This will probably get lost, but I feel like this actually shows that Kratos is a good father, he wants his son to be able to think for himself, since he knows he will likely become a powerful god like he is, and he doesn't want him being led astray, so he's testing him to see if he is able to be more than just a tool for a power hungry warlord, but instead be able to morally choose the right thing and figure things out on his own

Actually to my knowledge, the Athenians were the gay ones you hear of.
People nowadays forget that Greece back then had different “states”, similar (but not exactly) to the USA. Each having different values, traditions, policies, etc...
The most notable states were Athens and Sparta.
Athens focuses heavily on selfish pleasure, entertainment, and comfortable living; while Sparta focused on Strengthening their cities and expanding their influence.
Athenians were not “Spartans”. Which were not as battle hardened, and strong willed.
During the Peloponnesian War, It was obvious who was going to win. Even though Athens had more soldiers and a stronger navy.
they were no match for the Spartans.
In fact, its considered the most one sided war. As Athens lost nearly 20,000 soldiers, and thousands more civilians, while Sparta lost 192. Maybe even less. Its actually unknown, but its recorded that 7 died in ground combat, and lost 70 ships. (Athens had a huge powerful navy. But lost around 200 ships anyways) but most of the spartan crews managed to evade capture, which led to 7 Athenian Naval Admirals being executed, yet it being a strategical victory.
after the war was over, the a lot of athenians were enslaved or killed later. Sparta along with Corinth and Thebes even suggested executing every single athenian, and razing Athens to the ground. (But they didn’t)
Anyways, a lot of people, forget that Spartans did not share the same amount of homosexual practices than the Hoplites of Athens. They immediately think that every Hoplite is a Spartan just because they wear the same Armor and weapons. Hoplites were just citizen soldiers who served for a time.
While Spartans were soldiers for life.
Popular culture nowadays spreads that fake narrative of “Spartans being mostly gay” when it was actually the Athenians That had those practices.
Dont get me wrong though, im sure there were some gay spartans. But a lot of people automatically assume Greeks all had Spartans as soldiers. 🤨

I remember when my father sat me down and told me how the world worked, that everyone had to be a certain way and anyone who wasn't should be ostracized and/or harmed in some way. I left to get my own place with those words, that ideology in mind, but when I started to actually experience life, I realized that my father was wrong, that life was more than just what people believed, but how they treated others.
