Hi everyone! Thanks for watching this cloud tutorial 😊 here’s a few more you may find helpful ruclips.net/video/xgNrOWebGgw/видео.html ruclips.net/video/mBckBH3u7Ao/видео.html
My art professor in college used to make fun of my clouds with me. I could never get them down!!! This has CHANGED MY LIFE. I love clouds, I love creating beautiful skies. This has been such a game changer! Thank you💕
I don't know what's more beautiful the clouds that you painted or the fact that you have responded to every single one of your comments. Nobody does that! You are truly gifted! I've been photographing clouds for quite a few years but have always wanted to paint them as well and never thought I could. You have inspired me to give it a try. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
My first attempt this morning at making clouds, I followed your tutorial, although mine does not look as professional as your because I am a beginner, it actually came out fantastic, almost gave up on painting all together, you’re a fantastic teacher don’t stop lol
Colours: White- I used titanium Blue - I used phthalo blue Black- I used mars black Light Blue Violet - optional Brushes: purchase my brush set here: www.craftamo.com/products/joni-young-x-craftamo #50 filbert #9 filbert #2 filbert #2 liner (optional) #10 flat brush (for sun rays- optional)
I’ve learned, the first steps to painting clouds, (or anything for that matter), is getting over the fear of painting them! You have to LOVE how to learn how to paint them! “Hate” is a very strong emotion which can prevent you from ever being successful at painting! If you “hate” painting them, this means you probably hate “practicing” how to paint them too, which is the ONLY way to get better! I know, because I was YOU several years ago! Just keep watching videos, & learning different techniques, until you find what works best for you, then Practice, Practice, Practice!
Thank you! I've struggled through more than a few videos on cloud painting and ended up not satisfied with my results but your teaching style has me creating really beautiful realistic looking clouds. The concept just clicked in the way that you taught. Now... I've got to conquer stormy oceans but you've given me confidence to forge ahead. Forever grateful!
I am quite excited to see the work you are doing here and even more excited to give it a try. When a good teacher teaches, the student learns. I love you style of teaching because you put it all out there. Thank you for being so giving of your time & talents!! What a good person!!!
I really appreciate your way of teaching, the relaxing tone of voice inspires me. I'm 70. Now retired and trying to learn how to paint with videos. Please include me for future classes.
@ginag5473. Hey gin my name is Jesse and 27. And I use to have epilepsy. But God heal me from epilepsy when he touches my heart ❤️🔥❤️🩹. And know I’m completely heal when I was church if he can do it to me he can do it you I will keep you in my prayers Jesus love you
This is the first realistic cloud tutorial I have ever seen! I've wanted to paint clouds for years, but have been waiting.....for you!!! Thank you!!!!!
Joni, I must say these clouds ☁️ are so real life like. This is so amazing 🤩 I’m just flabbergasted.Thank you for your time. This has been so informative.
I’m so happy to have found you!!! Immediate follower……I have tried all day to make clouds…..went through 8 canvases…….tomorrow is another day……mercy me, beautiful!!
This is absolutely amazing and very relaxing to watch you paint 🎨 your beautiful creativity is just stunning I enjoyed watching the making of clouds! keep sharing and stay blessed and happy
On your website you have an art piece called how to paint irises. I was thinking about the background which looked like a beige color. I'm trying to create a beige sky with turquoise and white clouds. Can you please help me with that idea 💡 🙏
What an amazing artist you are!! Your style of painting, the beauty of the clouds and your polite voice took me into a meditative mode for half an hour. Big fan Madam.....painting for me is a divine thing.....it's my hobby......I am going to binge watch your videos. Thank you for sharing your talent with us. I am a subscriber 😀
That is so amazing!!! I have struggled with clouds!! You make it look easy… I have always looked to the clouds and see faces and I saw quite a few in this painting!! Thank you!!! I’m going to give this a try!!!
This was so brilliant & amazing!!!🤩👏 never seen such a simple, uncomplicated way to paint clouds!! Thank you so much for sharing your abundant talent! 🥰🙏🙏🙏
🇨🇵🇨🇵🇨🇵👋Hello Joni I am always in awe of your ease in painting, everything is delicate, you arouse emotion in your paintings, I always watch your videos and I learn a lot, I even managed to do the dragon. canvas before starting? thank you Joni for offering us your passion, see you soon, can't wait to do this canvas and see the following ones🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🌈🌈🥳👍🎨🖼🖼👍🙏
I'm in love with this painting, painting technique, your teaching...all in all, hands down one of the best painting videos I've ever come across! Thank you so much for explaining so well, you made it seem so easy and doable.
This will be my next effort. This is actually the painting that started it all for me watching you. I remember thinking I could never do that….nowI I think I can. Thanks Joni.
My mum always said my head was in the clouds. Been wanting to paint them and watched too many videos. But I think I might be able to use your easy to understand techniques and try. Thanks a bunch and for sharing your talent!
Hi I know this tutorial is a yr old , I just came across it ! I really like this technique it’s the best lesson I’ve seen and heard .. I’m going to practice this on a smaller canvas I currently only have small tubes of paint to work with ., can’t wait to play ! Thankyou !!
C'è stato un momento, verso metà video che le nuvole mi piacevano di più. Talvolta più si tocca e ritocca un dipinto più si finisce col rovinarlo. A metà lavoro aveva già un bellissimo gioco di chiaroscuro. Comunque sei brava!
Yes it's amazingly beautiful technique. QQQ question is a medium slow drying used ? I really appreciate the tutorial and your channel thank you very much. I've been so wanting to learn how to use the brush to make these puffy dramatic clouds now I can tone them down to a wispy Sky to a thunderous sky. ⛈ also for a fun option, paint a cookie monster in the clouds ⛅😀😎atmospheric!!
Im going to be painted a large canvas of sky eith clouds for my sister. I've never osinted on such a large canvas. So im feeling a little bit intimidated. How can i keep the sky from drying to fast so i can blend it together? Do i use extender thin or something else? Please help😊
You can wet your canvas first, I use a spray bottle and set to fine mist. Also mist your palette to keep your paints from drying out. A slow drying medium is also another option 😊 Have fun!!
I am not sure about acrilyc but "any white"? Titanium white is opaque, lead or cremnitz white is transparent, zink white is very transparent. They are normally used for different things. Titanium will overpower weaker pigments.
akkkk help!when you put your white on the canvas it looks white but mine looks more like a smudge on the canvas with the dark coming through. I'm using Titanium white from liquitex. what am I doing wrong. I'm not getting the highlights but just a blob. You have nice fluffy clouds and I have blob. What can you suggest?
Lovely looking clouds and thanks for the tutorial. I am starting my journey in acrylic painting and loved that you have so many great tutorials. I was an oil painter for many years but had to give it up because of becoming very allergic to the products I was using. But, I miss painting so much, and am going to give acrylics a good try!!! The one thing (and I certainly don't mean this in an insulting way at all...I know you are a fantastic painter) however; I personally liked the clouds better before you took the liner brush and did the curly cues or half cues!!! Just my own opinion, and I may be the only one on earth that feels that way~~! LOL!!! but, besides that, loved this demo and have saved it for future reference for sure and now I am off to watch other videos of yours as I really think you are great!!!
GREETINGS AND BLESSINGS FROM DALLAS TEXAS USA 🇺🇸 THIS PAST WEEKEND I FELT LIKE LISTENING TO BIG BAND MUSIC SO I WENT SEARCHING AND I CAME UPON A GLENN MILLER ALBUM COVER THAT I LOVED, THE BACKGROUND WAS PAINTED IN VARIOUS SHADES OF BLUE BUT WHAT CAUGHT MY ATTENTION WAS THE WOOLY LAMB LIKE CLOUDS. NOW I HAVE ALREADY PAINTED THE BACKGROUND BUT I AM HAVING TROUBLE PAINTING THE CLOUDS SO I WENT SEARCHING FOR CLOUD TUTORIALS AND YOUR SITE POPPED UP FIRST. I WATCHED YOUR WHOLE VIDEO ...I ENJOYED THE LESSON. ...I AM SLEEPY NOW BUT I WILL CHECK YOUR PLAYLIST LATER ON TODAY FOR OTHER CLOUD TUTORIALS HOPEFULLY I WILL FIND SOMETHING SIMILAR AS TO THE ALBUM COVER.... ANYWAY. I AM SUBSCRIBING. THANK YOU.
This simple but so effective tutorial is fantastic! The clouds are so gorgeous and came to life so quickly. I look forward to trying this myself! I wanted to watch first which really helps before I do it myself. Thank you!
Will this technique work on glass? I am a beginner and my "canvas" is glass: wine bottles, old candle jars, drinking glasses, basically any kind of glass I can get my hands on. I am in hospice at home, and my nurse this is awesome for me to be doing. Sorry I am oversharing. Thanks.
Hi Nancy, same technique applies but it is harder to paint and blend on waterproof surfaces I’ve found. The paint keeps moving around because it can’t soak into the canvas, you may want to use oil or enamel for those plastic and glass surfaces as well, acrylic will scratch and fall off 😉🎨😊
So happy I came across this tutorial, it is just amazing! The best I have seen, I will have to try your technique. I love the fact that I can see a face in the clouds!
Beautiful, these clouds would look perfect on a model railroad or diorama background, much better than the background sheets you can buy from model shops. Would the technique you showed us work on a long sheet of cardboard as opposed to a canvas?

