    Given the looming hybridization of the 992.2 and the debates about steering-by-wire, I'm left nostalgic for the pure, analog feel of Porsches of former times. 🚗💨 However, looking at the Taycan, there's hope Porsche can marry technology and emotion seamlessly. Fingers crossed the 992 GT2 lives up to the legacy! 🤞🏼 Anyone else missing the raw connection of older Porsches but also intrigued by the future? 🔥🛣 #PorscheEvolution

    The reason why the 911 is growing in popularity is that its the only TRUE ICE sports car Porsche has left! Most people DONT WANT AN EV sports car

    • @ilmostro16
      @ilmostro16 Год назад

      One thing everyone forgets is that young people today don’t care about cars very much, especially not ICE cars. So if these companies want to stay in business in the long run, they will have to adapt and change to appeal to future generations. Those of us who love the sound of an ICE 911 won’t live forever and sooner than later we will retire. Heck, when I ride past teenagers these days on my loud amazing Ducati, not one looks. The young generation couldn’t care less about this stuff, they can’t be bothered to even look up from whatever is on their phones. When I was a teen, seeing a bike like mine go past making its sweet sound would be the best thing I saw that day lol.

      People wouldn't mind EV sports cars if companies went with the Hyundai approach and embraced EV rather than send the message "We know EV's kinda suck, but look, it's kinda like an ICE. Sort of." where Hyundai with the Ioniq 5 N doesn't pretend it's a fake ICE car and just goes "This is a cool fun sports EV." compare it with an electric 500 Abarth or something? That thing is a joke in comparison.

    Porsches are amazing, and I'm excited for the future.
    I just picked up a Taycan GTS and it is substantially better than any EV I test drove. It has Porsche's suspension tuning and driver-focused feel. It has minimal "EV" throttle issues (I HATE Tesla's throttle feel). I'm shocked by how much I love the car, and I've mainly driven the Taycan since I picked it up. It is night and day compared to the Tesla Model S. The Lucid Air is much better than the Tesla, but it's no Porsche.

The crazy thing is I see more Porsche 911s in one day in America than I saw in nearly a month in Central Europe (I rode a motorcycle through 8 different countries). I didn't see a single Lamborghini, or Ferrari.....the most exotic car I saw was a 911 GT3 RS at a dealership in Sweden. Every chance I get I rev my little 3.4L Carrera to redline while I still can, BUT at 40 years of age I have a lot of life left in me and I look forward to the blistering performance machines that Porsche will develop over the next decade. Once in the seat of something new most people quickly forget about their nostalgic principles and embrace what they now have.

      I’m not as optimistic as you (at 39yo)… I don’t want fast… I want FUN, and engagement, and until solid state or some jump in battery tech starts to handle the (pun intended) elephant in the room… weight, I think that cars that are blisteringly fast are only good at getting you out in jail faster.
      The old adage rings true: “it’s more fun to drive a slow car fast than it is to drive a fast car slow”
      If you only get one second of fun before you’re at lose-your-license speeds, what’s the fun in that? Stats are cool, but you’ll be constantly feathering the gas pedal trying to PREVENT the car from doing exactly what it’s designed for…

      I actually just sold my 992.1 GTS, which I tuned and put a catless exhaust on, it was good for 630+ hp and 585ft-lbs torque, basically a lighter weight Turbo S. It was fun for a week, but it gets old quick sadly… maybe it’s just me. There weren’t many places to actually use all that power safely, and I was constantly trying to not use the power because (at least in CA) there’s a lot of other cars on the road 🤷🏽‍♂️

Automatic transmission is popular for ordinary people like us. Not every one is like racing& speed for the car, We did not drive fast. ^^. Don't worry, there are professionals who have been working on this for years and have a lot of engineering experience. In aviation, by the way, this has also been around for many years, or do you think that all the flight maneuvers are still controlled by the pilot with mechanical linkages? Ofc not! Braking and steering by wire - well, there goes brake feel and steering feedback. 994 GT models losing the current N/A power plant is like having the patriach of the family die... A total disaster and no amount of Turbo power can make up for it. It's such a dangerous decade ahead for lovers of sports cars.

