Google wasn't' kidding when they said they did lot of research on people's face and corrected their colors. I think their AI algorithm grows bigger and bigger with users input, and over the year we will be treated with most natural looking color corrected pictures out of pixel devices. I would have chosen s22 in almost 4 instances over iphone, both were too close. To me pixel, s22 and iphone. But if iPhone's pro raw pictures are used, pixel and iphone should have been so close leaving s22 far far behind... Overall, great job guys!

Hahaha, maybe it will like with search engine. We can argue what is better in many situations like iPhone vs Android, beef or chicken etc. but when it comes to search engines Google with their huge data and perfecting algorithm for decades is far above anyone else.
I switched over to the iPhone 14 pro max this year from a Pixel 6 pro and the thing I miss the most about the Pixel is the photos. The photos I got out of the pixel were the best of any phone I’ve ever had.
I have the regular pixel 7 and I'm always impressed every time I point the phone against the sun and take a pic (which most photographers try to avoid if you want to get details on the subject), it always comes out with so much dynamic range and details
The Pixel 7 was quite a surprise. I would have expected the iPhone 14 to be better. Before I retired a few years back, I owed a photography studio for 4 decades, and was a very early adopter of digital back in the mid 90s. After watching other iPhone 14 pro/max videos by Max and Vadim, I bought the iPhone 14 pro a month ago. Maybe I'll need to glue a Pixel 7 to the back of it. ;-D
Yes same thing max made it look like it blew the competition out of the water that’s why I bought mine too LOL but by FAR the pixel is better in a lot of situations
I heard pixel 8 is gonna have a huge camera upgrade so i suggest waiting for the 8 while keeping your iphone cuz for me i prefer having 2 phones than 1
I would appreciate it if my Pixel had better video. That being said I'm not making a movie and the quality is already fantastic. So that leaves the more important metric: photos, and the Pixel is kicking ass. In addition the Pixel is also providing all the other amazing phone features that apple can't match. Let's not forget the Assistant.
As a photographer, I think it's hard to judge coz even we prefer our shots a little warm / cool, bright sometimes and deep shadows other times. It's a matter of perspective and the theme of the photograph. I think it'll take seconds to edit any one of the images to look like the other 2. So basically these phones are doing a great job in different styles. All 3 are very comparable.

Nice comparison from a professional perspective. I own Pixel 7 Pro and is definitely a surprise in every situation. Just put out from the pocket, double click on the power button and in 1 second and a half you have an awesome pic in every scenario. I really enjoy this piece of tech!
What do you think of the front camera though? I was really disappointed, the quality is so bad... I got a pixel 7 and my old Xiaomi 9lite takes better pictures at home...
@@io100x100unfortunately the selfie cameras on the new pixels are truely horrible :( I really hope the next ones will fix this issue. It holds the phone back a bit. I have a Pixel 6 and otherwise I'm very happy with the phone. But Video and Selfie Camera could use a good update to get on iPhone Level
I have the Pixel 7 Pro and I have taken Night Sight photos that came out a little blurry. There is a neat trick that I use in the Google Camera that makes it come out a LOT better. After you have taken the Night Sight image, use the Photo Unblur feature and it will sharpen the image and remove the blur. It's pretty cool and makes for a really GREAT image! I think all three phones take great photos, but it's quite clear, judging by the photo preference count in this video, that Pixel 7 Pro photo processing is, by far, the best!
Samsung always had this poppy over saturated look about their cameras. It’s like it’s already edited out the gate. Honestly with the great lighting any of these cameras can get the job done
As a Pixel 7 Pro owner, the only problem I have sometimes is it going too "hdr" and sometimes looking flat. But it being more true-to-life with colors than the iPhone and Samsung makes more sense. Then you can add your filter or adjust the photo.
It's funny how Max's team always chooses the darker Iphone photos when it's in the night but the professional photographers enjoyed the scene to be a little bit brighter lol
One of the challenges watching these and similar videos is the way the photos are displayed on your device - the one you are using to watch the videos - is not the same as seeing them on a neutral screen. For me watching this on an iPadPro 11: iPhone 14 Pro - 8, Samsung S22 - 9, Pixel 7 Pro - 23.
Marques was right bro the pixel just been way better and the blind scientific test was correct. The dude who did the test flips back and forth too much because if you was check previous videos when he talks about the iPhone it’s all natural and the others have this and that now he is taking himself out the equation and saying a lot of people and not including his self.
@@kgzdelivery what marques is saying iPhone switched to a 48mp camera that needs updating because they’re processing the images just like there 12mp counterparts. It is gonna get better with the iPhone 15 pro they not gonna do anything else to the 14 pro and pro max

Have an S22 Ultra and I think switching to 108MP reduced the right amount of processing. A quick example would be the fire shot at 19:30 since I have take several fire shots and they look more like the ones on left or sometimes on the right depending on the lighting while Max said he tried 4 times and it looked the same.
Yeah, the 22 ultra isnt a simple point and shoot camera. You have yi change some stuff around and it will always take the cake when you use it proporly.

