I looked at millions of reviews because I'm undecided between the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the Pixel 8 Pro. This is definitely the best review ever made and what I was exactly looking for, even if I'm more undecided than before 🌠
haha thanks for the kind words! I just wanted to show what it was like using this phone in a real world travel scenario and all the different kinds of shots and conditions you can encounter. I think it provides a much better sense of the capabilities vs just a standard type of review
Really one of the best Pixel 8 Pro reviews for photographers ever, hats off ! I share your view and usually I do prefer carrying my Pixel 8 Pro together with my GR IIIx to backpacking my full frame gear now...
Your intro was awesome! I am planning on using my P8P only on our upcoming trip to London and leaving my Canon and lenses at home. Makes me a little nervous, but your video makes me feel better about my decision
This is a very informative as well as entertaining vlog, Alex. Thank you! I learned a lot about the Pixel 8 Pro. Appreciated your photography tips. Your fan and subscriber from Sydney, Australia
The pictures look awesome 😮. You're really talented as a photographer and I love the tips you gave in-between. Did you get the december update with the video boost feature yet? Would love to see what you can do with it and what your opinion is about it in general.
19:12 - of course it's underrated... everyone else is just praising the "other" ones, lol. Personally, I absolutely love shooting with my pixels. They're just exactly what I need from a camera-phone :) I absolutely love using the manual controls to shoot long-exposure pictures and "light paint" even though they're limited to 16 seconds :D Awesome video, btw! as usual
thanks for watching and offering your insight! yeah i'm just surprised not more people are talking about the 50px raws in all 3 cameras...I know most people probably don't shoot 50mp for the file size and capture/processing delay, but the ability is there and it works really well
@@azvisuals Oh, Alex! Google just rolled out an update to Pixel Camera Services (v.1.3.58) that's supposed to make for a better experience on 3rd party apps... maybe that helps or even solves the issues you had with this
Hi mate. I'm shooting with the Pixel 8 pro for a couple of weeks now. I shoot semi professionally on Fuji and Sony Mirrorless and almost always carry one of them with me. So since I got this phone I'm getting some very good shots. So much so that for Socials the shots out of phone are more than good enough to leave my pro cameras at home. Obviously the pro cameras are better but I'm happy with the dynamic range and details, speed from standby to shooting etc. I am very impressed with the zoom lens. It's way better than I expected and I even find landscape shots with the zoom give lovely compression and plenty of detail what with the stabilisation etc. So I am very impressed indeed. I'm looking forward to having a go with some astro photography with it. I've seen some awesome looking astro shots from some you tubers. I am into wild camping and adventure photography and it means I can leave my heavier cameras at home now. And it's more water resistant than my pro cameras. I've been impressed with the high bit rate video also and the audio recording quality. It's a bit of a technical marvel really. Can't believe it performs as well as it does for a mobile phone.
Great video, I've decided to upgrade to the 8 Pro from my 7 Pro, your video helped a lot. I do plan to get the 256GB model and keep it much longer. Thanks!
Oh nice! I think it's a worthy upgrade if cameras are important to you. And of course the slight changes in build like the flat screen makes a difference in the day to day
I recently upgraded (about 1 month ago) from the Pixel 6 to the Pixel 8 Pro. So far I have been mostly impressed with the camera. It certainly isn't perfect yet, but it suits my needs quite well. I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of camera features/upgrades we will see with future feature drops.
I upgraded from a 3a XL to the 8 Pro, it's an insane difference! Its so much heavier lol, the 3a feels like a feather when I pick it up now. This is my third Pixel, I hope they never stop making them.
Thanks Alex, great video and very informative. Im looking to either buy the S23U or the P8P (£80 more). What device would you say is better for video and photography overall. Also, what device would you pick in general. Thanks.
That's a tough choice! I don't think you can go wrong with either tbh. Would you take advantage of the built in s pen? That is a major advantage if you do! And if you have other smart devices in each ecosystem
@@azvisuals Thanks for the response. Currently I have no devices in either ecosystem and it's unlikely I would use the S pen. I have also seen many people suggest the Honor Magic 5 Pro. Have you had a chance to test the photography and videography on that.