    • @sturmeko
      @sturmeko Год назад

      You can make feedback with steer by wire. You need to have an electric motor at the steering wheel which will apply torque and vibration based on road feedback. That would allow to adjust feedback when necessary, imagine feeling every grain and have strong feedback in sport mode, and then have relaxing steering in comfort mode. I hope they won't make steer by wire without introducing feedback, that would be epic fail for a sportscar.

      Porsche abandoned manual steering racks long ago, and electric or even hydraulic steering take away from steering feel. I think steer by wire have a potential being better than other power steering options, at least theoretically. How will it be in practice who knows, I hope engineers know what they are doing. Everything is kinda artificial if you want to be philosophical about it, no solid it truly "solid" as atoms are held together by electromagnetic forces, and everything you feel is filtered through "computer" inside your head. So I'm fine with controls by wire if they feel good.@@dra911

    If you want to buy an electric car then do it because you simply want something different. Don't you dare give me any "green" nonsense. First of all Plants literally eat CO2 for food. Getting rid of all CO2 in the air means the death of every single living organism on Earth. Your EV car or truck will use and consume FAR greater amounts of fossil fuels than my Ford F150 ever will. Exponentially more. Just because your not filling up with gas at a gas station doesn't mean anything. My Truck has like 4 catalytic converters on it. Emission regulations have become VERY strict and most cars today are very clean. Your battery pack for your EV was first mined as raw Lithium and Cobalt by African slaves in the Communist Chinese mineral slave labor camps in W Africa. The area for hundreds of miles had to have all water sources dammed off because guess what? Lithium explodes upon contact with water. So now Africans who already struggle with disease, and lack of fresh water, NOW have all their streams and local water sources destroyed. Then the raw ore has to travel by ship that uses insane amounts of fuel to get it back to gigantic processing stations in China. Each Battery making plant uses so much energy they have to have their own COAL burning power plant just to power the battery making plant. Then all the toxic waste from separating all these extremely harmful cancer causing alkali metals are carried back to Africa, again by ship and are then dumped by the thousands of Tons into the local areas in Africa. Tens of thousands of tons of literal toxic waste just dumped off into local African villages. ALL of that is just to make the battery. We now have to figure out a way to charge hundreds of millions of EV cars every single day. Where exactly are we getting all this extra power from? We can't keep up with demand as it is and have to have our dirty coal burning plants working nonstop just to keep the lights on. ESPECIALLY in areas where idiots have tried to replace everything with low energy windmills. How are y'all doing Germany? Look I'm all for EV if its just to have something different. But this whole I'm going green thing? Nope, your actually causing 10x the amount of pollution.

Stuttgart can stop after creating a 992 Hybrid as that would then permit the 911 to annihilate a Tesla Plaid (and maybe even a Sapphire) but if you want a Porsche EV then just buy a Taycan. i've driven one, while there's no hiding the mass, Porsche's racing know-how means it works great.

      The hybrid 911 will be nowhere near the Plaid or Saphire in a drag race but it's faster around a track but that's already the case anyway

      @7ludi SUCK IT ELON...!!! (your Plaid is going down). we just had a field of 50 cars (both Import and Domestic) at World Cup Finals all of which easily beat the best EV's. so if you're not running into the 7, 6, and 5 second range in the 1/4 Mile (which neither the Plaid nor Sapphire can pull off) then laymen, rubes, and fanboys needn't bother showing up, as this is for PROS only.

    Almost all hybrids are flukes. Only those which charges on the go are worth looking in to. Plugin hybrids are 2 steps backwards. Nobody wants to both fill gas AND charge on long drives. Its sad that porsche has decided to take that path.

    well alll volkswagen as to do , is putt a 911 body on its car and sell it for 25 k euro and call it golf 911 .....and you end up with this car show in this video.
    it will be very interesting to see fiat 500 abarth electric outpace 911 electric on track and autobahn
