I recently just found your channel and I love it already. I managed to get myself a Pixel 8 as a second phone, 2 days ago and I literally fell in love with the camera.
Just ordered my pixel 8 and every video I've watched on RUclips is complaining about performance. Right now im using pixel 5 but if performance is a little better than the 5 then i think im good coz the 5 handles well.😅
I feel like this is exaggerated or there's more user errors involved than believed. The phone is very much capable for the average user AND for heavy users as well.
I've used and recently sold the 8. Sometimes if you're trying to do multiple things especially like having maps open and using RUclips music, the phone crawls. Can live with that. It sometimes heats up. Can live with that. Depending on update, battery can be awesome or crap. Can live with that. What I cannot live with is crappy cell signal. Sold. I'm a long term pixel user and now am looking forward to the iPhone 16.
As a phone nerd who switches between multiple android devices every few weeks or so (S24, Flip 5, S23 Ultra, and Pixel to name a few), I can honestly confirm that the Pixel 8 has stutters/jitters through every app - even Google's native apps. In addition, battery life also suffers unfortunately. It's a decent mid tier phone with amazing UI imo but like the creater said, its held back by sub par performance. Also, I can confirm it does overheat more than it should. Its that tensor chip...its just not close to Sammys Snapdragon. With all that said, my SIM card is currently in the pixel 8 and I still enjoy it even though it has its flaws. From its system UI to its notification sounds, it's still a clean and simple phone to use. The exterior design language is much better than any late Samsung model I've used.
Couldn't agree more. The one reason why I've had to sell my Pixel 8 is because of bad cell signal. Something 8 just can't live without. I could live with the slowness. But recently missed a very important call due to that shitty Exynoss 5300 modem. Not again.
The pixel makes people of color skin look darker except pictures are taken under bright light conditions. Overall, pixel pictures look under-exposed when the lights fall.
I have a question about the stutters on scrolling. Does it also happen on pixel 8a knowing that they have the same chipset? Because I have actually read a lot about the stutters people said on the pixel 8 but haven't heard that much on pixel 8a (I am not so sure with the pixel 8 pro tho since I haven't really watched videos about it).
The non usage of 120hz on 3rd party apps is across all pixel 8 series phone? I have the pixel 8a and twitter, reddit is not as smooth as on my S24U. What about pixel 8 pro?
Thanks. This was an excellent review. Every time I think I may buy a Pixel I read a few reviews and there is just always something that steers me to something else. Still trying to decide on this phone. I really only want it for VIDEO and that's it. I probably will not even use the phone. It's just that there are so few options of a pocketable video camera at this price point. The POV Action Cams feel weird to me. So I am off to look at some video samples. I also do NOT believe the batter is going to last more than 2 to 3 years for my use. But how does one review the life of a battery?
