Guys, these are just SUGGESTIONS... obviously get your first tattoo wherever you want. If you already have an idea for a placement, there is no need to search for a video like this and leave comments on how I should "stop telling you what to do". Many other people are looking for thoughtful placements for their first tattoo, and I thought I'd share some advice. Also not everyone wants to have a super visible FIRST tattoo, each person has their own reasons. Not everyone wants to be covered in tattoos, and not everyones lifestyle allows them to have tattoos wherever, so if they can still fulfil their wish of having a tattoo, but being able to hide it then Im here to help with the advice.
This is an old video, but I need to write this comment here as it's relevant. I joined one online discussion about a placement for a first tattoo and I typed there that places that cannot be never hidden are not good spots for a very first piece (meaning neck, face, hands). And people started attacking me like crazy, that's absolutely okay even if you want a first tattoo directly on the face, etc...Well I was kinda pissed, because I've always thought that people who are tattooed a lot or people who are interested in a tattoo community would also think a similar way about getting a first piece and actually giving good ideas for people who plan to get tattooed. I know you can put your first tattoo wherever you want, but I also think that you need to think about it more deeper. I personally do not know a person who would get a first tattoo on very visible spot. Most people get them on spots that are usually hidden even if you have a shirt or shorts, places like back, ribs, stomach, sides. Then the next spots mostly used for a first tattoo are upper arms, thighs, lower legs. I think smart people really do not put first tattoos on places that won't be never hidden. I also think that tattooed hands/fingers without any arm tattoos are ridiculous ( I do not count one or two small finger tattoos, I mean completely tattooed fingers or hands) and I was laughed at this opinion. Well, I'm happy for anyone who's happy for their first tattoo anywhere. I'm tattooed a lot and I'm still not sure about a hand tattoo as a part of my sleeve or a chest tattoo. 😆
My dad won a free tattoo for the best costume at a Halloween party and decided to tattoo his entire back...that was his first tattoo. I don't know what he was thinking haha

Jacqueline Wiberg omg , haha! And at a Halloween party! How cool is that?! 😁👏🏻
Jacqueline Wiberg Hey that shits expensive it’s free right probably was like It’s free and I’m adventurous wanting to get a back tattoo and then gets it
just got my 2nd tattoo yesterday, something i’ve always loved about them is that when i was a kid i would always get picked on for being SO pale, and now instead of people noticing how white i am, they notice my tattoos.
When I grow up I want a tattoo that’s an aries in a heart on my forearm, and the second one is a tattoo saying: “Hi.” a little bit below the Aries tattoo
I love your tattoos. You really rock the pale thing you got going on here. Im planning on my first tattoo. As of now im 20 years old. Ive had one pretty big idea, since i was 17. Its heartagram, the logo of a band called HIM. May be pretty cliche to get a band logo, but i dont really care for other peoples opinion too much. I just dont know in which part of my arm id like to get it, AND the design, colors and all that jazz. Id like that it would match my possible future tattoos. Thats why i havent rushed to get it. I like black/white tattoos & metal/rock n roll styled tattoos, as thats my style anyways.
My first tattoo is for sure gonna be Lady Justice from the album cover of ...And Justice for All but I'm still wondering where it will go best since it's a rather wide and long design, and was thinking on the side of the lower part of the leg or maybe the shin idk,I definitely feel you on not rushing it .
I recommend the upper arms for first tattoos as well. No lower than a quarter sleeve shirt in placement. Easily hidden and not painful. I've run out of space because that area on my arm is full and now have moved to my thighs 😄 As someone who travels quite frequently it's nice to not automatically be judged for my tattoos as no one i work with knows I have them. Great video!
I got my 1st & 3rd on my upper arms, and 2nd on my back, just below the neck. They're very easily hidden, especially the 3rd, which is just below the shoulder.
S O F T T E A R S the thing is...people do. There’s plenty of work areas which will not hire you because of the lack of “professional” appeal tattoos can have
My first tattoo is 3 weeks old, healed now, and I did exactly this: inner bicep with a meaningful palm size tattoo just for me, very personal, hidden under my arm next to my heart 🧡 though I love showing it off, I'm always wearing tanks~
I’m getting my 1st tattoo on my 18th birthday in a couple of months. I’ve gone for the design I’ve wanted for years (floral moon piece on my thigh). Went to book it and it’s going to take about five hours...talk about throwing myself in at the deep end hehe
Good tips! My first one was my knee/upper thigh. My thought process was that it would be very hidden. Any time I'm in shorts I know it's a casual situation that I wouldn't need to hide it. 5 hours and it was painful but I'm glad I went with it. I also wanted to make sure it would look good if it was my only piece I got. Now I've gotten more and started on my shoulder and working my way down to more visible pieces.
