- For this episode I am back at one of my favourite places, Lanzante, taking a drive with owner, Dean Lanzante, in the most incredible Porsche TAG Turbo.
I get up close and personal with one of just eleven Porsche 911 Turbos fitted with a F1- raced engine from Nikki Lauda's McLaren in 1985!
Dean talks me through the history of the car and what inspired him to build such a special car!
Thanks to Lanzante for the drive:

This F1-powered 911 is crazy! What other F1-engined road cars should I find?? 👇
Remember the Renault Espace in the 90s?
F50, CARRERA GT, 300SLR, Bmw 02 Series, 33 Stradale, OX99-11
Ford supervan. Been a few iterations over the decades.
Bmw m12
Alfa Romeo 164 pro car? (Although its not a road car officially) from 20 feet away it looks like one :) Love your channel mighty cars great content and your infectious enthusiasm.
You need to give this to Chris Harris on the track. That’s the video we need.
Tiff Needell would also be a great commentator to review this car
There is movie both of them.
She’s doing just fine, thank you
@@jordanmascarenhas7974
Are you Joking!!
She is cute but Chris and Tiff an DRIVE
No give it to Clarkson
the colour of that porsche is just 🤯🔥
You know you've made it when youtube comments on your youtube video
It's dope. Does anyone know...is the Macadamia Metallic?
I was going to say that, but you got me 😀
you have good taste youtube
If RUclips drove a car I thought it would be Prius, guess not, good choice RUclips touché
The color and spec on this car is absolutely gorgeous.
It's a STUNNER isnt it. Perfect.
Beautiful car. I'm just sad we didn't get to see it being driven a bit harder. 🙂
ruclips.net/video/JjTSwenX4sw/видео.htmlsi=g-LzLdvZEyuahFSG
WHY COULDN'T WE GET JUST ONE PULL!! SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN INTO IT! I was dying to hear that thing at 9000 rpm...
A bit harder? Even half throttle would have been a lot harder.
@@boeing900 True 😂
That's because the sound and performance would have been utterly disappointing if he gave it the beans. If it was exciting they would have shown that!
That TAG Turbo is gorgeous! It's a tiger in wolf's clothing, love how it sounds! Dean and his team are geniuses!😊
a sheep in turtle
Love that Jodie just lets these people talk and absorbs every second of it. Another great video. What a very classy bloke Dean is.
No she doesn't she talks over the guy all the time she's actually quite annoying I hate people that go yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah I know what you're saying before you've even said it she's not even listening to him he's thinking what she's going to say next
@scottgregoire I don't agree. It is her job to think about what to ask him next to keep the conversation going on interesting. So it is only logical that she cannot listen as intense as we can.
Her job is not as easy as you might assume.
And to agree to the content someone delivers is a gesture of appreciation, not doing that is to be considered as being impolite by many people.
Mr. Blokie Pants is livin'!
I like her she knows her cars
The power up to 1500 revs was amazing.
😅. Obviously, a bag shat will break down over 36mph
They cut out all the useful revs from it too, so I wonder how the power curve looks like.
Was it? Damn I fell asleep!
Pump gas, 3bar at 9000rpm =? 600hp?
@@cameronmcdowell5899 Remember that it only has 1.5l and it is detuned. 600hp is a a bit high i guess. That is still 400hp per liter, which is still insane.
You can’t help but admire this car. The colour , the stance on its wheels, sounds the business, looks the business. Fabulous,
This is amazing. I remember hearing rumors back in the 90s about Ron Dennis daily-driving some sort of top secret, F1-engined 911. Something to the effect of "I saw him in Woking driving a white 911, with Ruf wheels, that sounded like it had something crazy under the hood". It sounded a bit far fetched, yet here we are!
The carbon treatment to the front boot is simply stunning …
You’ve done it again Jodie, my cheeks ache from 24 minutes of smiling
Hi Jodie
I’m constantly amazed how all these car guys you get to interview, sit beside etc are all so humble and seem so genuinely nice grounded gentlemen ,
Not seen many of your videos for the last month or so but will get round to catching up soon , have to say you’re looking really well
Regards Davy 🏴🇹🇭
Thats not just a 911 but a 930 or poss m491.
Well done that color is amazing. I would still be worried about a rebuild with such and exotic F1 engine.
All in all this is amazing. One has to admit that No other car has more companys making different iterations of the Porsche 911 930 from this to Ruf, Singer, Tuthill and about 50 others. A true testiment that the 911 is hands down the best Sports car ever produced.
A really interesting and eloquent man. I could listen to him all day👌
I’m glad it’s not just me. Comes across really well!
My God, this has to be one of the best looking 911’s ever
I truly enjoy the connection Jody makes on a cultural, configuration and technological level. With every contact. Without overworking the nerd quotient. Really well done. My only question is service, parts etc.
