Thanks for this video. I’m in the market for a new phone and have narrowed it down between the S24 Ultra or the Pixel 8 Pro. I’m leaning towards the Pixel 8 Pro because I like vanilla Android. I don’t think it’s boring at all.
I have both phones. I love using the Pixel 8 Pro. However, there's no comparing the Pixel 8 pro to the S24 Ultra. The Ultra is a true flagship with an all-day battery life. I wish the Pixel had the snapdragon 3 processor, which may help with the battery life. Also, I understand that the Pixel might be on sale. However, please don't forget about the countless deals that Samsung has in place for there the S24 lineup.
I went from iphone 13 pro max to pixel 8 pro. The format of the pixel it makes it feel lesser. Why isnt the phone as wide as the iphone or galaxy? Recently got the s24 ultra and it actually feels like an upgrade from the 13 pro max.

The reason i prefer pixel over iPhone or galaxy ultra is the value and performance with feature drop that made the phone just like new hardware launch.
Had to RMA my pixel 8 pro twice so I'm going to try out the S24 Ultra, currently $300 off. Love Pixels but having issues with two copies is a pretty bad look
I'm still on the p30 pro but no security updates etc and general wear I'm thinking of going to the p8p this week. Hope the camera (especially in low light) is at least on par with Huawei leica cameras 👍
I want the pixel 8 pro so bad, but the cases (especially the magsafe cases) are so BORING!! I'm clumsy and drop my phone all the time, so a case is a must have for me. That UAG Monarch Pro Kevlar just looks so dope on the s24 ultra...
Currently in Canada on the day of this comment, the Samsung S24 Ultra is on sale for $300 off, bringing the difference in price with the Pixel 8 pro to around $60. I wonder if this changes the value proposition?
I agree with everything you said. The only challenge for me to keep me away from the Google pixel is their headset speaker when you have a call it's too loud and has vibration ... all the previous pixels the same which is odd !
I started using a Google pixel 8 pro for the first time after using Samsung all my life and I'm beyond impressed. The AI is brilliant it's snappy and Im glad I chose the Pixel.I get a supers smart phone for under a thousand.Samsung s24 is an amazing but I guess it comes down to preference .you will be happy with either phones
Buying directly from Google also got me a fantastic trade in value from my iPhone 13 base model. $430. So $799 - $430 = $370 plus tax. Samsung was only going to give me $350
@mrgibbles09 I received a $250 discount and $100 credit for accessories on a free upgrade to the 512 GB storage s24+, and I didn't even trade in my phone 😭😭
I get what your saying as a pixel 6 pro owner. My issue is pixel 8 and 24 ultra are at the same price point since my carrier is offering $500 the S24 ultra and makes my choice on which one I want even harder..
I´m still using the Pixel 6 Pro since launch, and I´m pretty happy with it. If I would like to buy a new phone in 2024 I think I would get again a Pixel phone. Samsung is overpriced in my opinion. Also I don´t like the Samsung UI and that software updates takes longer to roll out. Google and stock android is a really great experience for me, especially for the very good price performance ratio.
I love pixel phones but I can have them because they have a huge problem with the signal connection, and the 8 pro is not an exception. Crossing fingers for next year's 😢

The pixel is a great device if you are based in the USA. Most of the Ai doesn't work in the rest of the world it's not worth £100 in the UK. Samsung Ai works in UK and Europe and most other countries. As you point out it's Google tec so how come pixel is so restricted outside of US ?
I really like this phone. I got the pixel 8 pro. I had the Galaxy s23. I like straight Google. I missed having straight Google every time the Samsung would update my Google stuff would disappear on the s23 I can tell it's not quite as fast but I really feel like the quality is here. I'm really liking the 8 pro and I can't wait for the nine pro to come out cuz it looks cool and I can't wait for the tents or five chip to come out
I read that the s23 series will get the ai features or a least most of them. The snapdragon 8 Gen 2 can handle AI. We should get the one ui 6.1 sometime in March.
I soured on Samsung for a lot of reasons. A couple of the main ones are their bloatware, crappy software and the (lack of) support for it. I simply wanted the best stock android experience I could find, so I opted for Pixel 8 Pro.
