I’ve loved the Ruf cars since I first found them in Gran turismo. They have the most iconic wheel design of any car with Brabus following closely behind. What a woman Aloissa is.
Ruf CTR2 Sport baby, that car was so trick in GT2. You could throw race slicks on compete against nearly everything and dirt tires on it for Rally and smoke everything except the Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak car
I love this one Magnus. That girl has a unique style all her own. Even the old pictures of her show her in elegant clothes and sneakers. Her Mom and Dad are the two most stylish car company owners in the world and they are are all truly artists. The cars just happen to be their medium. Last but not least, the Yellow Bird is my favorite all time car so this episode really a great one. Thank you so much for making these!
I got a ride to Burbank airport once in the late 80's in a RUF Porsche. I can't remember the color, but it was not a yellow one. I've never been thrown back into my seat that violently before or since.
I got the chance to meet Mr. Ruf at the 50th Porsche Parade in Hershey, PA in the early 2000s. He brought the original Yellowbird and it was such a thrill to see the actual car. I told him I was a big fan of his company. He asked if I owned one and I said, "not yet unfortunately." He said "well, stay with us!" Very down to earth guy, and nice to see that was passed down to his daughter! Still working on owning one of his amazing cars...
Magnus - what a satisfying video! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to live vicariously through you, and experience a journey in such a desirable piece of automotive history and to learn more about Aloisa and her auto experiences. In addition, the sound quality of this video was next level in quality - bravo to the tech crew who achieved this!
They improve a great design. Porsche him self said improving is harder then inventing. Also Porsche did this before making the first Porsche. But only Porsche is PORSCHE
Great video, nice to meet Aloisa too. I remember the video from the Nordschliefe, am gonna watch that again now. What a glorious machine to drive. Press on Magnus, drive fast
I remember dreaming about these as a teenager and reading about them in Car and Driver as well as Road & Track magazines. Alois Ruf is a legend and it seems the apple didn’t fall far from the tree. Great video Magnus. One legend and the daughter of a legend continuing the legacy! Great to see!!!
I met Alois along with his wife at Rennsport in 2018. A very genuine, down to earth guy who was happy to talk about cars all day long like I was an old friend
I worked in a tyre shop in London in the 90s. I was told to pick up a customer car so we could change the tyres. I will never ever forget that day. A RUF 911 twin turbo. I still cannot believe a 19/20 year was handed the keys to what turned out to be a very very fast car. Raced a sports bike, we both got stopped by the police. I was very lucky not to loose my license or go to jail. Triple figures in a 30 zone. I got to the shop and said to my boss you better take that car back 😂 I still get scared thinking about it to this day 🙄
Love your inclusion of the historic films and photographs, the family history in general, as presented by Ms Ruff. I’m assuming the six speed transmission with higher reduction in the lower gears and 1:1 6th, with taller differential gearing, to reduce parasitic loses, and exploit torque capacity? Thanks for sharing.
It seems like she's really putting the Ruf brand back out there. I got recommended at least 3 videos with Aloisa Ruf in the past week. Great step to finding more clients, hope everything goes well.
Chose this in Gran Turismo so many times because it was the only Porsche in there at the time. Was a handful to control but was always a serious weapon! Love it!
Same. Hundreds of times are around the 'Ring in this. I wish they would bring it back, although GT7 has tons of great Porsches, like the RSR, 550, 356, etc. Especially cool in VR.
I have had the privilege of being in the passenger seat of one of these cars. It was lightly and tastefully modified, and made around 500hp and 475 ft lbs of torque at the wheels. I have never been in another street legal car that accelerates as hard as one of these...50km/hr to 250 took less than 8 seconds, and 250-300km/hr was less than 10 seconds more. My mechanic had just done a bunch of work to it for one of his customers, and asked if I had ever been in a turbo Porsche before. I told him I had never been in any at all, but had been in some pretty quick vehicles. He needed to take it for a road test, and invited me to ride with him. The car didn't have the stock CTR rims like the one in this video, it had 3 piece BBS wheels. It had a full roll cage, fiberglass and carbon seats with Schroth harnesses, and aftermarket carbon brakes. It was an unforgettable experience, and I am forever grateful I went (My mechanic would end up being murdered by a family member several years later). The only vehicle I have been in since that felt even close to the RUF, was a modified 2010 Shelby GT500 with an upgraded Kenne Bell supercharger, and a slew of weight reduction mods.
i just had to subscribe, bro! Great detail, history, videography and all. And its nice to see a gentleman show everyone how to interact with a lady. THat said, and me being a Rednex fan, they must be missing their lead singer. :))
Such a great episode...Love the passion of Aloisa! Carrying the family torch by someone who cares is key. Dream is to order a new RUF CT(something) before I die. Bravo Magnus and thank you.
Always loved this car! Since 1983 I've loved Porsche and Ruf! I came from Cuba a 10yr old kid and was blown away by the plethora of automobiles here in America and not just great American cars but Europeans and Japanese too plus a little Italian too! Cars galore and I never looked back!
Power wise, On speaking with the engineers, I was told power was much closer to 550bhp, when I question Alois, he smiled and said " we have big horses in Pfafenhausen".
What a lovely motor! This Porsche was one of my 2 favourite cars of this era, had a picture of a white convertible framed on my wall as a kid alongside an original Red Lamborghini Contach also. They were my two dream cars as a kid! To see this RUF, it looks just immense and what they've done with it and the Engine, is unbelievable! What a car! And what a family! 👍🏴🇬🇧
A really special car, but explored through the history of a family is a great approach. It brings colour and dimension to the average car review, which this is miles aware from.
Love the video! Ruf became my dream car after reading european car magazine ( The Beddor's CTR2's ). That was my first encounter with RUF! Hope to visit Pffafenhausen some day. 😊 Thanks Magnus!
I remember this car from the magazines along with the Hammer Mercedes, Ferraris GTO and Testerossa, and the Countach. I think I just enjoyed people driving these cars like they were meant to be back then.
Aloisa is a great passenger to have on canyon runs like this. A woman who likes sports cars and comes from a family who builds them is a rare find. I'd love to take her for a run in my supercharged S2000 😉 I remember the CTR Yellowbird in GT3 on PS2. Back then Polyphony did not have the rights to feature Porsche in their games so RUF was the next best thing.
Nice car! The external oil filler is not unique to RUF cars only. Porsche did this to the 72' 911. It's a one year only feature. RUF replicated what Porsche did.
This was one of the best cars in Gran Turismo 2. Hours of fun. So much learning about the brand since then. Jay Leno does a nice one with the old man from RUF.
I respect that she took the approach she has to learning the craft her family has honed. It's going to make her legacy formidable.
Yes, she is definitely going to carry the torch forward.
Bet she don’t know how to use a toilet

Sick car, a great story, and a beautiful owner from a legendary family. Thanks, Magnus and Aloisa.
It was a pleasure to be a part of this film - RUF OPP let’s go!!🔥🔥
Aloisa is so graceful and mesmerizing that Magnus did not interrupt her...LOL what a fantastic family history's and tell telling story.
Aloisa is something else man , well spoken and super knowledgeable. She might be my new celebrity crush 😂
Omg haha "Why did he keep it 2 wheel drive?" "For the fun of it 🙂"

As a Gran Turismo kid, Ruf is every bit as important as Porsche. Had no idea back when I was 5 how important this particular car was though. ❤️
I'm not sure if I'd agree that Ruf is EVERY bit as important as Porsche. I mean, the former based their designs off of the latter's creations.
They improve a great design. Porsche him self said improving is harder then inventing. Also Porsche did this before making the first Porsche. But only Porsche is PORSCHE
