Around me everyone is either an Iphone person or a Samsung person. They don't even give other companies a chance which is such a shame. This video has so much truth in my view. I think the people who criticise the Pixel 8 Pro just recycle what they have heard someone else say. I loved the phone the day I got it and even though I had an odd random crashing bug I still persisted with it. After that December update that random crash seems to have gone. I am very happy with my phone in spite of the fact I did say I was not going to get a Pixel this year. No such thing as a perfect phone and the Pixel 8 pro is not perfect, however in my view it's pretty blumin brilliant.
The Tensor chip deserves to be criticized for its issues & flaws. While Pixel phones are definitely not the best for heavy gaming, heavy usage, they are perfectly fine for the vast majority of users. I don't know the MSRP in the USA but here in Canada the Pro lineup is about the same price as Samsung Galaxy S Plus. Google phones are also on sale half the year, something like 20 or 25% off.

I agree with your take on the Pixel 8 Pro. I've had good luck with it. I was normally a Samsung guy, but the S21 ultra had connectivity issues for my situation. I bought the pixel 7 pro then the 8 pro. I've had no connectivity problems at all.. Only one nitpic, I wish they charged faster, but with 7 years of service life, maybe that is the trade off. I'll never know. Thanks for your videos!!

A lot of people hate the pixel 8 just because its a pixel. My first pixel was the 3a and fell in love with the google pixel phones. My pixel 8 pro is awesome! I had an s23 ultra. On paper its a better phone. But for me the pixel has the best android experience. The bay color is so nice looking. I have carried an iphone and pixel over the last few years. I always prefer the pixel.
Before the December updates the phone was like a 2020 midrange in terms of perceptible performance. It feels like a regular flagship now. Very snappy so no complaints about the tensor. Runs cool, battery life is great. All round very solid phone.
Having tried every flagship Pixel, Samsung, and iPhone for the last four years, the Pixel 8 Pro is definitely my favorite. I never really cared for the Samsung cameras, the Pixels didn't feel as premium, and the iPhone's lack of side-loading has always bugged me. So I always had the iPhone as like my main phone, and I'd try out others because I wanted to go back to Android, but could never settle on one until the Pixel 8 Pro. Now they've finally got the premium feel with the new display, the best cameras, and no more locked-down filesystem.
I've seen those types of comments and I disagree. My experience so far with Pixel has been great. I used the Pixel 6a as a temporary phone after my previous one stopped working (carrier stopped supporting it). I didn't know what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised. After upgrading to the 8 Pro I am amazed at everything it does. I don't know much about benchmarks but scrolling in quick, the screen is visible in any condition, it is responsive (no lag), and the camera app is so fun to use. I get compliments all the time for my pictures and videos. Amazing phone at an amazing price. My guess is that a lot of criticism comes from either not liking the Pixel brand or being too nitpicky, similar to how an audiophile is never happy with any headphone because it doesn't "sound right".
I switched from the S23U to the P8P and very happy. I prefer the blazing fast UI, cameras, and audio of the Pixel, I could easily root it when custom roms will be available while with samsung it's a hassle and lose warranty. Battery wise it's very close to the s23u, charging time too
I got mine for Black Friday, 799 and got $315 back for my 7 Pro from Google. I got the Bay, LOVE this phone!!! I'm very happy with it. No lag, very smooth and the flat screen with the high nits is just awesome!!!!
Been absolutely loving my Pixel 8 Pro. I'm still a fan of Samsung phones. Honestly can't go wrong with either, but it's something about the Pixel experience that fits me better. No it's not the most powerful and that's the point, very efficient and very smart. Plus great pictures. It's an easy win in my book
Still have my Pixel 7 pro and love it, tensor 2 worked fine for me yeah it gets a little warm now and again but i never get any warnings or anything like sony phones used to. My daily is a Pixel fold and same thing it gets a little warm but it never really slows down on me or anything.
Have been using Pixel 8 pro for the last 12 days now and have to say I am impressed by its performance and smoothness, the best part is having the face unlock work for banking apps its a game changer. Only thing which I feel could have been better is the battery performance and fast charging mine is givving me approx 5.5hrs of SOT wish it was closer to 7 and better fast charging would have made this an absolute steal.
