I like animals so I choose not to make them suffer. It's so easy.
I don’t even like animals that much... I don’t like the woman down the street either... but you know what? I wouldn’t eat either bc they’re both sentient beings.

@V A N E I love plants. I also love animals but A plant lacks a central nervous system, pain receptors and a brain which means that anatomically they don’t have the ability to feel pain. the primary reason human and non-human animals feel pain is to alert us that we are in danger or are being hurt and that we need to escape the situation that we are in, a plant cannot move and thus any pain would be inescapable, making life torturous for any plant. Which begs the question, why would plants ever evolve such a horribly debilitating and destructive characteristic, as it goes against the fundamental purpose of evolution? A venus fly trap shuts itself on to a fly, not because it is consciously aware that a fly has landed onto it, but because it reacts to the pressure stimuli caused when the fly lands onto it. This is why the venus flytrap will close around anything that triggers this response, including cigarettes butts. A cow on the other hand, won’t eat cigarette butts just because someone puts them in their mouth because a cow consciously responds. I’m sure you don’t believe that dropping a cauliflower into boiling water and boiling chickens alive (something that often happens in the chicken slaughtering process) is the same thing. Nobody thinks that slicing the neck of a cow is similar to cutting the stems off a broccoli, or castrating a pig is similar to peeling a potato.
Let’s say plants do feel pain and suffer though.. it takes up to 16 kilograms of plants to create 1 kilogram of animal flesh, meaning vastly more plants are killed in the production of animal products than they are vegan products. On top of this it’s important to note that up to 91% of Amazon rainforest destruction is due to animal agriculture, meaning that millions of trees have been and continue to be destroyed because of our consumption of animal products.
That’s my thoughts on plants 🌱 what about you ?
If you eat twice as much meat, you'll live half as long, so it balances out
And if you consume fish and eggs you'll live longer than both vegan and red-meat carnivore. The Mediterranean diet is by far superior, those people don't need any fake supplements like vegans.

All I have to say to whoever thought it was a good meme: Have fun with your high cholesterol levels there buddy, have fun taking your 2 hour nap and unzipping your pants after thanksgiving Turkey because the bloat was so bad. I’ll just be over here enjoying myself going for a walk, no gas, no pain, no bloat because I chose to eat food that digested well. Oh! yup, there has been a noticeable increase in kosher, halal and vegan food labeling, however, this does not mean that there has been an increase in actual followers.

It is indeed awful, but do not hate the sinner, hate the sin. They are just born into this way of thinking, just like how I (and most vegans) were also born into carnism, but I never intentionally wanted to hurt/murder animals. Ignorance is difficult, but when more and more people realise what carnism is really doing they will change and so will these cowboys some day see what they are truly doing.

It's not that what's triggering, people. It's that these guys stop trucks carrying animals to slaughterhouses/dairies when all the drivers are doing is something that is legal right now.
If they can convince people verbally to not eat meat, fine. But physically stopping someone from doing something that is legal is not acceptable.

I also used to ride horses as a kid before going vegan as an adult. For me, watching Earthlings was key to my decision to go vegan.
@@silenceisviolencegovegan4298 well, I actually started college for Equine Science as my major and went to a horse breeding internship and the death and abuse I witnessed on that farm turned me off from riding and the horse industry completely, and that was before I even went vegan. But a friend of mine just had me on her podcast Under The Vegfluence if you want to follow it, there will be an episode of me going in depth about this in the upcoming weeks 😊

My sister had to cut cancerous growths out of chickens and ducks, and even sold hundreds of chickens that had died after their antibiotics injections. My young life on a farm. Ps I don't think cutting out cancerous growths made the chickens great food for YOUR family

That heartbreaking clip of the calf being abused came a little unexpectedly and sent shivers down my spine. It's so sad how humans have this sense of entitlement toward animals and how casually animals are exploited in many different ways. How ironic is it that you wanna call vegans extremists.

I dated a man who enjoyed the cowboy life. I wasn’t vegan then (almost 2 years now) but I was vegetarian. We went to a rodeo and went to the calf roping event. I remember the first person missing the calf with her rope and we all said ahhhh...including me. Then the next time she did rope the calf and when I saw what happened I was quite vocal about my disdain. I left the arena and never returned. A couple of months later, I was in Seville, Spain and several people wanted to go to the bullfight. They invited me to go, but I declined. If I couldn’t take a baby being roped, I certainly couldn’t handle a bull being taunted and then killed. I warned them but they went anyway. When they returned a couple of hours later, they admitted they regretted going.
Many years ago, way before I went vegan, when my family was visiting Spain, my mother and brother attended a bullfight while I defiantly stayed in the hotel room, reading a book. When they returned, I asked them how it was, and they both said it was "terrible," and I said, "What did you expect it would be?" They couldn't answer. I mean, it's animal torture, plain and simple.