A company I’d never heard of doing the MOST incredible stuff (for decades too)… I am in love with this. Is it the ultimate 911?! I think it might well be 🤯 I love that you’re a a real petrol head, pausing a super interview to be completely distracted by the pop and crackle of an exhaust… because that’s literally what we were all thinking listening in! Would love to hear this let lose on track but presuming that’s a customer car so being handled with Kidd gloves (ha!)?
Very enjoyable video! The interior trim in that 911 is perfect period correct! I remember the 80's 1.5L V6 Turbo era. Thanks Jodie!
It's stunning inside and out!
You can’t help but admire this car.)
Seeing a vintage Porsche while hearing an F1 engine is plainly amazing 13:10
OMG!!! I remember the 4 cilinder 1.5 turbo in F1. More than 1.000 horse power in qualify configuration...
BMW M12 used by Brabham, Benneton and Arrows. This Porsche is using a V6
@@michael-james1970 You’re absolutely right. Ferrari too had the V6.
As did Renault
There's a gray 964 generation 911 with a lemans porsche 962 engine built by andial...they should make at least 5 more of those.
I've always wanted to see a porsche turbo cayenne v-8 stuffed in a 1980's porsche 928.
How did I miss this episode?!.... literally one of the most desirable and beautiful special Porsches I've ever heard of or seen. Amazing work by Lanzante!
What a unicorn. Just amazing to see engineering at its best to make an amazing machine. Long live the internal combustion engine
Exterior color and the seats in this thing are amazing.
This car was a rumour back in the 1980’s, Ron Dennis had a white one! I’ve seen this and the orange one at Goodwood, very special.
I Love these older Porsches , even more the very special once . Thanks again ,fantastic !
Glad you like them!
I worked in the Paddock back in 1984 when Paul Lanzante was running a car in the "Thunder Sports" Series. We were running a Lola T610....And we chatted many times..... Many years later while working for McLaren I saw those engines stored in a grotty little storage unit in the backstreets of Woking.... It made me sad to see them just sitting there.....(in racing cases covered in dust).... It seemed a terrible waste..... It is so good to see that Dean has brought them back to life.... And using them as the Racing Gods Intended..... Great video once again Miss Jodie..... Bless ya....... :-))) xxxxxx
Awesome story! Very happy the engines are being used again.
@@KiddinaSweetShop I must come to your pub and tell you many many more stories :-)) xxx
Beautiful, and the car looks stunning aswell.
I was a kid in the 80s and, yes, I want that one! I even have a TAG watch on my wrist probably because of this engine lol!
Without showing machine and sound??????maaan
Thanks again for sharing. I really appreciated Dean's insight on having to tune the engine to remain usable on the road as well fitting other ancillaries to make the car more comfortable.
Absolutely stunning!!
What a humble man, and what exotica he has to work with. Unbelievable
Wow wow what a special car to own 👍 excellent content again kid in a sweet shop 👍 what a excellent sounding car 👍🇦🇺
This interview has to be my favourite so far, both for the conversation and the car: stunning to look at and sounds glorious.
Fancy seeing 10R, Nick Mason's F1 appear in the background at the end. I know that car well, I took a fantastic photo of her at Goodwood, my friend was running the event and managed to get me on track on the starting line on my own. Such a crazy experience. I love that car. I have the photo above me in my office.
What Lanzante do is incredible with the all the race to road legal conversions on stuff like the F1 and P1 GTR/LM conversions. Didn't they also do the one Aston Martin Vulcan conversion? Never knew they did porches though. But their Clients have the type of money that no project is out of reach 😂😂🔥🔥
No, I think RML did that. They work to the same standard as Lanzante but do more for OEMs etc. as well.
A very interesting get together of two intelligent petrol heads.
What an absolutely beautiful car!
Absolutely beautiful piece of kit!!!
You are the perfect host. I can see your passion when you talk about the burbles of the exhaust and when you daydream about the Pagani at the intersection. The best part about this is when you try to correct yourself when you say tootling along and you might've thought he took it the wrong way and instead said "what joy". The nitty gritty details and care that's taken here as the host is just top notch. Really great work.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video! 😁
Interesting content. Keep up the good work on your channel. Regards, WR4K.
I've only just discovered your channel, when this video came across my feed. Putting Lauda's F1 engine in a Porsche 911 is wonderfully barmy. I love it! He's quite imaginative!
Jodie, you really are a proper gearhead! I'm subbing! 🍹😋👍
Brilliant way of making a deathtrap potentially deadlier 😆👍🏻
Lanzante and Garage Italia are my two fav aftermarket brands.
Cool episode Jodi, the Enthusiasm and Pasion you bring is amazing. 👍🏻
My Dad worked for Porsche Audi from the late 70's to the mid 90's. Literally a dream build. Thanks for this awesome video, well done ❤❤❤
No way! Legendary era.
