Seen his little discreet shows twice.. the second time I asked his concert promoter by email if he can sing Let Me Be The One for me and my fiance as I was going to purpose at the concert that night..and he DID!! My wife eyes were filled with tears...He doesn't like doing wedding songs but he did ti for us. I was really happy...class act guy!
OMG that must have been amazing!!! Props to you for making that happen!!! I bet your fiancee/wife was completely blown away!! If that were to EVER happen to me = in a world of fantasy (see what I did there?) I can't imagine what the bigger thrill would be- being proposed to, or having Rik sing Let Me Be The One in relation to what's happening!!
God this man was my high school 82-86 a generation .. Man !! No one gives the whole band the credit !! Love them , bought every cassette , and album !! Love you rikk!!!
I was at this show in Londonderry at the old Goose before the remodel...I even met & hung with Rik & Dave Dunlop...both fine men and awesome role models for a music career...even got both to sign my Ovation Accoustic I have at one of these gigs...my prize possession...
Rik's talents are SO underrated! He deserves more recognition than he's gotten, for sure! I've loved his music since around 1979, and yes, I loved the way he looked in that red jumpsuit! LOL What girl didn't? ;-) He's still the bomb, in my eyes! And has a great sense of humor! :-)
Back in the early 80's as a teenager I use to drive my Guitar teacher nuts wanting to learn Triumph music. Rik Emmett is a Guitar hero to me...He has given me 30 plus years of enjoyment playing his music.
Been a fan for so long what an awesome performer artist guitarist. When he sings and plays I still get chills I'm just sad I didn't get to see him back in the day. But being a guitarist myself I am super envious of his talent what an awesome talent he is. Keep on keeping on sir rik!!!
Super sweet soul does this man have! Met him doing a Yamaha clinic, saw him many times live yet never knew the man...enigma indeed. I believe he's an angel to teach us patience and what lies inside your soul...whatever that may be. His angelic presence lets us know that we're able to do the things we want to do in life. He inspired me to become a musician as well in the early 70's Blessed be he named Rik Emmett
He hasnt lost anything....(AL PACINO)....I think he just settled into himself and doesnt give a S*&% what people say...people like you. He freaken ROCKS....I would love to do that when I am his age.....he is living the dream.
Actually for the past several years he has been a music professor at Humber college in Toronto which is why now most of his live shows are in the Northeast anf Great Lakes region creativearts.humber.ca/faculty/rik-emmett.html
One of my first concerts, I remember how good I felt when listing to Triumph. After checking out US FESTIVAL vids I now know why I liked Triumph so much, other than they Rock! Rik is connected to Source big time, straight from the heart, I'm grateful to have lived in the same time as Triumph! Thank you Triumph Thank you Rik where ever you are.
Priceless! I am so glad I got to grow up with your music. You have so much talent and you love what you do you can clearly see that please don’t ever give up!
Triumph was the first rock band a friend of mine turned me on to in fifth grade (~1982) and Rik Emmet is easily one of my biggest guitar influences. What a thrill it is to see him continuing to play so flawlessly today!
That man has a lot of miles on those pipes. The fact he can still sing and needs to do it a whole step down to still hit the notes is testament to his badassery
Thanks a lot for posting this! My real guitar wizard who forced me to pick up my own electric guitar and to learn to play it. I write small verses as well. Rik, many thanks for everything! You remain to be my own guitar hero. I loved your musicanship and personality in TRIUMPH and solo way over 30 years... With love from Russia...
era??? You mean one of the best of all time!! Think about it, since Rock has started, I bet you can count on one hand the number of 3man bands that are worthy of being great!! Willing to bet, Triumph makes that list!!
Yes. Triumph and Rush were the ultimate power trios of the 70's and 80's. And they both live a short 1 hour drive away from me in Toronto. Meeting Rush was one of the best memories I have.
The first concert I ever went to was the Thunder Seven tour when you came to Sudbury, Ontario. I thought I would never hear anything more beautiful than when you played Midsummer's Daydream and I think that's still true today. Thanks for the memories that live on even now. . I went to university with someone who told me they were your cousin. We called him Stormin' Norman but I honestly don't remember his last name. He has very curly strawberry blonde hair. Sound like someone you know?
I'm sorry, but I was in love with Rick Emmett in the 80's - WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO HIM??? a) No longer a rocker, b) looks like a TV dad, c) short hair, d) VEST??? REALLY???? I'm devastated and all my fantasies are blown to hell!
I have seen, Van Halen, The Who, The Stones, Ozzy, Def Leopard just to name a few, The Stage Show Triumph put on was by far the best I have ever seen. That Man, Rik Emmett is bar none, live, the best sounding guitarist of them all in my opinion...Wow was he great live!
I’ve seen all those that you have mentioned Joseph, and I have always said the same. The laser and pyrotechnic live show that Triumph put on back in the day was by far the best live show going. To this day I still have not seen a better live show.....
Rik Emmett, not only a Canadian eh, but great songwriter, excellent singer/vocalist, and in my personal Top 10 of fave guitar players. Rock on Sir Emmett!!
Ive always thought Rick Emmett was in that 'Most Underrated" guitarist category for years. He Joins 'my' list of Frank Hannon and Tommy Skeoch of Tesla and Scott Gorman, Gary Moore and Brian Robertson of Thin Lizzy. Just phenominal guitarists all with an insane talent to play and write great tunes...
Maxharddrive64 Dude, how can you even whisper this guys name in the same sentence as those other scrubs. Puh-lease. Shake yourself. Rick Emmet our classes them by miles,,,,,,,check that, Light Years.
He looks like my accountant! Amazing. Most rock stars never end up like normal people. Most are head fucked and the "party" lifestyle is all they ever know. Not this guy. Pure talent, and a great person underneath!
Didn't know Rik was such a comedian!! Anyway, this is pretty cool......saw Triumph live at the Checkerdome here in STL back in 1983..........good times for sure!
I absolutely LOVED that red jumpsuit!!! I've loved this man for as long as I can remember-- his music/lyrics/personna have been forever seared into my heart.... Happy Birthday Rik!!!
There is not one bad thing I can say about Rik but there’s a lot of great things I can say not only does he have a excellent voice Plays the guitar like no body I’ve ever seen very funny and very humble. And very easy on the eyes He is just a very great talent. And I love him. Keep making magic!!!!! Your # 1 fan forever!

