This needed to be a series, directed by Snyder, and written by someone else. Anyone else. Just get Snyder away from the scripts for the love of god. The setting is good enough for it to have been a hit in that format.
Sorry but this movie wasn't it
Its typical ZS. Lots of great visuals, but a crap story.
If this was a Netflix film, R rating should've been fine. A director needs leg room for people to enjoy their true work.
I thought it was awesome all around, especially when u watch both parts back to back. But i can agree with everyone when they say we need the director’s cuts! I can’t wait!

Sorry it was boring, I would rather watch Fallout TV show once again, picture and everything was great, but I did not care at ALL. It had everything I would have liked stolen from so many IPs, but ended being just a salad.
One of the writers on Rebel moon told a reporter that Jimmy has a lot more scenes in the other cuts to make sure Kora had more runtime in the 2hr frame. Cant qait to see more from him
My favorite Zack Snyder movie is Man of Steel, JL, and Army of the Dead

This movie was rough to get through. Not good at all.
My favorite character was the Asian lady with the lava blades but they killed her off too quickly and I didn't like the way she was killed

Here's my take on Zack Snyder, I liked scenes from 300 and Watchmen, I love everything about Man of Steel other than how they wrote Jonathan Kent, I liked many scenes in BvS, liked some scenes in the Snyder Cut but I would have written it differently.
I think Zack really needs to reevaluate things and seek some assistance from other experienced film makers, maybe ask someone like Christopher Nolan for some advice and direction.

We gotta remember these 2 movies are the cut versions, zack has yet to release the r rated versions he wants to release as part of his deal with netflix , these versions are pg13 his directors cuts are going to be hard R rated and have more content in general to flesh out the stories

If Snyder couldn't tell a cohesive story in a 4 hour movie, spliced in two, then no Director's cut can truly make it any better.
I just got done watching it and i very much loved and enjoyed it. Now, i can't sing its praises from a mountain top, due to Parts One and Two being only PG13 cuts. Already giving me the idea of what parts to expect have more context to them, but just didn't get to be in these cuts. I knew that a LOT of people and many youtubers i follow are voicing their displeasure of the film, due to how this approach to zacks films would turn out. Like Drinker, Nerdrotic, Az and many more. So Part One for me is a 7/10 and Part 2 is a strong 8/10. I too can't wait to see the extended cuts of his films as well. Only then will i and many others will sing its praises and criticisms as well. Yes, Jimmy or rather James the robot was one of the best parts of The Scargiver.

I enjoy the movie quite a lot. The story was straightforward but as you said there is stuff missing from it for sure. The edge isn't there and the story not as flush as it should be.
Rebel Moon seems to be a sci-fi steampunk universe.

The movie would be so much better if it didn’t have so many slow motion shots of them farming 😂 . But I will say the movie is a little better than the first
Rebel moon has been a big let down for me as a fan of his previous work. His new cinematography style is with over use of Depth of field is hard to look at. And his exposition scenes are a drag.
Just start the movie half way through and it is not bad as it is mostly an action film at that point with very little story as story was the movies weakness.
Zack is slipping. I hope the uncut version's will be better, but when are they scheduled to come out? HA-DOO-KEN

I don't know why they call it Star Wars. Watching Rebel Moon pt. 1 I felt like it would have better if Snyder made it one of 2 ways. 1.His very own space opera universe or 2. Warhammer 40k. Like Magnus says. There are no Light sabers, different ships, different droids, different music. There is none to very little connection to existing Star Wars lore.

Part 2 was great. It blew away the first one.
I actually thoroughly enjoyed Part 2. I mean, I am still waiting for the extended director's cut, because I know these PG-13 versions are not what was intended, and that parts of both Part 1 and 2 feel rushed and a bit clunky. Part 1 and 2 are obviously supposed to be seen as one story or one film, so maybe it would have worked better as a series. Eitherway, #RebelMoon was billed as an epic, so it should be viewed as such. I made that mistake with Part 1, as I felt a bit disappointed. Can't wait to watch Part 2 again, and bring on the rest of the Rebel Moon trilogy!

I love Zack Snyder as a director. He tells an amazing story, but this Rebel Moon series for someone reason just doesn't sit with me. I can't seem to focus on the story.
I did not hear about the sequel drop this week and I have ZERO plans to watch it. REBEL was rushed and didn't make any sense. Really needed character development.

From a design aspect the whole motherworld is less empire from star wars and more empire of man from warhammer 40k. I mean the whole roman inspired naming of ranks and names as well as the armor is much more warhammer than star wars. The action sequences are once again some of the best there is, but goddamn if the writing isn’t subpar as hell. These characters are so cool on paper, but they give you absolutely nothing in these movies. Aside from Kora who gets a lot of time invested into her character they’re just blank slates. Giving only one flashback for everyone else is not enough to make us care. You get a little bit of a sense of their personality but there’s not many scenes that builds their camaraderie and why they suddenly like each other that much. Gunnar is literally just a farmer and that’s all you get from his character really. such wasted potential. As much as zack’s haters would like you to believe that it’s always like that in all his movies it’s not. Man of steel had a real character arc for superman, a good motivation and characterization for general zod and also for the others. Same goes for batman v superman. Now obviously these characters were known before so that works to his benefit when the writing isn’t that great, but it feels like for rebel moon he just picked out some general characteristics and personality types and didn’t care to explore any of them. Whoever edits his movies needs to be fired and if he does it himself he should really let someone else do it cause it’s a repeating problem ever since bvs. I mean we saw in justice league that most of the scenes that were cut were the ones that actually gave the several characters clear arcs and development so we actually care what happens.
There's no mysticism like star wars but I did enjoy the movie it was more 7 samurai than star wars they didn't explain what brought the bad guy back to life I kinda understood but there was mysticism with that and the princess that wasn't elaborated upon
Dawn of the dead, was amazing. After that I feel he got trigger happy with slow-mo too much for his own good
Lady Deathstrike was a disappointment. She couldn't take down 4 maybe 5 folks but can take down a giant Spider and supposed to be a feared assassin.

I like the majority of Zack Snyder's films... But this is honestly worse than Rebel Moon part 1.... If I was to rank both Rebel Moon films amongst all of Snyder's other movies...I would place them just below Sucker Punch.
