It’s just awesome that a 10 min Prog metal song can trend number 1 in this day in age. Huge day for the metal community and obviously for Tool.
No doubt fam!!!
Agreed!!
Paradiddle44 damn right
I get that tool is characterized as prog Metal, but this to me is straight alternative hard rock with some prog elements in the middle. Super radio friendly in terms of the emotion and sound of the song, but also very not-radio friendly because it takes a long time for the song to actually get going and requires patience from the listener. Love the song and already pre-ordered the physical cd package!
I can agree with you even if tool does not consider themselves metal in such a format as genre
This is what area 51 was hiding from us, the new tool album

Here's one for the TOOL Mathematical freaks...the word "Mitosis" is at 5:11 into the song ..the EXACT middle of the track... Mitosis means spitting a living cell in half....MIND BLOWN !
Mike D Hats off to you for finding that out
Love Tool's use of math in their songs. Not sure people realize their brilliance. Using Fibonacci Sequence, etc is just amazing.
@@tammynorman3648 wait, I only know they used the fibonacci sequence. Did they use any other math reference somewhere else in their discography?
2nd easter egg! much thanks

Going to a Tool concert you will see the most diverse crowd ever. Every age, background, race. It's a beautiful thing to look around and see. They're all in one place enjoying Tool, each other and the moment.
I've only seen tool once. But while there in the middle of the show, I had this feeling that all of us fans were now connected. Throughout the future we would have this one strand that connected us all. This one experience. This single Moment In Time. Tool
I was think the same thing. Young and old.. it's an amazing experience
Same thing with Radiohead
The only concert crowd I have seen that is more diverse than tool is Roger Waters
I was at a Tool concert around 2011, the dark atmosphere with a rush of energy, I can’t explain it, felt like thousands of us were summoning a demon
hard to believe but Danny Cary is 58!!! a legendary BADASS
We saw him in Louisville on Danny's birthday.
We all sang Happy Birthday to him at Maynard's request.
Can't wait for the Fall world tour.

What I hate about this channel is that I'm only just discovering it. These guys just love music. I find them incredibly insightful. I love how they break down the songs.
My favourite thing about watching Ryan and George, is watching them listen to songs I've loved for years for the first time. The looks on their faces, watching them rock out. It almost feels like I'm sharing my fave song with a friend, and I'm eager to see if they like it.
Thanks for this. The timing of finding this channel couldn't have come at a better time

I just found them last night. I've been up all night going through other reactions. Fell DEEP into that rabbit hole. 7 hours later, haven't found my way out yet, lol.
Exactly why i love these guys as well. you get to feel like you’re enjoying a common interest with old friends.
On top of that, they're just great hosts!
Ya, you totally nailed it with this comment. Well said.
This whole album is a modern classic.
A sprawling beast of an album that we'll be exploring for the next decade. Absolutely love it!

This song is like seeing an old friend for the first time in years, and starting back from where you left off.
Haha! Yeah, right! 😁
Hello old friend
after 13 years
Only difference is, this particular friend has grown and become a much better version than you remember them to be. Nonetheless, still the same person
Let me just say this guys.
When 10,000 Days came out I was 13. I'm 26 now. I literally had to wait half of my life for more TOOL.
I nearly had a heart attack when I woke up this morning 😵
I was 20 when Opiate came out and hooked me, 21 when Undertow pointed a new direction, 25 when Aenima infected my mind with joy, 30 when Lateralus pulled me back under, 35 when 10,000 days embraced me and said, "More can be." So, I have no idea what this trip is like for you, but glad you're here hearing.
Me too ill be 26 Sep 8th
I'm getting the special box set for my bday and im soooo hype 😄
I saw them live for the first time when I was 16 and I was instantly addicted. That was Lollapalooza 97. Moral of the story? Doesn't matter when or where, once they get their hooks you, you're done! lol
13 years and you haven't moved on to better music?
I'm just joshin' ya! I have no idea what else you listen to, probably some really good shit. I just hope your reaction to this song isn't as forced as LiV's was. The shit's boring and uninspired. Sounds like everything else they've done since Lateralus. Tool has been phoning it in for two decades now.
When they got the stanky faces on you know they're feeling it 😂😂
Holly Roxy that’s an awesome description of that face lol.
Holly Roxy that is the samething i look for to know if they really are feeling a song or a someone
Lol..... awesome reply....gonna think about it every time I see it on them now
Stanky Nasty Face by Ryan and George = They love it
Took my 17 year old son and 19 year old to the concert and they felt the beauty for the first time. Just seeing my kids rocking out was awesome.
Epic!
You beautiful bastards. So glad y'all reacted to this. I've literally been waiting 1/3rd of my life for this song to drop.
Kenneth Robertson I’m 23 and never got to dive in to Tool’s collection until it was released on Spotify, even though my dad was always obsessed. However as a Glassjaw fan I feel your pain, we waited 15 years for a new album. Can’t wait until the 30th!
@@brysonrichey6707 Tool entering the digital age was so long overdue. There's gonna be so many new fans entering the fold thanks to being on streaming platforms it's gonna be awesome.