Hey. I got the pixel 8 pro yesterday. I setup the phone but it really heats up a lot and the battery charging also seems bad. The google photos take so much time to load, I downloaded the gallery app as well to check but the same thing happened again. And to edit pics it takes so much time and the phone heats up again. Do you also face the same issues?? I am just wondering if the phone would become better as we use for a week.
@@sadasiva574 yes give it about a week or so and it becomes butter... Even mine was heating up due to constant updates etc. It will settle down in a week or so and becomes terrific.
Life long Samsung user. Just got ride of my z fold 4, for a pixel 8pro. This pixel is 🔥I love the Ai features. Call screening and smart assistant is out of this world. I'm team google now 😂. And the camera bruh 😤🔥. I don't do much phone gaming. Keeping my eye on Google's future foldable. Just wasn't gonna jump on the 1st gen one
As a long time Samsung Galaxy Ultra user (was using S23 as my daily and really liked it) I was hesitant when I decided to pick up the pixel 8 Pro. I honestly figured I would just be throwing my money away because it couldn't possibly top the S23 Ultra. Now that I've had it for almost 2 months I can say I don't miss the Galaxy at all. The Pixel 8 Pro is smooth, refined, has excellent cameras and just works well overall. Definitely no regrets.
Same here besides i came from a samsung a52s 128gb storage 6gb ram and went with pixel 8 pro with 256gb storage and 12 gb ram. HUGE difference. Its like a ufo 🤣😂🤣
nah Samsung S23 Ultra is a fine phone. Still way better than the Pixel. Battery life is horrible on this thing it doesn't even last a full day. No thanks
@@tobesnwajagu4095 duh ofcourse, I use a xiaomi 13 ultra. I hate the software and the camera is not perfect but I like it. Voice to text is so good on the Pixels now that it actually changed how I use my phone at work. I send a lot of messages and emails and the voice to text has been fantastic. This Pixel is my workhorse now..... Some of my favorite Snapdragon SOC's have been made by Samsung
I am still using my P6P and really it has been a positive experience overall. I also use an iPhone daily (work phone). My tablet is a Samsung Tab S9. They are all great and none are perfect. Honestly in day to day use I do not have an issue with the performance of the Tensor chip. Could battery life be better? Yes but it typically gets me through the day and if not I can give it a quick top off on a wireless charger at my desk. I will probably be ready for an upgrade in 2024. I haven't decided yet but my next device will likely be a Pixel 9, S24U or maybe an iPhone 16PM. I am intrigued by the foldable devices but I am not yet sold on them for my use case. Plus they really need to get the prices in check. They are way too high still.
I primarily used Android phones since it first came out and used AOSP ROMs. I stopped using Samsung when the bloat got introduced and unlocking them became impossible.. I finally decided to give Samsung another try with the S23U which was surprisingly a good experience but last week i got a great deal on a Pixel 8 Pro for $500 so im just waiting on delivery. Thank you for this review because i know Pixel phones provide the best software experience and camera. Im looking forward to using it.
Great video, Adam. I'm still holding out on leaving the beta due to the cinematic wallpaper option as well as the ability to summarize articles option still missing. That'd be the only gripe I have. I know, though, that it's not the Pixel's fault.
The thing I like about the camera bar is it makes it easier for me to feel if my finger is over the lens or not when taking quick pictures , I used to have my finger in the way all the time on my old Samsung
I had a Pixel 6 that was, for the most part, a decent phone for me. I didn't have many of the complaints or issues that most had with the P6. I did however have a struggle with taking close up photos of smaller text that my 2XL was stellar at. That alone is what prompted me to trade in my P6 for the P8P. It has been leaps and bounds a better phone for me in all aspects and I don't regret the decision to do so. Could I have continued to use the P6? Sure, but not dealing with the inconvenience of having to take, and delete, a half of a dozen of out of focus pictures on the daily is enough to solidify I made the right choice moving to the P8P. A side note, I have noticed that I have not had a single bump from my cars Android Auto to my Galaxy Watch 4 during a call since moving to the P8P. That was a huge annoyance with the P6 that I hadn't fully committed to being a P6 bluetooth issue. Now I am pretty certain that is what was the cause.
