ENJOY! - Авто/Мото
The A990 cars were easily recognizable and feared for all the racers knew how dominating they were… love it !
Hi Richard, Happy to read you "love it !" :-) Lou
Love seeing a rare example of Chryslers racing history.
Hi Chris, Happy to read you enjoy see this car :-) Lou
Beautiful A990 mopar.! Butch Leal was a big part of drag racing through the years.! And that HEMI rumble - music to my ears. ! I still have some of the models of his cars I built. Thanks Lou, and Mike, sounds like he had some fun racing that super stock. !
Hi Kevin, Happy to read you enjoy this episode :-) Glad to read you had some of the models! You're welcome, Lou
Lou, I had almost fully forgotten that at one time I ran against Butch Leal's Plymouth Duster during a time trials race at Englishtown NJ. I had him beat until after mid-track. He turned a high 9 compared to my high 10.
Hi Sergeant Masson, Sounds like a FUN race and a great memory! Lou
I have not heard the name “Butch Leal” in years; I have not followed drag racing since the 90s. I worked for Nationwise Auto Parts back in the mid 80s down in Florida. The Company attempted to field a drag race team in various door slammer classes and a NASCAR team. Butch Leal drove the Nationwise Pontiac Firebird in Pro Stock. I never got to meet the Feller, though. One thing I remember ole Butch being known for was he didn’t make use of a tachometer, he just listened to the engine.
Hi Donald, Happy to read this one brings back memories of when you followed drag racing :-) Thank you for viewing & sharing, Lou
Mr. Kayrouz's car sounds fast and loud! My favorite combo! Thanks, Lou!
Hi TheGunfighter45acp, Happy to read you enjoy the sounds from this car :-) You're welcome, Lou
Learned something from Lou today. I've always thought that Line Lock was invented to facilitate burnouts by disabling the rear brakes. Turns out it was originally used on stick shift cars to hold the car on the start line while the drivers feet were on the gas and clutch pedals. Only years later in the late 60's did burnouts come into existence and the second purpose for Line Lock was found.
Hi JackF, Happy to read you learned something. I'm learning from the Care Takers all the time and I find that to be so much fun, Lou
Great comment.
I'd forgotten about this 'feature' but knew of one.
383 mag drive line into a Ford Econoline from the '60s. Mid '70s then.
named Medusa. It was there but not used much. Hit it hard enough.
line locks were a nice little invention. originally used to keep the car from drifting on the start line to avoid a red light.
You know you`re old when you can remember these cars racing right in front of you at the drag strip.
Thank you for bringing back some awesome memories to me.

@@loucostabile Two FANTASTIC cars, Lou. I really love your videos. You bring back some great memories from that time. ....My racing partner and I had a 69 Hemi RoadRunner bought new in May 1969.(Wish I still had it !). By the time we were done with it, it was running in B/MP.......When I saw your video of one of Butch's first cars, I had to comment. He went from Mopar to Chevy and back to Mopar again. A nice guy, hope he is OK after all these years......Thank you again,Lou for all your great videos !!
Great vid Lou, remember seeing that run at great lakes circa 67, 68, I actually built that revell model when I was 11 or 12, had to be 1968, damn I'm old!

What SWEET MUSIC!!!
Hi Beast 1624, Happy to read you enjoy the sounds from this car :-) Lou
I remember Butch Leal from back in the early 60’s racing Chevys. I also remember this car from then thou this is a ‘65 race hemi car. Butch was a young hot shoe from Calif hence the name on the cars side. He was extremely competitive as well. Could not recall thou that this was a rare 4 speed car. Most seemed to be torqueflite automatics.
Hi Kim, Happy to read this car brings back memories :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Thanks for sharing this👍. Amazing part of Drag racing history.
Hi Roger, Happy to read you enjoy this "Amazing part of Drag racing history" :-) You're welcome, Lou
That is absolutely beautiful machine. I am quite partial to the b-body Mopars from the '60s as for quite a few years I had a 63 Dodge Polara
Happy to read you had a 63 Polara :-) NICE!
This is great !
California Flash back ;)
I remember being a kid in the '60s and seeing this in print and the model as well. Cali kid, so...
I loved the engine bracing,,,,"It had motor mounts but it kept breaking them...."
why am i not surprised :)
Classic, Lou. Thank you !!
Hi Glen, A "California Flash back" :-) GOOD ONE! My pleasure sharing this car with you. You're welcome, Lou
Great segment Lou. Superb vehicle with a terrific owner. Noticed that there were no side mirrors. I guess they felt they didn't need them as no one would be close by in a race
Hi Kevin, Happy to read you enjoy this segment :-) Mirrors might add weight and wind resistance too, Lou
Very beautiful 65 Plymouth brother.
Hi CJ Colvin, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Lou
@@loucostabile Thanks Lou I sure do brother. Do you have anymore to do more Canadian Muscle Car videos.

Hi John, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this "Gorgeous" car :-) You're welcome, Lou
Yeah Brother, WOW! Just love the presence of these gorgeous pieces of rolling automotive history. Can't beat it! I love how the gentlemen that drove these back in the day sum it up about driving these beauties, "It was just a fun car to drive". That's what it was all about, having fun and winning!

Hi, Lou! Race on Sunday, sell on Monday...post to RUclips on Thursday! So amazing how Mike was able to get all the original logos for the restoration, and I never knew there was such a thing as a separate shift knob just for reverse! I can picture Mike or Butch Leal having Jan and Dean singing as they're dragging, "Burnin' up the quar-ter miiiiiiiile!"
Since we can't all get to the MCACN, thankfully we have your channel to take us there. Many thanks to you and Mike for giving us a look and listen to this potent racing machine!
Hi iswc27, "post on RUclips Thursday!" NICE! My pleasure bring a few of the MANY fun cars from MCACN to you. You're welcome, Lou

Hi Thomas, Happy to share this rare Mopar drag car with you :-) Hope your model builds to look just like this one, Lou
Butch Leal lives down from my grandparents in Visalia, Ca
Thank you for sharing Donald.
Goodday Lou,
What a beautiful A990 just gorgeous history staring right at you.
The only year the mighty 426 was offered with aluminum heads.
The greatest travesty was that
Ma Mopar should of offered aluminium heads on the 426 as an option just to reduce the weight off the front end.
That sound WOW not for the faint hearted.
It would be a ride you would never forget going for a blast in the FLASH.
Your number 1 Fan in Australia
Louis Kats from Melbourne Australia ☺ 👍

¡Excelente video, y saludos!
Hi Jaime, Thank you for viewing & sharing. You're welcome, Lou
Brilliant.
High praise :-)
Very nice 😀

Nice :-)
Wow
Hi David, Happy to receive a "Wow" from you :-) Lou
chingon
Thank you Mr. CHON :-)
Actually the Dodge A100 van seats do not tilt forward, they stayed upright. Super Stock Mopar's seats were only made for these cars, they tilt forward. They look like A100 seats but were not.
Hi American Insurgent, Thank you for sharing your A100 van seat knowledge. Lou
That's a straight line shifter, no H pattern. Pull up on front t handle that's first second. Then just back and fourth.

Butch Leall used to race against the Yankee Peddler driven by Bill Flynn
Thank you for sharing.
Its a shame that it has those wheels on it. I believe that this car which sat in front of a home in Bakersfield, Ca. for a long time.It wasn't until an old car cover started to rot and blow away in the wind, that the discovery was made.
