      Varför för tattoos?
      Why on earth to have a tattoo that is, besides, nearly impossible to remove in the future? In my opinion, only seamen, convicts and prostitutes have ink.

    It's annoying that some people think every tattoo should have a meaning. There's nothing wrong with getting something solely because you like the look.

      The problem with this is that your taste can change over time but a meaning stays the same. I don't have tats yet but I wouldn't do something just because I find it cool.

    I honestly dont understand people who says you will regret your tattoos when youre older (50+). Like wtf, they will remind me of my youth so I know they will be positive. I might not like the motive and it will probably look stupid as shit, but its not like I am going to pull off women when I am that old. I am too old to care and Ill look ugly anyways, so why is that a problem.

    I'd like to add: think your placement ahead. Save bigger areas such as thighs and arms for bigger tattoos. It can be a pain in the ass to fit your new tattoos later on if you didn't save space. You make one small tattoo in the middle of your thigh and you have just wasted a great canvas that could have been occupied by a great tattoo. When you have no tattoos it mught seem that you have a lot of skin, but once you start getting inked you'll realize that you can run out of skin pretty fast and it's scary. It's kinda like playing tetris.

I was looking for something for a year, and when my friend made a suggestion, I knew that was it. I called an artist a week later, and am scheduling my appointment. I suppose if you're mentally prepared and 100% sure about the idea, the wait isn't necessary.

    Got my first tattoo two days ago.
    I started medium size.
    Chest so wasn't that painful.
    I spent a lot of time looking at portfolios so I had an artist in the style I liked.
    Got a geometric wolf that is symbolic to me at least.
    Gave my artist some inspiration pictures but let her do the rest completely. On the day she decided to increase the size by 10%.
    Got enough sleep, 0 alcohol and lots of food.
    She shaved the area.
    No twitching by me.
    Recovery is going well.
    So far only good responses from people I know :)

    I find it ridiculous that people judge you for something you chose to put on your body. It doesn't affect them in anyway therefore they have no right to say anything about it. Atleast that is what I think. 😕

    • @AnniMcSally
      @AnniMcSally 8 лет назад +32

      I think this thinking is a little bit naive. People, including you, judge people for everything they say and do. It's how our brain works. I mean even people who like tattoos will judge you for your tattoos, like is the design generic or unique, was it well executed or not, does the size/placement fit. If you don't want judged by anyone, your only option is to avoid people altogether.

      +AnniMcSally All I was saying is that it is not their body therefore they have no right to care or saying anything about what I choose to do such as tattoos and piercings. I don't care what people do. It doesn't affect me when someone else has a tattoo. And sure you may not like it which, you have every right to do. But that doesn't mean you must comment on something that someone else, not only spent a lot of money for, but also something that probably means a lot to them.

    Just got my first tattoo. It's a crown on my wrist. Trust me, it didn't hurt that bad. It hurts but I mean it doesnt hurt till the state that you want to leave the tattoo parlor and never return. It is bearable! The outline was not that bad, the shading has some challenge though because its 4 needles poking at your skin at a time! Trust me guys, your first tattoo won't hurt that bad!

      Haha a crown on your wrist and a big tattoo on your thigh or chest are not comparable. So guys your first tattoo pain will depend on the tattoo you're getting! ^^ But if you're getting something smaller on your wrist then no it probably won't hurt too bad.

My artist changed the type of flower, made them bigger and narrowed it down to only a few of the flowers that way the details won't blend together. I'm getting it tomorrow, and I'm beyond excited. It's a beautiful piece🥰

    I got my first tattoo today. It is a memorial type of tattoo for my dad. He just recently passed. I got a compass that he drew. It is perfectly imperfect and it is on my forearm. It is also incomplete. I wanted the whole forearm done but since it is my first tattoo i went ahead and only got the compass part of the tattoo today. I was super nervous about getting it done but the whole experience was just fantastic. For real guys do your research not only on the artists work, but their personality. If you find someone that you gel well with you can create a cool bond. That was something I definitely didn’t expect.

    Something I learned from my first tattooing experience: ask the artist how long they've been doing their job. I stupidly didn't ask and when I did I learned that I was actually getting it done by an apprentice who had just started that year. Don't just assume if you walk into any tattoo shop that you'll get a seasoned veteran. Overall, don't be afraid to ask questions.

      +astrea79 If there's an apprentice working at a tattoo shop they must be pretty good or else they'd be tattooing from their basement, so that really doesn't matter much . All it means is that they're new at they're new at the job, not necessarily bad or inexperienced.

    • @astrea79
      @astrea79 8 лет назад

      +567nicol It was kinda in between in retrospect. I need to get it touched up but since it's on my back it's easy to forget about. I wanted it done in dark blue ink, but the shop owner convinced me it was a better idea to get it in black. I kinda wished I had insisted on blue because I wanted a woad color for a celtic spiral encircled and not have it look like a tribal/celtic tattoo and that kinda what it turned out looking. It was not what I originally wanted but it looked close enough so at the time I was happy with it. If I could do it over again, I would have waited and saved more money and gone to somebody who would have done something different but whatever, it's not like I regret getting it.

