      Yes it was free for ~5 years so hopefully everyone took advantage of that, but moving forward it will be $1.99 for a month's access to part 2. Part 1 will stay free so that either way, you will still be able to get started in the right direction. Quality tutorials take a lot of time, work, and energy - I believe that this price is more than fair and is significantly lower than anyone else on RUclips that I have seen. • @GregLowmanArt
      @GregLowmanArt  4 года назад

      Yes it could be done by just using water as a thinner, but the retardant certainly helps with the blending.

    What a great video. I have painted this painting and it looks good except I made the gray too dark - I'm giving it another go today. Question: Do you allow the blue background to dry before beginning to paint the clouds? I've found the blue paint mixes with the gray and white unless I allow the background to dry completely. Thanks!

    Greg, i am getting pretty good results with acrylic, should i not even bother trying oils....if it aint broke dont fix it....or is there a level you get to with acrylic and you realize maybe i can even take it a small step further with oils....

    • @GregLowmanArt
      @GregLowmanArt  Год назад

      That's great and I wouldn't expect a big level-up, but they're worth trying out if you want to work on something w/ a lot of blending (mist, water, etc.). They stay wet for a long time and it makes that much easier. When it comes to details, clean lines, and brighter colors I prefer acrylics. Just depends on the subject really.

    Do you keep doing l dipping your brush in the flow and water each time you load the brush with paint! Or just at the start with each colour?

    • @GregLowmanArt
      @GregLowmanArt  3 года назад +1

      Yes, I usually dip the brush in flow aid and water before putting on the main/different colors. Once the bulk of the cloud shape/color has been applied, I used a scrambler brush and break up/soften the edges while it dries by making small circles. This will give you the puffy/wispy effect.

    Even with retarder, you have to work v fast before the paint is too dry to blend.

    When I mix my blue and white they turn like more of a violet and they don't really turn that exact shade of blue so what else can I use

    • @GregLowmanArt
      @GregLowmanArt  4 года назад

      Hmm shouldn't turn violet on you unless you are mixing blue and red. Try phthalocyanine blue and titanium white - that pair seems to give the best/brightest blues for skies.
