- Terrence Howard's appearance on Joe Rogan caused quite a stir. Most people could tell immediately that he's a total lunatic spewing hot gibberish, but a shocking number of people were duped into thinking he's a genius. Joe wanted to get to the bottom of it all, so he decided to bring Terry back with someone more educated to do some fact checking. Disappointingly, he chose Eric Weinstein to do this, a pseudo-intellectual fraud who was only there to flex his intellect while simultaneously pretending Terry is on to something in order to scoop up some Terry fans for himself. While not exactly what needed to happen, it did result in some hilarious moments, so let's poke through for some highlights.

I have a question to you, if you sat next to terrence hovard, could you refute and debunk him live like you do in the video? or would it be more difficult
Well. Normally in person is always difficult to debunk someone, unless you already know the topic beforehand, or have personal or deep knowledge of the topic in question.
However in this case? It wouldn't be difficult for Dave, since most of the things terrence does is word salad and misuse of science.
For those who aren't familiar with it though, or because they are vulnerable, it can be challenging, but then again, anything can be challenging when caught by surprise or when vulnerable (depression, mental disorders, high neurodivergence, stress, loss of loved ones, medication, exhaustion, etc).
The real challenge i expect it to be for anyone in here with Terrence though, would be the sheer exhaustion from all the nonsense one has to hear, to the point where one just gives up and moves from the discussion because you just completely lose faith in humanity at this point. Not because of Terrence per say, but because of how easy it is for people to fall for a charlatan's allure, and you can't seem to just bring the person to leave the abyss of ignorance and deceit. And sadly in this case, Terrence is just another victim of such deceit, probably because something must have happened that he broke... we aren't made of stone, afterall... more like a jelly egg.
Howard needs an intervention, and not another public forum. It will be a long road to recovery for him. But he will double down on all public interactions.
It could be more difficult if he ran away or tried to hit me.

Musician here: what he says about 'the key of E is 43Hz' is absolutely nonsensical, the key of E, just played in 1 octave, contains contains 7 DIFFERENT frequencies. Not to mention the essentially infinite amount of octaves and therefore frequencies. He doesnt even know what a 'key' is in music, and i dont get the idea he even knows what Hz means in relation to a produced pitch. I teach primary school kids who know more about frequency and musical keys than this.
I was literally shouting that at the screen when I saw it! The guy is batshit!
Thank you !!
The frequency of the E above middle C is about 329.628 Hz. The closest "E" to 43Hz is 1/8 of that original value; about 41.207 Hz. What am I supposed to think when Terry talks about 43 Hz? How does that relate to the visible spectrum of light which involves frequencies greater than 10^14 (100 trillion) Hz? Only frequencies near the visible spectrum are used in spectrometry.
I am not sure his supporters understand how made up some of this stuff turns out to be. Assuming that Terrence were correct when a conventional scientist says that he does not understand how Terrence is using the terms tone and frequency, that is not a failure on that scientist's part. His terms do not make sense using conventional definitions. And that is as kind as I can be.
What he said isn't at all related to whole keys and the notes in that key, making your statement irrelevant.
He claimed that "The note E is 43Hz", but with E1 at 41.2Hz and F1 at 43.65Hz, Terrence's 43Hz is either a very sharp E, and sounds spine chillingly awful, or a slightly flat F (not as offensive). It's most certainly not an E, and I bet he doesn't even know there are more than one E and at octaves apart which is related to keys, but there are 12 notes in an octave 7 whole notes and 5 sharps or flats; a going up or down the scale thing, down written as flat (b), and up as sharp (#), so a C# can also be expressed as Db, Gb as D#.
For reference: The lowest musical note is C0 at 16.35Hz, which is lower than the average hearing range of 20Hz to 20,000Hz, but if you can't hear it, you will feel it. E0 is at 20.6Hz. Not sure exactly where "The Brown Note" is, but avoid it at all cost!!!

Eric saying Terrance has little to offer Mathematics but is more likely to contribute to Engineering is such backhanded insult to engineers. I had no opinion of him before this. Now I've got one.
Yeah, that line was unforgivable. It's one thing to try and satiate one's ego and try not to be rude with a bit of flattery, but that's just offensive to anyone who's put in the work to actually gain some competence in the field.
yeah i agree. like engineers do not know math and use it everyday. in fact engineers do real practical math everyday and do not waste time in the theoretical bullshit unified theories because they are the one building shit that works. like the computer.
@@swollencolon1127 Yep, engineering is the practical application of math and physics. Everything they’re saying is literally recorded and stored on technology that was designed and built by engineers.
Insult to engineers? The statement is factual, Terrence has a 0% chance of contributing to math, so even a 0,000000001% chance of contributing to engineering is infinitely higher.

I'm not familiar with Weinstein's background and I haven't researched if he's actually a charlatan or not. However, I don't think he was forgiving necessarily because he was trying to gain Terry fans. My guess is that he discussed with Joe prior to the podcast to make a plan to tackle Terrence without insulting him because that will further develop his fanbase and their skewed perception that everyone is out to get Terry.

A hidden gem of idiocy was in one of his more obscure remarks about “Marie von Franz” and her supposed “critique of the identity principle”.
Von Franz worked in psychology and psychoanalysis, so anything she published about “identity” would not refer to the integers but to psychological concepts.

Weinstein did even more damage by making this “debate” look like a principled disagreement between scholars instead of a scuffle between two conspiracy theorists.
It's a real catch-22 though with that argument. How many absolutely terrible ideas have gone on to fester and be taken seriously by not just a large number, but indeed a majority of people?
Not long ago, we were laughing at the idea of a US president being elected while on trial for multiple criminal accusations, let alone one being allowed to assassinate their political opponent in an upcoming election.
Now both are part of our reality, and people are even defending it. Perhaps we should have taken this debate a bit more seriously?
Platforming flat earth-level nonsense as if it were a scientific debate is not wise, as it give the public there is some degree of merit to both. But once it's been made clear this is simply a YT debate for entertainment and not held to the standards of scientific scrutiny, you have to let the fringe make their case. Silencing them only makes you look suspicious, regardless of how absurd their position is.
Talk about missing the point.
It wasn't a debate and wasn't even advertised as such. Just because Weinstein gave a tactful beat down occasionally instead of just constant derision and condescension doesn't mean it wasn't a beat down of Terryology

Most of this podcast feels like Terry is the special child, Joe is the parent, and Eric is the teacher or school guidance counsellor.
They are enabling a mental case, and for the most part are handling him with kid gloves, trying not to crush his special soul. 🙉
They are enabling a platform (Rogan's podcast) that will invite anybody on the show to boost viewership and engagement and will not sufficiently challenge the claims of the guest if that will also boost engagement. Either that or Rogan is just ignorant of many of the subjects brought to his show by guests and thinks "just discussing the issues" is all he really needs to bother about. He almost studiously keeps himself unaware of whether the issues have been sufficiently discussed already by people who know a lot more than he does.
He shows multiple signs of psychosis, so your description is quite apt. It's disgusting behaviour from Rogan though