I agree 100%! The phone is buttey smooth, easily 8-9H of sot on medium use and 5-6 on Very heavy use (2H of camera use, streaming lossless, lightroom etc). T3 works just fine, only slower on video rendering, but for everything it's perfect. Thr iphone gets actually warmer than the p8p when editing on lightroom and watching RUclips
The reason I personally am going to wait for the S24 Ultra instead is because most of the AI features that were advertised are region locked which insanely baffling to me. I don't understand why Google would do that especially since the software features is the biggest selling point of the phone.
Just ordered the 256GB Porcelain color. I was going to go with the Bay but since my last two phones were blue I wanted a change. Besides, it's going in a case cover so nobody will see the back color anyway. Was going to wait for the Samsung S24+, but I can use my Samsung Tablet 9+ for all my multimedia needs. The phone is just going to be for basic phone usage, not games or streaming apps really.
I think Google deserves enormous credit for really freshening up the whole mobile device scene with it's exciting Pixel devices. Okay, the Pixel 8 Pro may be unable to do it's AI magic on device due to it's chipset limitations, and it won't win any performance benchmark battle, but come on; That camera system is just fantastic and deserves it's accolades and more. It isn't a hardcore gamers phone for sure, but which flagship phone TRULY is?. I know that one day I will be tempted to go Pixel. As will so many others if Google keeps improving them generation upon generation as they are now.
I went to find a restaurant today and it gave me the option to have the assistant call the place for me. It worked great. This is the first time I had the option for that.
Like I said in my Pixel 8 pro rant video. Most people that are whining about the Pixel 8 Pro probably don't even own the phone, or they watched RUclipsrs that bashed this or that and they don't have a mind of their own so they just regurgitate what others say, or they used it at Best buy for 5 minutes and jumped on the bandwagon of hating this phone. No the Pixel ain't perfect but far, but it definitely don't deserve the hate it's getting.
I’m about to go from the 14 pro max to the pixel 8 pro. People keep calling me crazy for doing this, but I am having the same issues that you described, and I am not rooted into apples ecosystem.
After many months of reviews etc I finally ordered an 8 pro today. The deal through the Google store was too good to pass. And for switching over to Fi I’ll get an extra $350 in bill credits. Not to mention my monthly bill itself will also be going down $30/month from what it was with current carrier. And they offered me the second highest trade in value for my iPhone 13 of anyone else. Only Samsung was higher and not by much. Excited for it to arrive and to have pure android again. I have nothing against Samsung hardware wise but the bloat just kills it for me on the software end.
I don't honestly think there's as much hate around the Pixel 8 as many are inclined to think. It's been doing very well with Phone of the Year awards for 2023 and even the "..months later" reviews continue to be mostly positive.
Ive been back and forth on one hand i love my 6 pro but it did have some drawbacks, the heating the signal sometimes but i was used to it i wanted the PF but i felt like you tensor 3 should have been built in it thinking about s24 ultra or fold on the other hand i love pixel features
They put out a solid phone this year. I feel like all the advanced AI stuff is oversold but by in large the phone is cool. This phone would be sick with a better SOC/CPU
I love my P8 Pro and have had far less issues with previous pixels. Only issue that has irked me with this one is it did not get along with my Xfinity gateway which decides whether I should have 5ghz or 2.4ghz wifi. When it would switch, wifi would cutout entirely and I'd get dropped from my game. I've since forced the gateway to have permanently separated connections for the 5ghz and 2.4 and all my problems are solved. Didnt have this issue on my flip 5 or iphone 15 pro but for some reason the p8 pro did not like it.
@@TechOdyssey s23 ultra ( I've had since launch) .. I usually upgrade every year. I was honestly contemplating keeping this for two years which is a rarity for me , I love this phone however alot of the pixel 8 pros ai capabilities are enticing to me.
@TechOdyssey, thanks for your unbiased review as always. I honestly think we have a society of complainers now and the issue is that they are uneducated. Keep up the great work for 2024.👍🏾
Not Pixel related but curious if you have a ZTE nubia Z60 Ultra under embargo to be shown off next week. The phone released in China today but International release looks set for next week. I saw you had just reviewed the Red Magic 9 Pro so I wasn't sure if they would have sent you a Z60 Ultra too. Thanks.