I have wanted to buy a pixel for a long time but im into smartwatches too so maybe this year if they release a bigger watch ill buy it. Or i may go back to iphone just because my family all use apple products, at least I have my samsung tablet so I can continue to do my android things if I switch
The pixel 8 pro versus s24 Plus makes more sense because they are more identical. Identical price and specs and pretty much everything else. The pixel 8 pro versus the 24 Ultra is a means of best of what Google has to offer versus the best of what Samsung has offer
Im turning 13 soon in 16 days and ill be getting a new phone and that new phone is definitely gonna be the google pixel 8 pro. Due to its reliability and also how well designed it is to be a close to a iPhone without straight up copying them. I currently own the 2015 6s iphone and it is trash i must tell you. So for sure ill be getting the Pixel 8 Pro, also is it just me or is he kinda winking and like twitching a bit when he blinks. Sorry im not trying to be judgemental Im just asking. Thank you so much man for giving me a deep down review for the two flagship phones 😊
Saying that the pixel 8 pro doesn't get hot is the biggest lie here, also the all day battery for the pixel 8 pro lol. Not true! everything else i agree they are both great devices I got the 8 pro and when i do intense tasks it gets pretty warm. A lot of the reasons why people think the s24 or s23 ultra is better is because samsung screens are plain gorgeous, there's no comparison there
@@fantasytky28 I didn't pay attention to that lol. No wonder he's misleading people here. The pixel 8 pro is a awesome device but it doesn't compare to Samsung flagship or iPhone 15pro. Those two are on different leagues, but the pixel handle itself pretty good if you ask me
@@usnightm4re it's easy, almost every time u see the video praising some specific device over another one, then the video mostly have the praised device affiliated link. See how the channel bash Samsung display and bug issue in one video (without affiliate link) Then later another video praising Samsung on patch update news like Samsung is the best (with affiliated link) It's just how it work, u have videos bashing how bad the batterylife and heat in pixel (not affiliated link), then later it praise pixel so much like heating does not exist at all (affiliated)
Now throw a third choice in, the OnePlus 12, and compare all three, please. I am stuck trying to decide which way to go, and I'm sure many other people are.
He doesn't want to do that because that phone tears both of these phones to shreds. It's basically a S24U without the S pen for the price of the Pixel 8 Pro
Samsung camera is just.. a tier below the competition on this generation, which shouldn't be the case at its $1400 price tag. I'd rather take the pixel and have 10 fps less on my games....
You sure. The Pixel has terrible zoom compared to Samsung and has horrible edge detection on portrait shots. Also, who's video is better? It's definitely samsung, lol.
You should make such videos for Oneplus 12 as well... I think Samsung and iPhones are overrated... Hope through your videos, you can educate people that the world is beyond Galaxy and iPhone...
So what's the avg sot time for a p8p?? I just got a p8p and the 2nd day battery life is HORRIBLE!! 5h sot at 36% 😱😱😱😱😱 I'll probably give it a month just to be fair, but my s23 ultra puts this P8P to shame on the battery. I get avg of 10-11h sot on my s23 ultra. If this p8p can't get at the very least 8h sot then that is a deal breaker (for me) I love the camera, love most of the aspects of the p8p, but the battery life is just unacceptable right now. How people can accept 6h sot as good as beyond me. That's NOT good by a long stretch. Moto edge plus 2023 10-11h sot, s23 ultra 10-11h sot, p8p 6h sot? 🤔🤔
Umm you just got a pro 8, it takes a few days for it to download everything which eats battery or you have something turned on like location or Bluetooth...
I play games all the time no issue I don't know about that only is I have is battery life is a little bad but everything else is great coming from fold 4
The problem for both of these phones is that the OnePlus 12 exists and it's 90% of the S24U for the price of the Pixel 8 Pro (oh and it lets you disable the stupid nav bar which Samsung and Google don't allow you to do without root)
I'll never understand why people love shitting on the Pixel. They're objectively great phones with smooth fluid software and great cameras. And I'm saying that as a certified Samsung knight. Like right now I'm watching this on my S24U. But for people who like a simpler UI you can't go wrong with a Pixel.
@@michaelhowse so sorry to hear that, man. Sending positive thoughts and prayers for you and your family. Much respect to your father as well for his service.