I have both Pixel 7 pro and s22 ultra, P7P nails it pretty much every time, but s22U has much better selfies. I don't like selfies on P7P, they look unnatural and overprocessed.
I do own a Samsung S21 Ultra which i consider pretty similar to S22 ultra and one thing where it really shines is the ability to have full manual control on all the 3 lenses. Having a composite RAW file from Expert RAW! May be you should make a video of comparing the RAW images and comparing the full potential of all 3 images - might be of interest to a smaller audience though
Yeah, I felt like these guys were way too concerned with exposure and colors, those are so easy to fix in post. The samsung had the least fake clarity/sharpening and looked like an actual photo instead of some computerized image. I switched to iphone from the s11 back in the day but now might have to switch back if samsung ever figures out how to do good video.
I use the Pixel 7 pro and it is really good. I live about 40 miles from mt Rainier and i zoom in 30x and i can see every small detail of the mountain no matter the lighting with the exception of nighttime. I highly reccomend it.
I'm 2 weeks with my Google Pixel 7 Pro. I have to be honest I have a bit of buyers remorse wondering if I made a mistake. After viewing this video I realize I made the right choice, I always picked the Pixel 7 Pro photos and videos when it mattered but others phones when all the pictures just didn't look right. I am so happy to find this video.
When you take photos with the samsung don't use the 108 pxl when it's in a bright or dark area bc it's not HDR use the second choice and make sure to turn Auto HDR on , Hight efficiency pictures on, and scène optimiser on
I was planning to buy the iphone 13 Pro since it has the same price with the Pixel 7 Pro in my country but after watching this i will get the Pixel 7 Pro google image processing is extraordinary my only complain is the portrait mode
Pixel 7 pro's camera is really great! When I share the picture, most people are asking which camera I was using. It's a really good choice in terms of price and performance.. P.S: I'm not a photographer and have no any knowledge about photography. Click to focus, click to shot - all what I know)
Being semi pro (side gig) photographer also I'm not at all surprised. The comments with all that is wrong with iPhone processing especially colour and white balance is my experience seeing most pics taken from misses 14pro. I honestly think it gets those things wrong more than my low mid spec oppo even (my base comparison gear is Nikon and FujiFillm). I guess just save the money (especially in the USA) and have better is the take away from this video
I got a pixel 7 pro recently and I can confirm. Main sensor is amazing, portraits are shitty. I think they can improve them via software. Videos are ok, not consistent like the iphone. But I use the main for 80+% of the time so I am pretty happy with it. I think most people use the main sensor for the majority of the time, so the pixel really got a banger. Especially with the non pro version, such good value. I like bigger screens so I went for the pro. Very interesting video, confirmed my choice. 10/10 :)
I feel like the iphone still needs the software corrections for the new 48megapixel sensor , the same way the pixel needed them with the 6. But Overall in my own personal use i have noticed and overly warm tone in night mode photos with iphone. Im sure a lot of iphone issues can be corrected with software but its a matter of whether they actually do it, Or just decide to fix the software issues only on the 15’s cameras to make them seem better when in reality it could be fixed with the 14’s. Either way Apple needs to step it up and decrease the price. Or atleast keep the price but actually do some innovation
Why would Apple reduce price when people are willing to pay extra year over year? iPhone 15 Ultra will be another $100-200 extra and people will still buy like hot cakes, mark my words
13:25 he says the right one was the worst but it's actually the left one that's the worst. It's blown out, paddle no shadows and muted colors. The right one was a bit bright on the skin but it has a more natural realistic look. The center has great shadows and colors but it's a bit warm, although that makes the center picture pop the most.
Almost all my votes went for pixel pro7 except for one or two... Thank you for this video.. Ive been in a dilemma since 2 weeks if I should go with s22ultra or pixel 7 pro.. This once cleared my doubts..
10 S22, 7 iPhone, 22 Pixel. Honestly most surprised I didn't end up with more iPhone, as I chose it 4 out of the first 5 and then it just fell off as pics became more difficult to capture (lighting, shadows, colors etc)
Wow. There’s no way I’m leaving Apple but seeing this makes me feel the iPhone pro is unnecessary. I chose the pixel 7 80-90% of the time. I’m convinced the iPhone takes horrible photos and until they fix their processing I’m gonna save a boat load of cash downgrading to the non-pro
I don't understand the discussion about which camera is the best. The photos I have from the 1970s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, 10s and 20s are all great. Oh yeah and before the 70's from my dad. The atmosphere that the old photos show is just great. It doesn't always have to be better. The moment you capture is much more important. So, it doesn't matter at all which phone you choose. Choose one of the brands you like the most and it's okay
The results didn't surprise me at all. I have a 14 Pro Max and am seriously considering an android solely for still photos. If the Pixel 7 offered full manual shooting, I'd pick one up in a second.
They were never not on the top, the first pixel to the current one, all had the best camera in comparison to their counterparts.... In the middle of the series like pixel 4 and 5, they were bad phones because they got a lot of things, not camera, very wrong
I guess my only disappointment with this is that it ignores the telephoto shots. It seemed that in order to try and keep some fairness, the focus was only on shots all of them could achieve. How about a 30x zoom shot to see how they compare. As a parent, I am constantly in the audience of my child's performances where telephoto is key. While there were a couple of telephoto shots, it was generally ignored.
Just recently upgraded to the iPhone 14 pro max ultra from 13 pro max ultra and I’ve noticed that the pictures look worse….hopefully it’s a software issue that can be fixed..besides that I love the phone
