    I just noticed some scratches like this on my 2018 BRZ. Car is flawless otherwise, was a little worried until i saw this video. Thanks man.

    This is a fairly old video, but nowadays, each dealer sells paint protection films that can easily be placed on the door cups, edges, rear and front bumpers. It’s a moldable transparent film that works great and it’s barely noticeable so it won’t cheapen the way your car looks.

  • @RyanCookston
    @RyanCookston 10 лет назад +3

    White car, use mr clean magic eraser. Hell of a lot cheaper. If u rub to hard it will go through the clear coat. Also great for scuff marks, ex. Bumper scratches, white trim work, so forth so on, as long as you do it right. Its truly a smart and inexpensive way to fix it.

  • @Ryan74777
    @Ryan74777 6 лет назад +5

    Doesn’t that ruin the clear coat?
    (This is late and I don’t know much about it so just wondering)

    Yeah, those scratches always bothered me. I would see them on the used cars I looked at (including the Focus I bought). And just recently, I was looking at how to remove the handle (to get to it with my buffer), but it involves WAY more dismantling than I'm comfortable with. So it's nice that there's an easy way to deal with it. :)

    you can use any compound wax or polish to remove them even paint thinner

  • @smalloy88

    It seems to work great on white paint. Is there any concern for fading or staining darker colored paint? My brand new car is dark blue, and it seems like someone at the dealership must have been wearing rings when opening and closing the door

    • @NabilLanang
      @NabilLanang 9 лет назад +2

      +Sean Malloy i believe it would be the same for blue paint because basically its a compound for all colours

    • @imoffendedthatyouareoffended
      @imoffendedthatyouareoffended 4 года назад

      Sean Malloy seriously, I’m pretty sure all the scratches on my new car are from the dealership, I’m ocd and never touch the inside of the handle like that, I almost always use one finger to open the door and yet there’s so many scratches, I’m the only one who drives my car and there’s also a rip in my leather on the e-brake, I don’t even pull the ebrake up all the way so idk how the hell it got there, but my Subaru has been in and out of the dealership on many occasions and left over night on multiple occasions as well. I also keep my nails trimmed and I don’t know where the hell they keep coming from. Gunna pick up some polish in the morning and give it a shot, if it cleans up I’m putting a clear bra on each area to protect it. But I feel I shouldn’t have to, mine looks as bad as the video but I’ve only had my car for 2 years and just barely hit 11k miles

    does she have metal nails god damn

    • @allisonhernandez2534
      @allisonhernandez2534 5 лет назад +1

      I have male neighbors and this area of their car looks darker than how this one started out. I believe it does not take something as hard as acrylic or as reinforcing as nail polish to leave such dark marks. By comparison metal is much harder than the keratin in nails. Yet it seems even unpolished and short nails do the damage as well.

    have very light scratch marks on audi sq5 wheels (black+ coated) plus some swirl marks on the door panel black trim caused by using incorrect microfiber towel. I'm thinking of non abrasive polish and terry cloth to do those by hand... any thoughts?

  • @Breze84
    @Breze84 8 лет назад +8

    easier to use a drill with a foam ball

    If I do this to a black car, do I need to follow up with a finishing polish. Thanks great vid!!

      Hey Jason, I would say yes, something like V38 with a white foam applicator would do the trick, thanks for watching!

    Using a simple microfiber cloth will do a better job than the pad and you can get into tighter places.

    What's your solution to remove swirl and light scratches from a black paint of a BMW ? Without using a machine .

  • @Kamikazee011
    @Kamikazee011 6 лет назад +1

    These scratches are very common. I see them a lot when I look at other peoples cars. My question is, how can we protect our cars from this? I am really careful when it comes to my car with black finish but my uber customers don’t really care much.

    Can I use this compound to remove tar/stains on my side skirts? I think my wheels are splashing it on my sideskirt and it is hard to remove. I tried claying and it did ok but there are still some that wont remove.

    • @mikebaca6312
      @mikebaca6312 7 лет назад

      iceweaseltv I'd use a bug and tar remover. No need to remove clear coat unless you absolutely have to.

    why would you cut up those applicator pads? it is much easier and even better to use a microfiber towel

    • @weaverpsu
      @weaverpsu 8 лет назад

      the pad is abrasive whereas a microfiber towel is not. The pad is designed to help with the gritty polish to get scratches out

    • @NabilLanang
      @NabilLanang 8 лет назад +1

      weaverpsu actually microfiber has more cutting than foam pad and higher chance leaving micro scratch

    • @weaverpsu
      @weaverpsu 8 лет назад +5

      +Nabil Lanang it's an orange cutting pad, more aggressive than most pads except yellow. If a microfiber towel had cutting power we wouldn't be using them to dry our cars. I've seen microfiber cutting pads though.

    Does this get rid of the scratches or just cover them up until it rains or until you wash it?

    • @isababa97
      @isababa97 9 лет назад +4

      cwuzii, it's a compound. Compounds are abrasives and they remove microlayers of your clearcoat to smooth out and have the layers be even so no scratches stand out.
