At my age, I don't care what it looks like as long as in works. So I might be looking at something like this in a couple of years and have them for my 70th Birthday Gift to myself.
Outstanding review. At 73, I’ve recently swapped out most of my Ping irons for cobra hybrids. I play 3-7 cobra rail hybrids, ping 8-pw, Cleveland wedges. My game has improved immensely; mostly because my confidence has increased. I’m seriously thinking of “gifting “ myself a set of these t rails, especially after watching this presentation.
Just found this video and have to say that it was great. Got fitted last week and I hit these clubs the best out of about 7 different companies. I ordered my T-Rails the same day and waiting for them to come in. By the way, my birthday was yesterday and I am 71 years old, and feel like these clubs are perfect for me. Will keep you upated. I am subscribing too as you are one of the only people that I have found on youtube to actually respond to comments. Most never respond. Cheers!
Hello Scott regarding the Cobra Trail irons, how are they going. Do you have any issues with the paint work marking from bag knocks or the faces marking. regards.
@@andrewainsworth497 Hi Andrew, yes, I am loving the T-rails. My handicap went down by 5 since using them. I keep headcovers on the irons, so the only place I have seen any wear is where the ball strikes the face. In some spots I have worn the black off, but only in a small area and only on a few of the clubs. Certainly worth the investment. Loving your videos, I always watch the newest ones when you put them on youtube!
@@melwalker2135 I have headcovers on all the clubs, so the only wear I receive is a small area on some of the clubs where the club strikes the ball while hitting. Other than that, the clubs still look great!
I am 76 with an 18 Hcp. I currently play Ping G700 irons. They are great in the shorter irons but my longer irons are losing too much distance. Your video on the Cobra T-Rail irons helped me to make the move to the Cobra T-Rail irons. They came today and will be played next week. I’m looking forward to better control and distance. By the way, they are really sharp looking and look great next to my Ping G woods. This from a former forged iron player!
Hello Jc senior golfer myself (66) playing off 9. Getting issues with arthritis in wrists and neck and thought these in graphite and taking less of a divot may help. Any pros/cons so far? Regards Mel (UK)
Went shopping for irons a couple days ago ago and tried these out, loved them. Could give no cares about what they looked like , they were rockets for me. Felt confident swinging them and miss hits were good and square was amazing. Got fitted and ordered them before i left the store.
Very informative thanks Andrew I've just bought a set , had a custom fit so waiting to get delivered can't wait . I've gone for these as I'm recovering from a very rare cancer where the tumour was taken out of the small of my back I've now lost a lot of power and my swing speed has dropped considerable .Hoping these clubs will help me .
@@SimDeck Hi had a couple of games with theses clubs now and on the driving range and wow I love them very forgiving and have gained 20 to 30 yards back !!
Very good video. I play with Cleveland Launcher HB irons, which are very similar, and I love them. They do look a lot different than traditional irons but for me there is plenty of club in the head which gives me a lot of confidence. Also as you stated in the video they are very forgiving for off-centre hits. The other advantage with this type of club is for chipping from just off the green because they wont't dig in the turf. As a result I no longer use my specialist chipping iron. I think the T-rail system should help in heavier lies. I'm sure that if you can get your average handicap clients to try these you will sell loads of these clubs.
Gee Andrew, the more things change the more they stay the same. Back in the late 1960s Tom Crow introduced a fairway club that had these twin rails. Then they disappeared for a few decades but this hybrid seems to be bringing back the concept. Good review young fellow, Merry Christmas to you and hopes for a prosperous new year.
An excellent review. I would play with them. No issue with that at all. Great review, great product. A hybrid iron mixture. I use the 8 and 9 in a Cleveland HB turbo launcher myself. Love hybrid irons. I find them a great deal of fun. Well done Andrew !
Great review have played HB Launcher and I see Wilson also bringing out Launch pad hybrids. I'm sure all will be good and may come down to looks and price.
Nice video good insight on the hybrids. I've used some hybrid iron bazooka's that were given to me by a friend every bit of 15 years ago and I believe he had them for at least 5 years before that. So my old hybrids 3 iron to PW have been used lots of times and rounds. I just recently had a full shoulder replacement so my game this year is on hold. Hopefully I'll be able to get at it next year 2021? These clubs look nice and once I'm able to hit again I'll definitely try these out also will try the Wilson and the Cleveland hybrids will try a Steele shaft and graphite to see how my arm reacts to them. Hybrids are easier to hit and that's what I like about them
Great video. Just at the point of going to look at these. I wonder if you have been able to evaluate the higher lofted clubs (PW, AW) for full swing and touch shots around the green.
