as trucker, I can say that the newer fleet trucks such as the International Pro-Star and Freightliner Cascadia (offered by Tamiya), sound a lot more like the Eurotrucks regarding the engine. The deeper diesel tone is more true to the classic trucks. Also, the road horn (air horn) is a lot higher pitched on many of the newer fleet trucks. As another commenter said, Tamiya really needs to combine the audio sets and let the modeler select what they want.
Hello my Name Matthew from Germany. Your Videos are so beautyfull. You teach me to see the deffrence on mfc 01 and mfc 03. I buy on next Saturday an nice blue King Hauler with Semi Trailer. The Colour ist metallic blue. Mfc 01 inside Light with Truck and Trailer. The working Trailer Feeds. I love it so much . Thx for this that you help xoung Truckers. I'm 42 Years Old and i hope i can send you a Video from my Blue Dream.
I am in the process of installing a MFC on my truck, have you ever tried adding more LED's to the existing circuits, like in series? Just wondering how many would be able to add without overloading it?
@@TeamKaosNZ I have not added more to the system. I use light slots that are not being used to do what I need. Example: cab lights for interior lights. I don't see why you couldn't add to them but I don't know for sure. Check with Bob at Hobby Concepts he would know for sure.
Hi Bob. I’m watching your videos, as I’m in the process of building a Tamiya Scania 770s. You mentioned that the 03 is a European v8 sound, but it’s not it’s recorded from a l6 diesel, which in fact is a straight 6 cylinder diesel engine. And that is my problem with the 03, why do I want a 770 v8 that sounds like a straight 6. Could it be that the 01 is meant to sound like a v8,as I know Americans love their v8s. Don’t get me wrong I’m loving your content, just a little quibble. 👍🏻
I use the Grand Hauler mounting plate and then front mount the speaker. hobbyconcepts.net/products/mfc-mounting-deck-and-hardware?_pos=1&_sid=ea7ac3a9a&_ss=r
Hey bob. Great video! I was wondering if you could maybe build a knight hauler with a MFC unit installed? I was thinking about buying one and I wanted to see it being put together first so I know what I’m getting myself into.
Great video for everyone especially the newer hobbiest to the scene. Two awesome trucks there too. I bet if you have grand kids they definitely love going to grandpa's house.
Bob im interested in this: The Tamiya 1/14 Volvo FH12 Globetrotter 420 Semi Kit but kit says requires a esc is the mfc03 that esc that i would need as a esc? or do i need a separate esc thanks
hi bob. like your videos, theres some great ideas and a lot of help. i was hopping you mite be able to help me with a fault with one of my mfc 03's. i bought this one in october for my scania t-cab with a rc4wd crane on it. it's been working fine up till 2 days ago when it started cutting out on me. it will run fine for a while and then just stop and the power light will start flashing and nothing will work, no sound or movement. if you turn the power off and back on again it would work fine for a few minites and then cut off again. any ideas of what the problem is? this only started happening when i started pulling two trailers behind it, so was woundering if it was too much for the mfc to handle. the t-cab ways about the same as the mercedes 4151 you built. (thanks for sharing the idea of ware to put the mfc) thank james
Generally that means a low battery. Try that first. Another cause would be digital servos. If you plug 2 digital servos into an MFC that will almost always cause it.
If I have installed a mfc -03 into my knight Hauler can I just swap the brains out for a mfc-01 brains or does all the wiring have to come out? I like the 01 sound better
Great explaination, Bob. I wish the 01 will get the option of switching the indicators intentional, too some day. Especially for shunting you don't needt hem.
Good informative video on both. I have both I will say one thing I dont like about the 03 is when youre going forwarding you literally have to pull back on because if you just simply let go it will still keep going forward until it hits something. I'm not sure how old the 01 is however I feel it grossly in need of an update especially for how much it costs. What they could do is combine them into 1 and system and give it a Beier treatment a simple program where you can change things. At the very least update 01 to be similar to the 03 like the non auto start, different horn options etc
On the 03 If you do the indicators right they stay on until you move the stick to turn There is also main (high) beam on the stick just before the horn and you missed the walking upto the truck, opening the door
When you listen to a caterpillar sound on a Beier Unit you hear an actual Cat, The Detroit Diesel was recorded from an actual Detroit Diesel 671 engine
I'd consider a MFC-03 with a MFC-01 sound set. But Tamiya isn't great at updating electronics - hence why NOTHING from them is Lipo Compatible. I really think I'm going to like the Beier USM RC-2.... As soon as we get it figured out!! 😉
What I found is some of the MAN trucks can get away with the MFC 01 or 03 Euro style. As the real one is PACAR group. Meaning depending what country it's in it can have a Euro Engine or a US engine. Like someone mentioned about the Freightliner Cascadia as it's part of Mercedes group. Don't know so much about KW' Mack 'Western Star ECT or any other Euro trucks though.
i bought a mfc-03 when i got my Scania 620. i was not happy with the sound.i then goot a beier when i bought a grand hauler.i admit i was lost with the programmeing BUT the sounds are tremendous, its sounds very real. When i hear the tamiya now i hate it. its just a noise nothing more really

