what do you guys think of this one? let me know! got a fun series coming soon: i've started a challenge where i'm going to apply all these concepts and SHOW you in a vlog. i'm going to play $5/5 1k cap and try to win $100/hr. can it be done?
That's an huge win rate. I would be happy with 60$/hour at that stake. It's also the stake I play most and my winrate stays around 8,5 bb/hour. I am following you to improve 😊
Very good observation. The difference between lower and higher stakes is paying attention to your opponents and gathering as much information as quickly as possible so that you can continue to exploit them the rest of the session.
Man this is so pragmatic You are gifted I haven't seen ANYONE that gave me that much in so little time that I can use right away at the tables And I have watched a lot of poker content (and I mean a LOT) What I would give to be your friend, seriously !!! x)
I've watched a ton of poker videos, too. The problem I see now, is that I've been watching mid-high stakes. PioSolver, GTO Wizard, etc. Things that don't actually work at low and microstakes. It's a totally different game, and these videos are so good because they're geared specifically toward "us". Thanks, Marc!
I love this. Exemplifies the thought I try to remember which is to keep it simple and play your hand vs your opponent's range. Range vs range you get cooked at low stakes
Hi Hungry Horse, these videos have been great and I will try them out at my next game. However, I am a bit confused at something. You've given two different advices for pretty similar spots. At 7:19, hero on the BTN with KhKd vs BB defense - Flop Js9s2c X/B50/C, Turn 4h X/B182/C, River 3d (brick). In this video, you suggest to bluff with missed draws using an exploitatively small sizing (33% pot) to fold A-high and middle pairs. In your other video: "Top 5 Spots to BLUFF in Live Poker" at 5:31 you suggest the opposite: jam with bluffs (and the logical inverse, size down with value). The only meaningful differences are 100bb vs 200bb stack depth, but this difference wasn't emphasized in either video (with respect to the contradiction) and is seemingly contradictory. Hope you can clear this up. Thanks for the videos otherwise!
good question! the difference is definitely the size of the bets we have behind. in this video, we only have a pot sized/small overbet behind, and i doubt villains will fold tpgk for this amount. in the other video, we had more than a 2x pot sized bet on the river, and id guess most villains at 2/5 will fold a lot of top pair (if not all) for 2x+ pot on the river when the pot has already grown so big.
Could you fold the A6ss on the turn since he bet pot and you still folded on an ace river even though you hit? Also it's harder to get paid out of position if you make your flush
I’ve been studying for hours daily for over a year now and playing a lot of 1/2 and trying to move up to 1/3 at my local casino but I’m finding it soooo hard to actually build up a bankroll to comfortably play 1/3. I keep getting my money in with 70% + equity and just keep losing massive pots with AA getting cracked or players hitting boats on the river I just don’t know how to build up a bankroll and move up in stakes when there is so much variance involved and it just seems like every massive 500-1000$ pot I get my money in with great equity I keep losing. The last two weeks I’d be up 3k if it wasn’t for aces getting cracked all in pre by either qq or kk and it’s just getting frustrating because I’m putting in so much time studying and playing very beatable games and still just can’t seem to win the key pots to build a bankroll and I’m just stuck at 1/2
You could be like me been on the bottom side of standard deviation. We’re just very unlucky people. I lose 90% hands like no one’s business. It’s insane. We’re gonna go on crazy heaters but it’s 50 years from now and our massive cold streaks are now.
Again, a new hit to had at the box office of HHP on YT (stop thinking from Hero perspective vs Vilain if) ! Tx to your team for the video! Keep doing the Dennis the Menace faces at the end, M. Goon, so funny! 😂
For the first hand, when you had the flush draw do you always check call 3/4 pot on the flop and pot on the turn. I was thinking that might not be the best move since its unlikely that he has a lot of flushes and especially on the turn you only have about 20% chance to hit your flush. Also when should you raise with flush draws and straight draws and when should you just call with them. For the first hand, I might sometimes think that the opponent has a k and I can probably get them to fold by playing aggresive and hit my flush and choose to check raise and then barrel on the turn for a jam. What type of situations should I be doing that in?
again - i would ask questions that help em come to that answer which i talked about a bit in the video. ott i don’t think i have fold equity since villain bet BIG on flop and BIG on turn. in most live players this will be heavily weighted towards AK+, which just is not folding to a xr. but - since they have such a strong range we don’t need to hit our hand much to have a profitable call, since when we hit we often get paid an extra bet (which is why i discussed leading river).
