My favorite song off of Allied Forces. So true about the state of affairs lately! Many songs by Triumph are very philosophical and I can relate as I consider myself a philosophical person!
Music taste changes as we move on in life , some bands you carry forever , others you look back and think how did I ever get attached. Either way they are all building blocks to our modern tastes. Triumph was my absolute musical connection in the 80' s loved them , still have a strong connection. Ordinary man resonated on so many levels with me . Allied forces is a fantastic album. Triumph are a intrical block in the foundation of my musical taste today . Never hit the heights they should have here in Australia but certainly carved my musical taste .
Always been a fan since I was a kid. My uncle turned me on to Triumph. maybe with everything getting better. Might try to see some bands this year along the water.
"Ordinary Man" Look in the mirror tell me what do you see Or can you lie to yourself like you're lyin' to me Do you fall asleep real easy feelin' justified and right Or do you wake up feelin' empty in the middle of the night You want to think you're different, but you know you never can You're just another ordinary man Hey politician, can't believe a word you say Almighty media, whose truth d'you serve today? Watchdog of justice, who keeps their eye on you? Con man, song in hand, who you singin' to? The more I get to see, the less I understand I'm just another ordinary man [CHORUS:] Ordinary man Ordinary man Just another ordinary man Comes a time to take a stand No rest for the wicked - they get it while they can The preachers and the teachers and your local Congressman Everybody plays the game they played since time began Lawyers and accountant - your media man Everybody's talkin' but nothin's gettin' said You're looking for the truth you better look inside your head I see the flash of lightnin' I hear the thunder roll A hungry knife, a slice of life It cuts another soul Power finds a way to those who take a stand Stand up ordinary man Once I thought the truth was gonna set me free But now I feel the chains of its responsibility I will not be a puppet I cannot play it safe I'll give myself away with a blind and simple faith I'm just the same as you I just do the best I can That's the only answer...for an ordinary man [CHORUS] No such thing as easy answers You play to win and you take your chances [CHORUS] Here's to health, here's to wealth May you never doubt yourself
Who rips on the guys in the band!? You know if they’re in Rik’s band they’re top notch. Or just watch and listen and come to same conclusion Such a special song. FTGF/Ordinary Man back to back off of Allied Forces is Rik’s tour de force and definitely got this then-12year old thinking back in the day. There is a clip of Rik doing this in ‘85 by himself with backing tracks at a Yamaha guitar promo thing. Young Rik is just searing.
He said Triumph never played this song live. This song is philosophical about all the dishonest things that have happened in the world! This song was wrote in 1981 and even now is more messed up!
They also never played “Just a Game” which is hard to believe because it is one of their best songs. I saw him do this acoustic in a little club in NYC.
This is such a great song from an incredible musician. Rik belongs on everyone's short list of all time great guitar players
Top 3.... Jimmy Page then Him or David Gilmore at #2 .... but those are band likes... if based on musicianship alone... #1
He is still my favorite, though I love Sully Erna, Slash, Rudy Schenker and Phil Collen (and Brian May)
Wheres the middle?
This is my all-time favorite Triumph song!
Definitely one of the finest musicians out there ...
He needs to be in the R&R HOF
💯
I agree - but unfortunately it will never happen. The HOF sucks.
Saw this on his 2017 tour.....freaking awesome
I saw Them in Seattle in November of 1981 as a "Rising Star Concert" at The Arena for $9.
Prophetic before its time in the 80s. TOTALLY RELEVANT TODAY. PAY ATTENTION TO THE WORLDI!!!!!!
My favorite song off of Allied Forces. So true about the state of affairs lately! Many songs by Triumph are very philosophical and I can relate as I consider myself a philosophical person!
Ric is The Greatest lead man in the history of music!
My oh My that beautiful tone😌
RIK STILL HAS IT!
✌🏻✌🏻🎸 🌹
great production guys! Rik's still got it! Solid beats from Paul Delong.

How awesome was Triumph? Here’s 4 guys trying to reproduce what I heard three play in 1982!
Always been a fan since I was a kid. My uncle turned me on to Triumph. maybe with everything getting better. Might try to see some bands this year along the water.
Great gig. Hanging backstage all night. Opened for him before. Dave was ripping that night.
"Ordinary Man"
Look in the mirror tell me what do you see
Or can you lie to yourself like you're lyin' to me
Do you fall asleep real easy feelin' justified and right
Or do you wake up feelin' empty in the middle of the night
You want to think you're different, but you know you never can
You're just another ordinary man
Hey politician, can't believe a word you say
Almighty media, whose truth d'you serve today?
Watchdog of justice, who keeps their eye on you?
Con man, song in hand, who you singin' to?
The more I get to see, the less I understand
I'm just another ordinary man
[CHORUS:]
Ordinary man
Ordinary man
Just another ordinary man
Comes a time to take a stand
No rest for the wicked - they get it while they can
The preachers and the teachers and your local Congressman
Everybody plays the game they played since time began
Lawyers and accountant - your media man
Everybody's talkin' but nothin's gettin' said
You're looking for the truth you better look inside your head
I see the flash of lightnin'
I hear the thunder roll
A hungry knife, a slice of life
It cuts another soul
Power finds a way to those who take a stand
Stand up ordinary man
Once I thought the truth was gonna set me free
But now I feel the chains of its responsibility
I will not be a puppet I cannot play it safe
I'll give myself away with a blind and simple faith
I'm just the same as you I just do the best I can
That's the only answer...for an ordinary man
[CHORUS]
No such thing as easy answers
You play to win and you take your chances
[CHORUS]
Here's to health, here's to wealth
May you never doubt yourself
💯
In my home town! Great show. as always. never disappointed
You are very lucky! Looks like it was a great night!!
Love Rick Emmit
Fly by UFO at 5:00 roughly. Listening to Rik and Dave's alien abilities on guitar it flew over for a closer look!
Dadgum drones anyway . . . . .
Hey that's Paul on drums! I'd recognize that Robin's Egg Blue Gretsch kit anywhere.
First! Great song and great version
Rik is far from ORDINARY, MAN
Rik
We come to these gigs to see YOU play guitar! (Not your hired hand)
Love ya
Love this tune
Low blow....no matter whose playing with him. Theres no reason to cut the hired hand down
Well ya but geez .....he can't do everything himself
It sucks that Rick isn't touring any more. :(
Born Saint mercy hospital! 1959
How true!
This song is SO PROPHETIC of the current administration in the U.S.A. !!!!!!!

Triumph was a 3 man band. Who's that fourth guy, and why is is even there???!!!
Love the song, second guitar could back off a bit.
He said Triumph never played this song live. This song is philosophical about all the dishonest things that have happened in the world! This song was wrote in 1981 and even now is more messed up!
The story goes that it was Gil Moore who convinced him to add it to his set, stated to Rik that it was the best song he'd ever written.
They also never played “Just a Game” which is hard to believe because it is one of their best songs. I saw him do this acoustic in a little club in NYC.
00:20 Guy is The Guy! 🎸
Don Henley stole a line from this song "The more i get to see the less i understand" changed it to "the more i know the less i understand"
Drummer thinks he's Neil Peart 🥺🥺
who's the other guitar player......Dunlap?
Triumph. Minus the I and h you have Trump. They both are patriots of today's 🌎!!!!!!
The second guitarist is way too loud.
The drummer thinks he's Neil Peart with the hat.
His name is Paul Delong and is a renowned session musician.
I look at it as a tribute to Neil by a fellow drummer.
Suit and turtle neck, really ric ?
if Rik is the shit'....
why is this cat playing all the solos..??
Hacked the song!
Why is that dude trying to look like the professor playing drums 😈
