I've recently looked at so many artists on You Tube here showing us beginners how to do clouds. I'm going to finally try it. I like the techniques you've shown, but I especially appreciate your energy and humor. Who would think it is difficult to take the first step and start painting, but it is (for some of us.) Your happy video helps me think it really IS time I try.
I love himi miya gouache paint. I don,t use oil, acrylic or watercolours. I use gouache, watercolour paint brushes and water😊i love clouds. The fluffier the better😂🤣☁️👍🏾🎨👋🏾✌🏾🫶🏾
I was actually talking this morning about my struggles with clouds…. Then I see this video! 😁👍 perfect timing and you are so clear and detailed in your instructions. Thank you!
I love your videos and how they give insight into Bob Ross style painting, especially how to do it in acrylics. But, this is the probably your most helpful video. I have seen Bob do this technique quickly many times on his show but your breakdown really helps explain it better. Thanks!

I am from Washington State and the contrast between forest and desert is amazing. The deep valleys and evergreens with plateaus on either side. I really like how you taught us how to hold the brush for painting the clouds. I wish you would do maybe another nebula video and also teaches how to do the same thing I’ve been absolutely trying, but I think learning how to make clouds will help a lot.
Thanks for the video and your tips. I would love to learn how to paint sea foam... How it reaches the sand... with all the motion and reflection etc... thanks 😊🌸🌊
I have used some of your advice and techniques. I just started trying to paint and started with this style. First I tried acrylics As that is what I had on hand, On an 11 by 14 canvas board. I wet the back before I started, Which kept everything wet enough until I finished. It came out okay, But it was a little difficult because I couldn't really figure out how to make the paint layer as well as Bob describes and shows in his painting instruction. So I got some oils and tried it on another 11x14 canvas board. Painted with linseed oil on the back before I started so the paint wouldn't soak in. This one came out very good, considering it was the first real try. I showed it to my daughter-in-law who is an artist and she said it was amazing for a first try. I have a feeling it was more difficult because the canvas area was smaller. Also I used a smaller tear off pallet pad which also made it more difficult since there wasn't as much room to mix colors. Nevertheless, It turned out well. I do have a little background in art, but just in sketching and perspective from an Art instructions school when I was a teenager. I do seem to have a natural instinct for perspective and arrangement of items in a picture, but otherwise I have no training. I would send you a picture of it, but I can't figure out how to do that. :) I also found a deal on Amazon for pallet knives. I think I have found the company that makes the Bob Ross knives. It is called Phoenix, Gazeer. The way to look it up is to look for "Gazeer 2pcs Painting Knife - Two Palette Knives - Thin and Flexible Art Tools for Oil Painting, Acrylic Mixing, Etc." As far as I can tell they are the same flexibility and rigidness as the Bob Ross knives for less than 10% of the price, only $6.99. If a lot of people start buying them they might raise the price I don't know.
I am glad to hear that you are having so much fun with your art adventures :) You can always send me what you paint via social media... twitter, IG and such... that info is in the video descriptions.
Here is one not alot of people can do and there arent many good tutorials on youtube - big rocks and big stones (like on big beach seascapes) , maybe using the pallette knife or a brush Also, I really liked the format of the video - maybe you could've shown how to scrub clouds using a filbert brush, but fan brush is awesome too 1 more thing you can show - two toned sunset clouds can be hard, since sunsets have alot more colors than just blue.
I plan on doing a series of clouds so maybe I can show you how I do it with a filbert and the two toned clouds. As so rocks, I will add it to the list buddy :)

How wet was the blue before the white went on? The blue seemed wet enough to blend, but I'm very new to this and I need a bit more instruction please.
When painting like Bob Ross ( aka wet on wet ) you can paint immediately on top of another layer. So you can paint your sky.... then move on to your clouds within moments. Having the paint wet allows you to achieve awesome blending effects. I hope that helps

