I think if you were to pick up a GR Corolla, you should do what you mentioned and make it capable of everything you want the car to be able to do, track days, daily driving, canyon runs. It is a perfect platform for your channel in my opinion, because you do a little bit of everything.

I’m a huge fan of the GR Corolla, and I think it makes a phenomenal do it all daily driver. I seriously want one myself and keep trying to find an excuse to purchase one myself. If you were to get one, it would be awesome to see a daily driver setup that was capable of the occasional track day and well suited for back roads, as I think that’s what most people will use it for. I think having it on the channel would do well for you, and would be good opportunity to further grow it as their isn’t too many content producers for the car yet.

I also waited 1.5 year to get my gr corolla and almost gave up like you did.
It's one of my track toys and it's super fun on the track. The aftermarket support is already great for such a new platform.

I like the GR Corolla, I really do, but it's just too expensive especially compared to what the WRX starts at. And then you also factor in stealership markups...

You can tell you haven't been calling for GR's, and if you have, then you haven't searched far enough. I won't speak for all areas, but they are non existent in certain areas. There's comments here talking about how there aren't markups even in California. So I'm not sure why you'd make a comment when you clearly have no experience.

I have an 18 WRX and have seriously considered trading it in for a GR Corolla. But I’m not paying dealer markups and I would want an upper trim level. The GR Corolla is closer to what the WRX used to be and needs to go back to. But for now I’m sticking with the WRX as my daily car. It’s paid off, still has low miles for it’s age, and it’s been a good car.

I had a 2018 wrx @ 313/312. Got my GR premium this May in the color I wanted and @msrp within 6 weeks of deposit. I just called some dealers and asked if they mark em up and moved on if they did. I was thinking I’d miss my WRX compared to anything else, and boy was I wrong! The GR is quick and precise and I absolutely love it

I have a circuit. I got lucky enough to find one last August. After a ton of work searching for one that wasn't already spoken for. So I definitely think you should get one. I don't think you'll regret it. I think your approach would be welcome in the community. I was so close to buying a GR86, because of your content. The GR Corolla won me over with it's AWD in Northern Illinois. Even though I don't daily it. I have almost 5000 miles of pure smiles!

Kevin, the market has drastically changed in the last 12 months on a lot of cars. You probably know SoCal is probably one of the most marked up markets in the nation. A dealer here had 3 Circuit Editions and sold them just last week for 500 over invoice ( MSRP was around 46k and they sold for 44k before TTL ). MSRP is easy to get on Cores and Premiums with some dealers offering near invoice deals to move these.

I own one and I adore it. It's everything I wanted out of a daily driver and track car combo. Wonderful to drive long distances and a ton of fun, especially when grip levels get low. Great for trips to Tahoe as well.
If you do get one, I'd love to see some wide angle side view mirrors with heaters and BSM lights. No one offers those without a logo so far, and I'd love to see that. If the BSM light was a custom shape, like a Volvo BSM line, that'd be even cooler! Hit me up if you need help with developing products if you don't end up getting one of these cars.

I'm 6'4", and it's about as "all legs" as one can be and still look like a human being. I say this, because I've had my heart set on an FR-S/BRZ/GR 86 since I first heard about them, years back. Recently, I finally got to a point in life where I could afford to get one, and I can BARELY close the door in the damn things! Seat all the way back, steering wheel all the way up, I could fit, but it was a tight, pretty uncomfortable fit. Disappointing, to say the least.
Then I learned about the GR Corolla. And my dealership had one. A Circuit Edition in Ice Cap (white). So I took it for a test drive. And all sadness over the inability to justify a GR 86 went out the window the moment I pulled off the lot on that first drive. Went home with it that day. Total cost for 2024 Circuit Edition with the roof rack, door sill protectors, cargo envelope, and the charging cable package was ~$49k, including delivery, taxes, registration, etc. (Zero dealer markup, which is one of numerous reasons I love this dealership, and am lucky to have them nearby.)
I have been dailying it since June 8th, and I absolutely LOVE it. Just passed the first thousand miles on Weds! She's almost broken in, will be switching from break-in oil at 1500, and doing a transmission and transfer case/differential oil change then, as well. Only very minor mods so far, like an aftermarket start/stop button from Bonobo Products and an aftermarket shift knob from Billetworkz, and only minor mods in the near future (short-throw shifter, maybe a new steering wheel, summer/winter tire/wheel setup, maybe an intake), because I don't need anything else. It's an AWESOME car, and I couldn't be happier. Plus, I've already had several people stop and tell me how cool it is, including a guy driving a GT4RS, which put me on cloud nine for the rest of the day lol.
Anyway, get it. I want to see what you do with it, what mods you showcase, and give me ideas for mine. Because I LOVED what you've done with the '86, but I can't do anything with that information! Plus, I know you won't regret it!

