public, turist, is the photos 7"x4", the average range to look a picture is 1.5 to 2 seconds, posters is 1.5 to 2.3 seconds, the average distance to looks a picture is 1.5' of distance to 2' and no one can zooming because is physical, poster is 3' to 6' of distance and the for looking is almost the same, the radio of the focus is like a quarter. 25cents.
Cameras are good in all categories but the big differences are in big street crosse, big wall posters and need photoshop.
Soooo...if have good eye with a cellphone camera you can make a lot of money.
Wich is the best phone camera, Samsung.

Thanks for doing this video. I currently am switching back and forth between both of these devices, and I listed my S24 Ultra for sale. I can't seem to quit the P8P. It's the overall experience that brings me back. Effortless camera that takes the highest level of photos, monthly feature drops, call screening, and basically all of the AI features on the S24 Ultra. Super bright display, and all the integration with the Pixel Buds Pro and my Pixel watch, it's just the smartest Android phone IMO. I also love the Pixel aesthetic, in both the phone hardware and the font/wallpapers and widgets.

With no Pixel 8/8 Pro stocks with the carriers, their new line up formal announcement in a few hours, and an ever enticing S24 Ultra. It's a scrambled brain right now. Add to that the Sony Xperia I vi, and I have lost half of whatever hair was there on my head.....

I would say the 8 pro is the better value being $300 less than the s24 ultra. Plus I'm not a fan of the Ultra models being so heavy and boxy. You give up a little power from the 8 gen 3 and the Tensor g3, but in real world use, you still get a very smooth experience on Pixels. Also, if you catch big sales from Google, you get much better trade in values for your old phones. If you get the regular 8 too you'll get an even better value for way less than either the 8 pro or s24 ultra.

I own Pixel 8 Pro, Samsung S24 Ultra and Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max. I agree with you that the S24 Ultra is the one to beat, it has many features very similar to the Pixel but the software is more refined and better suited for daily tasks. Pixel lacks the little items that you find ready to use in the Samsung. The big point for me is that the finger sensor on Pixel is not so reliable as the Samsung and the face recognition it is good but way behind of the one of the iPhone (the island is not there for nothing..). My ranking is S24, iPhone and the Pixel. Then the ecosystem is always an issue but using all the Google apps this makes Android phones more integrated with Apple ecosystem. Better not to compare battery life because you can't do a day outside with the Pixel without the anxiety of going to zero

I've yet to kill my 8 Pro's battery in a single day, I can comfortably get around 6 hours of SoT by the end of the day (around midnight). Clearly it can be better when you have the likes of the S24U with the SD8 Gen. 3 managing quite a bit more. With the 9 Pro later this year and the Tensor G4 not being the big upgrade initially planned (G5 now is), it will be interesting to see how much more battery efficient if any that phone and chip will be. I'll still be first in line to grab one though being a huge Pixel fan especially if the leaked renters of the design are true.

I'm hesitant to go for the Pixel 8 pro, on one primary basis. My exisiting phone, a 4XL, has gone totally DEAD - A BRICK - suddenly. Purchased in Nov 2019, (actually two of them - 1 for my son), Google made an offer for a Extended warranty for a battery replacement about 1.5 years ago. Mine was draining very quickly, so took advantage of the program, with a new battery installed at no cost to me. My son delayed, and did not pursue that and had to get a new Phone (Pixel 7 at a sale price on E-Bay) . My Pixel 4XL suddenly went totally dead - No charging, no turning on, DEAD. Now at local repair shop , who checked it out, and "thinks" it is a new Battery and Charging port which will be installed as soon as he gets it. The phone was not dropped, or cracked in any manner. Because of this I am hesitant to buy a new Pixel 8 Pro.. I will say, that this was great review. But like many other reviews, there is far too much emphasis on the Camera operations. There should much more emphasis on the opertion as a Phone and a personal Computer (which it is).

I plugged my sim card back into my P8P after having pulled it out of my 24+...I just kept thinking about how the modem on the Pixel is not as good as the Samsung. It flips from LTE to 5G constantly, whereas, the Samsung seems to stay locked into a 5G signal better. Plus signal strength seems better in the Samsung. So I went back to the 24+...I feel better now...I would remind folks that TO ME, it's a phone primarily, not a camera, although they are great cameras, you communicate more with it via calls and texting or emails etc, but pics are not as frequent, I believe....

I may end up switching to the Xperia 1vi or pro 2, the 120fps video on all sensors is awesome, I had the 1ii and it with the autofocus 20fps burst and shutter button made shots more candid like a real camera. Been looking at Google Pixels for the past year or so now. I upgraded from the Galaxy S10 Plus to the Galaxy S23 Ultra, and it's been nice so far. However, I found myself interested in the Pixel simply because of the price difference between the two. Plus, it basically does all the same things except for wireless charging (until recently, I guess). So, a year into having the GS23U, I'm heavily considering the Pixel for my next phone simply because it's cheaper, has similar features, has some of its own features that Galaxy doesn't have, and I want to try something new since I've had Galaxy phones since the Galaxy S4.