Music is about to change dramatically!
Me as a hard core tool fan:
First listen: meh... this is alright
Second listen: ok... ummmm
Third listen: THIS IS AMAZING
MEandSound same, I was a changed 15 year old when Lateralus came out. My enthusiasm for them waned especially with 10k days(I think that might be my least favorite Tool album). The first listen this morning was like yours, ok that was Tool. 3 listens later, I’m starting to feel 15 years old again and starting to get excited for the new album.
Exactly! Well stated! 100% accurate! Whenever I play any Tool, either on an instrument, or an original recording around someone not familiar with Tool, I usually tell them the exact same thing! Great comment! I can't wait for this album to tour! I seen Them once in Roanoke, VA where I am from after I got home from Germany( I missed Them there Damn it!)! I hope They have the Tampa Bay area in mind when The Guys decide to bring Their newest Masterpiece to the world! Absolutely stoked!

Me as a not so hardcore Tool fan (only discovered them a few years ago): MASTERPIECE
After couple times this song still feels boring and refusing to progress forward. I assume this is like Parabol and Parabola and next song Tool releases is the good one. This was pretty damn lame.
"My approach is to be part of a band that makes music, not hit songs"
-Adam Jones
Amen Mr. Jones. Preach
Awesome
*manages to do both*
Exactly. And that is the fundamental change their style has gone through. That's why some people aren't as into it, because they want another Sober, while the real fans like myself love stuff like Third Eye, all of lateralus, Pushit, all of 10k days, and fear inoculum.
Hugo Stiglitz someone I reacted to said it so well. Their music is a gift. I am so grateful for this band I’m down for hearing anything they come out with. I don’t ever see myself saying “I wish they would have done this or that”. I’ll just enjoy the ride and whatever they come out with I’m going to be accepting of it and know I’ll love it!

Good music is good music doesn't matter the genre. When someone new starts at my job they are amazed my playlists go all over the place from metal to rap to reggage then some sam cooke or al green will play then some johnny cash. Being able to appreciate great music is a gift
It shouldnt be an Issue worth commenting on, but sadly there is so much prejudice against this music for being "white men music", and thats just not true. This music doesnt has an age, a race or gender, its just music.
Lovingly discovered Tool in '95, and have grown with them, but never expected this album. Exceeded EVERYTHING I thought they would do. All the other albums led to this masterpiece. IF they make another album, it'll be hard to top this.

