Despite the years that have passed, Nelly Furtado Still has the power to tug at my hearstrings and remind me of the simple joys of life , its a nostalgic journey back to a time filled with Joy, love and laughter

@@russlane Folklore is an incredible album. All three of those first ones are so, so good but I agree that Folklore got slept on big-time. I think it was the best of the three and got the least attention.
Didn't know her personality... I'm impressed, not all the artists take the time to introduce the band. That's why I like Tiny Desk, you also get to know a bit of the artist's personality, besides seing them sing fo' real 🤯
She still sounds stellar. She looks even more incredible now than in her earlier youth. One of the guiltiest pleasures that became my favorite music-listening pastime has always been digitally digging through my folk pop and post-folk pop crates to pick out an album from her underrated catalog. Thank you for making my adolescence that much more meaningful and poignant, Nelly Furtado. You were excellent here and so was your band. I'm extremely proud of you.
@@emilreads I had a long message and clicked off of this mini-screen like an idiot. I was basically going to concur with you about "Folkore" being one of the most underrated records of all time because I "NEVER" hear it receive acclaim, critically or even from her own aficionados (Besides myself.). "One Trick Pony", Childhood Dreams", "Picture Perfec"), "Try", and My Personal Favorite (I was pleasantly surprised and amazed by her as well as her band pulling off that epic rendition of it on here.) "Explode" opened up parts of my brain that no other music had at that time. It was unabashedly poignant, heart-wrenching, and simultaneously optimistic in significant segments of its cohesive entirety.
I remember she was the only pop singer who refused to take up autotune when it arrived. It was revolutionary and became an industry standard for sound engineers to fix it in the mix. Clearly she has never needed it. Fantastic band too
Autotune does not make singers sound good - it is a vocal effect, which is exactly how artists like T-Pain used it (he can absolutely sing, check out his recent concert Live from The Sun Rose). All artists (especially major pop artists) have used what is called pitch-correction software for ages - that is a subtle technology that fixes the "imperfections" in a singer's voice (ex. if they're "almost" singing a certain note then it'll correct the pitch to have them sing exactly the right note). Even here though...it doesn't mean that someone who doesn't know how to sing will suddenly sound amazing, it's more like spellcheck when you're writing, you still have to know how to write, it just cleans up the typos. All of this to say - I hate how much there is a myth around that T-Pain used autotune because he didn't know how to sing, which is totally untrue and misunderstands what autotune is and why he used it.
lets be honest, most people don't really know what auto-tune is... its alot more than just the typical T-Pain style vocals... They all use some pitch corrections in studio recordings, and she absolutely made use of it too.

Oh man, I haven't seen Anjulie in a minute. I used to follow her since the myspace days
She drops but not as much. This video made me check out her music again. I hope she drops again soon.
@@beegee7270 My first intro to her was "Boom". Heard it during her myspace run. I was a supporter since then. "Boom" still holds up.
@@Heron.DemarcoI agree with this statement. I’m back on a listening run with her music.
I never heard of her but she actually does have new music out.
Love this! Can’t believe she performed “Explode”, one of my favourites. She didn’t even do half her hits because she has so many - honestly she has such an epic discography.
My exact sentiments 😊
Fellow "Explode" lover here, I hadn't read the setlist of she songs she performed and was stoked when she started singing it :)
The two folklore tracks made me so happy
yes! I love her album Folklore (all her albums too) but that one is soooo good and I'm so glad these were included with all her other amazing songs
I love Explode, one of my faves from an awesome album
This rendition of All Good Things (Come To An End) moved me to tears, it’s my new favorite song of hers
I'm not even a Nelly fan, but this Tiny Desk Concert is comforting in an odd way. I've replayed it twice already.
What purpose did it serve to let everyone know you're not a fan of hers?
@@Mike-fd1lq Um?? Because I like this concert a lot despite not being a regular listener of Nelly's music.
Run those numbers up!!!
Sounds like you're a fan now
Yesss!!!! Same!!!
This is crazy, just yesterday I was thinking;"Is Nelly Furtado still performing?". Wow!
literally same!!!
So sweet to see her back :)
She just performed this weekend in Mexico City, she was amazing
Looks like she never stopped. B R A V A!!
They honored her at the Canadian version of the Grammys and she did a mix of songs louve and sounds like she did In 2000
@@danieltongaww Saw it - didn't thrill me like this one definitely did tho ... utterly charming.
Despite the years that have passed, Nelly Furtado Still has the power to tug at my hearstrings and remind me of the simple joys of life , its a nostalgic journey back to a time filled with Joy, love and laughter
I’ve been a huge fan of Nelly Furtado ever since I heard I’m like a bird. I’m so happy to see her get her own tiny desk concert.
Explode!!! Folklore!! Omg. I need to do a relisten. Such an underrated album
The one we all have been waiting for!!! Nelly killed and served!!!
WELCOME BACK NELLY FURTADO!! 🔥
Goosebumps!! Nelly Furtado will forever be one of my favorite pop artists! She’s just so sweet and talented!!
I’m caught myself smiling multiple times during this. Thank you Nelly and the band. ❤
I'm crying, it's divine, how cool she is and what a cool band
All Good Things (Come to an End) is one of my all time favorite songs. ❤️
I'm 20 years old n I am just now discovering thru this video that she's behind all these universal hits n I'm literally like "wait WHAAAAAT! THIS IS HER TOOOO" every two minutes XD
Sameeee
Well as a 39 years I’m also surprised how familiar these all are to me, good songs.
she was the biggest pop star in 2006. it was hit after hit after hit w Nelly.
same
Ladies & Gentlemen: NELLY FURTADO!
She seems like such a genuine person..
Crazy to see the contrast between her and her music
Love it!
Ok now I’m going to all of her albums on Spotify. I didn’t realize she was so creative
Folklore got upsettingly slept on ...
I love her altpop album The Ride so much
@@russlane Folklore is an incredible album. All three of those first ones are so, so good but I agree that Folklore got slept on big-time. I think it was the best of the three and got the least attention.
Didn't know her personality... I'm impressed, not all the artists take the time to introduce the band. That's why I like Tiny Desk, you also get to know a bit of the artist's personality, besides seing them sing fo' real 🤯
every artists on tiny desk did lol
The band themselves looked like they had so much fun with this. They sounded great as well
I agree.
You said it so right!! She's also the sountrack of my early teens (along with Dido) and Folklore is one of the most underrated records out there!
She and Chili from TLC must have found the fountain of Youth
She thicc thicc too. Man she was my crush back then.
I remember she was the only pop singer who refused to take up autotune when it arrived. It was revolutionary and became an industry standard for sound engineers to fix it in the mix. Clearly she has never needed it. Fantastic band too
And the only artist that made his singing worse with auto tune was T-Pain - let that sink in
Autotune does not make singers sound good - it is a vocal effect, which is exactly how artists like T-Pain used it (he can absolutely sing, check out his recent concert Live from The Sun Rose).
I haven’t seen or heard from Nelly for years, this was great. This whole set would get you moving. I’m almost 80 and I enjoyed it a lot.👍👍🇨🇦
This is so awesome to see her do this tiny desk concert. She looks and sounds amazing and can flow. Brilliant. I’ll be playing this all summer.
