When it comes to computational photography google is next level. Even if you use their Gcam port for other midrange Android devices their software can do magic and turn a bad camera phone into a great camera phone ...
I'd like to see a 3-way comparison between the Iphone14 Pro, Pixel7 Pro, and S22 Ultra. Maybe even throw in a 4th phone for good measure. Anyway, other than the clickbait title, this was a decent comparison.
Curious to see why you would want to compare when the other devices cost much more than P7PRO? How would you factor that in? I've never seen a phone take better pictures than a Pixel. Videos sure. Pictures no, no matter what the hardware even Asus/OPPO/Samsung/Motorola with all those megapixels. Still oversaturated. Also, Google makes Android so why would you buy an Android phone from Samsung? They're glitchy unsafe UI on top yuck. I'll trust the original maker Google every time over them.
Not much point. Samsung would wins because they have improved the camera software since the phone came out; I don't think Apple ever tweaked the camera after release. And Pixel 7 Pro is half the price of the other 2 if you know how to stack discounts
The fact is, you can shoot portrait shoot without portrait mode on pixel 7 pro using 5x zoomlense and create real optical depht of field, same tecnique that uses by street photographer usualy
iPhone tunes photos before you even edit them. They don't look life-like at all. The colours are vibrant, the sharpness, contrast and light is also increased. That's not an accurate representation of what is there.
Apart from Video where the iPhone won and night mode where the pixel won (along with zoom obviously), it looks like you were demonstrating how hit and miss both phones are in those tests. Computational photography works sometimes and not others. It's more a testament of how those pics are randomly good or bad.
Actually the pixel does show changes before the picture is processed so the guy on the left is incorrect. Via colour temperature, HDR and exposure. It's a cool feature.
I have been using Pixel 2 XL for the last 4 years and i compare with my friends iphone 11 and 13, beleive me the photos taken by Pixel is very sharp and clear than 11 and 13 even. Ya the videos on 13 is excellent. My opinion if you take photos more, go for Pixel, fir videos it is 13,14.