    • @Nemamka
      @Nemamka 8 лет назад

      +ばけねこ化け猫 okay but let's just agree that everybody has a different experience, and not everybody regrets it and not everybody changes over time to the same degree, or just in the same way. So it's a stereotypization and a generalization and it sounds like you want to prove that all people with tattoos are sad, regretful and bitter people 20-40 years later *only because* they have a piece of ink somewhere under their skin. Which is not true and one tattoo does not define a personality in its whole :D I mean it totally *can*, but I mean HOPEFULLY some other stuff happens in your life, too...
      Also, it's a really really personal opinion of mine so attack me if you want (this goes for everybody/anybody reading this) but if you're getting a *tattoo*, isn't that already taking a very-long-term chance? so why not make it specific? you're getting a tattoo for christ's sake, honestly, if something matters that much in my life right at this moment, I'm not gonna make it vague. I'm not gonna make it vague just so that I can say I played it safe for the next 20-40-60 years.I'm not about the next 20-60 years, I have no idea about the next 20-60 years. I'm getting a tattoo, that's already as far away from playing it safe as it can get, so if I really like a specific thing and I don't want to make it vague, noone can convince me of doing the opposite. according to this theory all my tattoos are supposed to be vague symbols? I'm sorry but I just can't do that. then I'd look like an average picture book that, to be honest, entails no emotions for me and is very impersonal. Your tattoo is - to some degree always - about you. Make it about you.
      I'm sorry I got a bit carried away but anyways, that would be my advice :D
      But of course I agree on the argument that please, please really think it throught. not just the first one, all of them basically.

      That's the thing, a band is a band, a group of people, but yeah if that's what represents you just go for it. I don't dislike the idea because you may regret liking the band, I dislike it because I prefer high quality tattoos that's all.

    • @MsYhyyhy
      @MsYhyyhy 8 лет назад

      +ばけねこ化け猫 if someone has a band theme tattoo doesn't mean that it isn't a high quality tattoo. don't judge others decisions. logos can be used as a base to really nice and meaningfull tattoos. the thing is that everyone is different and for you sth can be strange but for someone else it can be normal and you should accept its decision. and yes, i have tattoos i know what im talking about.

    • @subwayvesubscriber
      @subwayvesubscriber 8 лет назад +1

      +Neptune .png Yeah but most people will regret copying someone else's tattoo in the end. At first you might like the idea or the looks but in the end it's nothing personal. It's nothing that you actually thought about in-depth or anything. Not saying this goes for everyone, but at the end of the day I think most people would want to have something that they came up with themselves or at least has some sort of personal touch to it.

    • @Typkajjo
      @Typkajjo 8 лет назад +4

      +Neptune .png Yes it is something wrong with stealing tattoos. Tattoos are just like any other artpiece, as soon as it is created, it is copyrighted by law. So if that artist who made that piece she found on pinterest discovered that some other artist made the same piece and takes credit for it, he/she has the right to sue them, if he/she got proof that the original piece was made first.
      Its really great though that +Roosa Lehikoinen changed her piece so it feels more personal to her :)

    This may be a stupid question, but where is the line between copying someone else's tattoo and getting one inspired by it? I do theatre, and one of my favorite actors has a gorgeous tattoo of what's called a ghost light (basically a certain type of light that's always kept running in a theater). So it's a pretty unique thing (I honestly can't find anyone besides this actor who has a ghost light tattoo), but getting that would be pretty significant to me personally--what are the acceptable parameters of similarity and difference that separates stealing an inspiration? I'm interested in getting this tattoo as my first, but the last thing I want to do is offend, insult, or steal.

    • @Katrinberndt

      What I would do is to describe it using words to an artist and let them create it out of their mind. Then you've been inspired by this other person but it won't be copied since the artist doesn't know the "original" image that you have seen? Just a suggestion!

    Emailed and I was like "hey if you've still got that cancellation would you mind tattooing a cat with a bow and maybe a rose in the background" and then a day later I ended up with a tattoo that goes from my wrist to just in my elbow crease. I originally wanted it on my thigh and the artist was like "yeah it won't look good there because it's not big enough/not enough detail" so I listened to him and he was fucking right because it looks awesome on my arm.

    I’m 14 but I know for sure I want tattoos. I’m thinking of a purple rose somewhere hidden as my first, just to see how it feels. There’s a big symbolism behind the colour purple for me, and also behind a rose, so yeah.

    16, have wanted a tattoo for three years now. I was planning on getting an irrational heart beat in honor of my older brother. He has a heart condition.
    (If anybody has any advice where to get the tat, I'm here) I was thinking of the Latissimus Dorsi but idk

    I just found your videos and I'm really enjoying them! I got my first tattoo in October and did the same thing you mentioned here: I got a tattoo that symbolized my favorite band with a sparrow and an anchor. I thought about adding meaningful lyrics but decided not to. I wanted the tattoo to mean something to me without including the rest of the world too. Thanks for your good advice. I wish I would have found your videos first but definitely will continue watching them since I plan to get more done.