We just looked through my wifes photos, and she’s had all the IPhones. She’s never used anything else. But quite frankly, the pictures that she took with the 11, is better than the pics with the 13 and 14. Sure, not in all scenarios. But in the scenarios that most people take pictures.
I also have realised this some time ago, i have the galaxy m51 with a gcam (google camera software) and the iPhone 13 pro max i was taking photos of a weeding last year and i give up using the iphone because it made everyone look orange just like the simpsons and even without google software the galaxy has the colors spot on and a better dynamic range also later in that month i went to a party and it's incredible how people go crazy with the iPhone photos but i was using google software on the m51 and i got better results basicaly every time in the photos, by that day i only use the iPhone to record videos
Being an iPhone user for years now, it was easy to tell which were shot (without editing) with the iPhone because it tends to be famous for the greener tint of images and somewhat of an over exposure in darker areas, I was shocked however, with the Pixel overall.
I have yet to find a video that covers indoor shots that cover more everyday life/occasions! E.g interiors with lower light conditions, inside malls, restaurants(sitting at the table and more food shots that don't face that window), group photos. Please do this if you can!!
Great video. It would be really interesting if you did this again but also took the same shots with a real camera and compared those to the smartphones.
majority of the people buying the iphone will be using standard mode, and normal people wouldn't want to spend time editing photos so this was the perfect case scenario.
It would be better, even if the others had RAW on as well. That is, until the s23 ultra comes out lol (with up to date camera hardware) they should be pre similar
@@FangOG Many people who buy an iPhone do it for the camera and to have the best possible quality in both video and photography. If you are a person who likes to upload photos to social networks, which I think most people make it obvious, you are a person who will edit their photos as you like the most to upload them later to social networks, it should be noted that only when you use pro raw is when you use the new 48 mp and that is where you get more detail and information in the photo and it is the video that I would like to see that tests the pro raw format and so people who may not know how to use it will know how to use it
@@huntno the competition for the s23 ultra is the next iPhone 15 pro Max here they are testing the best phones of 2022 and I understand that the iPhone is the only device that allows you to take raw photos with the highest sensor quality the other devices let you take in raw but not with the maximum quality of the main sensor
Why does literally no one compare the Pixel 7 Pro to the regular iPhone 14? These are much closer in price range, why compare a 800 euro pixel to the 1250 euro iphone instead of the 900 euro iphone?
I have a pixel 7 pro and installed the gcam 8.7 APK - highly highly recommended. You have even more control over many aspects of the camera, especially HDR+ and white balance. Google AI does adapt over time, btw . Mine was producing photos that's were way too blue/cold at first. So I had the temp and exposure sliders active, and adjusted the temp to warmer most times. But now it's learned my preference and I don't really need the sliders anymore
It's unfortunate none of you EVER attempt to explore the expert raw mode. The fact it keeps the file in a raw format and the capabilities it has it outperforms any other phone. The s22u and 23u have an astrophotography mode on top which just changes the low light abilities of the Samsung to phenomenal levels.
This was really revealing, thank you for mentioning updates! I noticed between Samsung S22 (not ultra) and the Pixel 7 (not pro) and Iphone 14 (not pro/max) that I had a much harder time deciding, but once being a bit more realistic with my use case and budget, decided the 7 pro is worth it, and when it comes to a "starting point" it definitely seems to get the closest to "ready to edit", natural just shot look, but not bad if shared as is. Very respectable quality in most cases, and bordering perfect tones/colors in a smaller portion. That smaller portion basically never exists for me with the other two. Samsungs hyper saturation, warm contrasty thing is amazing shooting people with really fair skin, and I love the look of it shooting outdoors, but I think Iphone and Samsung reveal their weaknesses (less strengths? 2nd strengths? still not bad phones by any stretch, just remember what your first android photos looked like...) when there is a complex scene, or detail needed in a human subject. Pixel still does a few odd things at times, but 7/10 times I think it does well enough I wouldn't be hunting for settings for a retake. That's amazing, because it almost nullifies carrying any other cameras except for an action cam or something video specific-- To be fair on that front- I think Iphone still shoots the best videos if you don't need large format, just shooting a youtube clip etc. Hard to complain, they have it dialed it.
8:25 may we know how much it was zoomed in? Without context it means nothing because if it’s between 5x and 10x it is normal for Pixel to be better since Pixel would be zooming from the periscope but S22 Ultra from 3x.
Pixel: 20, Samsung: 17, iPhone: 2. 😅 Iphone is definitely not my cup of tea. Better mute the video while watching and so that you don't get influenced by their opinions. Interesting video.
Two professional photographers and apple fans who know perfectly well which phone took which photos picks the best photos in a 'blind test'. A very good test.🤣
Oh damn how all good picture quality from all three. I myself am an iPhone 13 Pro Max user, of course the best photos come in sunlight, but night photography is also very convincing. The iPhone's cameras are really good, but what I like the most is the app, it's really simple to use and hasn't bugged once during my use. But smartphone cameras can do really well and I can't wait to see what the next years will bring to cameras
Are you trying to defend the S22? This is an unbiased test and votes are coming from professional photographers and they picked the S22 the least. Both Samsung and Apple were beaten by the Pixel again. In both MKBHD’s test votes coming from mostly casual users and then in this test votes coming from professional photographers.