I get that the tensor chip is not a powerhouse like Qualcomm and it is not indicative of performance. However it is still a weaker chip with a weaker modem than the s23 series that cost 1000 dollars for 128. If we are going to argue how Apple or Samsung are so expensive, we need to argue about the pixel too. I would agree if the cost from the start was 800. Then I would say it is the best value phone. And before someone say "I don't own the phone", please stop it. I have the phone and using it in my hand, along with my s23 plus.
You're arguing the sale price on the S23 Ultr compared to the MSRP of the Phe Pixel 8 Pro is $799 on sale right now, versus the $999 sale price of the S23 Ultra.
@@TechOdyssey the s23 ultra give you more for your money. S pen better battery better modem, better software and customization..256 vs 128. And a stronger CPU that could last 5 or 6 years.
I absolutely love my 8 pro. The OS has a look and feel of its own that makes it a pleasure to use. It is the iPhone of android with its smooth animations, excellent haptics, excellent speakers, excellent camera, excellent battery life and clean OS. I have had zero connectivity or performance issues. If you told me it had the Snapdragon Gen 3 I'd d be none the wiser. And oddly enough it is the temperature sensor that I use the most more so than any of the AI features. I use it to just to check room temperature if nothing else. Google seems to be doing their homework and incorporating the best of the iphone into their own phones and if they do the same with Samsung they will have a winning formula on their hands that will be hard to beat.
What I can certainly say is that my P8P runs out of charge quickly when I'm taking stills with the camera. I'm a pixel fan and have been using 4,6,7 and 8 generations extensively. I noticed that the last generation does last less than my P7P when it comes to camera usage (take 200-300 hundreds pictures a day, and you'll see that). Two phones are identical in terms of apps set and settings. The takeaway is it's okay to advocate and praise for P8P but the reality is different. The phone has its own advantages and shortcomings.
for me, this is my last pixel phone if they keep going on this trend of locking certain features in the US only. I live in Canada and there's no reason why the "summerize" article feature is locked and only usable in the united states. Not only that but I had to buy a 128 gb model (i wanted a white porcelain model) and even on their website they don't have bigger storage capaciy. I waited a month after release and still they wouldn't offer anything bigger. It's so frustrating. I love pixel phones but paying full price only to receive 75% of the features doesn't sit with me very well.
A big thing I had to deal with with my 7 pro was the volume button falling out every 3 months and having it replaced 4 times with the same scenario occurring, always after 3 months. Hopefully I don't see this happen with the 8 pro
I've been interested in the Pixel 8 pro. What turned me away is the watch! I don't like the Pixel watch design. I know I can buy a different watch but I'm weird I want the brands to match.
My problem is the antennae/modem. I have reception problems from time to time. The signal strength regularly runs over 100. Not good. It does everything I need but the one problem I have is phone calls or reception,
I moved to this phone a week ago and having issues. Phone gets hot and battery life is still middle ground for me. I don't use the AI features at all and I followed a stupid advice to set the camera to full resolution and it is super slow. The phone is still a great phone and the price makes it worths it 100%. Just very disappointed with the battery. I love the voice to text on this very much and that is it for me as a person who works a 9 to 5 I cant risk other opportunities using the Google Screen features. I actually went into animation and turned it to .5 because I hated how slow it felt. I do have an older S22U and iPhone 13 Pro Max as well. But I appreciate the phone for the price and it should still be recommended but the battery life is not as good as the others and the charging sucks compared to the others. The Face Unlocking is awesome.

@@edwinmac they are pretty similar. I have been giving the Pixel 8 Pro an over exaggerated run while I'm at work the last 2 days (camera, lightroom, Facebook reels, Instagram, RUclips and RUclips music most of the day) and I haven't been able to kill it. It's still sitting at 25% as I'm typing this and the phone is estimating that I'll last til 11:30 tomorrow morning (another 8 and a half hours), no battery saver, no dark mode like I used on the s22 ultra. It might actually be a good bit better....the Pixel 8 is definitely better than the s22 when they are both sleeping.