TOOL CAME BACK TO RESTORE ORDER 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I’m so f**king happy today! I loved this. I’ve been listening to TOOL since the early 90’s, and have seen them a dozen times live. Their sound has changed a lot over the years, but I love every phase they’ve gone through. Every album of theirs is an absolute masterpiece, imo. I hear them paying homage to some of their other songs in here, as well as APC... but that doesn’t bother me in the least. I love it.
Kory Linn tool is the best!
Tool ruined me. Seeing Sober and Prison Sex at 14 on MTV then becoming a Tool'fanatic since made me let down by 99.999% of all other bands. I'm 40 now and can only listen to Tool, Deftones, and NIN...
Shaun Healy I understand - and I’m 41, so right there with you lol
NIN live is mind blowing too, by the way! And not just because I have an unhealthy crush on Trent Reznor 😂🤦🏻♀️
"call us all to walk in order"
My fav album is opiate..then lateralus...just shows my respect for all tool eras lol
After about the fifth listen, I realized that this is absolutely my favorite Tool song. A masterpiece.
Long time Tool fan here, and I enjoyed FI on the first listen.... but it probably wasn't until the 4th or 5th playthrough that I realized just what a masterpiece this song is. I'm stoked for the 30th!
This is an amazing song but there are at least 3 other songs on this album that just destroy this one. Been listening to it for 2 days NON STOP. It is a masterpiece.
@@Chnkp Then I really have something to look forward to on Friday!
Just one more day guys
Alright guys, it’s August 30th, 2019. An entirely new generation has been gifted with their first TOOL album. Time for a marathon album review!
Yeah this generation didn’t deserve it haha.
Can we just talk about how amazing Maynard sounds, his vocals are perfect.
Noah Cooper near perfection in terms of clean. But I reaalllyyy hope he adds a bit of distortion
Does Maynard use a slight pitch correction, aka autotone, some of the runs sound very unnatural and automated and I could understand why he would in this song to fit the whole feel. More less just curious
We can't, because his lyrics are uninspired, his melodies are boring, his rhythms are stale, and his voice is weak. He sounds like an old union worker who just cashes his check every week and is counting the days until retirement.
@@reshpeck 😂😂😂
Reshpeck why are you here? Are you being sarcastic or do you just go to tool videos trying to find people who like Maynard so you can share your unpopular opinion?

Tool and Pink Floyd. You don't listen to them, you experience them.
amen to that
What's great about is, tool is sounding like pink floyd yet they are denied the genre. To them they're not progressive.
You forgot about Dream Theater too
It's like Pantera you don't ask them how, they tell you how to mosh...
Exactly
"TOOL came back to restore order!" I love it. Thanks guys...I love your love for TOOL xoxoxoxox
You guys gotta do Right in Two. You'll love it.
the lyrics in that song are phenomenal and ring true.
The Grudge has to be next though. Right in Two is amazing but it's a slow burner.
Yeah man first song i heard from them and i got what the fuss was all about.
That is my favorite song in history. Best song ever.
I never got around to liking Right in Two, no hate, I just dont care much for it.

