four attempts with a piece of looped garden wire and managed to get a grip on the button which is tapered inward towards the top so string was no good. The wire pulled really tight and gripped the button just enough to pull it up. Job done. took an hour and of course it started to pi** with rain but what a relief when it opened. The keys were in the ignition and the ignition was on. No idea how it managed to miraculously lock itself, it doesn't have one of those self-locking systems which lock after 5 minutes. Thank you so much for the advice. Relieved and in the dry.

Instead of using a wire hanger which may be a bit tricky to use and can be difficult to squeeze between the window glass and door, I would opt for a two-inch wide, one-foot long, 18-gauge/1 mm thick strip of sheet metal or plastic and cut a round one-inch diameter hook-like notch on the side of the strip near the tip you will be inserting. All you need to do is slide the strip up and down near the door knob until it hooks onto the locking rod, after which you pull upward while tugging on the door handle to get the door unlocked. While this custom made tool may not work on all vehicles, I once opened in a matter of seconds, the door of a vehicle which a tow truck operator took over an hour to accomplish with a wire hanger.

To anyone that might find it handy. I'm going to say that today I used to lock inside my ford fiesta mk6 (year 2007) the only key I had. In my country those air pump wedges and other accessories are not available unless bought online. So I used 3 screwdrivers covered a 5 mm layer of napkins to not scratch the outside paint and I used them to open the rear door from above and I used to place an empty lighter to hold the door a little open. Than i put a long STRAIGHT wire with a one inch hook and luckily after few minutes I managed to catch the handle of the other door in front of me. I first tried to catch the handle of the same door where I inserted the wire but after almost 2 frustrating hours it didn't work. I should say I was LUCKY. You can try a lot but without the right tools you only depend on luck in such situation hoping to catch the handle and the handle of the fiesta is on the very bottom and can't be catched from above. To anyone that doesn't have a spare key I would suggest to make one ASAP, it's worth every single penny compared to getting locked outside and spend a fortune for a locksmith , break a window or waste half a day praying to catch that handle!!!

All you need is a strong sucker or two on the glass, put a strip of tape under each one to stop it slipping down the glass and pull down hard. This will overcome the safety mechanism on vehicles fitted with electric windows allowing you to open the window far enough to reach the inner door handle. Easy! 😁

Hi with you're car the only safe way to open that type is with a wonder tool on the passenger front door but one still has to be super careful to not shatter the window they are cheap windows but yes a slim jim works as well but it also bends the line or breaks the plastic on the lock unlock system first it cracks then a few days or weeks later it breaks and you have no idea why lol be carefull on that a long reach tool also is dangerous for that type of vehicle unless it's hot out in the cold the window shatters easy and the door frame leaks air after its pulled out far enough to use the long reach tool which is like using a coat hanger but stronger stay safe keep a key in a sealed box mounted under the car in a safe spot so you save money and all you need is a small screwdriver to access the box :) an electrical pvc box is weather proof just mount it securely :)

I forgot the seat heat on, and my battery went off. Unfortunately the keys do not work either ! I noticed that the pins on all four doors are completely inside the doors. So it will not be easy to open any of the car doors ! For now, i do not really know how to solve the situation !