I’ve always had problems trying to paint any form of cloud. This is the best video I’ve ever seen demonstrating and explaining the various techniques. Thank you so much x
Quedo muy bien la nube..casi a la perfeccion, valoro sus artes en la pintura, me gusta mucho pintar...y admiro a los maestro que pintan...saludos desde Ecuador....
Joni I just came across this video and let me tell you, if I would have skipped any part of it I would have missed how by layering, you created such a beautiful piece. Thank you so so much. By chance could you show us this in black and white only? Wow I love this so much. It looks like oil! Great job Joni!!
I know i am watching this a year or so later, but i just found your channel yesterday. You are am amazing artist 🎨 ❤️ The clouds are perfect!!! And you make it look so easy that I ( 33:1533:15 almost) think i can do it. I'm going to give it a try. I need more and different brushes, I know. But, I am excited to start painting again! THANK YOU SO MUCH, JONI, FOR THE INSPIRATION!!! Sending hugs and love from North Carolina, USA 🇺🇸 ❤️
Do you let the canvas completely dry or is it still somewhat wet when painting in the clouds? When I try to paint wet on wet the white immediately fades away into the sky😅
Thank you very much for letting me see how you paint and explained how you do it ,the other videos just show a fast pace that is hard to understand how they paint they don't say anything just playing stupid music while they paint thank you for this
I'm new to acrylics and tried painting a modest cloud yesterday, it turned out quite lumpy so to speak. But this is a great tutorial, I'll give it another go following along
Ok, I'm doing your clouds tutorial. I was over on your "tropical island" tutorial. Different cloud techniques altogether. When I was on the tropical island, my clouds just blended/bleed into the blue and the clouds were mushy blue and not white. or maybe they were too wet. Anyway, I'm hoping to learn how to paint your clouds because I love them! Perhaps this one will do the trick! They are gorgeous.

