Hey guys, so after posting my last tattoo video called 'Getting your first tattoo | Survival Guide' I thought I would make a follow up video about tattoo aftercare.
These are just the things I personally do that help my tattoo heal faster and stay looking fresh.

I got my tattoo yesterday and my tattoo artist gave me perfectly clear instructions, but I can't help but watch tattoo videos the whole day.:P I'm just so happy to finally have it.

I'm getting my first tattoo next summer on my junior trip. I'm super excited ! I love your tattoos! my mom is really strict but she is ok with me getting tattoos to cover up my scars. She's super sweet and just wants me to be happy.

Coconut oil or shea butter works for me. Anti-fungal, anti-microbial, humectant, anti-itch, moisturizer, preserver of color.

Yikes. Don't use a cloth towel on a fresh tattoo, dude. It's an open wound and fibres can stick in it. Blot it with a clean paper towel.

Great aftercare guide! I just had my 3rd session on a full sleeve I'm getting done. I used Aquafora for the first 2 days or so and then switched to plain unscented Lubriderm after the first 2 sessions. Healing was a little under 2 weeks both times. My artist did some heavy black and gray shading this last session so I was looking for what others do for aftercare. I really have to check out 'Bio-oil' and let my artist know about it when I go back in 3 weeks. Thanks again for a great video!

And also, my new tattoos are itching SO bad all day long. I dont even touch it, only when i wash it and takes bapenthen on them. The feeling of NOT scratching an itchy area, is like "Here, you can have your favorite candy... But, you can only LOOK at it!" 😂

I have just had another tattoo and been advised not to use bepanthon as the formula has been altered,so that it clogs up your pores.

If you don't have antibacterial cream, but you wash it lightly with unscented Dove soap like 3 times a day, is that okay?

i had to email this link to some people i have tatted because for some reason they get a tattoo not knowing how to properly take care of it & end up blaming the tattoo artists if it gets infected
i learned more in this video than i did in the past 5 days since i got my first tat.
I love your videos dude, i'm about to get my first tattoo which is in memory of my mother who passed away from cancer this year. Sentence on my ribs of words she lived by which is: " Say little, do much and greet everyone with a smile on your face".
i think a good body soap to use would be baby soap (like by johnson and johnsons) as they dont have any excess ingredients shouldnt irritate your tattoo too much

Tattoo Goo is so much better than that Bepanthen stuff. I had a horrible reaction to the lanolin in it and had to have the whole tattoo redone! Everyone's different though I guess…

so when the tattoo starts peeling do you still wash it or just apply some cream?
I know this is probably now just history to you, but I still will reply, maybe for others. What my Tattooist said is that once the tattoo starts peeling, you stop washing it with soap. Only use the bepanthen. So the first 2-3 days you only wash it every 3-4 hours to get rid of the plasma etc, and then when peelings starts, u just stop washing it with soap and go for the cream.

Yeah sure. I used to use that but found it too thick.

Hey! I want to get my first tattoo done soon. I'm 23 and the only thing stopping me right now is my mom lmao..she gave me the "i'll be very disappointed" speech. How did your parents react to your tattoos? did you talk to them prior to getting them or did you just do it?

9nathan3 freddur My parents are super Asian and conservative. When I told them at first they totally freaked out, but then I asked mum to sit down with me and I showed her some of the tattoo artists and the pictures that I really liked. After a while of us browsing some of my favourite artists she ended up being more supportive than I ever imagined. I think it's because they come from that generation of 'if my child gets a tattoo, they'll look like a criminal' or whatever, and don't realise that it's turned into more of an accepted artform. Maybe that might help? x

does any of you ever get post tattoo depression ? i just had a fairly large one done. And I was so buzzed about it. I was also calm mentally. but as soon a the needle dropped my body started to shake. I had no control over it even though I was calm mentally. afterwards I had kind of mixed feelings. It turned out awesome. and it looks cool, but in a way I feel sad. maybe it's because it's a part of my body that will be covered forever. have you ever felt sad and exausted after getting a tattoo done.

I just got a tattoo 4 days ago, and my tattoo is peeling like crazy.
Flakes coming off, and it looks a lot lighter. Is this apart of the healing process ? I use dial antibacterial gold soap bar, and aquaphor.
@Dom Perpetua. Do not use antibacterial soap, it kills your natural healing bacteria. Just use dove. Aquaphore is fine, that's what I use