I am getting my first tattoo on July 31st! (The artist I've liked for years is pretty popular now and so the waitlist is almost a year long). I am getting a rose and some violets on my inner left bicep in black/white/grey. I am so excited!!
I'm planning on getting a first tattoo so this was very helpful. Thank you. I think I want a smaller one below my wrist, near the cuff or on the inside on my forearm. Just below the elbow part since I jerk being touched there.
My mom is gifting me tattoos for my 21st birthday and I am just fucking going all in and I am getting 4 done at once. I have major medical issues, have had 20+ surgeries, stick a needle in my chest weekly, and I have a terminal disease so I am no stranger to pain and needles. I have wanted to have and have been allowed to get tattoos for a long time I just wanted to wait until I knew 100% knew what I wanted because you know they are permanent 😂 Since I am getting 4 done at once I also wanted to figure out an aesthetic /style I wanted so I can coordinate all my pieces for a more coordinated, clean, put together look. The first one I am getting is a dandelion with petals floating away that turn into crows on my upper arm/shoulder. It will then transition into a simpler sky with a solar system/the planets that is a slight S that goes beneath my collar bone. Then on my left rib cage right under my boob I am getting a horizontal line of the moon phases. Lastly I want a zipper on my 4 inch vertical scar right above my belly button from a surgery. Like I said I have had a lot of surgeries, 20+...... and I know tattoo coverup is a popular option. However I don’t think scars are anything to be ashamed of. I think they are ducking bad ass and tell a story. With that being said I want to make the area around then just a little bit more pretty. They are all going to black. I am also keep all the lines as simple as I can. I just prefer a clean look.
I got mines two days ago on my wrist the tattoo artist told me that’s one of the worst places to get a first tattoo but it wasn’t bad at all it just feels like burning more than hurting I got a butterfly and it was 20 dollars they had a sale Friday the 13th and he explained everything and I love it
i wanted something big for my first tattoo so i have it on my back. i was tattooed for 5 hours and i don't regret it, it was quite funny feeling :D i also have tattoos on my arms and legs, but back tattoo is really easy to hide. just put your t-shirt on.
I think the best spot for the 1st tattoo is a shoulder patch since it lets you experience the inking process with minimal pain. It's also an easy spot to hide.
I know pain and stuffs is different for everyone but I feel called out a bit when she said the wrist was a painful area when I got my first tattoo there. Sure I almost passed out but that is cuz I barely ate but I was cool with it I love my infinity symbol to death and I’m getting my second tattoo soon and I’m pumped
My first was the whole top of my foot. Second was the other foot. Third was just adding onto the 2nd, and went up my shin to my knee. They all hurt like hell lol. I'm planning on getting a small one near my wrist next. Hopefully that's not as bad.
I got three big leaves across my forearm / wrist / hand for my first tattoo. And honestly I just have always had a start big mentality, I’m a labourer, but I’ve always fantasized about a poppy on the top of my left hand to begin a nature sleeve, and a lion on my right to start just a hand wrist sleeve
My first tattoo was on my wrists about a month later I got my other one done. I have my both of my kid's names going across the bottom of my wrists and the pain was a 8 out of 10
My first tattoo was on the left side of my back. I wanted it somewhere that would be easy to hide. I still like it 12 years later but the thing is you really don’t see it that much if it is on your back.
I got my first tattoo 2 years ago. A small heart close to my clavicle. I am thinking on getting another tattoo for my birthday and i am planning to do the upper inside arm. Wish me luck!
I will have my first tattoo on Tuesday. And im planning to put it on my inner forearm. Its a clock with compass with plane and birds. Im nervous and also excited. Fingers crossed 🤞🤞🤞
I'm planning to get my forearm tattooed in October this year. It's a snake winding around my arm partially on the inside of my forearm. The head of the snake begins shortly after the wrist (upper side). I'm very excited and it's only may. Wish me luck :)
my first tattoo was on my mid thigh, i recently got an internship where tattoos can’t be seen on the job so I put it in a spot that can be hidden for work but it’s still in a spot I can show off when I want too.
I’ve wanted a tattoo for 2 years, I know what I want and I would like it on my right wrist but the item I want as a tattoo is really popular and I’m a wuss when it comes to needles
This was more like "places to put tattoos to hide them" I'm getting my first and I don't want to hide it lol

Red Bisou well, they are suggestions... get your tattoo wherever you want. Many people are looking for thoughtful places for their first tattoo. Some may need to hide it for work or other reasons. Not everyone wants to have a super visible tattoo. And I did mention the forearm which is a fairly visible place.
