    Getting a tattoo soon. Told my mom about it and told me not to get it or get it when I’m 25.. and I’m 22... Wish me luck.

    Both of my parents used to have only one (hideous) tattoo before I got any. They were really open-minded about tattoos and even payed my first tat when I turned 18. I started to get more and more tattoos and they got really into them, too. Now, I have full sleeves and a couple of smaller tats, and both of my parents have like 5 tattoos each, some even took more than one session to make. I wasn't honestly expecting for them to get that excited but I gotta admit, it's pretty cool to have parents like that.
    Oh. And I have stayed in school and not done any stupid things, and they still have their jobs.

    I got a tattoo 1 month ago and my mum freaked out - just to give you a bit of a perspective I'm 30 years old. I got a simple samurai tiger on my chest and when she heard about it she immediately cried. The way I explained it to her is that yes I am Malaysian Chinese but I've also been living in New Zealand my whole life so I identify myself as a kiwi. I love doing kiwi things and part of it is getting a tattoo. I wasn't self-inflicting pain on myself, rather I enjoyed and wanted to have a tattoo my whole life so she shouldn't be stopping me from doing something that would make me happy vice versa. She stopped sobbing then and understood. In my situation I think it helped that I explained to her my logic and thoughts, I hope others reading this find it helpful!
    Keep doing ya thang StyleDogg! Your vids helped big time with the recovery >:)

    I recently emailed a tattoo artist about getting my first tattoo. It’s something I’ve been thinking about for years and his diary opened up, so I thought why not!? Although I’m legally an adult, I still live at home. So out of respect, i’m going to tell my parents. Although I haven’t told them yet and I don’t think I will until my dialogue with the artist and plans start to progress. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous about it!

    My parents do not appreciate tattoo's. When I had my fifth one done and my mom saw it, she actually cried and did not speak to me for a day. But now they have accepted it and they know that I enjoy and love it, so they don't care. I think they realized that I did not change as a person just because of my tattoos, which I think they thought would happen.

    Sometimes it's best to just wait until your older and you have more mature taste. My mom is an old school Jamaican woman so she hates tattoo never let me get one. But when I got my first One, It was actually a tribute to her that I carefully planned for years, I showed that I'm willing sit through hours of pain in her honor and It won her over. Now she's completely fine when I get them. Granted I was also 23 in school, and had a steady job. The shit I would have gotten at 18 would have been cheesy anyways.

    My parents realised I had tattoos about 6 months after getting them and even if they're really small im not allowed to get others until I'm financially stable...

    Awesome video man! I am Indian, and my parents up front were totally the same way. They slowly accepted it, and I know have a neo traditional portrait of their wedding photo on my shin which they show to all their friends at an opportunity :-)

    What is your thought process before getting a tattoo? How do you go about deciding on the design and style you like?

    • @RembooziFitness
      @RembooziFitness 6 лет назад

      Ryan Shearer research. You'll eventually find a style you like and hopefully an artist as well

    Even if you're close with your parents if they're freaking out cause tattoos will make you look like a criminal or trashy that's just unreasonable and false. Yes it's permanent but its your body and they have to trust that even if you end up regretting it you are willing to take that risk or get it removed/covered up. Telling them about it is fine but if they demand you to not get it and give you the silent treatment, that's just silly. As for having an older mentality and thinking you'll start hanging out with the wrong crowd..you would think since these adults have been around this long they might've noticed that things have changed, but they don't.

    I don’t know if I’d say NEGATIVE, but after my second and third my mom would make comments “are you done now?” And “that’s a lot” and afterwards I think she “gave up” in a way and accepted I was going to be tatted up. Unfortunately she passed away a couple of years ago so she would never see how many I have today. My dad on the other hands doesn’t make any comments, I don’t think he really cares honestly I think he’s more on the “it’s your life” or “you’re an adult you make your own decisions” side and acts like he doesn’t even see them lol