Great video Alex. I currently have the P8P and love it. I normally just use auto move when trying to capture images. After watching this I think I'll use the Pro mode a little more. I definitely like the vlog style of the video.
Thanks for watching! Auto mode def is perfect for 80-90% of shooting. But that last 10% can be critical and having full controls make all the difference

I'm still trying to see if the P8P is better than the S22U. I have hade great photos over the last two years with the S22U. And the S22U has better photos than the i15
Excellent review! I love shooting RAW on my 8Pro, but I am undecided if 50mp is really the best thing to use given the file sizes and sensor size. Not sure if there is a clear advantage to using that mode, especially if I just want to post on, say IG. I am really impressed by the video though. Curious, did you turn on the HDR video shooting mode? 4K 30 HDR looks really good on this phone.
50mp def isn't for every single shot, esp with the capture/processing delays. But for those special moments where you know you want to crop or do post processing and print, it is invaluable! and yeah in daylight the video does look really good, but its still not consistent when it comes to low light. not even dark yet, just a tad lower light and things start to fall apart quickly
@@azvisuals I brought my 8 Pro to a local vintage car event a few weeks back and it was amazing using the 50MP for still shots, but my favorite shots were the simulated panning shots I could take with the regular 12MP and their "action mode" turned on.

Great video Alex. Quick question. Is the shutter speed quick on the Pixel 8 Pro? And how would you compare it to a Galaxy or iPhone? In the video it looked like it handled pretty good. Just wondering your perspective on it.
Very timely and well done video as my Fuji x100f that I used on recent trips has malfunction and has been sent in for repair. While I have a pixel 6 that has provided some good snapshots, I am thinking of replacing the x100f with a Pixel 8 Pro it shoots raw and has pro controls. Especially now that the price has been reduced. But first I have to ask if you shot in raw or Jpeg?
aint that the old YG entertainment building @5:39 ?? edit: I'm done with the video now. Thank you so much for making this in depth video. I started photography this year with film and realized my s10e is a bit out dated and absolutely blows in low light. This gives me soo much perspective on the capabilities of the pixel 8 pro as I shop for a new phone with having a good camera system in mind.
Thank you for the in depth camera review of Pixel 8 Pro. I am on the fence of whether I should get Iphone 15 pro max or P8P. I am using Pixel 6A and I love its mobile photography.
To me, a jump from android to ios is hard, as is for many who have stayed with apple for years. So I would stick with android but that is just my own bias. If you enjoy the apple ecosystem it may be worth it to switch, since the new iphones produce incredible photos and videos too!
I loved the video, the way to compare JPG vs Raw files, very complete and very well explained, by chance don't you have a 50mp raw file to share so I can review it? I am seriously thinking about switching to this Pixel because I really like mobile photography (I am currently with iPhone 14 pro) when it first came out the Proraw files were fine but after updating to IOS 17 the files have a lot of noise reduction especially in the shadows and that leaves the file quite washed out and it bothers me a lot
Hi Alex. I just moved from apple to this Google phone precisely because I want to focus more on smartphone photography. My apple was just an old SE. I agree with your comments about the better look of the RAW files. I like to shoot with the 2x zoom (50mm equivalent) and the processing of the jpegs becomes really obvious there - because the image is a crop from the main camera, the RAW is only 12 MP but looks luscious and full of detail. The jpeg has been expanded to 48MP so as well as the over sharpening there is some AI extrapolation going on. Thanks for the video.
tbh I have been dailying the pixel so haven't had too much time to dive deeper into the changes of OneUI6. Samsung always has so many hidden features and changes it takes forever to get through everything! but I will def try it out and maybe make a quick overview/summary video
@azvisuals Hey! Thanks for replying man. I get you, plus you have your own work to do and all. Definitely whenever you can a short quick review of some sort would be good on changes oneui6 has done to s23u camera. Thank you for your efforts!
@@azvisuals I have been using the phone as my daily driver but I haven't got any chance to use the camera to be honest as I have been working a lot instead of going out. I did notice the 2x lens that digitally crops in to the main sensor being good and the camera assistant changes. The processing time or capture speed and all that has now been moved to the main camera settings which is such a good thing. I was trying to see if you could make a video as a professional and a reviewer to see what changes it went through to be honest. I am sorry im not much of a help in this, would've been if I was going outside and taking pictures haha. I have heard really good things about the oneui6 making good impact on camera changes though.
