Hey Jerry , whats your thoughts on scratch test. I can see we are stuck at level 6 and 7 for past couples of years now . Meanwhile , got so many new versions of gorilla glass . Is it gonna change in near future ? Can we move to one level up ?
Hey Zach, could you please test the durability of the camera glass when the phone is exposed to fast temperature changes (within the allowed temp range)? There are a lot of reports regarding spontaneous camera glass shattering of the pixel 7 series, still not recognized by google as manifacture defect, but potentially linked to a clarence problem when the metal camera frame is subjected to thermal expansion
To add to this. Do not take the pixel 7 or pro on a gondola to go skiing. My 7 Pro cracked randomly. Was looking for videos to replace it when i found this video
I was happy to hear you mention that using a case will protect the Pixel 7 Pro! You DEFINITELY go to the extreme in your testing, and I definitely appreciate that!!! BUT, how many people do NOT use a case on their $900+ smartphones in 2022??? From my experience looking at smartphones out in the wild, I would say that it's got to be in the 90%-95% range.
Around 85% of all people use a case, the rest are people who like how the phone feel in their hand and they appreciate that specific feeling more than the safety of their phones
I don't use a case or screen protector, specifically for the reasons mentioned above - someone spent hundreds of hours making the phone feel nice in the hand, and I don't want to cover it up with a cheap case, or even a more premium case made by Google. I like the thin feel of the phone in the hand. I'm lucky to have a job that doesn't put the phone at great risk though, so it's never really been an issue.

Nice review. I think the Pixel 2 XL was better. Front facing speakers, my coating never scratched but a couple of chips from whennI drop it ober the years. I never use a case but it held up well. Problems with it is it needs a new battery, WiFi can sometime drop out a range but this was common after an uptade years ago, volume button broke and fell out, waiting on a replacement, and worst of all they stopped with software updates. They just don't make phones like they used to.

Useful for someone like me who doesn't use a case or screen protector 😅
@Hewhoremains420 good camera
@Hewhoremains420 but the pixel 6 pro is just better because i feel like it is
Same. My pixel 7 scratch easily.
Zack reading audible books? Yeah that would be a good thing
Yay! Pixel 7 Pro. I'm watching on my pixel 6 Pro and I love it
@@bettercallseoul1504what are you talking about?
That audible ad insert was flawless...
When you know, you are about to destroy it 0:10
Thank you Jerry
Jerry, your 6 Pro test & teardown videos helped me choose one a couple of months ago. Now seeing this video I'm feeling good about not holding off for the 7. Edit to add: Oh, how do you set things to slide the calendar in from the side like that?
Me 2! i will stay with my pixel 6 pro..., pixel 7 pro bend test and the "easy scratch camera bump" was actually a deal breaker!
Same...I actually got my 6 Pro almost 6 months after release (which in this case is great cause all the bugs have been pretty much fixed)...was debating on waiting for the 7 series but when I saw the sideways "i" design of the camera bar I was like there's no way this would look better than the 6 series haha
8:32 man that was one of the cutest smiles I've seen.
Maybe you could test the exploding camera cover issue? Put the thing in the freezer and then heat it up?
Just gotta say, Audible NEEDS to let you narrate something, your voice is awesome
Great content as always! Interested to see a teardown of this phone please 🙏
zachs smile is so wholesome
Hey Jerry , whats your thoughts on scratch test. I can see we are stuck at level 6 and 7 for past couples of years now . Meanwhile , got so many new versions of gorilla glass . Is it gonna change in near future ? Can we move to one level up ?
Likely not glass is glass at most more shatter proof or some such but glass likely won't ever go above 6 unless they infuse it qith other mats
Loved the "Jerry Tech Tips" line lmao
Hey Zach, could you please test the durability of the camera glass when the phone is exposed to fast temperature changes (within the allowed temp range)? There are a lot of reports regarding spontaneous camera glass shattering of the pixel 7 series, still not recognized by google as manifacture defect, but potentially linked to a clarence problem when the metal camera frame is subjected to thermal expansion
To add to this. Do not take the pixel 7 or pro on a gondola to go skiing. My 7 Pro cracked randomly. Was looking for videos to replace it when i found this video
So the visor scratches easily and is a weak point for breaking the phone in half. Truly form over function 😅
nice to see you unboxing and tearing down phones again
Hey Zach, are you going to do the new "sapphire" screen on the Apple Watch Ultra? I'd love to know if it is actually more durable.
The Bend Test ✊🏼👍🏼👊🏼
Hats off to you 👏 👌🏼🙌
I was happy to hear you mention that using a case will protect the Pixel 7 Pro!
Google has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars designing its smartphones. And users then close it with a piece of rubber 😢
Most pixel cases don't cover the camera visor tho.
@@blazeclarke that's you, 99% of people use a case on their phone because not everyone has money to pay for repair damage.
Thanks for uploading, I've been waiting for this one.
*Why am I torturing myself watching this?*
Everytime Mr jerry say scratches at level 6 and deeper groves at level 7. My head repeats its along. 7 years and going
so far im liking my pixel 6, it has software issues that *should* have been fixed now but thats fine with how new it is.
though i do miss my galaxy s10
Waited for this video for soooooo longggg

