- In 1987, the RUF CTR appeared, which at the time was described as the fastest production car in the world. With the speed of 339 kilometers per hour, the super sports car nicknamed "Yellowbird" outperformed competing vehicles from renowned manufacturers, including Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche. 30 years later, the successor to the cult car was presented: the CTR Anniversary. The report tells the story of the classic car and shows the creation of the small-series super sports car.

Great video. I had an opportunity to meet Herr Ruf when I was stationed in Germany with the Army in the late 80s. A fine gentleman who does excellent work.
It's my humble opinion that whatever the Germans may put their hands into it will always come out legendary. Awesome indeed! And WELT? Always delivers!

In the 80s, countless times I read that Road and Track top speed article featuring the RUF Yellowbird. Legendary. This new one appears to be spectacular. Can you imagine how wild it would be to drive that monster? Over 700 hp, 2700lbs, rear engine and rear drive, that is lovely.

When R&T used to be a great. As a kid, I had the top speed article with the F-40, ZR-1, Diablo, RUF, Alpina, etc. It was circa 1991. I went through that magazine everyday. The Alpina blew me away being a 4 door car. Now they're written by cringey people who drink too much Cappamochachino with almond milk from Starbucks in an ego friendly cup.

930 or G model the 964 was just a revised version. The original ctr made from a 1987 930 carrera 3.2.

TRUE that the handful of companies that produce 911 resto mods such as singer do deliver a beautiful product. but there's something very special about what roll's out of RUF. they definitely have a connection to the porsche that's not found anywhere else. just magnificent.

na lol RUF was the best decades ago. They arent even close anymore. Singer is literally in a different WORLD lmao. Like WILDY DIFFERENTLY. Gunther is also surpassing RUF. Ruf is just riding off the coat tails of what they did in the past. Singer makes EVERYTHING. Their own custom Carbon bucket seats, headlights, tail lights etc and all to a insane degree. Gunther gets close. Ruf is using recaro in a 1m car lmao st ill aamzing car but come on man. Singer has williamsons F1 helping with the engine. etc etc

Extremely enjoyable to watch this. I didn't realize the extent RUF goes to built these cars. These are pure driver's car, you get AC and heat, screw the radio, who needs that.
I have been a big fun of Porsche though have never driven one I think MR RUF changed my mind now I have to learn more about it,holy moly 🥰👌I love the team work and more so making it a family business ….wish the company a successful anniversary .

I was in Germany 🇩🇪 & Austria 🇦🇹 training and racing 🏁 as a Slalom C1 and Down River C1 Canoeist . At Augsburg the Site of the 1972 Olympics. I Waa there in 1979 for the Germany 🇩🇪 Championships.

I've known about the ruf since I was able to read hot rod magazines. But I had no idea that each one was individually handcrafted thank you for this video it's very interesting.

When you see the metal 'skin' placed over top the frame, you realize how the car is so light.. and why Porsche asked RUF to make their own branding for safety and legality.

Thank you thank you thank you!!!. Hands down the best extreme sports car in the world. Fly a company with tremendous family roots and extreme humility and philanthropy this is a role model for all other companies to try to aim for. I'll take mine in a white 993 turbo r , please.

The reason I asked about your location was I was wondering if possibly you had a channel called 312 supercars take a couple of minutes of video on your cars since I saw that video I've searched and searched and searched just to find some more pictures of those truly outstanding and I was under the impression I thought the gentleman mentioned Fabian I could do mistaken but either way I'm please send me your channel name again I would really really enjoyed taking a look at it I apologize if I came out of left field with asking your location I was just again so interested in just seeing some more of a that collection that was in that video. That top-speed test in 1987 didn’t happen at the Nurburgring, it happened at Volkswagen’s private test track.

Porsche has its own in house extreme sports divisions. RUF is from a bygone era. Example Weissach

Didn't know the history behind this car and that it was pronounced "houf!" So cool how Gran Turismo was essentially born out of this car being on the Nürburgring.

Ruf ❤ i remember time when purchased Gran Turismo 2 and see that there is Ruf... And in parallel had NFS Porsche 2000... 20 yrs later, still have them, still Porsche and Ruf in ❤ and on list to reach in life. Small steps into goals:)
A reminder that this was all possible in part of EA's 16 year exclusivity deal with Porsche (aside from a few companies that featured Porsche in games past 2000, like the older Forza Motorsport games pre-4)

Masterpieces like the RUF make it difficult to accept an EV future. These adrenaline factories are essential to the mental and physical well being of petrol heads especially of the male variety 😉😉