I guess mainly the comparison would be with the advanced intelligence option as well and combining it with the camera assistant features such as disable hdr etc to see how different the quality of pictures and shutter speed/shutter lag are.
Great work! Most informative and very helpful. One small question: at 18:21 you're having trouble reducing color noise in a P8P RAW file, using manual Luminance and Color sliders. Have you tried using Lightroom's Denoise AI? I am not at all sure if this would make a big difference, but I have found the new Lightroom Denoise AI quite effective in reducing color noise in my high-ISO Canon files.
I just upgraded my OnePlus 10 Pro (Which was great mobile photoshooter) to Pixel 8 Pro. I noticed the same things you talked about with my pixel device, and after i edited them with Lightroom Classic i got some amazing results. Can't compare it ofc to my Sony A7 II, but for mobile shooting it is indeed one of the best one's.
@@karimkitty1 For what I have tested so far , it's really great! Although I can see some issues with video shooting and editing but it's not bad overall, quality is insane!
really cool video! im surprised with the filmic look, it looks like the fujifilm style but from Pixel! and the pro controls really do make a difference...
Great walkaround video! Thanks for it! Since you used the S23U for long time, did you switch for this P8P or are you keeping both? And, as a father of a 7 months baby, is the P8P better than S23U with moving subjects in low light/indoor? S23U struggles a lot...I can barely catch my baby's face in focus. Using the Pro mode the ISO has to be put extremely high and the pics become super noisy.
As a father of 2 (4y & 4m) I totally approve that P8P is way better in moving subjects then the S23 & S24 Ultra (I used both & returned them) and now using the P8P especially with the unblur feature Pixels have! Give it a try..
Pixel 6 and 7 pro had amazing cameras the only complaint I had was that if the sun was extremely bright I felt that the pixel did worse . I think the pixel does good around the morning ,evening and at night when taking a photo but taking photos on the afternoon where the sun was really bright it did poorly in my opinion.
amazing review but i was wondering why not used the long exposure or a tion pan feature on the pixel you just have to swipe to the left..i think it would of helped with the blurred photos you were trying to capture..love my pixel 8 pro tho i enjoy the photos i can get out of it
Hi, would like to ask: what's your MP settings in your SK trip? (12MP/50MP) and are all shots taken JPEG or Raw (or switching depending on the situation)? Thank you
Hi! This is such a great review! I'm always a fan of Pixel's color science. I am using a Pixel Fold now. Have you tried Astrophotography on your Pixel? I think you will like it. 😊💯👌💙
0:20 and 0:31 did you take that photos with the google pixel or what camera did you use? i'd love to take that kind of vintage pictures, but i don't know much about cameras
I used to rock sony xperia phones all the time! Haven't tried their new releases though but yeah it's super tempting. Just really expensive to buy outright 😞
I wish you can do these type of pov video on all them flagship. Would love to see using phone like vivo x100 pro with like 3 distinct focal length and all optical zoom or the mi 14 pro or the up coming ultra
Hello everyone, could P8P owners tell me whether or not they hear a clicking noise when you hold the phone to your ear at the level of the lenses and you lightly shake the phone from left to right, from front to back or up and down... It sounds like a maracas sound and it's not too normal it seems...
Hello , I have the Google 6 pro at the moment but it has terrible noise reduction which removes all detail from the photographs ,does the pixel 8 pro produce finely detailed images , also the old ultrawide lens had low resolution and a terrible purple tinge to the corners of the shot , is the new lens improved . Yours Tony
I prefer the jpegs. Editing in LR takes ages and you end up losing the “google look” and colours. Also, if you are printing at 10x15, there is no need for raw - just make sure your framing is right.
The camera is good But P8P has heating issue (always warm with normal use& highly overheating while using camera or multitasking plus the aluminium side frame makes it uncomfortable to hold because its always hot!)
