Probably due to mutual respect. However, the geniuses of our generation all seem to be very condescending to those they believe are beneath them or those that who ask questions that the geniuses deem juvenile and/or simplistic.

I remember reading an interview where he spoke about how difficult it was to perform WINGS FOR MARIE live, because of the emotionally vulnerable nature of it, and because of the meathead consumer concert dudes in attendance who would not appreciate sentiment or real expression. Amazing at how profound, and how blatantly obvious the enormous impact of having an actual artist (Lars) interviewing another artist (Maynard), and the difference it makes towards the overall success of content, compared to the typical radio dj, podcast host, or average fan that's usually conducting the interview. 8:22 Maynard is probably the only vocalist I've heard mention he let's the music tell him what to do. It makes so much sense why everything he does couldn't be done by anyone else. When I did songwriting I struggled so hard to make songs work. Because I would force a topic or emotion on a song that was telling me to do something else. I love it.

They are both part of a Mega-Band (which are a dying breed in the new age of social media), they are both quite a bit self centered yet aware of it. They have a lot in common and it makes it easy to talk. Maynard was the most relaxed I've seen him in an interview
