    My partner ran over his 7 pro with a truck - screen cracked but it still worked for 2 months (it was in a case). The day he got the replacement phone the 7 pro screen stopped working entirely - the touch sensors worked but we could see nothing, which meant we couldn't copy any of the data off. Thanks to this video we knew about the accessibility features. We were able to turn on TalkBack and use the screen reader to go through the "set up my device" wizard. If we hadn't known about TalkBack the data would have been lost! Thank you!

    The glass itself might be slightly softer than normal as hardened steel is usually around 5.5. so even if we assume the blade is harder than normal you should've checked on a different phone to see if it's truly the case. You only have picks of 5 and 6 and nothing in between. But the materials in between will scratch as well.

    I'm extremely happy with my pixel 7. I didn't really see a reason to drop the extra $300 for the pro model. The sub-par battery life that everyone complains about can be completely nullified by disabling 5g and using LTE. It will give you better connectivity and 10 to 12 hours of SoT, if not more and you will actually get higher data speed in most cases. And probably the best part is the camera bar on the snow model reminds me of my Limited edition white Nexus 6p.

    • @blazeclarke
      @blazeclarke Год назад

      The data speed varies with area and network. Through most.major cities in the UK the 5g speeds are 300mbps+, 4g is anywhere from 10-50mbps ish. Everyone advertises more but real world, that's about what you get. Regardless 5g is much faster so a lot of people do benefit from using it. Whether that, plus a zoom lens is worth the extra cash, that's up to whoever's buying.
      On the 6 range you could turn off adaptive battery and another battery related AI, and it would increase the battery life by a good 30% or so, I haven't had to do this on my 7 pro but it might be worth a try to see if it'll benefit the current gen of pixel phones also? If battery is a concern

There are a lot of reports regarding spontaneous camera glass shattering of the pixel 7 series, still not recognized by google as manifacture defect, but potentially linked to a clarence problem when the metal camera frame is subjected to thermal expansion

      Second this. My 6 pro had quite a few scratches on it after about 14 months of use before I traded it in. I found it didn't bother me too much as it does seem to put up with being dropped better than most other phones as a compromise - I don't tend to drop phones, but I did drop it twice, once from height and once down a staircase, and both times it was fine. Useful for someone like me who doesn't use a case or screen protector 😅

    So I dropped this thing less than a couple weeks after I got it.😭
    The glass has held up very well, including the back. The aluminum bits (the structural frame on the edge and the camera bump), not so much. But I've seen that happen with iPads, and at least the frame is sturdy enough to resist deforming to the point of stressing the glass.
    If Google/iFixit sold parts for this as promised (and apparently they've abandoned this), I'd be tempted to replace the frame and back, but that will probably mean complete disassembly and reassembly which means a LOT of double-stick 3M tape.