That's George!
That needs to be a T-shirt ASAP
You're right, guys. My bad. I was enjoying their reaction so much I forgot the difference between left and right. (Early onset of Alzheimer's, maybe?) 😄
Hardcore tool fan here. This is close to perfection for me. Tool has always been something for me to listen to and lose myself in. To focus on the groove and just feel the flow. This song is pure groove, and because of that I feel like it will hold up to the test of time. I can easily see myself listening to this song 20+ years from now in the same way I'm listening to Lateralus now, and I can't ask for anything more than that. Absolutely worth the wait, and so happy y'all jumped on this reacting to it the same day it dropped.
U nailed it, feel exactly the same, exciting times ahead
Dude. I love Tool. But the production on this track is far from perfect. It's not a bad composition but not on Lateralus level.
Chill bro.
Good track tho
I found this track pretty boring. The song essentially has 2 different sections, which is miserably monotone for Tool. I liked the other 2 songs much more than this one.
Although i must say that this is still Tool, so it's still not bad
Daniel Schmidt That's just like, your opinion, man.
the more you listen to this song the better it gets..its just an insane song..and album
I love how much u dudes appreciate TOOL...You 2 understand exactly how they operate!! #respect
That new band logo is BOMB.
I had to drive about 80 miles today, and I listened to nothing but Tool on Spotify. Best. Day. Ever.
I've been listening all day at work since they started streaming
I agree! I love the new logo
I’m a truck driver and their catalogue has been steadily playing since release day.
The new logo is like the band from the 70s Angel's logo. Same right side up and upside down.
i noticed the Golden Spiral in their new logo, very nice!!
LOVED that this song reached #1 trending on RUclips.
It was the number one ITunes single two hours after it dropped. I shoulda checked at the ten minute mark lol
I'm 33 and been a Tool fan since I was teenager. I used to say that old Tool whoops on new Tool, but the band has reached such a developed and realized level of musicianship that it's hard for me not to admit that FEAR INOCULUM is a mother f**king BEAST of an album... Talk about a band that actually gets better with time. Most bands tend to sell out, go soft, fade away, or write their best material early. Tool is talented, powerful and interesting. They are good enough to keep their listeners interested even through these long songs.
Wow there are a lot of comments for you guys to go through. My condolences. I'm just here to state the obvious. You have to do the entire album, song by song. No way around it.
This album is probably one of the top 10 most anticipated of all time 🤘 rock will never die
I dont remember this much hype for 1 album
progressive metal will never die harder
@Comicbookstoreguy177 not wrong always worth waiting for because you know its gonna be the nuts
Dude, They are Anunnaki of Music!
As a lover of cinema, and TOOL, this band, to me, is the equivalent of Stanley Kubrick for music. Every little thing matters, they're unpressured by time when it comes to satisfaction with the results, they're conscious and focused on their theme, and they're impeccable craftsmen. Every album is distinct, but identifiable as 'them', and there's nobody else that's 'them'. And when they're gone, there will never be another 'them'.
Adam Charles well said, and the number of bands like that: >5
This comparison is perfect
Well said
That is a great comparison... it’s so true
So well said. They can only be one tool and ever will be. They're drive to perfection is constant no corners are cut and hence why not one bad record bares they're name.
You need to react to Tool’s Wings for Marie pt. 1/10,000 days (wings pt. 2). You will get goose bumps......guaranteed. It’s long, but worth it.
Absolutely. I was actually thinking the same thing. The part in this song at 14:28 gives me goosebumps, but yeah wings part 2 does even more. The part, "High is the way but all eyes are upon the ground section especially. Hell, that song makes me tear up. Only song in existence that does that
One of the best descriptions I've heard. The Tool genre is just "Tool"! 👍
Another reaction guy called them Euphoric Metal. Like that too.
Been a great week for Tool fans... new album, Spotify, Joe Rogan interview and Lost In Vegas reaction

Tool is like Rush in one very important way: no band can ever sound like them, or do what they do PERIOD.🤘🖖🎸🥁🎤✌️
Word!
Just saw this. I wrote above how they are not like Rush. Yet I agree with the sound genuineness.
The best thing about Tool is how we all feel that closure that occurs when the time signatures/poly rhythms sync up. That crescendo timing is why everyone who listens feels it. I am just so glad I exist in the time Tool is making music. Easily, and for 2 decades now, my favorite band of all time. They are all such geniuses. Thank you Tool!
Please consider experiencing Tool's Parabol/Parabola down the line

Don't remember where I saw it now, but I believe it's been mentioned that Maynard's days of screaming are pretty much over. And probably for good reason, too.
Singleballtheory heavy could mean a lot than vocals. I expect at least one or two songs with powerful head banging riffs.
@@MrTShbib There definitely is. For example Invincible has those (they've played that live)
I think Tool tend to have songs that are riff laden and powerful and some that are atmospheric but always thought provoking and intelligent. This falls into the atmospheric category imo.