Tbh the iphone 14 plus never stood a chance against the photo prowess of the Pixel 7 Pro. The Pixel should compete with the 14 Pro max, S22U, Vivo X80 Pro, Xiaomi 12S etc.
You’re right, it does compete with those phones, but it’s priced like the S22+ or iPhone 14+, not the Pro/Ultra models. Great value phone, though the standard 7 is even better value for money!
Let's not forget, the iPhone 14 Pro camera had stabilization issues at launch as well. Google always releases an update about a month after the release that addresses alot of the launch bugs so let's wait and see if the video improves, I haven't seen nearly this much shake on the Pixel in other comparisons.
I was spot the same that for some reason on this comparison pixels stabilisation looked like trash as opposed on others it was beating any of the.. dont know what went wrong for them 😅
I dunno guys, I am an amateur DSLR photographer (been doing it for about 20 years now), and I have to say I am very uninspired by all of these photos, I have a Nikon D750 with a 50mm f/1.4 and 105mm MICRO lense, and both those lenses on that camera just wee all over over these photos in terms of dynamic range, focus and detail. Everyone keeps saying how close the new phones are to DSLR, but I don’t see it, these photos are just crap IMO…. I really look forward to the day when I can get DSLR photos out of such a compact device without all the weight and bulkiness, but I want quality over happy snaps, and the phones just aren’t there yet. Would love to see if you could invest in a D750 with the basic 50mm f/1.4 lens using auto metering and spot focusing on the subject and show us the comparisons then, I feel that the D750 would win every photo.
I love these vids. It amazes me how important software has become in creating a camera system. It's pretty clear that despite inferior processing and slightly less capable camera hardware, that software allows the Pixel to create better photos than the Iphone. It's also interesting that the Iphone's advantage in video is largely a result of software. Someday, a big camera manufacturer (Sony, Canon, Nikon) will fully embrace software to allow for even better tools.
Pixel started the computational photography and they are killing it with their software especially in night mode. But they need to catch up in the video department...
Still waiting for my 14 Pro Max to be shipped but boy am I tempted to cancel it for the Pixel 7 Pro. I’m really concerned with the Pixel having only 3 years of software updates tho…
@@simply6162 thats the thing. the iPhone prices are just insane. as for refurbed 13 Pros, Amazon is just asking too much for them. i’m actually considering the Pixel for its better camera, slightly better display and pricing… but i can’t just overlook how iPhones promise 5 years of software updates and its proven track record of iPhones just working without too much of a hassle. Pixel will probably take a better point and shoot photos in the majority of circumstances - and that’s about it. iPhone > Pixel in pretty much every other way that matters.
Great comparison guys, but I would love to see images taken in RAW and processed in Lightroom or some other software. One daylight and one night shot would suffice. Just to have an idea of the true potential of the sensor.
@@NegativoZ06 because everyone clueless, taking a raw photo and letting the ai fix the photo generally fixes everything while looking 2x better than a normal jpeg. After that export the raw dng to jpeg and it all took 15 seconds max
with the two phones on the video, I think only the Pixel can shoot RAW.. you have to buy the Pro variant on the iPhone side to be able to shoot RAW .. so for the price. . Pixel wins by default.
Hey Max, how about more transparent categories for the next unbiased comparison? Like first show all tele photos, then portrait, then macro, then night, then video etc. This way you could have a different winner for each category. You said you only took 4 tele photos, but this wouldnt matter in categories, because the telephotos help pixel to win that category only no matter how many telephotos you take (and same with iphone and videos). In the end we can see who won most categories
It is a good idea, but, I think that the way they do this is more close to what a person who own a phone do photos in real life, not dividing by categories.
Good idea but then basically the iPhone would have only one the category of video and video alone, but putting it into a category would have made it less unbiased, because they all iPhone users on a dialy basis and they could have specifically tried identifying the iPhone picture from what they think it was, 13/22 pixel won by far
I love my pixel 7pro but the only disappointment is portrait mode. I love using portraits! They used to be the king of portraits. Same issue on the 6pro so I'm not hopeful about camera updates fixing it. I had the 6 pro for a year and after a bunch of updates it never fixed it
I'm completely satisfied with your efforts to analyze this discussion of camera comparison. But I'm really affected much by pixel's camera performance in this video. Love you guys!! Michael.
There’s a couple of points that hardly any reviewers are bring up. 7 generations in and the Pixel STILL doesn’t give you a live preview for portrait mode, which is important for composition. Also the cinematic mode is only 1080p and the blur doesn’t adjust with the distance. In Tyler Stalman’s video the Pixel cinematic video looks awful. It’s one area where the iPhones much greater processing power really helps
The cinematic mode looks gimmicky and horrendous on both phones, worse on pixel? Sure but I wouldn't use it on either. The "much greater processing power" of the iphone is not what helps cinematic modes it's the fact that this is googles first attempt at cinematic mode and it'll be greatly improved through software updates.
@@hugowells3052 your words "there's a couple of points that hardly any reviewers are bringing up".... And one of the points you mentioned was cinematic mode... As I said, every single reviewer has talked about cinematic mode on the pixel and how terrible it is.
@@JandersC It looks a hell of a lot better on the iPhone. Watch any video comparing the two. And the fact that the iPhone can do it in 4k is processing power. It being first Gen is no excuse. The iPhone looked much better in its first generation
I like how both pixel and iphone fans in the comments are screaming that the video is biased against them. If you really care about photos you'll get a more nuanced info than the final score anyways. Although if you split the comparison into categories such as: Portrait, VIdeo, Zoom, HDR, etc... maybe it would be easier for people to take away more usefull information and decide on what they care about the most.
All the people crying for the uneven match of the iPhone pro that cost more, but they're just such apple sheep. They don't realize that fact or are in denial! GOLD!!! Bahahahah I didn't even need to watch the video to know the answer. The Pixel is clearly a superior device even at a lower price point. Shame on Apple!
It's not accurate lol there's alot you missing like white tone saturation and fairing creating the yellowish look when I. Reality it's either warm or not
The yellow tone of the iPhone is independent from the sun no matter the time of the day, even at noon where the light spectrum is more white (fun fact: the sun actual color is white and the yellow tone is because of the earth atmosphere) My best guess is that most people tend to prefer that warm tone from the iPhone and that the vast majority of people don’t know how or don’t want to adjust their photos themselves.
It's insane how well Pixel can do with all those smaller pixels in low light. Looking at the sensor features alone, Apple should easily win in low light photography if they had equally well software.
Except few videos and portrait photography moments, Pixel 7 Pro's cameras are brilliant. We love Google Pixels 7 series phones. And please carry out full camera comparison Pixel 7 Pro and Apple. iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Different price bracket hence he took the Plus because it was the closest one priced to the pixel, the test was more about price to performance, meaning anything in the apple range below the 14 pro or pro max isn't worth the price tag or your time
Because you could do much better for cheaper and in some markets get the watch with it as well, so price to performance was the main reflection here, and you could see they were quite salty that the iPhone couldn't compete
Here in India, it isn't even a competition. iPhone 7 pro is almost 50% more expensive and pro max around 70% more relative to Pixel 7 pro. For the price, the Pixel is bang for bucks if photography is the main requirement. Heck, I could get a Pixel and the latest GoPro and it will still cost less than the iPhone 7 pro max. If telephoto isn't critical, Pixel 7 is the best you can buy.
yes pls 599$ is my song my xs max fail me today after replacing a new screen and battery it stoped charging after few months and I need a brand new phone
In my opinion the worthy competitor for the pixel 7 pro based on features is the iPhone 14 pro. It’s a little more expensive so the phone should be better to compensate for the price difference. Since the camera system is the same on the 14 pro and pro max , looking forward to that!
@@GreatOne0815 Apple products rarely beat others on best value, thus I would never say it’s better for the price however I’m curious how the pro lines stack up against one another feature wise.
I think it will be best to wait for S23 to come out as it's basically different generations and this video has been done already I have seen that before, when is the expected date of the S23 coming
Actually, on the second photo there is much more details on the right photo. Also the colours are more accurate and without background blur the photo looks more realistic instead processed.
Help me out here. Why do reviewers always want more blurred backgrounds in their shots? I always want more clarity in my pictures, but almost every review I watch, gives higher marks to the blurred backgrounds.