I wouldn't call the iPhone's processing "very over processed" but I don't like how saturated, vibrant, over sharpened it can be sometimes. Also, whenever i try to get a quick shot, almost all the time if I dont check the exposure, the sky ends up being very overexposed.
Watching this on my new pixel 7 pro....happy to see it took the win but I think it all comes down to the photographer given the phones are all pretty good
As a photographer I can say this comparison sometimes looks stupid! One of the photographers even chooses the photo from the samsung and them votes on the iPhone (kid in the snow) and says sorry samsung... Also on the first telephoto example the samsung is a clear winner, all of these iPhone users are completely biased... Pixel is actually quite good but overall the samsung is on par just like the iphone, to be honest, all of these are great phones it depends on the situation and choosing between them is going to be about overall user preferences regarding the UI... Pixel 1st , Samsung close 2nd and iPhone last by far....
I have seen so many comparison videos and all differ. Some have the s22 ultra wiping the floor with the competition. Others, like this video have the s22 ultra struggling. It's purely down to each individual and how our eyes view the shots/pictures taken. I have the s22 ultra and I can positively say it is a very good camera and video camera. I've taken various shots using all of the lenses and for the most part I'm impressed. With time, the various updates will improve the cameras on all the top end phones, one would assume.
I think the main reason is that the s22 has 2 different processor options and depending on the country you get one or another, that makes a big difference in camera, I was just thinking that anyone in the comments mentioned it. Would love to know what s22 they have and would love to get my hands on a pixel one day too.
@Nícolas Silva I have the s22 ultra with the Exynos chip. I'm in England where we are one of several countries to have that particular chip. Apparently samsung are not keen on it and they are sticking with the snapdragon chipset. Why we don't get that is beyond me.
I have just watched until 11:41 but it seems the iPhone is mostly a bit warmer, sharper and has good contrasts in the mid tones, the Pixel is neutral with contrasts trough the dark shadow parts and the Samsung is often a bit blurry with brighter colors that seem a bit off. I am not sure about how doing photos with an iPhone pro 14 feels like, but the photos of my regular iPhone 13 give me the feeling there is much processing and filters in them. The photos look good, but they don‘t look real somehow
Hey Max, i think you should do this test a bit differently where you ask for first second and third position. It will be great to know which device is the second winner.
I would like that shutter speed should be discussed more. You mentioned that pixel took 7 sec in night mode. What I would prefer a faster phone because most of the times the man standing for the shot won’t wait that long. And as I like to do street photography. What it mean take pictures fast the second you notice something happens. I was a Samsung user and switched to iPhone. And it takes me much faster and successfully to shot on street when unexpected situations occurs.
But outside of night time photos, Pixel has great shutter speed. It is Samsung who is really lacking. I paid a bunch of money for a flagship Samsung a couple years ago and was so depressed seeing the blurry photos I was getting with it when I took it on a trip.
@@ElectricC0mpany agree and I'm surprised noone takes notice of this. So many camera comparisons and hardly anyone mentions shutter lag and motion blur. I am considering skipping S23 Ultra because I'm sure it will still have this issue.
Long time Samsung user here. Samsung always impresses with hardware specs, but completely drops the ball on image rendering. They just can't develop the right software. Their older gen phones like the S8+ and S9+ had better results with lesser hardware. Samsung would be better off partnering with Google so you get the hardware and software performance.

