- Hikaru may be one of the strongest Grandmasters in the world, but how good is he at the chess themed Wordle spin off Chessle?

this actually seems like a good way to train opening theory
I've learned more playing this than I ever have before lmao, I've always said i should learn some openings then never committed to it
Tho you still have to study the plans and ideas behind the openings not just the moves
@@verbfrombonsai8852 Yes and no. Yeah this won't teach you how to actually play the openings, but I think coming at this from the perspective of not knowing the openings really teaches you to explore some lines and see what works and why. Even if you don't learn and play these openings I think that little thought exercise is extremely valuable.
@@TeaRanosaur That's a fair assessment. Versatility is a good thing to have, but mastery is much more valuable for beginners.
1-2 openings each for white and black is good enough to graduate from beginner to intermediate.
Mastery over an opening usually trumps having a dozen openings with mediocre mastery
But of course, once you have mastered 2 openings, you go to master your third, then your fourth, then your fifth, and so on.
Bottomline is, you don't really need versatility to graduate from being a beginner, but versatility is vital if you want to get out of intermediate
I need more Hikaru chessle content.
@Jordan chordle Deez nuts
@@aayushrai9454 gottee
Lol he wasn't this happy when he won the Grand Prix 🤣
Hahahahaha
Im sure he was when he got back to his hotel room
Simply because he got his revenge and won this week’s tournament while streaming LOL
He literally didn't care about winning the GP😁
Cause this is more fun.
Hikaru spent like 20 minutes on that 4th attempt
ResidentSleeper
Kinda thought it was pirc
Missing all the time that he already knew e5 was in there and he didn't factor that in 😅
Long enough for him to forget he already guess turn 5 c3 on attempt 3
The fastest chess player and the slowest chessle player in one person.
one thing to increase your efficiency in mastermind like games (e.g. mastermind, wordle, chessle, etc.) is once you already have a confirmed item in a position, but still too little information about the entire sequence you can use that position to gain more information in your next try:
more concretely in chessle, if you know the first move of white is e4 (it appears green) in your second guess you can put something different as the first move of white, like a knight move or a different pawn move to get new information about if that move is part of the opening, instead of putting a move you already know happened like e4 (which yields 0 new information) instead.
(btw sorry for my bad English, It is sadly not my native language)
(edited it to add more commas)
only works with knight moves though (for e4) since what other pieces can you move, and you usually move all the knights in the first guess anyways
If its like regular wordle, then you're *not* allowed to do this in expert/hard mode.
your English is very much alright, altho i would prefer seeing more commas, 'cos otherwise it's hard to parse blocks of text like that xd
(altho im not native speaker either, and use quite a lot of internet speak and made up shortcuts for long words xD)
In things like wordle, this is a sure fire way to get in a certain amount of tries, but I think the original way of playing it is better for less guesses
There is some problem for chessle with this. if you don't play E4 as white, then black can never take on E4 and that might be a correct move
That laugh at last XD 😂😂😂😂😂
You are mistaken. That was a cough! 😂
Idk man, what u call laugh+cough?
He laughs like Santa lol
I looked for it... didnt fibd it... what a spoiler -.-
Great to see some Chessle content. It's currently my favourite wordle variant along with nerdle and sedecordle.
I kinda think the best first Expert guess will be something like
1 d4 d5 2 Nf3 Nf6 3 Nc3 Nc6 4 e4 e6 5 e5 g3
Yes I know this isn't a real opening but it plays a lot of the common opening moves so you're likely to hit a bunch of yellows and the yellow/grey could lead you to a valid guess on 2nd round
Yeah, or 1 d4 d5 2 c4 e6 3 Nc3 Nf6 4 Nf3 Nc6 5 e4 e5 or something. Good idea. For the next shot bring a couple of bishops out (which ones depends on which pawn moves actually got played).
@@rosiefay7283 You kinda don't have to do c4 since you can extrapolate that it is an english or queen's gambit based on your other results
Would love to see just a few GMs playing this together and try to get the best score
Finally we found what he cares about
I tried Chessle, and I must say that it’s incredibly hard when you don’t know any openings. It’s not just that I dont know them well, it’s that I genuinely have never learned openings or anything like that. The only thing I’ve learned from watching Hikaru and The Botez Sisters is to control the center. Regardless, I got my first chessle game in 4 guesses. I felt pretty good about it
I completely failed my first time, but in my defense the opening started with b3
@@0Clewi0 B3 is decently common
Hikaru saying "who's the man" makes me think of a mother saying "who's a big boy?!"
We need more chessle Hikaru
I think at 2:30 hikaru shouldn’t choose Bg2 after choosing g3 because he can use it to test another move. If g3 is correct then obviously bg2 will follow, but I guess it’s a gamble bc he risks not being correct on the second try
You should find the best starting sequence of moves to solve the chess Le in the smallest amount of moves and call it the chessle gambit
Hikaru struggling on KG is understandable. Back then chess were wildin without computers
Mastermind wow, that really takes me back
6:14 I memorised a few king's gambit lines a little while ago so I was pretty sure of the solution even then lol
Hikaru should play the openings from the Chessle of the day and see how far he can take them...