I know a lot of people that work exploiting animals for the meat industry, and a year ago that was normal to me, during lockdown I started looking for different information about it, and became vegan. To be honest I almost cried looking at the rodeo footage you’ve shared...that’s how much one can change when you start to empathize with other animals.

A really great approach to turning someone vegan, or at least getting them to cut down on meat, is to invite them to dinner. Instead of denigrating a cowboy, invite him to an extra special vegan meal and I bet you could talk him into meatless Monday or tofu Tuesday ... as long as he doesn't feel his manhood is being challenged, that is! I served vegan moussaka with tofu pine nut cream to a few diehards and then they asked for the recipe! We had a beyond vs impossible burger night on the BBQ and some have taken to one or the other. And best of all, since these are neighbors and friends, they invite me in return and search for vegan recipes to serve me! Works twice as good with half the effort!

Lyman, a cowboy/rancher who turned Vegan. When we were struggling to stay vegan years and years ago, that's the book that solidified our resolve. Give it a shot, it's available on Amazon I think.

I was raised in that culture, but even as a child, I was seeing the calves get whipped around at the end of a rope at the rodeo and horses tormented with spurs so they would buck, and knew better than to think this was okay. The reason that many rodeos have "roughstock" animals provided by a company is because even those who exploit their own animals, know this activity is injurious to them.

@@silenceisviolencegovegan4298 I stopped by degrees. By age 9 I asked to stop attending the calf roping, by teens, stopped going to rodeos at all, and my mother agreed. I had a childhood friend who happened to be a steer. A couple of family members still love watching bull riding events on TV and they try to tell themselves (and me) that it's fun for the bulls.
Wasn’t there also a point in time when they said we won’t be able to mind the cotton fields because we don’t have slaves in order to do that but yet cotton seems to be doing just fine even today and that’s without the use of slavery

I live in a ranching community in Northern Nevada and it is my wish to bring awareness to how cruel rodeos are. Unfortunately the people who are from this area are so stuck in their ways - rodeos and bbq's. There is only one family down the street from me who are vegetarian, I had a pescatarian boss several years ago, and recently met a Trader Joe's employee who is vegan and lives in Reno. So I am the only vegan that I know of in the Carson Valley. I have been told to go back to California because I would "fit in better ". I would love to meet other vegans and do some outreach in this area to bring awareness of animal cruelty.
Whenever some anti vegan posts a picture of meat in a comments section like Facebook, I always pretend to agree with them and post a pics of animals suffering in a slaughterhouse or a dog market and tag them in it. Either they disagree with it exposing their hypocrisy or they make themselves look like they support it which isn't acceptable to the majority of people.

Don't know if anyone wrote this already but... these horses are forced to buck. By that I mean they are fitted with a flank girth that is tightened even more just before release. Same with a bull. I remember when people would use an electrical prod on them, to excite and anger them for a more boisterous 'performance'. I believe that has been stopped but I am not in that circle any more so I don't know. Not everyone did that of course, but...
The origin of rodeos comes from when ranch hands would get together to practice and show off skills needed for ranching, one of those being 'breaking' horses.
As someone who has worked with, trained and have done behavioural reconditioning, Gentle training has been known for, and practiced for decades. I did it as well, thinking I was helping horses. With the behaviour changing, it was a matter of regaining trust of horse and re training the owners or riders behaviours. Again, I thought I was doing good for the horses, but I look now at it as betraying those horses. I taught them to trust just make it easier for others to exploit them. The horses used to rope and to turn barrels and so on, are also exploited. A roping horse must not just be fast, responsive and calm, but know to keep the rope tight once the targeted animal is roped.
PS we really don't need anymore shite graphic designers or commercial artists. Perhaps they could use skill share to learn another trade.

After having an argument with my family about veganism, I just go to Ed's channel, watch a video and scroll through the comments. I truly feel like no one supports me even though I've been vegan since I was 14 so youtube commentators are pretty much my only form of connection with people who have similar views like me. It may sound weird, like it seems like I need to be with other vegans in a very cult like behavior some might say but when everyone around you is mocking you for simply not wanting to harm animals, you just need someone to talk to... Damn that probably sounds depressing as hell lol