“The boy who harnessed the wind “is also a movie and trust me it's a must WATCH!
The wired charge is actually 30 W, 23 is for the wireless one
The boy who harnessed the wind already has a very good film. Very touching story😍😍😍
Locksmith here, I hope that key isn’t to anything important. Pretty easy to look at that and remake a new one.
Especially since the last second of the video tells me exactly how to make it.
Do you know where he lives then? Would probably be easier to just drill the door instead of running around like a lunatic trying every door at his property and getting smacked in the face with a brick
@@TerminalHeatSink It wouldn’t be the hardest thing to find. The internet is a scary place to be when you show your life for a living. I’ve watched enough of his videos to know a general layout of his property, I know what vehicles he and his wife drive. I know where Not a Wheelchair is. And I live just a couple counties away.
Been waiting for this video.... Thanks
Two things that are for sure in this world:
1) The sun rises in the east, and
2) Most phone scratch at level 6 with deeper grooves at a level 7
Me grinding my teeth this entire video, like when someone scratches a chalkboard.
Really looking forward to see your iphone 14 pro and apple watch ultra durability tests. Especially the apple watch ultra since it seems like it's pretty durable. Nice video as always!
There's not really a reason to do the iP14P as the Pro and Non Pro models basically use the same materials (with exception to textured glass vs transparent)
@@AustinRoss true, but he did that every year so i feel the need to ask about the 14P as well lol, but it's nice to see one since the 14 changed the layout of the device this year so it'd be nice to know if the 14P series will follow along. But still, my main interest is still on the apple watch ultra.
Bro wanted to casually flex his Rivian 😂 Love your vids.
Pity because I still think it's the best Pixel they made, the 7 Pro is close but seems slightly more scratch prone, bend test not so good, too much glass to break, not front firing speakers and a huge camera bump, just make the phone thicker.
They just don't make phones like they used to.
The volume button on my regular Pixel 2 also fell out. This is one of the annoying aspects of Google phones, they always have subpar build quality.
I recently upgraded from Pixel 2XL to Pixel 7 Pro. The worst part of Pixel 2XL was the charging port. I got it replaced. But Pixel 7 Pro's photo quality is so much better than Pixel 2XL
@@kjan Yeah, the 7's camera is the best part but Pixel 2XL camera is good enough for me. I really don't like camera bumps, just make the phone thicker, give it a bigger battery.
What was wrong with your charging port?
Mines still working good a new still.
@@Commander_ZiN I couldn't charge my Pixel2XL. That's why I had to replace the charging port.
@@kjan Was the plug going all the way in and clipping in snuggly?
I thought I needed to replace mine once but it was just debri from my pocket that I couldn't see. I cleaned it out with a cut up business card.
Took years for it to stop working and me to actually do something about it, I couldn't see anything with a torch but is wasn't working so I had to try something. I really am a fan of USB C now, although before I cleaned it I thought it was rather lame :P
How was it after it was replaced? Did you manage to get an original one?
I'm thinking I'll have to get the Pixel 7 Pro, even though it isn't as strong on the bend test. It's either that or replace battery on mine but I still wouldn't get security updates. There is the ASUS phones too, but that telephoto looks fun.
I wish batteries were replacible, I don't think new phones every 2 years is good for the environment just because the battery is worn.
I cannot stop laughing, especially at the very end. Definitely not photoshopped. It was CG
Audible needs to hire you. You would be a great narrator.
We need Jerry Epic Tech Tips channel now! XD
* Brother Rig gets ripped * "Phones are not that strong any more"
I was actually brushing my teeth when Jerry said "Just like with brushing your teeth".
Ok, that was the best JerryRig Razorblade ad!
Light scratches between 6 and deeper with 7. Classic jerry
Every time you scratch an aluminum frame, I immediately get goosebumps and the chills lol.
Jerry tech tips is my new favorite show....
