    The difference in low light is pretty substantial in photo with the r8 being clean well over 10,000 iso, but in video mode the r7 is surprisingly great! I have both, and the r8 is definitely a great b and amazing photo cam.

    Fantastic video. As a proud R7 owner, I agree with pretty much everything said. For low-light, have you tried using the R7 with an 18-35?

      Thanks so much man! I love my R7 and yes I have! I just made a video on it last week as I used it at 2 wedding shoots last week, it's amazing! Perfect combo!

    I have both R7 and R8, honestly R8 is just better to me as an event videographer. The R7 oddly only crops at 4K 50/60 .. R8 can do crop in all formats of recording including 1080p. This isn’t mentioned by many ppl and I plan to make a video explaining how important movie crop is to event/wedding videographer ! Cheers man keep up the good work

      Good point mate. Crop video would really help at weddings and i haven't thought about using it and that's weird it doesn't do it at 24/25p. That would be super helpful if it did. Thanks a lot for your comment, i really appreciate it and that's a video I would defiantly be interested in watching!

      The r7 doesn't crop because it's already cropped, it's a crop sensor. It's nice on full frame being Abel to crop in, but if you like the extra reach then the crop sensor is great.

    I shoot stills only. And I shoot birds mainly. So R7 is a no brainer for me. R8 looks great, but it has far less control and the lack of a mech shutter limits it for fast action/low light. Plus small body and battery.. I got a Metabones speedbooster. Makes for a great low light monster R7 I find

      Sounds great! I was thinking about the speed booster but I have 2 RF lenses but could be a good choice

    Hey there. I enjoyed all your . . Information in the video. I'm on the fence between the r7 and R8 for different reasons. I'm mainly going to be using it for nighttime astro photography. The main draw for R7 is having more reach with the ASP-c sensor and and the higher megapixel sensor will give me better resolution for cropping photos which will be mosi of my images during those shoots. On the other hand the R8 has larger pixels and obviously better late gathering capability but how much better?. What would be your opinion on that? Do you think there's a big difference between the two or marginal? If there isn't a huge difference of light gathering ability between the two sensors, lthe R7 is also my choice for a lot of the same reasons you mentioned. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

      Hey! Thanks a lot. I would say go for the full frame for the night astro shoots, however i have never shot astro night photography before so it's hard to say. You could use the APSC Crop mode on the R8 to get the extra reach, but then your basically halving your MP to like 12 compared to 30 on the R7, but 12 isn't bad, it just means you can't crop as much! If it was me, I would go full frame R8, I only chose the R7 because of the batteries and R8 overheating in video. If the R8 took the same batteries as the R6 II, I would have chosen the R8. I love my R7 and it's great at stills. But it's not the sharpest in low light. I was on 4000 ish ISO at a recent wedding and they don't look super sharp. What's your thoughts?

    Hey buddy, I am really having a hard time selecting between R7 and R8, because I have few ideas for short films and I have to upgrade from my old 550D please recommend, which one should I take,

      Hey mate, if you can live with the battery life and maybe buy a V mount battery, you could go for the R8, but the overheating really puts me off. So it depends how long you'll be shooting for and if it's hot in your areas, will you be willing to live with them to get full frame? The R7 has great battery life, IBIS, not as bad overheating and 2 card slots if you would like that. But it's an APSC sensor, I would personally go for the R7, as I already have haha! Plus I think APSC is great for video in some scenarios

    The R6 mark 1 would have been a better option over the R7 for low light video.

    • @samuelmaynard84
      @samuelmaynard84  7 месяцев назад +1

      True for full frame, but I don't like the overheating and record limit in the R6 Mark I that's why I went for the R7, plus it was cheaper

    I bought one for b cam. My quick review is that the video up to 6400 iso is likely better then r6ii in dynamic range. The photos are good but I would prefer the r6ii images. I find the r7 images breakup when editing.

      @samuelmaynard84  10 месяцев назад

      Oh really didn't think the R7 would be better for dynamic range, I've noticed a lot of noise in my r6II . I'm going to take a look at the photos I took at the wedding soon and see how they are , really liking the camera so far though!

    I recommend you look into getting a speed buster. That will give you an extra stop off light and will give that full frame look. The canon one is a bit expensive but Viltrox makes one for half the price. The catch is that you can only use it with ef lenses, but, I see that you already use an adapter so it should be no problem for you.

    • @samuelmaynard84
      @samuelmaynard84  10 месяцев назад +1

      I was looking into that but I saw it was expensive, definitely a great option for the future because it will be closer to full frame, plus the extra stop of light like you said. I did see though apparently the Viltrox one isn't the best outside or with a low F/stop because of colour shifts or flares, I can't remember exactly what was wrong tbh but it's half the price so it might be worth giving it a go! Thanks for your comment and help!

      I have the R7 on speed booster from viltrox. It is perfect for video but for photo you’ll get terrible edge results, it’s almost like the image is “smeared”