Upgraded from S23 Ultra to Pixel 8 Pro. I was ao angry because after a year they didn't implement the recording at 4K60f with camera switch lens during recording. If Pixel has near the half of S23U power, why they dind't implement it? Marketing? Now it's available on S24U and they don't differ a lot in computing power. I abandoned Samsung because of this and other issues I had, like huge rattling noise from the periscope 10x lens, while recording, it ruined all the video I shot. So, in the end, I'm very happy with the Pixel, for colors rendering, skin tone, details and wide fov in 0,5x. #teampixel
For artistic expression and showing the way I envisioned the shot in my mind! It doesn't need to be technically correct which is why having full control of the exposure triangle is such an advantage
Is using the 50MP really worth it? I tend to use it most of the time, but the problem is that the shutter takes WAY too long. I think the problem with 12MP is that it's too little for cropping.
Yeah it does have a delay but for things like landscapes and such its perfectly normal especially if you want to print or crop. I also use 50mp in street photograohy and while not ideal it could work if you time it right
@@joflame2143 No, the 12MP mode works close to flawlessly with top shot etc. after snapping multiple photos though, it may take a few seconds until you can snap a photo, as is the case with most smartphones.
1) Hi how is the still photos from pixel compare to I phone. I am planning to buy but still confused. I am looking for video and still photos. 2) How the still photo either in day and night from pixel compare to iPhone?
honestly the default settings are pretty good! but you can use the 50mp mode for landscapes and stuff you want high resolution shots with. and then of course the pro mode for finer control.
the processor is def not the fastest and you don't really notice until you are exporting a lot/larger files or trying to multitask with a lot of apps. but so far no over heating issues although it hasn't been too hot out. def gets warm but the camera hasn't shut off by itself
I am disappointed with the lens flare on the pixel 8 pro. When pics are taken at night with street lights or other lights present, pics become distorted even when the camera is not focused directly on the lights. Until that issue is resolved, it is not a top camera. Why didn't you address this issue in the video?
I sold my Pixel 8 pro because the processing done to the JPEGs are so extremly aggressive. At that time I just didnt think about shooting RAW. Maybe Ill look into it again... I really like the part with Lightroom. That video was so helpful. Please comment your PayPal link here.
@@karimkitty1 Thats very subjective. The phone is basically ok. But I didnt like the fingerprint scanner and the Faceunlock. If the light is not optimal, the phone change to fingerprint. And it so much worse then my Xiaomi. But many people seem to have no issues with it.
I loved the pixel 8 pro, I sadly returned it because I was disappointed in the front camera Performance, a lot of color shifting issues and very soft photos unless you’re in perfect lighting, the phone struggles a lot in low light conditions. I returned it to wait what the S24 Ultra has the offer.
Very interesting to hear your perspective! Tbh I rarely take front selfies so I'm not too critical of it. But I am also curious about the s24 and seeing what Samsung can do this year
My pixel 8 pro camera is problem.. When taking pictures with 50mpx..shutter really slow take a few second delay. If turn to 12mpx is working perfectly. How to fix this?
You can't fix this, look: When shooting with 12mp your phone combines 4 pixels to 1 for smaller files and better colours. But when you shoot with 50mp your phone has to process 4 times the amount of pixels, which is obviously way harder for your phone to do, so it will always be slower
5:44 wait!! isn't that "cool" building the YG building?? YG is home of the groups Big Bang and Black Pink, as well as many other great artists and Entertainers.

Yes I will try and upload some in the new few days and tag you when it is ready!

@@azvisuals Thank you so much my friend
Thanks for watching and appreciate your insight into this too!
the best video camera review of pixel 8 pro
Loved the video. Is there any thought going towards an update s23 ultra video after the oneui6 changes? :D just curious.
tbh I have been dailying the pixel so haven't had too much time to dive deeper into the changes of OneUI6.
Thank you for your efforts!
have you been using it? what are the major differences that you noticed?
What a well put intro. Well said. Amazing pictures and good review
I can't believe my eyes. good work. Please mention regular/edited in each picture, just to be sure. some pictures got me confused.
I REALLY LOVE THIS VIDEO KEEP DOING MORE BRO
appreciate it! making these videos are hard but I will keep trying to do my best
Can't compare it ofc to my Sony A7 II, but for mobile shooting it is indeed one of the best one's.
how do you compare the overall experience?