Only one physical sim is a really important omission if you travel!! Many apps like Google send you messages asking you to confirm if it is you, banking apps constantly send you 2-factor security codes if you use your card, and all to your main registered number. So you need to keep your main number active when abroad, which means that's your physical Sim slot used up as not all UK carriers use eSims yet. Then anyone who has bought an eSim for abroad knows that the eSim set-up process is not always reliable (with no refunds), that it can involve 20 or 30 steps to set it up properly so no stick it in and off you go, that support for eSims is non-existent and it is more expensive than picking up a physical Sim. Phones with the capability for 2 physical Sims plus eSims have got it right. That excludes Pixels.

The other two are great options too tho. Keeping my second SIM card in the s24U.

I have both again. Had the P8 Pro, sold it, bought the S24 Ultra, sold it, bought the P8 Pro and last week bought the S24 Ultra a second time again. Now I'm switching all the time and keep them until autumn :) Without the titanium and and the new fantastic display I would get rid of the S24 Ultra. The Pixel is still much more fun to hold in hands and use.

I've had my first ever pixel for a week now, the Pro 8. This is after literally decades with Samsung. I can't stress how downtrodden I was with how bad the pictures looked! They were bland, dark and dare I say slightly blurry! After days or research, thinking I got a dud phone, I've slowly come to realize I've been so used to Samsung's overly bright, saturated and sharp images. And these don't really reflect the real world. Plus I'm turning 50 and my eyes aren't what they used to be so bright, saturated and sharp was what I thought I needed. Now I have to reeducate myself that the right pictures are the ones that are more real to life, the more natural looking. Oh and being from Gen X (best generation ever) yeah what use is the photo emoji. Lastly, I too keep pressing the volume button instead of the power button. Thank you for your video and opinions! (P.S. I hate that we can't get rid of the day/date widget in the upper left corner, so I just use a second menu as my main home screen since it doesn't appear there.) Cheers!

Having used android phones since they were first introduced, and using Samsung since the S6, I didn't think anything would've swayed me away.
However, I currently have the s23 ultra. It uses One UI 6. I can safely say it has more bugs than the jungle.
I'm no technophobe, I know a great deal about the functionality to expect from android versions and particular hardwares realistically, then additional tweaks you can make to personalise and get the best out of a device, but One UI 6 is an absolute catastrophe.
I'm not certain which battery they're using in this, but I'm lucky if I get 8 hours before sweating to find the nearest charger. With the original purchase i could push 10 hours out if it. So in a short time, it's ability to store energy has depleted drastically.
I've been in contact regularly with Samsung about the issues I'm having. They get acknowledged, but nothing is ever done.
I was due to renew and the cost if tge equivalent 24 range was high and after my s23 ultra experience, I wasn't going to go through that again.
I like a lot of the ideas behind google phones, but never owned one. Sure, I've had a quick play around in a store or on a friend's device, but not enough for me to truly experience it.
So, in approximately 48hrs I will be the owner of a Pixel 8 Pro. Not everyone embraces change, but I'm all for it.
I'm not interested in iOS as after having the freedom and flexibility of android and the play store, plus numerous open source apps and software, iPhones in any form aren't suitable for me.
Sure, the idea of switching to any different brand is a little anxiety triggering, but like with anything new we start out a bit wobbly and once we've gathered momentum, it's like an old friend.
I get devices that suit my requirements, not as a status symbol.
If you hold the opinion that one brand or device model is inferior to the one you have, or another brand is inferior to the brand you endorse then you should really be questioning yourself and yiur whole outlook on life as to why you're judging others on their particular device or brand of choice. You are not them and thank goodness they're not you.

I tried to swap to S24U from iPhone, having had one since day dot I have 45K plus photos on it, messages I don’t want to loose and moving to Samsung for some was easy but photos not. Everything got jumbled, albums lost - made the transition really difficult. BUT mostly found the Samsung bloatware awful when I wanted to use google photos, but lose the AI, Google Pay instead of Samsung, as well as backup, google passwords etc. found Samsung really made it challenging to use googles over theirs but some you can’t anyway. So I’ve ordered the Pixel 8 Pro so I can use true google without fighting with a device or constantly trying to avoid Samsung over google apps and backups etc.
Maybe I’m too much of an early user but found using a friends googles experience and eco system far more appealing and easy to migrate too. TIP, if you go on iCloud and request it, within 3 days Apple will send all your content like photos and videos to Google Photos for you and you sit back and do nothing! (Just need to test if they move the albums too).

I mean, I bought the S24 Plus and the unit they shipped me is fundamentally broken. It constantly restarts, about 15-20 times a day for no apparent reason. I contacted Samsung support and guess what the first thing told me to do... Restart it?!! Wtf.
Then they tell me to factory reset it as if I'm an idiot and haven't already tried that multiple times before even reaching out. Didn't work. Then, they tell me that it just must be a third-party app and that was basically their final response. I told them that doesn't make sense I've had ALL of the same apps on ALL of my previous phones and this has never been an issue before.
After that, they were completely useless. I just returned the phone and I'm officially done with Samsung. Considering the other Android manufacturers are so unreliable, I'm considering switching to iPhone because Samsung has always been my go-to. It's just so frustrating. Android phones always have some sort of glaring issue that ruins the experience and they wonder why Apple is crushing them in sales.