      Selectable AWD vs. FWD. Done.
Don't get me wrong, I know the Civic's FWD is STELLAR. And it's a great car. More refined than the GRC, both in drive and interior appointment. But the GRC is a genuine hot hatch. The Civic, the Golf R... They've forsaken their roots. And that's fine, they're both arguably GREAT cars. But they're no hot hatches. They're Dad Bod hot hatches.

It’s so tail happy and it’s such a blast to drive every day. The gr Corolla on the other hand is so planted and confidence inspiring. The more I push it through turns the more it feels like it’s telling me to push it harder. They’re both wonderful cars and even just 50 hp more in the gr86 would honestly go so far. Everyone's talking about "daily this" and "track that" from their own perspective. From a RUclips perspective I would go with the GRC and sell the WRX if it has the potential to do more for the channel. The WRX isn't cool anymore (sorry!) and the GRC is. The WRX isn't meant to be on a track and the GRC is (more or less). Owing to the loss of the STI, I'm sure the size and depth of the aftermarket is significantly different between the two as well. IMO, the GRC seems like a no-brainer as a RUclips guy.

I'm not the biggest fan of them tbh, but it's still multitudes better than the WRX IMO

If you really want to do something different pick up a Hyundai …any of the N vehicles are amazing!

Hyundai N best bang for your buck and a fun car to drive at the limit. Brand snobbery keeps a lot of people away

      I have a VB 6mt and a Elantra N DCT. I adore them both.

From a business/marketing perspective, I do think it'd be better to stick with the WRX and not get the GR Corolla, since I'd imagine more folks can afford to get a WRX or GRZ than a GR Corolla. It's easier to sell products to folks that have the car you're marketing stuff for.
From a personal perspective - Get what you'd like to drive mate, our opinions don't matter much :P
As for what I'd drive, if I didn't have my GRZ, I'd probably get the VB since more R&D seems to have been done with that platform

searching for words how to say nice but I'll be straight forward. Nice car but it's one video car not project. if you want audience you need to pick up something more likeable by audience. don't get me wrong you doing great videos, editing, voice and all agenda is really good makes me watch, but damn Toyota makes me not watch it. but congratz with your new car all the matters that you are happy.
I started following you right before you quit your job, watched couple videos but nothing pics me up like Goonzquad guys channel. wish you all the best

Ehh.. dont sell the wrx for the GR corolla... just throw power mods at the wrx.. the corolla wont be around in a couple years... but the rexy will. its gonna be like a ford focus RS... the mark ups killed the community for the car, because Toyota wouldnt reign in dealers, and people just couldnt get em... its a corolla at the end of the day, its super pedestrian inside and cheap. its really not that special say, over a type R.. and if you are gonna buy a car for the track, for that price you might as well get a type R. Sure its fun, but keep in mind, is it gonna be a good buy after the honeymoon?? You already have a car that has more potential for the track, the 86... it would just be more of the same...

Go get a corolla bro don't waste your money on Subaru there engine sucks. The corolla haves more potential that's my opinion.

The new FA24 in the WRX has shown very good potential and has been a huge improvement over the past engine so I'm not so sure!
