    Lol, thanks man, I take that as a complement since the goal of the video is to show people who do not know anything how to do it! Have the best day ever!

    THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO! I have looked up literally hundreds of videos on earthships, hydroponics, wetland simulation, aquaponics, you name it, I searched it trying to find info, or the how to, on the planter cells in the earthships. Nothing has come close to showing me or explaining the hows and whys. Thanks again for the upload. It is now saved as one of my favs!

    Awesome video! Thanks so much! Is there any source of information on the pipe diameters used in the biocells available?

    • @solutionera
      @solutionera  4 года назад

      Thanks! The diameters are 3 inches for the principal pipes dans 2 inches for secondary pipes.

    The drain pipes that feed the standpipes are only 2 inches above the bottom of the planter, aren't you worried about the water flowing back up the drain pipes into the bathrooms?

    Is 12" enough room for the roots of a banana?

    • @solutionera
      @solutionera  3 года назад +1

      It's a very good question! Since we are no experts in banana culture, I would refer you to this article : www.tropicalpermaculture.com/growing-bananas.html

    Why just drop gravel in after taking all that precaution via not wearing shoes?

    EPDM ? Not sure what that means.

    • @solutionera
      @solutionera  4 года назад

      éthylène-propylène-diène monomère, it's a type of elastomer :)

    The pea moss bag, insulation, in the water .... was a real shitty job. Can't you just do a proper box and put the moss in it ?

    Spray foam is NOT waterproof.

    • @solutionera
      @solutionera  2 года назад +1

      True, spray foam is not waterproof and shouldn't be used as a waterproofing agent. The goal and lack of resources sometimes justify the means, but keep in mind that earthships are experimental buildings and should be seen as such: prototypes.

    • @reneemm6519
      @reneemm6519 2 года назад

      Would it not be an idea to fill the gap of the peat moss from the outside so the EPDM presses against the moss bags? Then you don't need insulation or spray foam inside.

    • @jay-rus4437
      @jay-rus4437 2 года назад

      @@reneemm6519 ….that could possibly work, but still wouldn’t be entirely waterproof. They really need to come up with a better system for this specific stage. Ive been in civil engineering, project management, and for the past 8 years a general contractor. Total years in the field has now been 27. Its so common that I see people using spray foam as some type of sealant, which it is not. It is simply an insulator. You cannot use it to seal something off that is directly exposed to the elements. It is great for filling gaps between framing and windows or doors etc, prior to installing tyvek and then siding.

    • @jay-rus4437

      @@solutionera ….yes, agreed. We have even made a trip from Tulsa to the Taos area to look at the earthship construction. We stayed in one for three days while there. We are looking at a modified version to build, which I have been designing for some time now. With all of that said, prototype should not be a justification for using methods that are already known to be incorrect for a particular application. How are we to grow in knowledge of what we do if in our efforts to create new things we simply disregard the knowledge that has already been gained previously. Just my .02