This phone is flawless except for one thing !! Battery life. Its not trash but its not good either. Everything else is super premium and super smooth. Can compete with any flagship! The software and cameras are what does it for me,! #teampixel
How is everyone's reception after the big update l'm waiting for my 8 pro to come in the mail upgrading from the pixel 6 pro. I remember my pixel six Pro had a lot of random drop connections when not on a phone call just browsing the web etc. it would lose connection
I have mixed feelings on the Pixel. Having owned both the 7pro and 8pro, i still think the phone is a little slow. The easiest example is when i open google photos ... It often comes up as a black box and i need to wait for it to load even though the photos are stored locally. And i use the phone hard so some times it does open/load things more slowly than other phones. Ended up selling the 8 pro in favor of something new (xiaomi 13 ultra) and this thing has no hiccups. But now i miss all the software such as being able to screenshot or select text when on the recents menu. And also the camera consistency, etc...what a bugger!
I currently have the full Samsung ecosystem including laptop. My s20 screen is going out and I need to get a new phone. I thought about waiting for the s24, but I can get the pixel 8 pro for around $530 with trade in of have another phone. Would you do that or wait for the s24 and keep the ecosystem the same?
Pixels will get better when the only have to give support to their phones with Tensor chips. They still have to go back and forth between Tensor and Snapdragon phones.
I love my Pixel 8 Pro it's great for photography plus all the AI features. It's the smartest smartphone at this time. I am looking forward to the S24 Ultra and what it brings to AI.
I've had it for a week. However it does get overheating often.. When using 5G is the worst. it warms up to circa 41 oC... Even with LTE you can feel it gets warm. Main issue I have with it. Also maximum brightness is not what they advert. At manual brightness it's still darker than my wife's Samsung A54. For half the price...

Only complaint for me so far is editing photos. It might be a bug or something but when editing in Google Photos, I'll make adjustments to my liking on let's say contrast or highlights. When I go back to then save the photo, the HDR or something snaps back on and the photo looks way different. It's hard to explain but I can't seem to figure out how to fix it.

@@pattiandersonII Verizon , that is true I did not have he option for 512
Who gets 512gb model as a temp phone?
@@jdsmith2k7 What's a temp phone? I keep my phone's till updates stop! I have a 6Pro 512.
I switched from the S23U to the P8P and very happy. I prefer the blazing fast UI, cameras, and audio of the Pixel, I could easily root it when custom roms will be available while with samsung it's a hassle and lose warranty. Battery wise it's very close to the s23u, charging time too
The repairs are better on pixel cost wise and ease. One of the reasons I might be switching to the pixel but ima wait for s24 release
I just ordered mine 256gb
Every phone heats up when you set it up the first time. It will get better with time.@@sadasiva574
@@sadasiva574 yes give it about a week or so and it becomes butter... Even mine was heating up due to constant updates etc. It will settle down in a week or so and becomes terrific.
@@sadasiva574how is it handling now
Life long Samsung user.
Pixels repairability is better compared to others as well. Love my s23 ultra but repairing it is not cheap
No thanks
Hows the battery life on your device vs S23 Ultra, I have Pixel 8 pro and I am looking forward to S24 Ultra. Wanted to know your thoughts
@@katuiran what are you smoking. Have you used other devices than Samsung. Please be quiet.
@@tobesnwajagu4095 duh ofcourse, I use a xiaomi 13 ultra. I hate the software and the camera is not perfect but I like it. I sold my S23 already and was seriously looking to replace it with the Pixel. The battery is trashed on the Pixel. If you don't have anything smart to say then you go and be quiet apple fanboy lol.
I was able to trade in 2 phones at best buy for my p8p have been very happy with it. Doesn't feel as big as I thought it was coming from the 7.
Which two may I ask?
@@katinasoutherland7693 I traded in my pixel 7 and iPhone XR, one store gave me trouble and even tried to intimidate me into not trying another store, very ymmv
I see MKBHD gave the MVP award to the Pixel 8. He uses the Pixel 8 Pro as his daily driver but considers the Pixel 8 to be better value.
Been using p8p since launch, and i have no complaints.
Now I am pretty certain that is what was the cause.
its a night and day difference between the modem on the 6 pro and 8 pro, its so good.
Plan on dieing in the next few years?@@JB-1184
Exchanged my 15 plus for the p8p and honestly couldnt be happier. My only gripe is the side buttons sit too low for me.