I didn't consider Samsung when deciding on my upgrade. It was between the Apple iPhone 15 Pro or the Google Pixel 8 Pro. The Pixel's 5x zoom won me over the 3x zoom on the iPhone 15 Pro. I might consider iPhone again in December 2025, depending on the features of the iPhone 17 Pro and the performance of the TSMC-made Tensor G5 in the Pixel 10 Pro. As for Samsung, I prefer to avoid its bloatware and duplication of apps that Google provides anyway.
You will still recomand P8 Pro if I don't live in US? Outside US a lot of Pixel features are not working. I use currently a Pixel 7 Pro and I have to tell you that a lot of Pixel exclusive features are not working if I am not living in America. Pixel 7 Pro is not that good, old hardware, battery drain, heating, poor signal. Of Pixel 8 Pro use the same hardware, I will think twice if I will buy again a phone and after that I will disable features because are draining the battery.
Have the battery last the entire day without worry, run multitasking all day without the phone stuttering and crapping out, zoom in on the wildlife I do everyday and have a decent shot. Need more?
I'm not sure what you mean by crapping out but I'm pretty sure I would know it if it happened to me. I have never had issues getting through a full day on single charge. Pictures have been outstanding. I'm not zooming in on wildlife everyday but I love the pictures I do take. Need more? Whatever.@@fraghead9813

Google's privacy invasion, sometimes abandoning Android at times, some selective political manipulation of search results, their anti-free speech stance, and government spying is really making me mad. Whenever I get a new Samsung phone, I either take it out or disable nearly every Google service or app I can. For a while, Samsung was using its partnership with Microsoft and creating apps to support this...
@TechOdyssey oh god, of course I know that, but google started the android project promising open source and working with everyone, then has locked it down further and further over time, forcing real competitors to shutdown.... Amazon phone could have taken lead on android development but Google killed off Amazon appstore. I used the original satellite phones, palm pilot, the palm phone precursor to apple iPhone, the first samsung phones... the more power google has got, the worse of a company it has become. And they tried kill off the tablet market and move everyone to a more locked down chromeos.
Huh? What invasion? Google has been moving towards improved privacy since Android 11. It's getting stricter by each update. Bonus points if you live in the EU.
Battery is very similar on both and the fingerprint sensor works fine. Additionally the facial recognition is more capable than on the S24 Ultra. Being a higher level of security you can actually use it with banking apps. Pixel is not behind
@@TechOdyssey I'll take that with a grain of salt. Just couldn't chance being burnt again after the P7 and reading tons of reviews of the P8P talking about those two issues and stating their just not up to snuff.

I want the pixel 8 pro so bad, but the cases (especially the magsafe cases) are so BORING!! I'm clumsy and drop my phone all the time, so a case is a must have for me. That UAG Monarch Pro Kevlar just looks so dope on the s24 ultra...
My wife and I traded our 11pro max iphones for s24 ultras. Super happy with the phone
Nice. Glad to hear you’re enjoying it.
I love your style sir. You are the best no nonsense reviewer with great information.
I appreciate that! Thanks a lot for the support.
Excellent points that 7 years seems awesome.
Glad you think so!
I like One UI but prefer Pixel for experience and camera quality. It still needs some tuning with the software with performance though
What's ur everyday driver? Candy bar or fold?
Always great videos. The P8 pro has been a joy to use. Battery could be a bit better but the phone is so smooth.
Great content. So is it really 500 difference, with the trade-in and free upgrade to 512 gigs of memory. So you actually save more than 500.
GOOGLE IS AI KING💯%FACT
It's pixels or nothing 💪
Google may be the king but the pixel is not 😂😂😂😂😂😂
@AziaVenom most of the AI features on the s24 r created by Google. Enjoy ur ai features till u will have to pay for them in 2025🤣🤣🤣
@@josephwilliams9434 that's what I'm saying 😂
Bro your bugging
Won't get better until they switch over to Qualcomm and TSMC
I've had Samsung phones in the past I've always wanted to try the pixel every since the pixel 4 so i started with the 7 pro ... i loved it i traded it in for the pixel 8 pro an i love this phone Best phone i ever had for sure... an bay blue is color of the year for sure.
The pixel is a great device if you are based in the USA. Most of the Ai doesn't work in the rest of the world it's not worth £100 in the UK. Samsung Ai works in UK and Europe and most other countries. As you point out it's Google tec so how come pixel is so restricted outside of US ?
Samsung and Google share the same servers?