Joni I just came across this video and let me tell you, if I would have skipped any part of it I would have missed how by layering, you created such a beautiful piece. Thank you so so much. By chance could you show us this in black and white only?
Wow I love this so much. It looks like oil! Great job Joni!!
Thanks Lissa, it’s funny you requested a white background as I just finished one similar for my other channel! Stay tuned
I know i am watching this a year or so later, but i just found your channel yesterday. You are am amazing artist 🎨 ❤️
The clouds are perfect!!! And you make it look so easy that I ( 33:15 33:15 almost) think i can do it. I'm going to give it a try. I need more and different brushes, I know. But, I am excited to start painting again!
THANK YOU SO MUCH, JONI, FOR THE INSPIRATION!!!
Sending hugs and love from North Carolina, USA 🇺🇸 ❤️

Interesante, pero solo trato de hablar el español.
1 question, I noticed you are left handed-as I am. do follow starting right side going left as to not smudge?
David
I always recommend doing what feels most natural and comfortable 👍

I just can't thank you enough for sharing this. I'm an artist myself. At the age of 51 . I've been doing this for
Im a little confused. Where is the light source coming from? Lovely painting!
Thanks Phyllis, it’s coming from behind and peaking through
Thank you. Im so blockin myself right now.
Glad this was helpful! I hate those artist blocks, we all get them time to time.. 😉
Can you tell me what colors I could use for the background to give it a sunset cloud feel? I LOVE and wanna recreate this.
Here you go! My sunset cloud version ruclips.net/video/T7axGHXgdeI/видео.html
So peaceful and relaxing! Thank you ❤
Do you let the canvas completely dry or is it still somewhat wet when painting in the clouds? When I try to paint wet on wet the white immediately fades away into the sky😅
It should b dry completely I guess.... I've also done alot of mistakes n learn eventually 😂
Amazing
Thanks Delfi!
Do you think shadowing is necessary if I use the same technique as you did but with a more blue/purple/pink/yellow sky? Thank you! ☺️
Love it. Definitely this will help me when I do my next cloud thank you.
Glad it helped!
LA PINTURA DE TUS NUBES SON HERMOSAS, ALLI VEO CUATRO CARAS REFERENTE HUMANOS . tres de niños y un adulto que esta acostado frente a kos tres niños

Thanks Pedro 😊
Thank you very much for letting me see how you paint and explained how you do it ,the other videos just show a fast pace that is hard to understand how they paint they don't say anything just playing stupid music while they paint thank you for this
You’re welcome, thanks for watching Earl 😊
What brand of paint do you use? I can’t find light blue violet
Light blue violet by Liquitex basics, heavy bodied acrylics
Vilken mäktig känsla för att uppleva din undervisning om att måla moln Mästaren ❤❤❤
Thanks very much Hildegard 😊
I'm new to acrylics and tried painting a modest cloud yesterday, it turned out quite lumpy so to speak. But this is a great tutorial, I'll give it another go following along
Thanks! Hope it helps
This is the best tutorial I ever watched. I have really learned from this tutorial .thank you very much ❤👩🎨👩🎨
Wow! Thanks 🙏
I loved it! Very beautiful! Kisses from Brazil!!!
Thanks!
Hello jony🎉🎉 so beautiful and lovely my dear 🎉❤
Thank you so much 🤗
Ok, I'm doing your clouds tutorial.
Hi Gayle, you’ll learn a ton with this one! It’s helped so many paint clouds is an easy way🤗