@@karimkitty1 For what I have tested so far , it's really great! Although I can see some issues with video shooting and editing but it's not bad overall, quality is insane!
really cool video! im surprised with the filmic look, it looks like the fujifilm style but from Pixel! and the pro controls really do make a difference...
totally agree! thanks for watching
One of my favorite phone camera reviewers. Thank you.
appreciate the support! thanks for watching
Can you specify your photo preset? It's a bit vintage, I liked it
Appreciate it! Preset system should be in the description
Thanks. You've convinced me to buy one.🎉
Realy cool vids👍🏼
I like the introduction
Appreciate it!
Would consider doing a comparison between it and the 6 pro?
Pixel 6 and 7 pro had amazing cameras the only complaint I had was that if the sun was extremely bright I felt that the pixel did worse . I think the pixel does good around the morning ,evening and at night when taking a photo but taking photos on the afternoon where the sun was really bright it did poorly in my opinion.
Did you use auto photography or Manual Pro setting on the camera when you took 56 photos of the couple sitting outside eating food?
Manual haha maybe auto would have been easier but I really wanted that motion blur
Should I go with pixel 8 pro or iphone 13 pro max ?
amazing review but i was wondering why not used the long exposure or a tion pan feature on the pixel you just have to swipe to the left..i think it would of helped with the blurred photos you were trying to capture..love my pixel 8 pro tho i enjoy the photos i can get out of it
Hi, would like to ask: what's your MP settings in your SK trip? (12MP/50MP) and are all shots taken JPEG or Raw (or switching depending on the situation)? Thank you
Watching this on pixel 8 pro 😊, and yes ,it is a great camera phone
Hi! This is such a great review! I'm always a fan of Pixel's color science. I am using a Pixel Fold now. Have you tried Astrophotography on your Pixel? I think you will like it. 😊💯👌💙
#TeamPixel
0:20 and 0:31 did you take that photos with the google pixel or what camera did you use? i'd love to take that kind of vintage pictures, but i don't know much about cameras
You'd definitely enjoy having the Xperia 1 V had you had the chance. Still, Pixels are excellent. I just hope they get better sensor next time.
Just get a Sony RX series compact camera 😉
@@marksouthwell2699 nah I'll go Xperia anytime.
I used to rock sony xperia phones all the time! Haven't tried their new releases though but yeah it's super tempting. Just really expensive to buy outright 😞
I wish you can do these type of pov video on all them flagship. Would love to see using phone like vivo x100 pro with like 3 distinct focal length and all optical zoom or the mi 14 pro or the up coming ultra
yeah I would love that! but I am still a small youtuber and testing devices are expensive but maybe some day it will be possible!
@@azvisuals keep grinding bro
Hello everyone, could P8P owners tell me whether or not they hear a clicking noise when you hold the phone to your ear at the level of the lenses and you lightly shake the phone from left to right, from front to back or up and down... It sounds like a maracas sound and it's not too normal it seems...
I’m watching a video from my Pixel 8 Pro) By the way, the video is excellent and quite atmospheric.
Fantastic review
Hello , I have the Google 6 pro at the moment but it has terrible noise reduction which removes all detail from the photographs ,does the pixel 8 pro produce finely detailed images , also the old ultrawide lens had low resolution and a terrible purple tinge to the corners of the shot , is the new lens improved . Yours Tony
Really nice video!
I prefer the jpegs. Editing in LR takes ages and you end up losing the “google look” and colours. Also, if you are printing at 10x15, there is no need for raw - just make sure your framing is right.
I like how your review intentionally tried to test the camera capability under harsh lighting conditions. 👍🏼👍🏼
Is this after the December update?
No this was before! There has been a lot of changes so I will have to do some more testing and may release an updated video about that
awesome video. keep it up.
anyone like me who think RAW look great without editing needed? It is what a real natural image should be
The camera is good
But P8P has heating issue (always warm with normal use& highly overheating while using camera or multitasking plus the aluminium side frame makes it uncomfortable to hold because its always hot!)
#teampixel
For photography pixel phones get on the top but in videography the iPhones win.
yeah I am blown away with the video coming from the iphone!
