$1,000,000 Porsche: NEW 911 GT3 R Revealed At Porsche's MEGA Birthday Party | Top Gear

- It’s Porsche’s 75th birthday. Which means you need two things: a birthday present and a big party. Thankfully, Porsche has done both.
The present? A $1,046,000 limited edition toy for Porsche’s very luckiest - and track-savvy - customers: the 911 GT3 R rennsport. Put simply, it’s the ‘logical’ successor to the GT2 RS-based 935 from a few years back, and uses the already potent 911 GT3 R as a base. Aside from the bonnet and the roof, every other body panel on the limited edition has been changed over a not-at-all-regular GT3 R.
Where was it revealed? Porsche’s birthday bash at Laguna Seca: Rennsport Reunion. As dos go, it was a good one. A four-day festival for everything Porsche. The place was dripping with so much extraordinary metal that even something like a 959 frankly became a bit average after our fourth day here. There were 908s, 917s, 910s, 956s, 962s, RSRs, an entire tent stuffed full of beautiful 356s, vintage 911s, modern 911s and, this being California, enough lowered and modified 911s to give Porsche’s compliance department a coronary. And don’t worry if you couldn’t make it, as Top Gear Magazine’s Tom Ford made the trip across the pond to bring you all the action.

i feel like porsche is cranking out a special edition every month now
$$$$$$, they’ll keep making them as long as people are willing to pay for them
While there are idiots with excess cash to milk, Porsche will exist.
@@samuelgarrod8327there are idiots but buying a Porsche isn't idiocy.
fr@@Pirustae
@@Pirustae Exactly, I'm glad they release all these to keep the collectors from taking allocations from actual drivers.
I really love 959
there's just something about it, its like the most understated supercar ever but its still a complete stand-out marvel
Canepa’s reworked models are perfection as well. Update it just enough for the modern era while keeping the original intent and emotion intact.
its still only the homoglations model for the group b that failed, porsche set 1983 on the wrong horse. in group b you need 1.8l turbo engines like the Peugeot 206 T16, Ford RS200 or Lancia Delta S4 and the same short wheelbase.
Porsche rarely do wrong with their cars. I love my 911, the car's all round ability is truly amazing! Best car I've owned, and not crazy flash like your other super cars.
The massive wing on the latest Porsche 911 GT3 R is an absolute showstopper! What sets it apart from all the other GT3 models is its classic design that pays homage to Porsche's racing heritage, while still delivering cutting-edge aerodynamics. It's a perfect blend of tradition and innovation.
I love the brand. I’ve dreamed of owning a Porsche since I was a young boy. I bought my 2017 911 4S in March of 2016 when it was first released in the US. I even bought my wife a Macan S a couple of years ago.
2:17 that is NOT a Macan, I am absolutely *FUMING!!!*
How could you Not just want to be at an Event like this , truly beyond awesome
Never thought Porsche would ever make a 1-mil car but fair enough with that GT3R rennsport
The Porsche 918 was around a $1 million with the appearance package.
@@ProStreetNaranjaastill not 1m and its called weissach not appearance
adjusted for inflation , itll be million
@@MonicaHolly143
@@MonicaHolly143 well that was actually around $1m with wet paint added on, but when I said appearance kit I simply mean the cost of the car, paint color, caliper color, etc is would be around that because of the upcharge and how much it was back then.
@@nihal89 every car will be a million dollar car in the future if u adjust it by inflation lol, u said released a million dollar car. So technically they didnt released a million dollar car
This 911 looks absolutely mad! 🤘🔥 it would be cool if they did a gt2 rs with this treatment. I love the mission x just wish it had a internal combustion engine.
On Sept 19, 1973 I was at the Edmonton Motor Speedway to watch Mark Donahue beat a bunch of world class drivers at the Can-Am race. Mark finished first, qualified first, and set fastest lap, a new track record. He beat the likes of George Follmer, Jackie Oliver, Jody Scheckter, David Hobbs all in a field of Porsche 917's and McLaren M8's, and the one UOP Shadow of Jodie Scheckter. It was a time of unbelievable skill and daring from these great drivers. Remember, back then there was NO emphasis on safety, just going ever faster. The cars looked unbelivably spindly and unsubstantial. You definitely would not want to be in a shunt in one. That car scared me when it fired up, loud, with the most amazing howl from it's flat 12 turbo engine.
Andreas Preuninger may be the coolest boss in the world. Every time he’s on camera I stop and listen 🤙
Christian von Koenigsegg is pretty cool, too.
Jonny smith from fifth gear is such a cameo and a vibe, havent seen that lad in ages
I am surprised I had to hunt for this comment!
He has a youtube channel: The Late Brake Show
This just looks like heaven to me. I hope that I will be able to attend the next one with my very own Porsche. Whatever or whenever that may be.
Been fortunate enough to tour with numerous car companies, and it's the Porsche people who are always the nicest and most engaging. Cheers to another successful 75 years.
Here to see who else noticed that he called a Cayenne, a Macan
5:23 actually (yes, I'm that guy) It didn't win every race it entered. The 917/30 finished 7th and 2nd in the first two rounds of the 1973 Can Am championship (both races were won by 917/10). From then on, yes, it won every race that year.
I was lucky enough to attend this event and I was absolutely in heaven!! So cool to see all of this
The interview with Mr Donohue was the highlight of this video. A genuine fellow with zero pretension 😎🎩♠️
Andy's been in front of the cameras over the last 2 years more than any other Porsche rep ever before. It seems like Porsche took a page out of Gordon Murray's book.
What page was that? Just curious