The first tattoo I had was on my hand, and contrary to what people say it's not that painful, the most painful for me was my forearm, wich is again what people around me call "the least painful area" lol
I had my first (tiny) tattoo on my wrist and it wasn't painfull at all, what's more for me it was the best placement and decision I've ever made so all depends on the person
4 года назад+1
Patrycja well that is great! :) also could be that the excitement and the size of the tattoo took away the pain, but I am glad you are happy with it!
My first one was scripture across the top of my thigh and it was so painless and perfect for a first tattoo. However, I’m totally expecting the second one I get next week to be more painful which will be small on the side of the arm just below my wrist
As someone who got their first tattoo on the right wrist (I’m right handed), I wish i could change the location. I still love it but since it is so visible, it makes it hard to hide and unfortunately not all jobs are accepting of tattoos yet.
This is going to be my first tattoo I would like to get above my breast area is that a very painful area and do all tattoos places have numbing cream love your video u r the best
Got my first two tattoos in one sitting at 14, one on the wrist (it's not too hard to hide and not super painful) the second one was on my shoulder blade (this was the least painful out of the two and easy to hide but can still be shown off) and then for my 16th birthday I decided I wanted another one... I had the wonderful idea of a sunflower the size of my hand on my ribs, I gotta say that one definitely didn't tickle
I am almost 17 and the one on my wrist needs a touch up but the one on my shoulder is still good, these were done by the same artist. The one on my ribs is still super bright and beautiful. I wouldn't say they stretched just didn't take to well.
Also couple my friends first tattoos was face, chest, hand we were like whoa also it was kinda funny at first because we were like it looked like they had a bunch of tattoos but those were their first but after they got more it balanced out haha
My first was my ankle, then my second was the crease of my arm.... that one hurt a lot. Getting my third on my shoulder and I really hope it hurts a lot less because I am a wuss
I'm planning on getting an upper stomach/underboob piece for my first tattoo after lockdown and I know it will be expensive and painful but I'm not really worried about that, my biggest fear is the tattoo artist being hesitant because it's my first one 😂🤷🏻♀️ My friends have said I should get something else in a different place first but I don't want to get a random tattoo just so I can see what it's like, I might as well get something I want right? I want to get loads of tattoos in the future so I don't want to risk getting something I don't want and loosing a space for other tattoos...
What do you think about ankles? I won’t be getting my first tattoo for a few years until I’m completely independent from my parents financially but I know what I want. I want a small robin sitting on a oak branch that represents my grandfather who passed away two years ago. I want it at my ankle to be discreet and also bc he’s my roots
Thankyou for this video. Was thinking about a wrist tattoo, because of a surgery scar. Guess that would hurts so much.😅

wearesurvivorsx maybe it would hurt more, but if you feel like it is fitting for you, then go for it!! This video is just my oppinion, but there are different situations, people and ideas out there and Im not the one who is here to tell u otherwise!
In your oppion what's a better place for a first tattoo if it's some cool decked put wolf peice and It's your sprit animal, should I do my shoulder to that end part if my bicep where it's that line above your fourarm or chest. P.S I will defenitly be getting tons if more in the future and know which ones I want
My first tattoo was a tattoogram from some famous criminalbiologist from germany on my left arm. Dr. Marc Benecke. A little cricket 😂 a few lines, done in 5 minutes on my lower arm near the bending area. Now sorrounded by a fat oldschool goldfish, pickle rick and a joker and harley quinn tatoo 😂 Never really tough about the placement. It was super spontaneous on a tattoo convention where i met the Doctor. I saw it, we made it. Done within minutes. A month later i had my firt real tattoo appointment and tattooed my complete right inner arm.
Im getting my first at 16, thinking about getting a black bleeding diamond on the side of my neck, about an inch long and wide, how bad would the pain be?
I’m only 14 but I know what kind of tatto I want is the wolf eel because it has a lot of the same characteristics and if I ever have the guts to get the first one then I would get something for my gran who died and I was very close to if you have any ideas would you please tell me I dont have a very high pain tolerance my family arent very approving of tattos but auntie is and it would be something special to me because it marks something important but at the same time I wont loose it
Thank you for this video! What do you think about the back of the upper arm for a first tattoo? Or is it unflattering because of the obvious elbow that would be below it?
your tattoos are so dark still and not faded looking at all. do you use spf30/tattoo sunscreen? i’m getting my first one on my forearm soon (starting a sleeve). was wondering how to keep them fresh and dark looking.