Don't bother. Neither the 14 or 7 Pro to me touch the 22 Ultra. I was so disappointed.
Mrwhostheboss did a really good comparison between iPhone and Samsung.

Its true, pixel pro user doesn't use portrait mode at all.
Exactly you can create this effect naturally without software I look forward to trying this with the 5x shooter in the Pixel 7 Pro
It's pretty clear the iphone basically oversaturates the photos because that's what people prefer
Yes thats the reason, people like "fake" photos over real.
The orange glow from the sun is always better seen in iPhone photos. And I love that a lot.
Their excited smile tells alot when they say “iPhonee…….”
They are iphone fans
wait, was the shot of the watch a crop vs a macro?? are y'all seriously comparing photos like that???
iPhone tunes photos before you even edit them. They don't look life-like at all. The colours are vibrant, the sharpness, contrast and light is also increased. That's not an accurate representation of what is there.
15:22 not a fair test. iPhone using screen light. You can use the pixel to do the same, just the guy didn't use it
Why do they sound so disappointed when they find out the picture they chose wasn't an iPhone? lol
Apart from Video where the iPhone won and night mode where the pixel won (along with zoom obviously), it looks like you were demonstrating how hit and miss both phones are in those tests. Computational photography works sometimes and not others. It's more a testament of how those pics are randomly good or bad.
And here I am, watching comparisons of phones that I can´t buy.
Love these video compares. Thank you!
Actually the pixel does show changes before the picture is processed so the guy on the left is incorrect. Via colour temperature, HDR and exposure. It's a cool feature.
Pixel 7 Pro video needs some fine tuning, but it's getting better. It's inconsistent.
IPhone 15 Pro will have usb-C (called Omegabolt Max) and 5x optical (Dream Reach, trademark pending)
We're all so easy to manipulate by marketing.
For tests like these a third picture from a DSLR is much more important as a test control.
That's actually a great idea but then they should select two photos because 100 percent of the time the DSLR will be in

Until iPhone joined
Tbh the iphone 14 plus never stood a chance against the photo prowess of the Pixel 7 Pro. The Pixel should compete with the 14 Pro max, S22U, Vivo X80 Pro, Xiaomi 12S etc.
You’re right, it does compete with those phones, but it’s priced like the S22+ or iPhone 14+, not the Pro/Ultra models. Great value phone, though the standard 7 is even better value for money!
Isn't apple that have a team of eight hundred people working only on camera department?
Let's not forget, the iPhone 14 Pro camera had stabilization issues at launch as well. Google always releases an update about a month after the release that addresses alot of the launch bugs so let's wait and see if the video improves, I haven't seen nearly this much shake on the Pixel in other comparisons.
I was spot the same that for some reason on this comparison pixels stabilisation looked like trash as opposed on others it was beating any of the.. dont know what went wrong for them 😅
You guys are great, thoroughly enjoyed the video.
More videos like these please.
The iPhone lights up the screen at night while taking night-mode selfies, hence the added brightness. Also in selfie videos, Pixel 7/pro is better.
Selfie videos look better on the iPhone. Also it has autofocus, a default win.
Pixel phones will light up the screen for selfies too but Max never turns it on.
Why take a photo when you can take a video and have thousands of photos 😂
"Noise, artifacts..."
Pixel 7 pro has a better hardware zoom too.
Iphone 14 Plus: 13
Google Pixel 7 Pro: 22
Winner: Google Pixel 7 Pro
Still waiting for my 14 Pro Max to be shipped but boy am I tempted to cancel it for the Pixel 7 Pro. I’m really concerned with the Pixel having only 3 years of software updates tho…
GO for pixel if you wanna suffer
@@simply6162 🤣
1 in 300,000 people use raw images
@@NegativoZ06 because everyone clueless, taking a raw photo and letting the ai fix the photo generally fixes everything while looking 2x better than a normal jpeg. After that export the raw dng to jpeg and it all took 15 seconds max