So great!! and what a place !!
Get it being driven, that's what we all want to see 😁
Yeah man, open it up.
Amazing interview. Thank you for let us see this for us who are fan of cars but not rich.
Get Chris Harris in it ASAP
Sweet beans from the 80's Golden Era of F1. Clever lad.
thank you very much for finding this car and doing this amazing video, great car and amazing motor combo, love that color and interior. thanks Jodie amazing
Love this car & its link to the prototype & love what that company offers & for me its always been about the 90s cars & motorsport. Top video mate 😎👊👌👍✌
Almost mesmerising. Thanks for that, both of you.
What an utterly incredible car. Great episode!
Wow. Just WOW!!!!😊
I am greedy - any chance of seeing a flat-out drive in one of these?
Thank you for the video really enjoyed this 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Regardless of the engine, that car is gorgeous 🥰
Watching the F1 Turbo era was exciting. The short lived engines, with spectacular explosions, redefined the term “reliable”. But I guess when you make 1,500 HP from 91 cid, by throwing in a ton of boost, with a dash of nitro and a on/off throttle switch, all kinda things are gonna happen.
I like to see this Porsche move, sounds so 😮😎❤
It's a sleeper!😢😊❤
Congratulations On Your Build!🥳😍😎
I love Jodie's enthusiasm for spicy motors, she'd make the perfect wife !
Amazing video Jodie !- it’s a solution to a problem you never thought existed! Fantastic engineering … getting that all to work reliably is just brilliant - maybe they should give a helping hand to the Mercedes Project one team 😬-
maybe 😅
AMG ONE is not only engine, but also MGUs that come with it. That why they refer it as power unit, not engine
Love Jodies enthusiasm, it's like a ten year old seeing their first super car, reminds me of being a kid 🤦♂️ no pun intended
I always thought about that. The Ford DFV should find a home in a car, that would be awesome. I also thought about fitting a modern Ford Supercharged V8 with 750 HP in a Ford GT, that would be awesome, even better than the current Ford GT V6.
I hoped he was gonna floor it a bit :)
A Lamborghini sesto elemento street legal would probably break the internet and the world.my absolute favorite car.
shopping tour with F1 engine= NO GO ! We need a challenge, a real drive
Great video and what a fascinating company.
Their stand at the FOS 2022 was amazing.
Couldn't agree more!
Most wonderful video, many thanks Jodie ❤
You are so welcome! ☺️
Porsche turbo timeless😍💖
Loved the episode! Thanks for sharing!
Great Video!!!!!
The TAG Turbo 911 is possibly the most fascinating and desirable car in the world. Over and above a McLaren F1 !
Lovely car and backstory. Such a shame we didn’t see or hear it stretch its legs! Such a lovely colour too!
Did I just see two Maclaren F1s! wow!
that sound! when f1 was worth watching.
Thank you for the only review of the 930 Turbo from Lanzante!
Love this and this woman
The Stuff Dreams Are Made Of! That Lanzante Shop is an Epic Dream As Well!
It's amazing in there!
A Wilwood pedal set would dress up that pedal box. What an astounding accomplishment. Well done Lanzante!
Think I’d have been tempted to do the full Lauda livery. Lovely colour all the same and sounds amazing!
0:35 the look on the guy's face when he hears that she doesn't know what year 911 Porsche is the car they are in!🥲 Priceless!
An amazing car on the A272, perfect!
the idle sound got me!
this is making a twist of the sleeper car thingy
Jodie gets invited to so many super exclusive venues because she is very well respected by all in the motorsport community 💕💕💕
Nice drive along the A272 and through Midhurst.
I was almost distracted from looking at the lovely Jodie trying to recognise houses and stuff out the window!
The G body 911s are, IMHO the most beautiful 911s ever. I have a framed “cutaway” poster of the TAG/Porsche F1 engine that hung in my office in the 1980s that I think I’ll pull out of storage and hang in my den. I wonder what the price of that car is…
Imagine the honda engine from the same era in a nsx. 😮
NSX + F1 is a genuinely perfect match.
OK, I'm asking my boss for a rise first thing Monday
Hey buddy….floor it !!!!!
How about giving it some welly for once?
Public roads dude !!!
750hp Starting Power
-150hp Lowered compression for pump gas
-75hp Turbo boost lowered from 4 bar to 3 bar
-125hp Reworked cams for civilized idle and lower top end (from 11k to 9k)
=400hp
I don't really know what I'm talking about, but that's my guess.
And various things like AC sucking power. This thing probably isn’t that much faster than stock?
It’s a shame you never showed the engine. But a great video 👏👏👏
A beautiful thing for sure
Just INCREDIBLE 😍😍
My favorite 911 body style.
I didn't know they actually made one, EPIC.
