I think people avoid pixel due to the rebranded exynos chipset, and i cannot blame them. Ive heard many complaints about overheating, poor reception and bad battery life.
I traded my Pixel 7 Pro in on the Pixel 8 Pro and have not had any overheating issues nor any connectivity problems. I don't carry it in my pocket often as I use an S24 for that but the 8 Pro is used daily for pictures, games, and watching videos.
As a Google device user since the days of their Nexus line, I have to agree. Those 3 are their weakest points and need to be fixed to garner more customers.
Ive had the phone for two weeks and can honestly say i feel no discernable difference from s23 ultra . Everything i did on mys23 ultra i do on my p8p. Amazing device. Fingerprint sensor requires you to hold down for a millisecond longer than galaxy and you get throgh on first press every time. Im not going go complain about a millisecond. Battery life FOR me is exceptional. I unplug before i leave my house and i dont worry about battery . Haptics, amazing . Screen amazing . I get what google is doing snd i enjoy

I've had good experiences with my p8p as well and even my Pixel 6 but my 8 Pro is much better. With all the apps I have on my 256 gig model, the battery life was ok. But I'm hoping Android 15 fixed it and I set my refresh rate to 120hz again and full resolution.

Great video! If you go in the settings, developer setting, you can force the 120hz at all times and then everything seems to run at 120. It does have some caveats, for example the Reddit loading animation logo "bounces" twice as fast and it's funny to see haha. That's the light ring @2:46? Is that some kind of notification light? I will upgrade from s21 FE to Pixel 9 Pro XL too. Hopefully the preorder bonus will be good. Maybe it is wishfull thinking but the Pixel Buds for the normal 9, the Pixel watch 3 for the 9 Pro and the Pixel watch 3 XL for the 9 Pro XL would be great (and hopefully realistic).
I disagree with some of your points in your review here. The camera on the Pixel is still way better compared to the iPhone 15 pro and S24u and my friends with iPhones prefer to use my pixel 8p to take pictures. The only thing the pixel is still bad at is taking videos. You don't need 120hz while using Facebook or Twitter 🙄 processor needs to be better but the pixel is still buttery smooth and fast while using it. I'm a former Samsung S series user and there are differences between the regular and ultra S phones.
The Tensor performance problems stems from the processes used at Samsung's Foundary. Even Samsung Exynos chips have these same issues. Samsung should just pause the chip thing to work out the issues and go harder on the memory side.

Personally, I love my Pixel 8 Pro. Easily the smoothest and cleanest smartphone I have ever owned. The design is also top tier for me 👍🏻 I rarely do anything intensive on my phone like gaming or video processing, so I don't notice any performance differences with other flagships. However, given the price tag, I do agree that they should at least set a standard with the performance for those that want to get every bit of their dollar's worth. Hopefully with Pixel 9, they resolve this.

I wanted to switch from my iPhone 14 Pro to the Google pixel 8 last week (same size) it was about $725 CAD after taxes but I couldn’t pull the trigger, I kept reading reviews about how shitty the phone is and wouldn’t be a good long term phone. I used the google 7 pro few years ago but switched to the iPhone 14 Pro.
I've just bought 256gb p8p for £ 471 (after trade in for p6p . I'll trade that in for prob £300 against the p10p in 2 yrs time. It's a good deal. I got £236 for my p6p on trade in which I thought was generous.

Great video! The problem with Pixels is the updates causing catastrophic issues. In addition to certain things like overheating, poor battery life and standby time. Then each year they raise their prices. Should've stuck with undercutting Samsung and Apple. I love the 8 series from a hardware design but it's the glitches and bugs that come with software updates that ruin the experience for me.

It just means there is a higher probability for things to be different (most likely better, but maybe worse in sine regards). Even though there is a chance of the g5 being better I will go for the Pixel 9 Pro XL. Even though it is a tiny bit of a gamble I trust google on this one and preorder it.
According to a road map that leaked around the Pixel 6 release, this will be the Pixel 10 (it was real as it has been accurate so far). The Pixel 9 is barely more powerful (yes that already leaked with live photos) and still uses Samsung foundry sadly. They will probably try to make a big jump with the Pixel 10, and put more AI features on the Pixel 9s (Pixel 9 has 12Gb of RAM, Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL 16Gb so that's likely the case)
The video you used to demonstrate video boost is not the best representation of the feature. Try a night time video and you will see that the difference is day and night

I'm about two weeks in using the p8pro from a 6a. I can't imagine the s24 ultra isn't way better. But, the p8pro is much cheaper now. At this price it's amazing. At launch price, I'd be unhappy. If google wants to keep charging iphone prices, they'll need pixel 10 cpu to live up to the hype. I only see people mention it for gaming, but it's such a deal breaker for video.

Please, do not use term "shutter lag" with Pixel 8 Pro. Together with iPhone, this is the only smartphone on the market where you can rely on proper shutter. Does it take slower pictures? Yes, but the outcome is great. And when you combine it with Best Take, it is perfect. I still use S24U, but Pixel 8 Pro is still a great phone.
@@omarreid7222 mostly gaming (call of duty) and like texting, calls. Whenever I switch from 14 pro max to pixel, I always notice the big difference in performance and it is very disappointing.

If you do any gaming or heavy multitasking, Apple or Any Android using the gen 2 or 3 Snapdragon is the way to go. I got the s24u, 13 pro, and pixel 8 pro. IMO only thing pixel has over the other is just the camera taking pictures that's it. It runs hot, battery doesn't last as long. It's a big disappointment. My s24u and 13 pro spanks the pixel 8 pro in everything else. Trading it in when the latest Android running the next gen snapdragon comes out.
if Google ever gave the construction of its processors to tsmc or Qualcomm, it would be the most perfect phone in the world, I think it would make the shade to Samsung and other big leaders in the market.

In India Pixel 8 is $600 and S23 is $500 approx. Would S23 be a better option for me?

I love my pixel 8 pro but the performance isnt good enough for me compared to my 14 pro max. I will be switching to samsung s24 ultra.
Curious , What do you do on your phone ?
@@omarreid7222 mostly gaming (call of duty) and like texting, calls. Whenever I switch from 14 pro max to pixel, I always notice the big difference in performance and it is very disappointing.
@@Geoxmind yah I need to try call of duty and see for myself . I play squad busters and it plays flawlessly . I think Google doesn't wanna come out and say it explicitly " we don't care about gaming ". Which they don't .. clearly . But everything else I've done on this phone has been fine. Browsing RUclips streaming .. no complaints
If you do any gaming or heavy multitasking, Apple or Any Android using the gen 2 or 3 Snapdragon is the way to go. I got the s24u, 13 pro, and pixel 8 pro. IMO only thing pixel has over the other is just the camera taking pictures that's it. It runs hot, battery doesn't last as long. It's a big disappointment. My s24u and 13 pro spanks the pixel 8 pro in everything else. Trading it in when the latest Android running the next gen snapdragon comes out.
I think google is right not to worry about phone games Why buy a phone to play Buy a switch instead

No, it's not the same. Pixel 8 Pro also has 10-bit HDR mode. Video Boost is something completely separate.
if Google ever gave the construction of its processors to tsmc or Qualcomm, it would be the most perfect phone in the world, I think it would make the shade to Samsung and other big leaders in the market.
We'll see what happens. But i feel they'll get it right soon