Jopo my tattoo took about 2 and a half hours and really wasn’t that painful until the end because my skin was irritated by that point. it feels like a needle dragging or like a cat scratch to me
@@melia1775 oh thanks! I appreciate that you're telling me your experience, it helps me get a better view of it all ❤️ (I'm glad that it went over well with you! )
I want my first tattoo to be of my favorite movie, Treasure Planet. I've been looking online at things to possibly get, but I don't want to copy someone else's tattoo, or fanart without permission. I want to get the big door near the end of the movie, or if not that, then the planet itself. Either one I want the quote "You got the makings of greatness in you, but you gotta take the helm and chart your own course! Stick to it, no matter the squalls!" I'm thinking the arm for the tattoo, possibly my inner forearm. Don't know though. Also, I have pretty sensitive skin, like, if something touches my skin for too long it starts to get irritated. How much of a problem would that be for getting a tattoo?
I would like to get a tattoo above my thumb and it would be the numbers 1969 which is when my parents where born. Is that a good place to put a tattoo?
I’m going to New Zealand this year and I want to get my first tattoo on my calf. Is that a sensitive area? I just thought since it doesn’t have a lot of bone it won’t be

just got my 2nd tattoo yesterday, something i’ve always loved about them is that when i was a kid i would always get picked on for being SO pale, and now instead of people noticing how white i am, they notice my tattoos.
Kassie Lowe same. Struggles of being ginger
The paler you are, the better the contrast between the ink and your skin. Think positive about paleness 😊

The first tattoo I had was on my hand, and contrary to what people say it's not that painful, the most painful for me was my forearm, wich is again what people around me call "the least painful area" lol
My first tattoo is on my ribs. The pain wasn’t so bad, feels like when you go pick blackberries & a thorn gets caught on you
I had my first (tiny) tattoo on my wrist and it wasn't painfull at all, what's more for me it was the best placement and decision I've ever made so all depends on the person
Getting my first tattoo on Friday! Wish me luck :)
Your tattoos look well define. Whoever did you tattoos did them really well
My first tattoo and only currently is script below my collar bone !
Because my arms are covered in moles I had to have my first one on my wrist etc. 😭 but it worked out
yeah i want to be absolutely covered so i want to make sure i place my first ones smart
As someone who got their first tattoo on the right wrist (I’m right handed), I wish i could change the location. I still love it but since it is so visible, it makes it hard to hide and unfortunately not all jobs are accepting of tattoos yet.
Thankyouu for the idea
This is going to be my first tattoo I would like to get above my breast area is that a very painful area and do all tattoos places have numbing cream love your video u r the best
Got my first two tattoos in one sitting at 14, one on the wrist (it's not too hard to hide and not super painful) the second one was on my shoulder blade (this was the least painful out of the two and easy to hide but can still be shown off) and then for my 16th birthday I decided I wanted another one... I had the wonderful idea of a sunflower the size of my hand on my ribs, I gotta say that one definitely didn't tickle
How old are you now? Did they stretch out weirdly ?
I am almost 17 and the one on my wrist needs a touch up but the one on my shoulder is still good, these were done by the same artist. The one on my ribs is still super bright and beautiful. I wouldn't say they stretched just didn't take to well.
Trinidi Spence ok thanks! I’m gonna planning on getting very small like work on wrist and I just don’t want it to look strange in the future
Im looking to get my first tattoo on the left hand side of my stomach just above my leg where the bobbly bit of bone is
My first tattoo was on my right neck almost pass out put made all the way lol
Also couple my friends first tattoos was face, chest, hand we were like whoa also it was kinda funny at first because we were like it looked like they had a bunch of tattoos but those were their first but after they got more it balanced out haha
My first was my ankle, then my second was the crease of my arm.... that one hurt a lot. Getting my third on my shoulder and I really hope it hurts a lot less because I am a wuss
my first tattoo was placed on my thigh over scars and it was colored and shaded. 8 hour session
My first tattoo was an inner arm tattoo!!
I’m getting my first tattoo on my right shoulder blade, like on my back
I'm planning on getting an upper stomach/underboob piece for my first tattoo after lockdown and I know it will be expensive and painful but I'm not really worried about that, my biggest fear is the tattoo artist being hesitant because it's my first one 😂🤷🏻♀️
My friends have said I should get something else in a different place first but I don't want to get a random tattoo just so I can see what it's like, I might as well get something I want right?