I'm glad you made this video Adam.. All I hear on here is how the 8 Pro is garbage compared up the 24 Ultra.
And it’s not true. Gaming, ok. Multitasking, sure. Anything else nope. It’s very competitive.
Great review man, thank you
I really like this phone. I got the pixel 8 pro. I had the Galaxy s23. I like straight Google. I missed having straight Google every time the Samsung would update my Google stuff would disappear on the s23 I can tell it's not quite as fast but I really feel like the quality is here. I'm really liking the 8 pro and I can't wait for the nine pro to come out cuz it looks cool and I can't wait for the tents or five chip to come out
I bought the 6pro for the great 20x zoom ability for wildlife pictures. Does 7pro or 8pro offer even more zoom ability?
Will the AI features come on the S23 models or is it specifically for the S24 just wondering if it's worth an upgrade
I know the 23 ultra will get them later this year. Probably the 23 and plus as well but I can’t confirm
@@TechOdysseyis it true we will have to pay for the AI next year?
I read that the s23 series will get the ai features or a least most of them. The snapdragon 8 Gen 2 can handle AI. We should get the one ui 6.1 sometime in March.
Which one do you feel like has the easier to view display in the bright outdoors
Currently I think the pixel is more vibrant
S24 Ultra doesn't have the banking app unlock with face unlock big downside. That's why I went with the Pixel 8 Pro and I love my Pixel 8 Pro.
I soured on Samsung for a lot of reasons. A couple of the main ones are their bloatware, crappy software and the (lack of) support for it. I simply wanted the best stock android experience I could find, so I opted for Pixel 8 Pro.
Sold my S23 Ultra for Pixel 8 Pro and I love it. I had a Pixel 6 now it's even better ... ❤❤❤
Can you please compare the OnePlus 12 vs pixel 8 pro?
Eventually when I’m able
I'm all Pixel! They're just amazing phones!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lolz
This guy has grown on me......
You might need to see a doctor.
@@TechOdyssey lol
That's what she said.
Saying that the pixel 8 pro doesn't get hot is the biggest lie here, also the all day battery for the pixel 8 pro lol. Not true!
everything else i agree they are both great devices
I got the 8 pro and when i do intense tasks it gets pretty warm.
A lot of the reasons why people think the s24 or s23 ultra is better is because samsung screens are plain gorgeous, there's no comparison there
What do I expect? It's pixel turn for affiliated link in this video.
See how the channel bash Samsung display and bug issue in one video (without affiliate link)
Then later another video praising Samsung on patch update news like Samsung is the best (with affiliated link)
It's just how it work, u have videos bashing how bad the batterylife and heat in pixel (not affiliated link), then later it praise pixel so much like heating does not exist at all (affiliated)
Except mine doesn’t, and I also haven’t heard people complaining about it. Mine has been cool as a cucumber
Why do you care if there is an affiliate link on the video?
I have the pixel 8 pro but the battery could be a lot better with 5G on i can make it a whole day
Can't?
Now throw a third choice in, the OnePlus 12, and compare all three, please. I am stuck trying to decide which way to go, and I'm sure many other people are.
He doesn't want to do that because that phone tears both of these phones to shreds. It's basically a S24U without the S pen for the price of the Pixel 8 Pro
Come on man, get out of here with that BS. I just made a video about the OnePlus 12 and S24 Ultra 4 days ago.
Is it an S23 or a S24?
Techodyssey , off topic do you use any antivirus on your phone? If so which one? Thx
I do not.
My wife loves her Pixel 8 Pro, having replaced her Pixel 6.
That’s a great upgrade
Great video👍
Thanks 👍
Im a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra user and I would prefer the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, although I think both phones are amazing.
You should make such videos for Oneplus 12 as well... I think Samsung and iPhones are overrated... Hope through your videos, you can educate people that the world is beyond Galaxy and iPhone...
I did. I made a similar video with the OP12 4 days ago
I'm getting the pixel 6a to see if I can switch from Samsung A54. If I like it, I may get the 8pro.
7 years of updates that's why I chose 8 pro that's awesome 😊
Heard anything about iPhone 15 pro getting Ai stuff?
Not a peep
@@TechOdysseydamn Im hoping they will though
Edge+ 2022 has pen support....
So what's the avg sot time for a p8p??