It's a good thing innit? GMA DNA is everything Porsche but for Rich People. 911 GT3 or 911 S/T or 911 R is like a millionaire version of GMA T50 with half the cylinders & 1/10th price. Last gen of people who actually love driving cars & not lifting them to the 26th floor for decoration.
I love the fact that there’s a cameo appearance from Smith & Sniff! Superb!
Porsche is the quintessential sporting vehicle. They also have an unbelievable and forward-thinking marketing team.
5:15 Everyone: The 2023 Red Bull is the most dominant race car of all time
That Porsche 917/30: 🖐🖐
My god wow!!! Porsche is the best!! What a way to celebrate!
That new GT3 RS is something special...
Absolute perfection on wheels! This Porsche is a masterpiece of speed and style. The design is a work of art, and that engine sound is pure music to my ears. Watching this video just fueled my Porsche obsession even more. Can't get enough of that adrenaline rush! 🏎
Bruh cinematography on this film is alone makes it so special. 😮
BEAUTIFUL... the filming, the edit, the story, the presenting
Good God the Track variant looks ABSOLUTELY MENTAL
Was lucky enough to be at rennsport and see this thing in action and man what a machine
2:05, The most impressive thing here is that he can distinguish the Macan and the Cayenne. I legit thought until now that porsche only has 1 SUV
It was wrong though😂
911 GT3 or 911 S/T or 911 R is like a millionaire version of GMA T50 with half the cylinders & 1/10th price.
Much appreciate the last gen of people who actually love driving cars & not lifting them to the 26th floor for decoration.
If life goes to plan, which it hardly does, I'll have a porshe before their 85th Anniversary. Definitely a Manual.
Expect the 911s look good compared to that outdated looking fan car
I own & drive a 911 in Michigan year-round! It needs to be driven.
I just love Porsche!
When I was a litte boy, my dad took me to Elkhart Lake, and I saw Mark Donohue run that absolute Kraken of a 917. My ears are still ringing.
That thing you didn’t know what it was is a Porsche tractor that was used for use in between coffee plants or working in a vineyard so you don’t damage the crops, they talked about it on The Late Brake Show
A wild Smith and Sniff sighting..
Cara o Felipe Massa no Top Gear??? A coisa mais aleatória da história automotiva
Porsche is the best car manufacturer, don’t @ me.
I @ you but to say you are right
@@CLSTRN911 I don't know how to feel about this
In the early 90’s as a young boy I lived on a Royal Air Force base in Berlin. Every second Sunday the Porsche club of Berlin came to the base and raced their Porsches around the airfield and then all drove by our house on the way home at the end of the day. 911’s 930 and 964, 968’s and even a few 993’s when they were brand new. I’ve been hooked ever since.
Super nice and beautiful 👍
Roock Racing GT2, probably the widest (and wildest) air cooled 911 I've ever seen on that event!
Very Interesting documentary I thoroughly enjoyed watching this, so well put together. Thank You
My personal favorite is the 962C number 17 that won Le Mans in '87
The most beautiful spec on a Porsche ever❤
Love how in this 13 minute video, the GT3 R is visible for about 13 seconds.