    I want a ladybug tattoo because my great-grandmothers nickname is Ladybug (she is Katalin and in my language ladybug is katica so we call her Katica because they sound similar). I want as much dots on the left wing as much decades she lived and on the right wing as much dots as much years she lived. So at the moment my Ladybug tattoo would have 8 dots on the left side and 2 on the right side. And I want the whole thing in sketch style or I want Sasha Unisex to do this with her awesome watercolor looking technique.
    But my great grandmother is still alive and I'm only 16 so yeah I have time to decide:)

    I will get a tattoo of 'The Lion King' soon(:
    I'll get Simba's paw in Mufasa's pawprint from the scene in where Simba, Nala and Zazu got chased by Shenzi, Banzai and Ed and Mufasa saved them.
    I also want the quote 'Remember who you are' under the image.
    The Lion King stands for my childhood and having to grow up, just like Simba did.
    I have to remember who I am and I will have to do what I will have to do.
    I gotta be honest, I saw the idea of the paw+pawprint on the internet, but I'm gonna stick to the original (the one I saw online had a purple pawprint) and not actually copy the tattoo, since I want the original image on my body. And also, I added the quote to it as well(:
    It's gonna be my first tattoo ever and part of me is afraid of regretting it one day, even though I know I won't, because it stands for my childhood.
    I hope I won't be in too much pain when I'll get it done, haha c:

      Please do t get it. Once that drawing is on your skin you're stuck with it. Tattoos seem to be a fashion at the moment and in a few years they will fade out. Please don't ruin your beautiful skin.

    I really appreciate when I go to an artist or piercer with an idea of what I want done and they say no. It reassures me that they know what they are doing and it makes it easier when I do get inked or pierced because they were professional enough to be honest and didn't just do something because I wanted it knowing it either wouldn't turn out good, it would be incredibly painful, or I would end up hating it.

    I want to get a tattoo of a semicolon with my therapist’s name incorporated into it on the back of my neck. Like, the “i” in her name will be the semicolon. I thought I was being creative, but what if I’ll regret it? Just it explain a little further, she’s really helped me through a lot, and it’s something I want to remember her by when I’m older and think I can’t go on. I’m not getting her name for her, but because she’s the reason I’ve continued. I owe it all to her.

    start off small is not just size!
    Just had my first tattoo at a flash event yesterday and asked some typical first timer questions about size and pain tolerance, because the flashes were all bigger in reality than they'd appeared in photos. My artist told me that the first tip (start off small) isn't only about size but also about the design and the time it will take.
    A relatively small tatoo with a lot of lines and multiple colours can take longer and be more painful than a bigger dot-shaded blackwork tattoo (although i did ask to scale back the shading a bit for my comfort). My 'big' tattoo took far less time and didn't seem as painful as the smaller, intricate piece of my neighbour.
    Also, because it was on my back and I had to lean forward, I could read on my e-reader without moving anything but my finger, and that was SUPER helpful to distract me from the pain until I was used to it. Would definitely recommend an e-reader if you can.

    I'll be turning 18 soon and my parents aren't too thrilled about the whole getting a tattoo thing so I kinda wanted one that wasn't as visible. I already have my shoulder reserved for a different tattoo (it's going to be bigger and I'm waiting to see how my skin reacts to the ink for my smaller, first tattoo) and I was wondering if an ankle tattoo was good for a first one?

    • @eeshakaushall6280
      @eeshakaushall6280 8 лет назад +8

      The ankle is mostly bone so it's probably going to hurt more since you don't know how your skin reacts to the ink and the pain try doing a more fleshy part 😀😀😀😀

    • @agnovum1654
      @agnovum1654 8 лет назад +3

      I would recommend stomach, hips or upper thigh! these areas usually have enough muscle/fat over the bone to avoid extreme pain, and they're easy to cover up

    • @platypusofdeath3582
      @platypusofdeath3582 8 лет назад

      if you want one that's easy to cover up pretty much no matter what you wear, go with the thigh

    • @elyperez1281

      I got my first small one on the back of my neck. It is super meaningful for me but my hair covers it up as I'm a teacher and we know the comments we suffer if we do something like this. It didn't hurt so much and I got to see how my skin reacted and the healing process, etc.

    • @deaththefairy
      @deaththefairy 8 лет назад +5

      Dunno if I'm too late, but I have one next to my ankle bone and it didn't hurt much while getting it done, however walking afterwards was painful for the next week almost. It's also an area that I bumped a lot while it was healing and I now have to get it touched up.
      I got my first tattoo on my stomach/hip area and I wouldn't really recommend it for a first tattoo. During the healing time I couldn't wear pants (maybe not a problem if you like dresses I guess) and it sort of vibrated onto the other side which made it more painful while being done.
      I'd personally recommend your shoulder blade, the one I have there is easy to cover up and not painful at all while healing or getting done. Just be sure to put your ointment on it and you're pretty much set c:
      tl;dr Shoulder blade is the place I'd recommend getting done first

    My first tattoo was a detailed out tattoo I had in my head, still love it, but I should've given my artist more freedom and I can still do that I guess. I learned that I don't really give a damn if it's exactly how I wanted to, I opened up a bit and got more loose about what the artist decides to do on me and those pieces are much better than the planned out ones.
