Wanted to tell you something since you brought up the power of hope tyr tells kratos about fear and hope but he also mentions hate and love which I think could be what atreus is about to experience but idk what kind of love and hate we're talking about right now it could be atreus's hatred for everything which takes over him and he hurts the people he loved and maybe we'll get another father son fight of kratos and atreus
Or the 2nd one where it's nothing about kratos atreus starts to hate angrboda for some reason and his hatred keeps growing and growing but then it ends up in love
Idk these are speculations but I do believe atreus could be influenced by hel into hating either angrboda or hating the entire world and things happen

The first game literally begins with him jumping off a cliff because he couldn't live with his failures and felt abandoned by the gods.
That depth of character was there literally from the beginning. A lot of people mistakenly think it was added retroactively in the 2nd and 3rd game. But no, Kratos was always deep. He was a loving father and husband who lost his family, a great leader who lost his men, and a devout believer who lost his faith. So all he had left was hate, and that led him to power. Now he uses that power to protect others from his fate.
The writing for this game is down right legendary. Games in the mid to late 2000s were written like philosophical treatises and classical epics.

Why make obvious allusions and comparisons to Greek tragedies and the flaws of Greek heroes, just to then claim none of that shit was intentional!? It pissed me off so much. Sure, Pandora was meant to sacrifice herself anyway, but the fact that Kratos 'killed' her because he let his anger got better of him most likely why he was hurt by her death. Also, Kratos letting Pandora go so he could punch Zeus in the face is the last time he completely gave himself to his rage, making her the last victim of his anger. Zeus? At that point, killing Zeus was more like a mercy killing more than anything.

This is what Carl Jung, the most known psychiatrist and psychologist of the twentieth meant by incorporating your shadow. If you are able to, then you will become whole. A reflection of society; few are taught and fewer knows. Your shadow is you, rejecting yourself would further lead to chaos. This is my personal opinion; religion failed massively and still continues to fail across the globe to communicate fundamental understanding of oneself. It's not black or white, but grey.
These stories are meant to provide mythical representations of the understanding of humanity as it arises from the ages. Shame and sad many will not be able to connect the two. And by no fault of their own, but one of the many character faults of humanity, willful ignorance where many accepts because it is easy...
To each and their own. Demise that is.

They helped to heal him, and helped him to become the man he is now....the man who can look at his past and accept the harm that he had caused, but also to recognize that he is no longer that man....that he has changed for the better. That he *can* be better. Without them....without Faye, Kratos most likely would still be the angry, bitter, pained, and bitter man that he used to be. Tricked? Ya but more so he was being tested and he failed. Sigrun gave them a warning where she basically said that if they don’t learn what Valhalla is *trying* to teach them, it will not play. It will *make you* learn the lesson. The sacrifice cage is from the first game where Kratos basically used a complete strangers life, as a key to a door.
Valhalla essentially gave him the same scenario, and made him see Helios instead of Mimir. Someone who he doesn’t like, but at the same time doesn’t hate, and knows he did kinda dirty. But unfortunately, he didn’t even hesitate to do it again. So, Valhalla basically did a ‘your own actions will be punishment enough’ sorta thing.
That’s why when he sacrificed himself instead of hastily, throwing another life away, it let him pass. They’re pretty lucky Valhalla seems to be a little forgiving.

You know the sad part is that kratos did all his cruel things in the Greek mythology because he lost his family. He had no reason to live and he was cursed to always have those nightmares because of that massacre. It’s funny that all this destruction wouldn’t have happened if that cruel god of war never tricked him to do that. I think if kratos had the choice between having his godly powers or having his family back, he would have chosen the latter. We saw that in one of the god of war stand alone games on the psp handheld.

Young Kratos' body language is so subtle, yet it says so much.
When Kratos enters, he's tired, and bored, and hollow. His throne has given him nothing and taken everything, and he's unimpressed by the man he will eventually become as he's lectured. He's young and arrogant, and doesn't believe he needs to hear what he's being told, like a petulant teenager. When Kratos approaches him and begins to chastise him, his lip curls and he sits up, staring Kratos down, and it even gives Kratos pause. When Kratos begins to scold his past self for his decisions, he sets his jaw and stares right through Kratos, totally unimpressed as Kratos realizes that they were still his decisions, no matter how much he's changed.
After Kratos realizes that he needs to accept his past and forgive himself, we can't see what Young Kratos does. It's easy to believe that he merely disappeared off screen, but honestly? I'd like to imagine he got sick of Kratos monologuing and simply got up and walked away to sulk somewhere else.

At this point in his life Kratos is defined entirely by his hatred, mostly of himself. What can he do when he’s confronted by a man telling him he’s more than that? That there is always hope for change?

What’s a tad freaky to me is that Young Kratos is reacting to what is being said. He’s not just some avatar for Kratos to yell at. When Kratos says: “There is no forgiving you. You chose!”, you can see his lip curl. This is really digging deep into Kratos’ mind. That this part of him is still there and so, so angry and hurt. But he has finally learned to temper it, to harness it for something good.

I love how the developers realize that the fanbase slowly started seeing the past entries of the franchise the way Kratos does, as him simply being a bloodthirsty monster. This DLC is basically the game reminding both Kratos and the players that although the Greek saga was violent, it wasn't because then-Kratos was a blind monster, but because he was hurt and broken. Both the community and Kratos himself are reminded that his past was not as black and white as they remember. It serves as a great character development for Kratos while also being meta as fuck by calling out the player's own revisionism of what happened in Greece.

    • @sodasaintcommentaries4054
      @sodasaintcommentaries4054 9 месяцев назад +127

Granted, that doesn't mean what Kratos did in Greece wasn't selfish and horrible...because it totally was. Kratos was a brutal, selfish, near-merciless killer. He took lives without mercy, he used others without consideration for their lives.
      But he wasn't irredeemable, either.
That dark part of him will ALWAYS be there. He will always be the God of War. He will always have those scars, the tattoo, the ashes (even if faded). But he is not the sum of his faults. He is the God of Hope now, too.

Spartans took this so seriously that it was common practice for younger Spartan men to yield their seat or even give up the toilet to an older man, even when visiting another state or city. so, for me this is fitting to Kratos Character. even with all that Rage he would still not speak when an Older Spartan is Lecturing or talking to him.

I will be honest this is one of the best cutscenes in the God of war franchise as Kratos was able to confront his past and finally make peace with it and became the god of hope not war and I would definitely say that this is an example how he was truly changing how Pandora changed him and at the end of God of war 3 when Kratos finally got his vengeance against the gods he felt regret, knowing that vengeance destroyed his homeland, and he even went as far as to sacrifice himself to Greece could eventually heal. He tried to redeem himself for the crimes he had committed. Eventually, he finally found redemption He’s more than just the god of war he’s more than death. He is the god of Hope.

This man lost it all, became depressed, used by and fooled by the god Ares, regained his memories after self death attempts and was forced to be riddled with nightmares, became a god and was then betrayed by his own out of fear. Then was cast into hell over and over, had to kill his own daughter again and again and lost his brother and mother as well. Then killed all who wronged him and burned and entire empire to the ground killing Monsters, Family ,Titans and Gods Among many other things even innocents. beings of limitless power and some of power of less than a fly. Just to be alone for years to then eventually find some kind of peace to have that also taken from him. This man has gone through the absolute ringer and forced back into a war of having to kill instead of reason knowing the other party will not change. This was well deserved for his character. He acknowledges his past and moves forward not letting that effect who he is going forward no longer scared of his own capabilities and had people around him who sees him as a friend and leader. Much love to Kratos.