Great review, I just ordered a google pixel pro 8, google pixel 6 pro has done its job 👍 keep up the great reviews
I love my Pixel 8 Pro in Bay.
My wife loves her 8 Pro and after a year next week, I can say my 6 Pro is awesome.
Nice. Glad to hear it.
A question about the pixel 8, how is the call quality, do they sound good?
Love your videos matey, especially the pixel ones BC they're helping me get a better understanding of what my phone can do! 🙏 💯
Try the Peak Design case - really nice having a fabric like backing and mag safe
I bought my Pixel 8 Pro preorder. This is my 4th Pixel and it is the best, by far
What to do about the bad selfie camera?
I don't honestly think there's as much hate around the Pixel 8 as many are inclined to think. It's been doing very well with Phone of the Year awards for 2023 and even the "..months later" reviews continue to be mostly positive.
The tensor chips are not competitive in the raw power department. But they are good with A.I.
Yeah tensor gets crap for no reason. I had the pixel 8 for a good 3 weeks and I liked it 🤷🏾♂️
Its a very good chip
@@TechOdyssey I agree
New subscriber, thanks, you've just put my mind at ease and I've ordered a pixel 8 pro.
Loving my 8 pro. Hoping to ride it out for 2 years at least.
$999
-200 Google Holiday Price reduction
-$315 Google Pixel 7 Pro trade in rebate
-$125 RUclips/TV rebate
= $359 ..not too bad
Great deals!
I just bought the pixel 8 pro and this thing rocks who cares what anyone says thanks for the review.
Ive been contemplating pixel 8 pro as my next phone
What are you using now?

I just got the Pixel 8 Pro. It's amazing!!!
After your review, I moved from iPhone to Pixel 8 pro. Thank you
Oh wow. That's cool! Glad you're happy with the switch!
Just ordered mine. With all the discounts and trading my pixel 7, I’ll have less than $400 in it. Just too good of a deal to pass up.
I had one when it first came out and wasn't impressed at all with the battery life or charging speeds. Has the battery life improved with updates?
What is the latest on upgrading the kernel on the pixel 8 pro?
Another great vid. Any idea on what the sound quality is like through Bluetooth earphones. Had the 7a and the volume was very low.
Just as good as any phone and more dependent on your headphones & audio codec. I use LDAC with my XM5. The OPEC codec is good with pixel buds too.
Thanks for the reviews. My burning question: Get the 1 TB and commit to 8 Pro for years, or get 128 GB and trade it in for 9 Pro next year?
9 Pro. YOLO. lol
Good day,

I came from an s22 ultra, ive had multiple iphones and got a Pixel 8 pro just because i wanted something different....that being said the pixel 8 pro is the snappiest phone ive ever used.
How's the battery life compared to the s22 ultra?
This phone is smooth and good battery and no overheating
How's the modem on it? Any issues with calls?
Would you recommend this phone my current phone is a one plus 10 pro
How is the memory compared to samsungs plus? Or middle phone
Never had a problem with my iPhone. It’s smoother than my pixel 8 pro and s23 ultra
I'd buy the pixel for it's cameras alone OMG they truly are the BEST!
my pixel 8 pro it's really the best
Pixels are the funnest phones. Theyre always good to look at and use.. apple and samsung are boring compared to pixel
Pixels will get better when the only have to give support to their phones with Tensor chips. They still have to go back and forth between Tensor and Snapdragon phones.
Bro you were among the ones throwing hate to pixel 8 pro
Just one big drawback is the lack of micro SD card slot 💳 😢.
If Google had this plus an SPen 🖋, it would be a near perfect smartphone 📱 💯
I love my Pixel 8 Pro it's great for photography plus all the AI features. It's the smartest smartphone at this time. I am looking forward to the S24 Ultra and what it brings to AI.
I've had it for a week. However it does get overheating often.. When using 5G is the worst. it warms up to circa 41 oC... Even with LTE you can feel it gets warm. Main issue I have with it. Also maximum brightness is not what they advert. At manual brightness it's still darker than my wife's Samsung A54. For half the price...
From "I quit" 2 months ago to "The best yet". Link to purchase conveniently attached (and I've actually followed your reviews). Dude, people aren't stupid. They'll eventually mark you for someone who'll sell them anything for a commission. Be better. Or at least, less obvious.
