Love the step-by-step instructions. Really good for a beginner and a good refresher course for somebody else who's painted a while. I don't think I mess up clouds again. 2:
I have enjoyed this more than you could ever understand. Thank you for sharing your talent so generously with the world . Now tomorrow I will get my trusty old paints out and enjoy my day . You have inspired me . I will keep watching you and check out some of your other work . You take care of your self .Katie
Really great tutorial. That was a very good point you made about keeping in mind how a painting looks from a distance because that's where most people will be looking at it. I remember once seeing a really interesting painting in a restaurant window across the street that really caught my attention one night. I had to cross the street to look in the window at it. It wasn't realistic really, it was a kind of expressiontic painting of loosely painted figures. But the bright warm colors and especially the contrast of tones with a really strong sense of glowing light to it was very interesting and beautiful from across the street even.
Tim, you are a fabulous teacher! I found you on RUclips to find some refresher lessons. And yes, I have been yelled at once while visiting the McMichael Collection. Big Group of Seven fan!
Hi Tim, been a long time patron of your lessons. Thanks so much for giving back to the community, it's so nice of you. This is a great lesson, and is so inspiring. Thanks again
This is a great tutorial as are all of the test of them. Very insightful and inspiring I enjoy all of them. I had a question. Afew Yeats ago I nelive it was an old barn painting tutorial I really liked the music on that one but I think you changed the songs on the video I was trying to find out one of the songs it is slow song with a girl singing some of the lyrics really pulled at my hart strings some of the lyrics go. Sooner or later it breaks. Thays all that I remember I really loved that song could you please tell me what the name of the song is or the artist so I can find it.
Great video. Thank you. Do you oil down a new canvas prior to painting ? Whenever I use my blending brush I get a stray brush strand and mess up my spot trying to remove it.
Thank you for the post Tim! I may have missed it, but could you say where the light source is? It seems like it is above and in front, but thought I'd ask. Thanks again!
You capture clouds so well! Do you use reference photos, or make it up as you go along? If you do it would be good to see the reference, and how you translate it.
Question ? Have been working on a very large landscape with clouds that are in perspective coming towards you and up out of top of view. The last 2 clouds are actually when you look up they are going over head and I'm seeing more of the bottom of cloud. What would you do to emphasize the bottom of cloud and still give it perspective?? There is less puffs on the bottom of cloud and it has a different look. Every time I painted it flattens out and doesn't look like the bottom of cloud looks like a cloud mistake. 😓 If you do have time I would appreciate any advice.
Hey Tim, thanks for the video. I've been following you for years now and you've aided a lot in my progression. I'm curious as to why you prefer neo magil (spelling?) as oppose to liquin? Thanks!
What I have learned today: When you want to blend your clouds, be sure to scrub in the color THIN or you will smear the crap out of everything...Well done!🤗🤗
Thank you for giving us a free lesson and also thx for doing it on RUclips as I am not on Facebook.
You are very talented.

A couple of years ago you posted a cloud formation exercise in acrylics. You should re-post that as well. It was very well done.

How about adding a big eagle or a plane or helocoptor?
Can I use acrylic in this lesson?
Thanks for your tutorials! you think this technique will work with acrylics?
When will you do part three?
Would it be possible to clump, say, 2 or 3 ad interruptions together instead of an ad every 2 minutes?
What are your favorited brushes for blending?
can i apply different colors of clouds in a same paintings ranging from purple to light pink and to light blue and some white sparkles?

A Challenge. How about a misty landscape like you first did years ago with mist rising up from stream. Bet you can do it.