Here's the traThis is the best poker content on RUclips. Everything is explained very simply, the videos are very short, and there's no fluff. All other channels compared to this one are like gods of the seas and oceans. :PP
I would appreciate an inverse for each scenario. For example, what do you do in the last scenario in 1/2 or 2/5 stakes if you're the one out of position with AJ or KJ, have called 2 barrels, and now face a (1) 1/2 pot bet (2) pot bet (3) overbet? My guess would be fold in (3) and mostly fold in (2), turn the mostly into always depending on the player. Should you mostly call for (1)? Navigating top pair top kicker heads up out of position facing 3 streets of betting is always tricky, I can never tell if my opponent is capable of triple betting worse for value, or is polarized to only bluff or 2 pair+. Could also be chopping with another AJ or KJ.
I play 1/3 and everyone calls my raises (usually $180 effective). The minimum I make it is $15 and if there is a bunch of limps go about $25 and still get 2-3 callers. Because of this I play a pretty narrow range since I have essentially no fold equity even once it gets to the river. Any thoughts on how to exploit these types of player besides just being nitty and making hands?
The problem i had when I played GTO was playing a limping raise first range of 8-13% so When I raise to 4 bb everybody would fold or everybody would call. I would almost never be heads up or 2-4 ways. And when I hit the flop and bet, everyone would fold or everyone would call to the river. That was at TCH Dallas 1/2 $300 max buy in I do not have the bankroll to do 2/5 match stack, but everyone buys in for $1,000 minimum. I already gave a shot at 2/5 there, I had to bluff and the river came a 4th suit and I just folded and lost $300 in 5 minutes lol compared to losing $300 in 6 hours at 1/2 with my at the time $2k bankroll
With KK as pfr, if turn was 4s and completed flush and villain is uncapped do we default to 35-50% pot sizing for protection against PP or hands containing 1 spade? I would normally check behind for pot control but I guess I’m leaving value on the table… Betting small there opens up the option to get bluffed especially by pros curious what you think
depends. i would ask are they more likely to make calling mistakes or bluffing mistakes. if they’re sticky id bet turn and river with kk. if they’re bluffy i’d x back turn and bluff catch river.
Great analysis as always. Clear and to the point. 👍👍👍👍👍👍 I missed the video clip with "look at that sweet baby" but you more than made up for that with another J 9 2 flop. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 How to play on a J 9 2 flop is one of my specialties now. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Keep them vlogs coming sir. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
have you guys discussed exploits vs extra passive/trappy opponents? e.g. playing vs someone who isn't as capped after check/calling a half pot cbet on a wet flop? (im guessing we size up and basically "bet the strength of our hand" on turn and river)
I like the way you think about the game and this channel is helping me improving. Anyway your style put a lot of enphasis on exploiting your opponents. For sure it works when you have a big skill advantange on them. You can liberally do all the exploit you want. Not so sure how it works when you play against another player of your skill level. They will note your exploits and will try to counter exploit. So it will be about who can adjust better. Not an easy task...
What if you play in a region locked online pool where you play the same regs everyday? Would you still be so blatantly unbalanced and go for pure exploits?
I think this content is good I just would say that you need to acknowledge that sometimes your opponents are more balanced, and even more importantly sometimes you just don't know or have enough data on what their tendencies are.
i have found it’s infinitely more profitable to assume players are making the same mistakes as the pool overall than to assume they are not. adjust from the exploit baseline and go backwards if they earn respect, not the other way around. and i can assure you - no one is anywhere near balanced in low stakes live poker.
So in the KK example on J92 flop - you really don’t think they would raise with AJ? Top pair top kicker. I was thinking this would make the Turn awkward for us, not knowing if we’re ahead- but I guess we would just reraise back on the flop and get the money in. Does that sound right?
if they’re never calling top pair for three streets, sounds like a pretty profitable game to bluff. poker is a push and pull and if you’re complaining about your current game, you’re probably not pulling the right lever.
They are going to be likely 3 betting 9s and jacks. They could have 2s but the point of our flop sizing is to have them raise 2s on the wet board, Thus taking it out their range
what do you guys think of this one? let me know!

play a game where everyone buys in for more than 100bb.