I just got a p8p and the 2nd day battery life is HORRIBLE!! 5h sot at 36% 😱😱😱😱😱
I'll probably give it a month just to be fair, but my s23 ultra puts this P8P to shame on the battery.
I get avg of 10-11h sot on my s23 ultra.
If this p8p can't get at the very least 8h sot then that is a deal breaker (for me)
I love the camera, love most of the aspects of the p8p, but the battery life is just unacceptable right now.
I average about 7 1/2 hours SoT
Also this. Adaptive battery takes about a week to kick in and will improve battery life
True and factual as always. Thanks so much...
You’re very welcome
If the pixels processor is so great why can't it handle gaming on par with the ultra and 15 pro max
I play games all the time no issue I don't know about that only is I have is battery life is a little bad but everything else is great coming from fold 4
Samsung keeps adding to One UI...its better...but in 2025, Google os using TSG to manufacturer their custom chips. That's big.
The problem for both of these phones is that the OnePlus 12 exists and it's 90% of the S24U for the price of the Pixel 8 Pro (oh and it lets you disable the stupid nav bar which Samsung and Google don't allow you to do without root)
Pixel AI is so easy to use , fast and way ahead of samsung and apple.
Yup
S24 ultra any day want cheaper price then Google
I used nexus and pixels for a long time and had to return almost every one of them i hope the hardware is getting better. Seems like it might be
I'll never understand why people love shitting on the Pixel. They're objectively great phones with smooth fluid software and great cameras. And I'm saying that as a certified Samsung knight. Like right now I'm watching this on my S24U. But for people who like a simpler UI you can't go wrong with a Pixel.
I watch all your content. Anything related to pixel devices is only relevant in USA.
I'm wondering what the Pixel 9pro will be like? 🤔
Hopefully awesome
@@TechOdyssey Keep my family in prayer. We are burying my Dad, an old Navy Vet, tomorrow. He passed ten minutes before the Super Bowl started.
@@michaelhowse so sorry to hear that, man. Sending positive thoughts and prayers for you and your family. Much respect to your father as well for his service.
Does it really matter? At this point Google could sell an actual turd and get praise for it.
Yeah no
I didn't consider Samsung when deciding on my upgrade.
You can literally delete or disable all apps.
I think people shit on Google Pixel because of the big camera bar bulging out, the app display and the wallpapers
You be killing me who helps make pixel chips the pixel is better than the s24 ultra
Bring your pixel to Barcelona and your Samsung see which one has the best Ai experience
I don't live in Barcelona.
You got an attitude problem mr!
Thanks!
S24 ultra anyday all day. The pixel 8 pro is a flagship built phone with a midlevel processor. You really couldnt be more wrong.
What is it you want to do on the Pixel that you can't?
Have the battery last the entire day without worry, run multitasking all day without the phone stuttering and crapping out, zoom in on the wildlife I do everyday and have a decent shot. Need more?
I'm not sure what you mean by crapping out but I'm pretty sure I would know it if it happened to me. I have never had issues getting through a full day on single charge. Pictures have been outstanding. I'm not zooming in on wildlife everyday but I love the pictures I do take. Need more? Whatever.@@fraghead9813
It’s comical how misinformed you are
Guys, it won't kill you to admit that the Tensor is several steps behind Samsung's chip.
Closer 🙂
Na I think the closet is where it's trapped😅
Got the P8P but have to admit I’m curious about the OP12
I have the 12 (the emerald color with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage). Absolutely amazing phone especially for the $700 I got it for
Well samsung don't have their own AI or smartest AI yet yet! But remember this is really samsungs first go around at really pushing AI. I think they will really enhance on it soon and start standing on their own lol
Does anyone know if the Pixel 8 Pro Android Auto works? My 7 Pro AA stopped working after an update last year!
Works fine on my Renault - car is 4 years old & it works great!
I like google pixel 8 pro ❤
Great review
Thank you!
Pixel 8 pro vs OnePlus 12?🤔
This
OnePlus 12. TSMC >>>>>>>>>>> Samsung
Jokes on you. Android is made by Google.
I think you should compare the 8 pro with the S24+ as they are similarly sized and priced.
I will. But I'm only making one video at a time
Id love the P8P. But I needed battery life and a nice fingerprint scanner and Google is simply behind on that.
I just wish pixel would add an spen