Why would you like the dark shadows to look even darker in the photos instead of properly exposing them? 6:16
I also use 50mp in street photograohy and while not ideal it could work if you time it right
I think about picking up the 8 Pro. One Question: Did you notice any Shutter lag in the 12mp mode?
@@joflame2143 No, the 12MP mode works close to flawlessly with top shot etc. after snapping multiple photos though, it may take a few seconds until you can snap a photo, as is the case with most smartphones.
@@RUclips.official Thank youu, I couldn't find any information about possible Shutter lag online. But that sounds good
Time to get a Mi 14 ultra?
5:47 That is YG building
Hi, In terms of video I phone or pixel which is good?
I think pixel still needs to improve their video capabilities while iPhone you can shoot log
Did you activate the Ultra HDR and P3 screen settings or not? Or how do you set it?
Please share your presets ❤
they are linked in the description, and I am also working on something special for the holidays so keep an eye out for that!
@@azvisuals 🤩🤩🤩

Thanks for the watch and appreciate the support!
Hello do you have gimbal?
Are you able to control the iris \ aperture settings manually.
no there is no settings for aperture as they are fixed on all lenses
1) Hi how is the still photos from pixel compare to I phone. I am planning to buy but still confused. I am looking for video and still photos.
2) How the still photo either in day and night from pixel compare to iPhone?
what kind of camera setting should i use?
honestly the default settings are pretty good! but you can use the 50mp mode for landscapes and stuff you want high resolution shots with. and then of course the pro mode for finer control.
Is there any heating or throttling issues?
the processor is def not the fastest and you don't really notice until you are exporting a lot/larger files or trying to multitask with a lot of apps. but so far no over heating issues although it hasn't been too hot out. def gets warm but the camera hasn't shut off by itself
@@azvisuals Thank You so much for responding. 🇮🇳
The raw image from the Pixel 7 pro is only 12mp the software does all the work. It is nice overall but still prefer a proper camera.
I am disappointed with the lens flare on the pixel 8 pro. When pics are taken at night with street lights or other lights present, pics become distorted even when the camera is not focused directly on the lights. Until that issue is resolved, it is not a top camera. Why didn't you address this issue in the video?
i fear, the CPU is the bottle leg and will limitate options to improve the software controlling the cameras action in video mode
I sold my Pixel 8 pro because the processing done to the JPEGs are so extremly aggressive. At that time I just didnt think about shooting RAW. Maybe Ill look into it again... I really like the part with Lightroom. That video was so helpful. Please comment your PayPal link here.
what about the aspects of the phone ? i am thinking of buying it
@@karimkitty1 Thats very subjective. The phone is basically ok. But I didnt like the fingerprint scanner and the Faceunlock. If the light is not optimal, the phone change to fingerprint. And it so much worse then my Xiaomi.
But many people seem to have no issues with it.
@@bastian.michel and the battery?
@@karimkitty1 I think between 6-7h SOT (60Hz)
@@bastian.michel thank you so much
I loved the pixel 8 pro, I sadly returned it because I was disappointed in the front camera
Performance, a lot of color shifting issues and very soft photos unless you’re in perfect lighting, the phone struggles a lot in low light conditions. I returned it to wait what the S24 Ultra has the offer.
Very interesting to hear your perspective! Tbh I rarely take front selfies so I'm not too critical of it. But I am also curious about the s24 and seeing what Samsung can do this year
Awesome
My pixel 8 pro camera is problem.. When taking pictures with 50mpx..shutter really slow take a few second delay. If turn to 12mpx is working perfectly. How to fix this?
You can't fix this, look:
When shooting with 12mp your phone combines 4 pixels to 1 for smaller files and better colours. But when you shoot with 50mp your phone has to process 4 times the amount of pixels, which is obviously way harder for your phone to do, so it will always be slower
I wish i had Pixel 8 Pro as my secondary phone as i have S23ultra.
Same , u23 ultra is garbage in camera department too overrated, so using 8 pro as primary now
what about the pixel camera@@VishnuPrasad-u5n
tell me why u only have 39k subs?
not there yet, but hopefully soon! i'm still new/small youtuber so still learning and trying out new things.