This video is just my oppinion, but there are different situations, people and ideas out there and Im not the one who is here to tell u otherwise!
believe me, if you love your tattoo the pain is nothing! its only temporary and you will feel like a badass for going through with it :)
In your oppion what's a better place for a first tattoo if it's some cool decked put wolf peice and It's your sprit animal, should I do my shoulder to that end part if my bicep where it's that line above your fourarm or chest. P.S I will defenitly be getting tons if more in the future and know which ones I want
My forearm was my first and then the top of my spine on the same day, forearm hurt like hell and the top of spine didn’t
My first tattoo was a tattoogram from some famous criminalbiologist from germany on my left arm. Dr. Marc Benecke. A little cricket 😂 a few lines, done in 5 minutes on my lower arm near the bending area. Now sorrounded by a fat oldschool goldfish, pickle rick and a joker and harley quinn tatoo 😂
Never really tough about the placement. It was super spontaneous on a tattoo convention where i met the Doctor. I saw it, we made it. Done within minutes.
A month later i had my firt real tattoo appointment and tattooed my complete right inner arm.
Me getting my first tattoo covering my whole back 😂💀💀
My first tattoo is on my foot it’s large and I’m 17, it didn’t hurt much
Mine was a black and grey half sleeve
Getting my first tattoo in March on my ribs. Super scared but that’s where i really want it. Anybody have an tips for preparation?
so pretty.. im about to get my first one
Im getting my first at 16, thinking about getting a black bleeding diamond on the side of my neck, about an inch long and wide, how bad would the pain be?
How would you describe pain around your spine if you’ve done it before?
I’m only 14 but I know what kind of tatto I want is the wolf eel because it has a lot of the same characteristics and if I ever have the guts to get the first one then I would get something for my gran who died and I was very close to if you have any ideas would you please tell me I dont have a very high pain tolerance my family arent very approving of tattos but auntie is and it would be something special to me because it marks something important but at the same time I wont loose it
Thank you for this video! What do you think about the back of the upper arm for a first tattoo? Or is it unflattering because of the obvious elbow that would be below it?
I got my first tattoo on my nape at 18, it didn't hurt at all🌞
I just got my 1st tattoo 3 days ago
Am i the only one that was looking at her tattoos all the video?
They re Amazing
your tattoos are so dark still and not faded looking at all. do you use spf30/tattoo sunscreen? i’m getting my first one on my forearm soon (starting a sleeve). was wondering how to keep them fresh and dark looking.
i’m getting my first tattoo on my thigh in two days!! i’m so excited!!!!
Nice!! How did it go and what did you get?? I'm getting mine on the 26th of August!!
Jopo my tattoo took about 2 and a half hours and really wasn’t that painful until the end because my skin was irritated by that point. it feels like a needle dragging or like a cat scratch to me
@@melia1775 oh thanks! I appreciate that you're telling me your experience, it helps me get a better view of it all ❤️ (I'm glad that it went over well with you! )
what do you think about first smaller tattoo placed under collarbone?
I want my first tattoo to be of my favorite movie, Treasure Planet. I've been looking online at things to possibly get, but I don't want to copy someone else's tattoo, or fanart without permission. I want to get the big door near the end of the movie, or if not that, then the planet itself. Either one I want the quote "You got the makings of greatness in you, but you gotta take the helm and chart your own course! Stick to it, no matter the squalls!"
I'm thinking the arm for the tattoo, possibly my inner forearm. Don't know though. Also, I have pretty sensitive skin, like, if something touches my skin for too long it starts to get irritated. How much of a problem would that be for getting a tattoo?
I recommend if ur getting ur first tattoo get it on ur finger, it doesn’t hurt as much and can be very discreet
Will not heal like u really wanted,it will not last.
You Dumb? I’ve had mine for 3 years now and has looked the same ever since
Getting my first tattoo today and it’s gonna be on my right shoulder blade 😬
Good luck :)
I would like to get a tattoo above my thumb and it would be the numbers 1969 which is when my parents where born. Is that a good place to put a tattoo?
My first was on my left outer calf
No me stressing out cause Now I can’t decide between the in forearm or in the inner arm
How painful would the tricep be for a first tattoo?
My first tattoo was on the outside of my ankle lol
What do you think about a finger tattoo as the first one?
My first tattoo was in my inner bicep wasn’t too bad
I’m going to New Zealand this year and I want to get my first tattoo on my calf. Is that a sensitive area? I just thought since it doesn’t have a lot of bone it won’t be
She mentioned in the video it’s bit more painful than thigh but overall not that bad