Good idea but then basically the iPhone would have only one the category of video and video alone, but putting it into a category would have made it less unbiased, because they all iPhone users on a dialy basis and they could have specifically tried identifying the iPhone picture from what they think it was, 13/22 pixel won by far
while watching the video, i react "wow" in unison with Vadim & Angelika lol
iPhone 17
Pixel 22

You should do a video comparing the 14 pro vs the 7 pro
I love my pixel 7pro but the only disappointment is portrait mode. I love using portraits! They used to be the king of portraits. Same issue on the 6pro so I'm not hopeful about camera updates fixing it. I had the 6 pro for a year and after a bunch of updates it never fixed it
Hi mate, just use the optical x5 zoom.
@@MrCarloxherrera that makes no sense
@@jerradmechals1 portrait mode is a gimmick. With the P7pro sensor and optical x5 zoom, you can achieve a kinda decent bokeh.

You mean most iPhone pics have a greenish incorrect tint.
Is like comparing iphone 13 vs Pixel 7Pro bad comparison guys, compare with the 14PRO MAX with RAW photos
I'm completely satisfied with your efforts to analyze this discussion of camera comparison.
But I'm really affected much by pixel's camera performance in this video.
Love you guys!!
Michael.
Easy to tell between the two. Pixel is a little under exposed while the iPhone is overexposed in some cases.
Every reviewer talks about the cinematic mode... Don't know where you got that from
@@rajnibrown2194 Read my comment again. They mention it, but not how bad it is
The cinematic mode looks gimmicky and horrendous on both phones, worse on pixel?
18:20 ok wtf was that Tim 😭🤣
I like how both pixel and iphone fans in the comments are screaming that the video is biased against them. If you really care about photos you'll get a more nuanced info than the final score anyways. Although if you split the comparison into categories such as: Portrait, VIdeo, Zoom, HDR, etc... maybe it would be easier for people to take away more usefull information and decide on what they care about the most.
Watch the video again in general the HDR on the iPhone was very terrible even though the picture was chosen?
The pixel can update video and make it better. Heaps better than before though. Thanks for the vid. From Victoria, Australia. 😉🍻
Pixel 7 pro has better white balance and better portraits
the pixel here just seem to handle a much wider variety of lighting
All the people crying for the uneven match of the iPhone pro that cost more, but they're just such apple sheep. They don't realize that fact or are in denial! GOLD!!! Bahahahah
I didn't even need to watch the video to know the answer. The Pixel is clearly a superior device even at a lower price point. Shame on Apple!
It is really easy to spot what phone took the picture on left or right as the iPhones have this yellowish/warm tone on every single one of them
which means it is generally more accurate because the light from the sun is yellow/warm tone
It's not accurate lol there's alot you missing like white tone saturation and fairing creating the yellowish look when I. Reality it's either warm or not
@@rebel2809 are you telling me if a person has the sun shining on him his always yellow in complexion hahahahahaha this is really funny hahahaha
So what you telling me taking different photos at different times of the day hahahaha means nothing ahahahahahahahahahahahaha
The yellow tone of the iPhone is independent from the sun no matter the time of the day, even at noon where the light spectrum is more white (fun fact: the sun actual color is white and the yellow tone is because of the earth atmosphere)
My best guess is that most people tend to prefer that warm tone from the iPhone and that the vast majority of people don’t know how or don’t want to adjust their photos themselves.
It's insane how well Pixel can do with all those smaller pixels in low light. Looking at the sensor features alone, Apple should easily win in low light photography if they had equally well software.
I literally picked the pixel in every single photo before knowing it was the pixel until around the 10th photo
So, the 14 pro vs Pixel pro?
Except few videos and portrait photography moments, Pixel 7 Pro's cameras are brilliant.
We love Google Pixels 7 series phones.

For the price, the Pixel is bang for bucks if photography is the main requirement. Heck, I could get a Pixel and the latest GoPro and it will still cost less than the iPhone 7 pro max.