Excellent video! Well demonstrated, and clearly explained! 😊👍👍
Some how Bob you always seem to make videos on the topics I have been wondering about. Another great video Bob, keep it up!!

Thanks for watching! Have fun building!!
Thx it was RTR Version. Do you have a Facebook Account?
Nice to your video my friend
Another great video. I run both versions and I really like the demo mode on the 03 version. It's cool when a truck is on display.

Another great video Bob, great explanation and sound samples.
Mind reader!! I was thinking of this comparison just yesterday!!
Welcome back Bob .
It would be awesome if you could explore some compatible aftermarket BEC's as it's their weakness

Where do you mount the Mfc-01 on the king hauler

Yeah he needs to build a knight hauler it’s honestly the best looking tamiya truck out of every truck on the fleet.
Boa noite bob, tem como gravar outro som no modulo mfc 01?
Great video for everyone especially the newer hobbiest to the scene. Two awesome trucks there too. I bet if you have grand kids they definitely love going to grandpa's house.
What radio controllers are you using for these trucks.

The MFC-03 has the ESC built in so no separate ESC would be required.

can I use a flysky fs-i6x?
Sure can.
Can you shut down the mfc 01 when it’s turned on like the 03?
Yes, you can.
For Aussies, there's a mixture of both Euro and US trucks.
Euro/ American…… really the only scale facts needed. Thanks as always!
If I have installed a mfc -03 into my knight Hauler can I just swap the brains out for a mfc-01 brains or does all the wiring have to come out? I like the 01 sound better
Yes you can. All wiring strings, control panel and speaker are the same.
Mfc01 sound turbo logic I like it
. Mfc03 engine sound smooth and advanced horn optional. If can combination turbo sound mfc01 apply to mfc 03
Great explaination, Bob. I wish the 01 will get the option of switching the indicators intentional, too some day. Especially for shunting you don't needt hem.
another great vid bob :)
Thought you might cover what is supplied with them. The MFC-03 comes with some parts for USA trucks mouting the control panel from memory.
Did you know the mfc03 has the sound of a driver getting into the cab starting the truck and getting out the van when shutting down the truck
Yes, it is in a few of my videos.
Awesome unboxing video my rc friend, great job and cool trucks 😃💪😀

MFC 01 For me in a MAN 6x2 !!
Awesome admiration video!!! 👏👍
Very good!!! 😍😍
On the 03
If you do the indicators right they stay on until you move the stick to turn
There is also main (high) beam on the stick just before the horn
and you missed the walking upto the truck, opening the door
How about a comparison mfc01/3 vs Beier USM RRC II and SFR-1
Awesome videos 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