Emmett's voice hasn't changed at all after all these years. I saw Triumph back in 83' US Festival....what a great show indeed.
Superb guitarist and vocalist.
Lets hear how he sings Hold on ...
God this man was my high school 82-86 a generation .. Man !! No one gives the whole band the credit !! Love them , bought every cassette , and album !! Love you rikk!!!

Amazing as usual. Just fantastic.
I totally agree with you!!!!!!
Not only a great guitarist, but an unbelievable singer, as well!
He still has his voice, This guy is amazing!!!!!! Most guys loose their voices, not him. He's got it all.
🤘🏻🤘🏻🌹🎸
Back in the early 80's as a teenager I use to drive my Guitar teacher nuts wanting to learn Triumph music. Rik Emmett is a Guitar hero to me...He has given me 30 plus years of enjoyment playing his music.
Woooaaa! This is a talent from the late 70' early 80's that somehow got passed me. You are a great, great talent, Rik Rmmett!
Been a fan for so long what an awesome performer artist guitarist. When he sings and plays I still get chills I'm just sad I didn't get to see him back in the day. But being a guitarist myself I am super envious of his talent what an awesome talent he is. Keep on keeping on sir rik!!!

He hasnt lost anything....(AL PACINO)....I think he just settled into himself and doesnt give a S*&% what people say...people like you.

Rik is such an enormous talent! Check out his vast library of work!

I’ve been trying to play Petite on the guitar for 35 years and I still screw it up every time I attempt it. :/
Old Rik Emmett looks a lot like Lee Majors. Still a damn fine picker!
why he is my idol 6:32
This man is the best!
godin?
petite has japanese anime movie feeling...
I wonder if he knew king Ed.
I envy Dunlop who gets to play next to the most incredible guitar player every night
Dave is a star himself! If DD was doing a solo show I would go for sure! Check out his solo effort; Monarch Girl & see for yourself....
Play man
Not suitable for modern audiences in 2024....
Poor man's Rush that's not a insult just the opposite they are the bomb 💣
I have seen, Van Halen, The Who, The Stones, Ozzy, Def Leopard just to name a few, The Stage Show Triumph put on was by far the best I have ever seen. That Man, Rik Emmett is bar none, live, the best sounding guitarist of them all in my opinion...Wow was he great live!
Saw them in ‘83. Amazing show.

Seen them with Ozzy and Van Halen at the US Festival. 83'.
Oh hell yes!!!
Rik Emmett, not only a Canadian eh, but great songwriter, excellent singer/vocalist,
and in my personal Top 10 of fave guitar players. Rock on Sir Emmett!!
Rik always seemed underrated and never got the credit he truly deserved as a guitar player. Triumph was one of the best 3-man bands of its era.
Ive always thought Rick Emmett was in that 'Most Underrated" guitarist category for years. He Joins 'my' list of Frank Hannon and Tommy Skeoch of Tesla and Scott Gorman, Gary Moore and Brian Robertson of Thin Lizzy. Voice has held up pretty damned well.
I used to love to go to Triumph's concerts when they first started out and always got up close too the stage, what great times and concerts
He looks like my accountant! Amazing. Most rock stars never end up like normal people. Most are head fucked and the "party" lifestyle is all they ever know. Not this guy. Pure talent, and a great person underneath!
Awesome Rik! One of the first Great Canadian Rock bands I ever saw, great concert! You still have it, in everyway!
amazing, love the guitar work (especially the classically trained stuff) and the voice is still top shelf.
Man its just a beautiful thing that we have ALL OF TRIUMPH still playing and really keeping fans engaged !!
Didn't know Rik was such a comedian!! Anyway, this is pretty cool......saw Triumph live at the Checkerdome here in STL back in 1983..........good times for sure!