I like that idea a lot! Although it would be contingent on what his opponent decides to play so it might not actually work
probably a 20% chance the opponent even responds right on move 1 let alone over 5 moves
@@snugglypichu6881 true. It could be something he could do with his subscribers/followers though!
Interesting concept. I haven´t heard of it before so I just thought about the swabian sufix "le" as the diminutive. so I thought this would be about a very simple form of chess.
Now this is content lmaoo
This is might actually be a really interesting way for to study openings 😂
Theres word-le, chess-le, world-le. I wonder what nest-le will be
nerdle too
i tought my mom wordle and the first thing she said to me was" That game reminds me of master mind i used to play when i was little!" lol
We need more chessle from Hikaru!!
3:43 Hikaru after solving Chessle compared to when he win the Fide Grand Prix rn XDD this man
3:43 when my grandpa has a mate in 1, but I unplug his life support.
this content is too good
They should make a version of this using openings from 300 ELO players
Ah yes starting with
1. e4 e5
2. Qh5+ g6
3. Qxe5+ Be7
4. Qxh8
0:01 that laugh made me instant like the video hohohohohoooooh 🤣🤣
Your twitch chat contributes so much to the conversation.. holy emoji Batman..
17:44 Santa claus.. is that you ?
weight wait weyt wayt
yesterday chessle was easy but im stupid so i got 5/6 5 times in a row
Might as well title the video “Wait, wait, wait a second”
My first guess is always e4 e5 d4 d5 c4 c5 Nc3 Nc6 Nf3 Nf6
If you say "wait" one more fuckin time I'm gonna lose it.
17:40 HOHOHOHO incredible
When you're guessing an answer for a number on a test: 10:55
8:09 8:55 thought my minecraft was still opend (villiager)
when hikaru played bc4 I instantly thought italian, but the king's gambit made more sense
Hikaru has wayyyy to many tropical shirts
Ludwig has a massive Chessle due to pectus excavatum
I won the normal mode in 3 tries the first time I played chess-le.
at 14:57 I thought white had to play e5 at some point but i forgot the other color could also play the move
Hikaru struggling almost like the King's gambit isn't in his repertoire.
I'd probably do this line every first round:
1. e4 e5
2. d4 d5
3. Nf3 Nf6
4. Bc4 c5
5. Nc3 Nc6
Emmy 1st guess is always D4 d5 c4 c6 nf3 nf6 nc3 e6 e4 e5. Gets a bunch of the notable moves
everybody gangup until hikaru accidentally reveals prep
Was hoping for Dutch D
We want moreee vidoes of this game i love ittt
I wonder if the bong cloud is included
Did you guys know that Knight moves are rare?
Bonus fact: Pawn moves are common
Not enough arrows
He is cheating. He has the entire openings database in his brain that he is referencing from.
17:46 🎅
Actual 5 head
Unfortunate timing Chessle is under maintenance now that Hikaru’s viewers want to play.
Hikaru probably owns chessle
chessel on the thumbnail
Does chessle know the bong cloud?
Loved this
One question...
HOW THE F-?
Keep doing these pls lols
I don't understand anything but i still enjoy it lol
I love mastermind!
do chessLe use logic/optimal pattern or you can have losing/unoptimal ones ?
If it use only good Opening, can it be a way to learn them / memories them ?
I'm too good! Yeah we know that.. that's the reason we watch you play and rant chess everyday.
To beat Mastermind, just make every color the same, then keep those if they are right, and do every other peg a new color (same) until you've figured out the pattern. Automatic win within 6 guesses
except mastermind had 8 colors so this strategy is not optimal to get within 6 guesses.
@@WatermanViolinStudio usually! I don't think I ever lost a game using this method
Sorry, 8 guesses. Usually within less
@@hunwa425 doesn't it also have to be in a particular order?
@@WatermanViolinStudio wait, i thought mastermind only have 6 colors, and 8 guesses??
even the easy mode is almost impossible for an average player
just press f12 from your keyboard >> go to console >> type "ans" >> the answer is shown ,,, bye
Shouldn't everything be 'J U I C E R ' though????
Wow finished one in 2 guesses, it was quite the read I got.
More please
Bro, I always laugh on your videos
whats the music thats playing at 4:00?
"i literally dont care", 12 decades later, "nf6 is just bad"
This is a meta game
3:44 Who his the man though?
this chessle is gut
Putting money in Magnus' pocket cos it's sponsored by Chessable? Good for you Hikaru
2. Ke2
I tried this game, but I don't have enough knowledge about opening. HG
When hikaru cares
What does the GM in front of his name mean?
Grand Master
Wait
This is insane!!!!!
why blur?
Today was so hard
why not first guess is c4 c5 e4 e5 d4 d5 nf3 nf6 nc3 nc6
He's just not that good at games lol, he's great at chess.
Failed my first try on this game. I should play the Benko Gambit
same lmao
Ok
Holy shit the repeating has gotten even worse. I know he has commented on it before saying it’s just because he’s streaming but it’s definitely some type of manifestation of his genius.
🤯
Hohohohohoho!!!
Anyone else watching having no idea of the terminology
Who doesnt
cant find this tool 😞
Chessle sounds like a white girl name
Kinda rac!st.