Producer: 'Nice shot. Only thing... could we put something in the way of it?'
Wow. Was ein Geschoss. Mega was da entstanden ist!
Porsche Getting Like Apple , “ Ahhh just keep cranking things out people will buy it regardless
What makes Porsche special? I think because they have the ability to make a 13 minute commercial and we watch every single second of it and ask for more
Practical in all aspects these 911's
By Far The BEST TG Presenter!!
This has to be a bot...
Yay! The Jagermeister Cayenne!
The editing in this video must have been hell
INCREDIBLE SUPERB TOP
All eyes on the Caymans for me 😳
Owning a porsche is my dream, maybe one day i will be able to buy a 911 carrera even an old one
Is it just me, I’m so curious why the Porsche 918 was not even shown in this clip?! Although it was mentioned just one due to Mission X development… It’s one of the holy trinity of the modern era HyperCar/SuperCar world… anybody else?🤔
Can't wait until it arrives.
it looks like the 934.5, but it's too expensive for me, i'll just take a 1st gen boxter
wonder if i’ll see any of these in person at work
Just been into my local Porsche dealership to register interest in the upcoming GT3 S/T RS r Heritage Edition
You've gotta love Johnny Smith and his notition book!
No 924/944/928 time? Well that will at least keep the prices lower on those great Porsches
Best handling Porsches from that era. Please keep them a secret😅
Porsche is simply the best❤❤❤
i have been waiting for this video, thanks top gear, love your videos
Hello thank you.i love Porsche I love Germany.
Missed the RWB's
I wish Rinspeed was recognized by Porsche.
Comical subtitles!!!
As a Porscher, what I like the best is to be in control and feel the car, the road, and have to take responsibility.
I never let my car drive me. I am the driver, sometimes the pilot. And thus totally in control. Porsche offers cars that make you in control.
James dean Porsche 550 Spyder.👍
So GT3 R RS? lmao
By the way, DDE was there
Jonny! It's a 5th Gear Reunion.
This video is 13 minutes long and has only a minute focused on the 911 gt3 r
Phenomenal video!
So, it's mean GT2RS will never come for 992 generation?
Not so easy to differ between a Macan and Cayenne, (-; but a presenter should.
Mission X > GT3
What the frick are you smoking
@@thusmarshal8815 The same thing that Porsche is. Clearly they believe it's the future and so do I. Quicker and more efficient, Better than the same ole tired design and inefficiency of the GT3.

Not flat out? OK, I'll stick to 9.5 10ths 👍

The type 64 was the FIRST CAR Porsche built! Not some shitty 356. 911 rules the world!

2:18 That's actually a Gray Cayenne not a Gray Macan.
If you’re talking about the colour, it’s actually called grey.
Actually, both Gray and Grey are correct terms. Gray is more commonly used in the US wihile Grey is usually used in the UK @@Knofriswr0

926? 944? Etc?
Please make a road version of this and call it a gt2 rs, with the turbo engine..
So Fifth gear is now Top Gear?
At 2.17 it is grey cayenne🙄
Way to show us the Mission X without actually showing us the car.
The 959 is so clean
Ordered one
Man people put a lot of work on Volkswagen beetles body kits
Ocayman we get it there's a ton of them