Thanks Wild, always enjoy your videos. We'll practice these based upon what you taught today! I LOVE the advice you gave about just working on one cloud at a time. Is the Windsor paint more thick than the Ross paint? Blending (super light strokes) is still SO difficult.
Glad you are enjoy them - Make sure to check out the sky tutorial that goes with this too - It will help you a lot. In addition I am working on a mountain tutorial too. Now you will have half of a painting that I walk you through :) Sky: ruclips.net/video/m_LTAgS7RCg/видео.html WN paint is way way thicker/firmer than BRI paint. @@WildCreates With reflection of sun parts and Making waves. Also Wild I’ve searched your page and I’ve been wanting to do a northern lights winter theme, can you do me a big favor and do a tutorial? Thanks a bunch wild!
Me, as a leftie who paints upside down, trying to figure out the angles. HAHA. Thank you for the tips, ESPECIALLY to leave that top edge alone when blending. BIG THUMBS UP for this video. 👍
Oh you lefties... I feel for ya on people teaching. I feel like I do a decent job of sharing my tips where it should make easy sense for lefties too :)
@@WildCreates Yes, the tips are absolutely wonderful. I find that physically flipping the canvas/paper 90 degrees or 180 degrees helps me get the angles that are much easier for right-handed people. The only real disadvantage I've found, as a lefty, is that 90% of ink + gel pens do not function properly, which is why I really prefer using art mediums with paintbrushes.
There is this easel I am trying to get that free rotates while holding your canvas. would be great for someone like your. Hopefully I will get to make a video on it.

Thanks man for the beginner tips, boy I need them, hopeless at painting clouds. By the way can you suggest a cheaper brand of bristle brush? I have a tough time tracking down some place that sells bristle brushes here in South Australia. It's all synthetic these days and they don't do the job. Something a little less expensive than a Bob Ross 2" and 1" brush. I just don't have that kind of money. I have to save up or sell something each time I want to buy more paints. I'm not complaining, I'm having so much fun learning from you and Bob. Thanks Wild Creates
I just released a starter packet that you can download that shows and goes over best affordable starter supplies. The download has localizing links in it should take you to supplies located in your country or region. Give it a go: payhip.com/b/qzxK1
Hey thanks for the starter pack, well received. Q. do you have any issues with your bristle brushes in terms of the corners, when you're blending, going all different directions? When I watch you or Bob Ross blend with say a 2" brush, the corner looks like it all stays together rather than splaying out. Is that what it's supposed to do?
OK so that is all about 2 things: - Makes sure you clean your brushes well and use conditioner to shape them. This will help keep the bristles clean and straight allowing them to be closer together. Attached is a video on the conditioner I use: ruclips.net/video/gDaoXPk-nWQ/видео.html - You need to use a lot more paint, when you saturate your brush with paint. The bristles will stick together more. I hope that helps.
I would love some help doing bob Ross style with acrylics? I've been doing it for awhile now and they come out good. I have trouble making a prominent foreground and adding details though.
@@WildCreates already had man and left likes. I had the day off and as I had ordered a bunch of paint and utensils I've been binging your channel all day

@@WildCreates hi Wild, yes, I'm Italian. I often use Maimeri's paints and I like them, but for the snow I Always used Bob's White Paint, so I'm curious about It, thanks 😊
Thank you so much for the sure thanks and glad I can help. Now that you have mastered clouds, you can move onto mountains which you can learn about here: ruclips.net/video/iaLLJrklgbU/видео.html
To be honest it doesn't mater... The more free and lose you can be with it, the better results you have. People over think it. Just go at it, you will be amazed at the clouds you can make when you follow this video 💪
This is astonishingly difficult. If the white paint is too thin you’re not covering the blue. Too thick and pulling the two-inch brush leaves bristle marks. At least, at the lightest I could pull the brush. Still, the detailed discussions are much appreciated.
If it was easy, everyone could do it ha ha ha. You are not wrong... it can be very challenging BUT I know you can do it. As dumb as it sounds, you just need to practice it over and over. Watch the video again and again in steps and do 1 full painting that is just clouds. Do 1 cloud at a time... each cloud you do will be better and better... then it will start to click.
Yes you can - I personally reccomend you work in stages though due to the shorter drying time. Take a look at the video below to see some tips on advice on how to do it with acrylics: ruclips.net/video/LFqd-jj1lQ8/видео.html
That's hard to answer because everyone has a different style and what will feel comfortable to them. Check out my video that drops tomorrow morning. In that video I talk about brushes and canvases :)
Glad this video could help you out. Now you can move onto the next step which is mountains... which you can see here: ruclips.net/video/iaLLJrklgbU/видео.html Happy painting!
Yes but you will have to work a little quicker and add a little medium to your paint to keep it wet. Or you can see how I do it with acrylics here: ruclips.net/video/-L3vH5lG3RI/видео.html
Two minutes in and I am already appreciating the level of detail he's going into. Nothing irritates me more than overly simplified and over casual tutorials.

