Thank you very much, I appreciate that!
Brother... I’ve watched so many tutorials on painting clouds and no one has made it look as simple as you have in this tutorial. Thank you so much! I’m going to look into your online classes after I try this technique!!
Thank you so much for your kind comments!
Now I finally understand clouds! Thank you so much for this lesson. I'm very excited to practice this. The only way my cloud painting can go from here is up😊. I look forward to watching more of your lessons.
Very happy to hear you found this helpful, I'll be posting more soon. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@gagnonstudio glad to see your posting more videos, I remember when you first started, you were the biggest RUclipsr for painting lessons at the time- guess because you became busy real fast at that time you didn't post as much...happy to see your back, best wishes to you. Thanks for the full tutorials as well posting on your channel- especially now that your posting videos using oils....greatly appreciated.
I remember the tree videos- so many people painted those tree lessons....it was so popular so fast back then.....
Can't believe it's been over 13 yrs!!! Seems like yesterday....
I just came across your channel a couple days ago and I’ve been binge watching all your videos..you’re an amazing teacher and I have already learned so much! Thanks for taking your time to teach us! Definitely subscribed and will recommend this channel to my painter friends!!!
Thank you very much Mavis, I really appreciate that. Let me know if you ever have any questions!
It is nice to paining clouds in oil and as use brush and colors🌞👍!
Thank you! Cheers!
Best cloud tutorial I’ve seen! New subbie 😊
Thanks for sharing your talent and methods for creating beautiful atmospheric paintings
Thank you for this Tim ✨👏. I currently paint with acrylics, but am going to try oils some time in the future. Clouds are one of my favourite things to paint as they are so free 😍.. I may have a thing for the sky all together, my father was a meteorologist, so looking up to the sky was something that happened a lot 😊.
A fellow cloud lover! I love skies as well, mostly because they are beautiful and just have so many different moods and emotions. Thank you for watching!
So glad this video was recommended to me. It was a joy to watch you paint, it even inspired me to pick up a brush again. Your channel is wonderful. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Thank you! I appreciate that you took the time to watch, and comment. Hope the videos can help in the future as well.
Thank you for the easy lesson! I could follow you, so beautiful!
THank you so much!
Thank you! Very helpful. I usually paint in acrylic and gouache but slowly getting up the courage to break out my oil paints, LOL. Glad you will be posting more videos!
Glad you'll give oils a try, they are fun, and give you a different experience than acrylics. I love both mediums! Thanks for watching.
Oh boy...I finally get it!!
Thank you for giving proper, crystal clear instructions. Appreciate how you are set up and a good camera angle.
Gets frustrating when you're staring at someone's back...Some online paint nite instructors do just that. It's anyone's guess why our colors vary so much from instructors. Many don't explain the process, mixing or placement of subjects or objects 🤔 🙄
THANKS AGAIN!! I'm watching this on my phone without a problem or resolution issues. 😁👋😍
Awesome! I'm glad the video helped. Let me know if you have any questions about the techniques.
Glad to see you posting more Tim.....nice lesson!

Thank you very much!
Nice brush strokes which creating 3D effect. 👏👏👏 from Pakistan.
Thank you Shafqat!
Another good one Tim. You make it look easy. I guess the same principles would apply to acrylics ?.
Very helpful, Thanks again. Dave M.😎🇦🇺🦘.
You could take a similar approach with acrylics. The edges might be a little bit harder to pull off because the paint dries so quickly. The difference there is you'll be using light pressure to bring the cloud out into the sky rather than blending. Lighter pressure will make the edges softer when you use less paint around the edges because it will allow the blue sky to show through a little bit making it appear soft and hazy.
Could we do more contour of the clouds to create more depths with similar approach....or would have to wait for the oil paint to dry..very helpful techniques....thanks again for the lesson😃😀👍🏻👍🏻
@@gagnonstudio
Thanks for that Tim. Yea, acrylics can be a bit frustrating with fast drying. Great advice though, much appreciated. Dave M 😎🇦🇺🦘
Great job ! Gonna give it a try today thanks
Thank you, glad you're giving it a go! Enjoy!
@@gagnonstudio I've done it ! It worked great. I'm new to oil painting so it is super welcomed to learn the way you show things. Thanks a lot !
I have no experience ,was given tims name and taking it in
"two hair n some air" that's what Bob Ross used to say !!!!haha......thank you .....for this video ...relly helpful.......all the way from northeast India ... Meghalaya ...Shillong ......😃😀👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Haha good ol Bob. Thank you for watching.
Thank you! I love this negative painting approach for clouds in oil.
Thank you for tuning in. I'm glad you liked the technique!
Tim you indicated that this was going to be "a series" where is the continuation of this series??? Thanks
This looks so easy. But they never come out so well for me 😞
Hoping that this video will help. Be sure to give it a try! Thanks for watching!
An art teacher recommended using white gesso instead of titanium white, for acrylic paintings, which I’ve been doing for many years. What do you think of this idea, Tim? Thank you for your wonderful videos. Love them!
I think that can work. The only problem with gesso is that it dries super super fast and doesn't have the same sheen when it dries, so it can look a little chalky and flat. If you are using it mixed with other colors you won't notice that as much though, so I think it can work well there. I probably wouldn't use it as a highlight color personally but I don't believe in restricting any artist with arbitrary rules. Part of art is using tools and paint in unique ways to create your own style, so if you like using gesso as a mixing tool or as a highlight color you should continue if it works for you.
best
Thank you!
Is the video start to finish or did you allow drying time between certain points?
is it Cerulean blue?
Hi, I ordered this brush set last week, and haven’t gotten any emails or notifications for my order. Is there anyway to check into this for me?
Hi,
I'll check in on that for you. Thank you for letting me know. Can you email me at tim@timgagnon.com with your order number?
Tim - what kind of easel is that (at the beginning)? Or what easel would you recommend? 🤠
I've always used H frame easels. I find they are the most stable and allow for bigger canvases. Brand wise, I use Richeson.
@@gagnonstudio copy that! Thanks, mate.
@@gagnonstudio Tim you talked about this as being a series and you were going to post it as a series progressing into a cloud? I can't find the series for continuation of this series as you mentioned here? Thank you
My cloud is not dry enough
...show...