Nice comparison from a professional perspective. I own Pixel 7 Pro and is definitely a surprise in every situation. Just put out from the pocket, double click on the power button and in 1 second and a half you have an awesome pic in every scenario. I really enjoy this piece of tech!

I think the guy never took the time to properly manually tune the phones and took most shots in auto mode (vs Pro).

i recently bought a p7 pro, i can agree that the photos it takes are excellent.
@@enlnh Samsung definitely does not look natural in my opinion. They just smooth faces way too much.
ExpertRaw has more control on S22 Ultra and the selfie camera is available in RAW as well. Trust me it's mind boggling what you can do with it.

I use the Pixel 7 pro and it is really good. I live about 40 miles from mt Rainier and i zoom in 30x and i can see every small detail of the mountain no matter the lighting with the exception of nighttime. I highly reccomend it.

After viewing this video I realize I made the right choice, I always picked the Pixel 7 Pro photos and videos when it mattered but others phones when all the pictures just didn't look right. I am so happy to find this video.
Despite the Pixel being the underdog in terms of specs, it's killing it out there... Phenomenal job by Google once again!

When you take photos with the samsung don't use the 108 pxl when it's in a bright or dark area bc it's not HDR use the second choice and make sure to turn Auto HDR on , Hight efficiency pictures on, and scène optimiser on
Yeah, not point and shoot with 108. 108 camera requires very certian cercumstancis
If I were you I'll wait for the pixel 8 pro instead for better charging speed and who knows better hardware, design and material.

MKBHD is overrated
That's why this is subjective. I didn't agree with almost every pic these "professional" photographers thought about.
Come to android.

I love the way the comparison was done, good job with the pro-photographer
I have a pixel 7 pro and installed the gcam 8.7 APK - highly highly recommended. You have even more control over many aspects of the camera, especially HDR+ and white balance.
Google AI does adapt over time, btw . Mine was producing photos that's were way too blue/cold at first. So I had the temp and exposure sliders active, and adjusted the temp to warmer most times. But now it's learned my preference and I don't really need the sliders anymore
I love my Pixel 7 Pro. I bought a holder for night shots to keep it steady and it's pretty damn good in the dark!
What if the manufacturers looked at a video like this and said: hey, let’s fix that in our next big OS upgrade?
I can't be a more proud pixel user.
I think the time it takes to take night pics can be either reduced or increased in the night sight slider. It varies from 2secs to I think 10secs
one improvement i would make for this series is to give a ranking for each picture so we know the difference between second and third aswell as first
Can you do an unbiased comparison between 48mp proraw, 108mp expert raw and pixel 7 pro's 50mp mode (which doesn't allow you to shoot in 50mp btw)
8:25 may we know how much it was zoomed in? Without context it means nothing because if it’s between 5x and 10x it is normal for Pixel to be better since Pixel would be zooming from the periscope but S22 Ultra from 3x.
I just absolutely love your content!! Such great videos!!
Pixel: 20, Samsung: 17, iPhone: 2. 😅 Iphone is definitely not my cup of tea. Better mute the video while watching and so that you don't get influenced by their opinions. Interesting video.

Didn't expect the Pixel to be this good.
I think you should have them do the MKBHD blind photo test and see how that goes with 16 phones in the mix!
I have to say S22U is overrated. Video is terrible and have had frames skip. Motion blur and shutter lag still evident.
@@mrkring1526 I've had none of that. The 4k & 8k video shooting is superb.
Personally I got:
Samsung 20
Pixel 12
iPhone 6
I was looking for a shape well lit and rich picture, with minimum processing.
Nice job, Pixel! Hoping they keep improving video quality for when I eventually upgrade my Pixel 7 Pro.