Thanks for reacting to this track. I hadn't heard it yet. It definitely expounds on the Tool I know mostly from Lateralus. There is this mystical, primal and psychedelic quality to the lyrical and musical synergy. I am a guy born in the 60's and I think Tool is the greatest thing since. For me. Since I am a mystical, primal and psychedelic kind of guy. :)
Really took multiple listens. The first time I was satisfied but not blown away. Now that I've heard it like 10 times it's on par with anything they have done.
it's the greatest thing they've ever done
swingonthespiral I can 100% agree with this. I have listened to this about 28 times (I have even memorized the lyrics) and can not wait for this new album!
Couldnt agree more...it grows
swingonthespiral I loved it. Like you it took me a few listens to appreciate all it was doing as a song. If I had one criticism it’s that I feel Maynard could have done more with his vocals though it was still awesome. My guess is they didn’t want the lyrics to overstate the music.
I had the exact same reaction. I thought “well this sounds like them, no surprises” but then I left it on repeat and literally listened to it for several hours nonstop. What else can you do that with? Now I absolutely love the tune and can’t wait for 8/30

that just means they have alot of experience. Its not like Healthy Humans degenerate in their fiftys lol.
Paul Cicero crap dude that was worded so creatively it’s great kudos...
@@TheBlackfall234 What other "Healthy Humans" write music like this in their 50's? I'll wait.. LOL
When this song hit. It HITS. Probably one of the most powerful songs they have ever created.
TOOL is a journey. They are an evolution. They are an experience. They make you traverse on a spiritual expedition. GREAT reaction fellas. You were VERY respectful to the band and the level of talent that they bring. GREAT stops. You stopped the song at perfect moments, then made your points. I also like how after you pause the song, you pick the song back up a few seconds before where you paused it. This enables the viewers to get back in the moment. EXCELLENT reaction.
It sounds like everything you’ve heard by Tool and nothing like they’ve done before all at the same time. I guess it’s true that absence makes the heart grow fonder. After Aenima I lost my taste for Tool’s music but with this release I have travelled back in time and smacked myself for not sticking with them the whole way.
MRV8R I went back in time and smacked you too!😎
That's a shame because lateralus and 10,000 days are phenomenal albums
Lateralus is in my top 10 albums of all time
Jealous. I want to hear them afresh too :(
juice Box that’s fuckin funny man 👌
Yes!!! Please do an album review when it comes out. I know it's a lot of work, but it would be so awesome
I think they shouldn't do an album review..but song by song and stretch it out. Listen to each one. For you and me.
@@jokergreeting that would be dope
I would watch that!!!
Evan West sure. Keep in mind, they can still do that. They just edit it to 7 videos.
I keep coming back to this video... And the reaction to pneuma, often..
Love the excitement.
Also please do right in two
Same...exactly...and in order too so U can rewatch their evolution into this album. Somethings wrong with me but I like it.
The best fear inoculum reaction video I’ve seen so far.
This was Tool's response to your Progressive Metal Tournament results
LaCrossian haha!!!! Right!!!??? 😂😂😂😂
I get chills everytime I hear the chorus .
There’s a chorus?
@@dubyajayyo the part where he sings 'exhale,expell..'
Me too. I wouldnt mind one more at the end with a ”Vicarious-vibe” to it
That's what tool does they touch your soul!! It's beautiful
Goose bumps
10:50 when the song is so good that Ryan makes a George-face.
C’mon, who’s here with me re-reacting to this, putting a smirk on your face and feeling proud to be a TOOL fan in 2022, spiral out kids 🌀 !
You guy's ability to interpret and appreciate songs like this on FIRST listen is impressive. I'm a huge Tool fan and even for me this song was a grower.
Keep it up guys! React to the whole album when it drops!
Agree! I often wonder if they have musical backgrounds or if they're just that dang perceptive.
This shit touched my soul in ways that music very rarely does. Wow.
Bawse Hog same
Me too. The wait is over.
Bless this immunity
You should listen to their actual good songs. Go and give Lateralus album a listen.
Your review was on point and actually inspiring for recognizing this musical talent. I’m a huge fan of tool and now a huge fan of you too. And I’m a Vegas guy. Keep it up guys
Guys... I saw them Nov 2 here in Indianapolis, and it was one of the greatest experiences of my entire life. They are hands down, the best band of all-time in my ever so humble opinion. Y'all need to do the entire album. Let's gooo!