WN paint is way way thicker/firmer than BRI paint. When it comes to blending lightly... use a smaller brush till your hands and arm develop muscle memory for the light touch. Then swap over to a bigger brush :)
You were right - this was excellent!
Thanks buddy - glad you think so.
Thank you for this tutorial, can this be done on water color paper and if so can you show us how.
Yes you can! Just apply a layer of gesso first.
This was extremely helpful very great explanation and breaking it down! I would like if you did a water and ocean waves tutorial please! Thanks a bunch Wild
Great suggestion!
What parts of water and waves do you struggle with?
@@WildCreates With reflection of sun parts and Making waves. Also Wild I’ve searched your page and I’ve been wanting to do a northern lights winter theme, can you do me a big favor and do a tutorial? Thanks a bunch wild!

I have one on mountains too that is an absolute banger... feel free to check it out: ruclips.net/video/iaLLJrklgbU/видео.html
This is d best vdo i hv evr seen about clouds

Thank you very much! Wonderful contents as always

Great tutorial as always.

Give it a go:
payhip.com/b/qzxK1
Hey thanks for the starter pack, well received. Q. do you have any issues with your bristle brushes in terms of the corners, when you're blending, going all different directions? When I watch you or Bob Ross blend with say a 2" brush, the corner looks like it all stays together rather than splaying out. Is that what it's supposed to do?
OK so that is all about 2 things:
- Makes sure you clean your brushes well and use conditioner to shape them. This will help keep the bristles clean and straight allowing them to be closer together. Attached is a video on the conditioner I use: ruclips.net/video/gDaoXPk-nWQ/видео.html
- You need to use a lot more paint, when you saturate your brush with paint. The bristles will stick together more.
I hope that helps.

Hi Wild 😊 Thanks for your advices. Do you think that Maimeri's white paint is firm as the original Bob's white and Winsor & Newton's white paint?
I am not familiar with that brand - On some research it looks like an Italian make. Are you in that region?
@@WildCreates hi Wild, yes, I'm Italian. I often use Maimeri's paints and I like them, but for the snow I Always used Bob's White Paint, so I'm curious about It, thanks 😊

Do you " whip those eggs", with the brush, going left to right, or right to left, or does it matter??
To be honest it doesn't mater... The more free and lose you can be with it, the better results you have.
People over think it. Just go at it, you will be amazed at the clouds you can make when you follow this video 💪
Can you do a tutorial on water?
I will add it to the list.

The best way to paint clouds? Use acrylic paint 😂 Anytime I use white oil, it just mixes with the blue immediately and looks like crap.
Watch the steps where I talk about this very thing. I show you how to minimize picking up the blue underneath.
Wait until the sky drys😊
Use water mixable oils. I just started using them. They're legit oils that have an emulsifier in it. No more terps to clean up. Water and a little soap and ur done
As Bob y sued to say one hair and some hair😊
its all about having that soft touch!
Tress I stink on trees
I will add it to the list
Me: after watching Bob Ross doc and them saying thinner was likely cause of cancer.. I'm good.
The good news for us painters today, is there are a lot more safer materials to use.
I use acrylics for the same techniques as oil. Water based and safe as watercolour.
+++++++++++