Hi, Great review thanks. I had a fitting this morning fully expecting to end up with a SIM Max, OS, Mavrik with all the marketing over the forgiveness etc As a golfer who has played for years but not regularly, never breaking the 100, I was looking for a forgiving club.. with the ability to get some distance, as at 60 with joint issues I really needed something to help me. Must say so surprised by the T Rail... not something I considered or seen. The gave me the height I was looking for, good distance and even when I caught it fat/thin the club got the ball away. It was also very consistently straight compared to others which varied. Ordered these and cant wait to get them to start to play with them. Just need a driver that does the same now!! any suggestion welcome :-)
Hello Graham like yourself senior golfer (65) with wrist joint issues. Was looking at the T rail irons any pros/cons you can make me aware of. Regards Mel
Great video just got fitted for these and really looking forward to getting them - yes my problem was in my head SHOULD I HIT HYBRID IRONS and you have answered that - I found punch shots in the fitting area felt really good - ordered 6 - AW as have F8 hybrids - I just wondered if you thought the sand wedge was worth adding for chipping - thanks again Robert
Think it's a great beginner's club or senior/ladies due to forgiveness and launch. Still think the new cobra forged tec is for me. Just unsure whether or not to go one length 👍
I just got them in one length about 3 weeks ago. Hardest adaption for me is 9 to Gap wedge. Yardages for each are what I expect from those clubs, it's just getting the proper set up with correct ball position in place due to the longer shaft each time. Want to default to the "old" setup. 5 and 6 irons are easier to hit by far. Overall I am very happy as my left-right dispersion has noticeably narrowed with the whole set and feel is comparable to my old 790's. Distance is respectable for me but dispersion more important due to my course being narrow with small greens. Started practicing at a range with Toptracer and confirming what I noticed dispersion-wise. Looking forward to playing them in 2020.
@@simmonsfoursome just purchased some f7 one length for £160. 2 rounds in, very positive. I'll keep them for a few months and then go get custom fit on the new cobra forged tec irons 2020. Think everyone should try them

Thanks for the amazing review Andrew. I am curious have you done a review for the Cobra F-Max Airspeed irons or even played with them? I am looking to get new irons and I am between the Cobra T-Rail or the Cobra F-Max Airspeed. My handicap is about 17+. So my question is which irons do you think would be best for me? As I tend to hit slice more often than going straight. From 150 yards out I usually use a 6 iron but sometimes a 7 iron. I am fairly new to golf as I have been playing for about a year. Any thoughts or recommendation from you I would love to hear. Thank you
Hi, not done a review on those irons yet. Will try and do that for you soon. My best advice is to find a Cobra Fitting Centre and get a fitting. Best regards Andrew
Excellent review Andrew. Can you tell me if these are available in different lie options and with the rails on the bottom would you use the lie board and tape as usual or probs mark the t rails with felt tip etc.
Thanks for the video. I just bought a set of T-Rails and went looking for an instructional video on how to hit them. There’s nothing on the Cobra site and all the rest of the videos are for conventional 3-5 hybrids. I’m interesting in knowing how to hit the shorter T-Rails most effectively. Things such as where to place the ball on set-up and what adjustments I should make to my swing. Just guessing, I’m assuming that I should place the ball a little further forward than with a conventional iron and use a flatter swing. But what else? I really want to make sure I get the maximum benefit from these clubs. Any comments?
Hi Jamie, don't think there is a one size fits all answer to tour question. I would start out using your normal swing and ball position and see how it goes. If you start catching them heavy or feel to0 steep at impact then adjust the ball position forward. Trial and error approach!!!
Thanks for the quick reply. I also sent a note to Cobra Golf asking them to post some videos on how to get the most from their clubs. Once the COVID panic clears, I’ll get back to the pro at my Club and get a lesson or two after I’ve worked with them a bit on the range. These short hybrids are still pretty new and it will likely be learn as we go. Cheers!
Hi David, for me personally they were to light, I am used to a heavier stiffer shaft. Its all about getting the right shaft to suit you. Best regards Andrew
I have seen a few reviews saying these are for seniors. I am only 29 and not a great golfer so am looking for something like these that are a bit more forgiving, would this work in your opinion? Or is it really designed for someone who can’t put quite as much power behind them?
Hi Nick, would disagree that these clubs are aimed at senior golfers only, as I say to a lot of my customers golf is a very difficult game, anything that makes it easier is a good move in my book.
Those t rails! Distance, height, spin, forgiveness. Wow, just wow! If people could get over their ego's they would be a no brainer to 90% of recreational golfers