Fear Innoculum plays like Tool taking us on a walking tour of their greatest hits and I'm here for it.
Steven Crampton yes! My thoughts exactly!
Yes! Exactly.
Fear Enema!
Exactly!!
Yes so true
Perfect mix of every Tool album without sounding like a played out version of themselves. Too stoked for the full album. Great review.
Luke I’m sure that’s why it took so long. Would be hard to do
They also have enough money to take their time
I only feel Lateralus and 10,000 days in this... Maybe a little bit of Ænema
@@johnarbuckle7648 yea they're far off from anything related to undertow
Trying to figure out when to pause a Tool song for commentary is like trying to figure out when to take a drink of your soda while riding in a race car blindfolded. You're just being subjected to such radical changes at such random intervals that you eventually just give up and wait to the end.
TenTonNuke best comment ever
I've been waiting for this review/reaction!! You guys did NOT disappoint! 💚💚💚
I gotta be honest, when he said "exhale, expel" for the first time I just cried, I got goosebumps all over.
blitz34 very powerful chorus
yeah that part got me by surprise as well, sounds amazing. and the build-up towards it is fantastic.
@Dowhat Iwant YoU MiGhT NeEd To SeE a PsYcHiAtRiSt
You seriously cried? Crybaby
It's not that powerful to me, sounds the same as their other stuff (some of it is ripped from Reflection) look forward to seeing what else their album offers.
this song is so hauntingly beautiful...
Loving Maynard's vocals
His singing was more like what he does in his two other bands and it surprised me and it took me a until the second listen to like it but now I get chills from his singing. It was a little bit of a shock to hear him like this in a tool song
@@sablemae8853 It is a little different now that you mention it. Sounds like A Perfect Circle. You nailed it, I couldn't put my finger on it.
Isn’t it!!!! I absolutely luv it!!
@@thomasferrarojr.9772 yeah admittedly my first listen wasn't very optimal so I put my headphones on and the swelling back and forth of the guitar and Carey adding nuanced tabla sounds with chancellor restraining himself for the first half until that transition,it all was great then. It was Maynard's singing that took me a minute to process. I've heard him like this but not in a tool song but when I just stopped listening and let go it just grew on me and now I hear the chanting part or the talking part it gives me chills
That 14:29 is such a powerful move, having the instruments return to sync after all that auditory chaos
Best part of the song. Glad they appreciated it.
Thank you for being open minded...I love all of your reactions!!!.....I WILL become a patreon!!.....y'all are the best reaction channel by and large......thank you for reacting to country and metal and hip hop .....the way it's supposed to be.....just heard ....as music...I appreciate you guys and respect you for just that.....for being naturally objective.....keep up the good work!
I saw someone comment on another video that once Maynard starts singing it feels like meeting a long lost friend. I can't remember hearing him with such a clean and warm tone before. His clean higher notes are as strong as ever! The warmth of the guitar tone and the clear bass really takes you to another world. This is psychedelic metal at its best.
thosava I noticed the clarity of his clean vocals on the latest A Perfect Circle album and it’s incredible.
Michael Dison Have you listened to any Puscifer ? There’s some amazing vocals on a few records.
Psychedelic metal?
@@jakegraham3758 Yeah, I'd call this more psychedelic metal than prog metal.
@@skeezerish not a lot. I've tried a few songs but the music didn't interest me like Tool does. Got any recommendations outside of the most famous tracks?
Tools best quality, by far, is that they never rush anything. Everything is deliberate and purposeful.
Or a lawsuit fucks them over
"TOOL came back to restore order"
"The title of the the genre is
TOOL"
These boys have ingenious opinions that are dead on. ♥️
You guys just earned yourselves a new fan for this. Thank you. Tool has been my favorite since I was introduced to them 17 years ago at the age of 12. I was the only girl at my high school that openly and excitedly talked about their music. I would want forever about my absolute favorite song Right in Two (which I would love to see you guys react to). Thank you for doing this for a band that truly deserves recognition, for their musical and technical prowess, as well as their determination to use their craft to raze awareness about the most important issues and emotions we all face. This matters so very much, and as a result, I have subscribed to your channel and look forward to seeing your future videos. Thanks again.
