The microphone in question has a hypercardioid polar pattern, which makes it pick up signal from further away and it's also used for us to hear her sing!
periurban could have used some pitch correction here and there. Flat and off key in spots as well as nasally. Painful at times. I was surprised because she's usually great.
This was actually my first official exposure to Adele, and I was so taken aback by the contrast between her speaking and singing voices. She speaks so softly and almost timidly, but then she starts singing with one of the most commanding and powerful voices I've ever heard. Astounding artist.
What a nice first experience. I still can’t find the first video I ever saw of her. It’s her and her guitar player on the beach I think singing rolling in the deep?
Well actually.. tbh... Every, I mean EVERY TIME she hits the "high" notes, I get SUPER stressed because it sounds like she is straining.... I'm always like oh I hope she can hit the notes... 😶🙊
Love that she's still got her coat and gloves on and her bag on her shoulder. Like "yeah hold on let me just sing a few songs for these people for a minute then we'll go to the bar"
Many moons ago, my friend who had followed her heart to Ireland told me of this amazing singer over there and that I should have a listen. Of course 'Chasing Pavements' was the song to hear and I fell in love. Then after returning back home to Toronto, my friend surprised me one night with tickets to go see Adele at Massey Hall (40$ a ticket too). On stage appeared the shy Adele adorned in a stripped t-shirt and leggings, and no shoes, just socks. She was humble as she gushed over our city (of course as they do) and just sat on the stool in the middle of the stage. It felt like I was sitting in her home listening to her belt out her ballads of moments in her life that had torn her apart and sewn her back together again. It truly was a magical night that I will never forget.
I’m from Toronto(ish) too and I would have loved to see that show. The two best concerts of my life were at Massey Hall; Joe Jackson in ‘82 and Regina Spektor earlier this year

@@mr.monotonous6659 They said Adele was "over there" in Ireland where their friend followed their heart to go, and never said Adele was Irish or from there. Adele was in Ireland many times, but for sure specificcally on tour in 2008 when Chasing Pavements was 'the song to hear" because it was literally the song the show ended on. Nice "nice try though" try, though. Don't be insufferable. Nobody thinks you're cool; even you -- being a snotty person is the easiest laziest thing to do. Expect more from yourself. Nobody was being weird or antagonistic. It was someone sharing a nice story in a nice video of music. Since nobody's that fragile, next time you feel like saying something like that, don't, and move on.
If there is, it's very subtle. And she is some distance away from the mic, which is different than holding the mic 2 cm from her lips, like most weak singers do. I'm no expert, but I think she's for real a few classes above any other pop stars.
A crappy little office, but with great microphones is in some ways the best of all possible venues, because even the best singers will do even better in an intimate setting than a big venue. You can underestimate the power of looking directly into people's eyes when emoting to them.

NPR really does an amazing job at providing truly Raw showings of artists. After being introduced to the music scene, I’ve never felt music stronger than in small performances like these. Tiny Desk is the Perfect example of this. No big audio controller to change everything like a big stage show, no editing from recordings, just pure, unfiltered joy ringing from the musicians expressing their emotions. This platform has made me truly love my favorites on a whole new level, when I know it’s hard to get into small shows on big artists. Thank you, NPR, I’ve overlooked Adele for years and this video made me realize how good she actually is.

For the audiophiles .. we understand the zoom because we are listening to every lisp, hiss and smack.. and watching this close up i can't believe that she actually sounds exactly like she looks like she should sound. absolute talent.
It's a masterclass is "less is more" and telling stories. I love the guitar player - his eyes are closed nearly throughout 'Someone Like You', completely immersed and letting the whole experience wash over him. What a privilege, sat next to Adele while she sings her heart out like always but in such close proximity.
This! Yes, in the tiny desk version you can see Adele channeling through the emotions. Raw, real, gives me the chills, The radio version of the song is too loud, overproduced, busy. She belts out the song more like Streisand.
And no one mention she is singing this perfect while sitting down! If you are a singer you know how difficult this is, specially while hitting those high notes. I am so excited I'll get to see her live in Las Vegas this upcoming November.
@@alejandrapedrozo Best concert of my life. The fact the she sounds as or better than her studio albums is amazing. The concert felt so short even tho it was 2 hrs.

FACTS
Ugh yes 😭 would have been unreal
That's exactly what I was thinking!
Plenty
💯💯💯
For the audiophiles .. we understand the zoom because we are listening to every lisp, hiss and smack.. and watching this close up i can't believe that she actually sounds exactly like she looks like she should sound. absolute talent.
It's a masterclass is "less is more" and telling stories. I love the guitar player - his eyes are closed nearly throughout 'Someone Like You', completely immersed and letting the whole experience wash over him. What a privilege, sat next to Adele while she sings her heart out like always but in such close proximity.
You'll be happy to know that the guitarist is her friend from school and has been playing with her the entire time :) Awesome performance.
Her voice is MAGICAL. Makes you feel all the feelings, good or sad.
It amazes me how her voice is so soft when she speaks and so POWERFUL when she sings! 😍
Alternative/Rap fan here but something about this women's voice. You can see her channeling the real emotions that led to the album. Incredible
This! Yes, in the tiny desk version you can see Adele channeling through the emotions. Raw, real, gives me the chills, The radio version of the song is too loud, overproduced, busy. She belts out the song more like Streisand.
Camerman was reading through the instruction manual while recording this. I think he nailed the chapter on Zooming! Good job
And needs to be fired 🤦🏽♀️
Lost of first love is something no one ever gets truly over. Adele expresses it so well. God it hurts sometime.
And no one mention she is singing this perfect while sitting down! If you are a singer you know how difficult this is, specially while hitting those high notes. I am so excited I'll get to see her live in Las Vegas this upcoming November.
How was her concert?
@@alejandrapedrozo Best concert of my life. The fact the she sounds as or better than her studio albums is amazing. The concert felt so short even tho it was 2 hrs.
This woman is one the finest songwriters and singers our United Kingdom has ever produced. She has light and shade, power and passion, and just superb vocal control, range and tone
weasel210672 Florence and the Machine too
Rafael S No
robleake yes
Indeed.
Adele: I hope you see my face

eddy J Fantastic.

I can’t even put into words how much I love her voice. Incredible. 🫶🏼❤️
