Triumph was the first concert I ever bought a ticket for - Thunder Seven (Molly Hatchett was the opener). So good to see the band kicking ass 30 yrs later.
Hell yeah! When I was just beginning to play guitar I just idolized Rick and Triumph. Rick lays down some of the coolest licks and progressions you will ever see. And he hold so many awards for his guitar work and one of them was two major Canadian Jazz awards. A true musical genius.
+the 'stache My brothers name is Rick. I just so conditioned to spelling it that way..it was a typo...so got any thing else to add pal? if not then beat it jerk.
This is somebody you idolize. Not like. Not study. Idolize. Yet your excuse for not knowing how to spell his name correctly is "my brother has the same name, and I'm conditioned to spelling it that way?" LOL, seriously? One of my biggest influences on guitar growing up was Criss Oliva. My father's name is Chris. My Aunt's name is Chris. Yet, I never had trouble spelling his name because my family members had the same name, spelled differently. What a dumb excuse. And it was a typo....both times you misspelled it. Uh huh. Next thing you'll tell me you idolize "Jimmy" Hendrix and "Eddy" Van Halen, too, but can't spell their names correctly because you have cousins with the same first names, only they spell it differently. Whatever.
5:51 was an impressive note. Age destroyed his range (as it does with all singers) but his voice still sounds great. Not to mention how much his guitar skill has been refined. Such a shame this band never got the recognition they should have.
I love the triumph band I listened to them when I was in high school and used to listen to them on the Canadian channel even though I was living in the outskirts of Rochester New York great band
Just amazing! His name never comes up as guitarist but so underrated. Watch the Daryl's House video still has vocals! I did not even recognize him but just amazing... I sure miss those days but brings back great memories to see this. 🙂
I saw Rick & the boys play this song at Autzen Stadium , 83-84 maybe. He broke a string in middle of this solo & just kept playing out o tune & all, Phenomenal musicianship live...Love the greatest other power trio from the North
Been a huge fan since Thunder Seven. Rik is incredible guitarist/singer. Doesn't sound like sustained reunion is ever gonna happen. But moments like this give us hope Looking forward to documentary in 2020.
@@alarmfannh They added Rick Santers way back in the 80s, so they didn't play live as a 3 piece since the 70s AFAIK. Rush is amazing, but Triumph are great as well.
Terry Moxness I saw them a couple of times in the 80’s. Was at the Providence show when they filmed Follow Your Heart. Only three unless someone was playing offstage. No argument here, I will listen to Triumph AND Rush til I croak !
Yeah, they do sound kick ass. Finally, someone who knows how to tune, mic, and mix a live snare for heavyness. Im so tired of the "wafer thin" gayassed snapping.
yea, i remember triumph back in the day, i have to say they sound great, thats very fortunate, rare, awesome. at least everything great from the old days isn't gone for good, love triumph, keep rockin rik
Great show,. Great band,. grew up listening to Triumph. Many People don't fully appreciate how talented people have to be, to make a 3 piece Band work like they do. And I'd swear that looks like Joe Bonamassa on second Guitar. Wouldn't surprise Me,.. Seen Him sit in on several other Artist's/Band's performances. Another truly great talent.
I'll say it too. Rik is one of the greatest (and amazingly underrated) front men in all of rock. Oh, he's also a smoking guitarist. Oh, and Gil has one of the greatest voices of all singing drummers. Deen Castronovo, Don Henley, Phil Collins..and that's about it.
I would like to believe I was the MAN that brought Triumph back together. Rik might recall my ask of wheather the band would ever get back together again, Rik stood tall and held tears....then it happened~ Here it became and later Inducted into the HALL OF FAME~ Triumph is my favorite band and I can prove it~
This sounds great! I love the sound with a rhythm guitar player! The last time i saw these guys was the tour that first featured a rhythm player,, which let Rikk let loose! I first saw them in 1980 on a co headline tour with UFO at the San Antonio Convention Center Arena! I hate to sound like my dad, but young people have no idea what they missed!
What year? ~ When will you guys reconnect? ~~ Every morning before I go to work I listen to 'Lay It On The Line" & "Magic Power". I wanna hear you, I wanna hear you now, won't you guy's lay it on the line. Indiana want's Triumph's Magic Power back on!
I saw triumph in Phoenix az . I still have the concert ticket stub. I have all my ticket stubs in a photo album . I have 2 full ACDC tickets that were never used . Old like 1986 .
Taking away the original intro takes away much of the song for me. The guitar, the drum, the explosion(in concert).The original intro always prepared me for the awesomeness to come. Still it's great to see you guys still going at it. God Bless.

Indeed. It adds to the soul of his bass playing. Props to the 'stache.
You like that stash (rider)
@@jdawg55598 Vulgar prick...!!! Such a comment speaks volumes about you.
@@marlenehouston6609 I bet you'd be yelling volumes when a stach rider like you started bucking.....lol
Hell yeah! When I was just beginning to play guitar I just idolized Rick and Triumph. Rick lays down some of the coolest licks and progressions you will ever see. And he hold so many awards for his guitar work and one of them was two major Canadian Jazz awards. A true musical genius.
You idolize Rik Emmett, yet you can't spell his name correctly? Ok.
Whatever.
Huh, I thought your name was dick.
the 'stache who gives a fuck.. jesus christ dude. really.... who.. gives.. a.. fuck
I’ll listen to Triumph until the day I die and I’m almost 60 now 😁
Triumph should be in the Rock n Roll hall of Fame
5:51 was an impressive note. Age destroyed his range (as it does with all singers) but his voice still sounds great. Not to mention how much his guitar skill has been refined. Such a shame this band never got the recognition they should have.
He sounds an awful lot like Geddy in this
TheCiscoKid2112 The only valid comparison to Geddy and Rush is that these guys were just as great of a band. Love 'em!
TheCiscoKid2112 what's next.. playing LAY IN ON THE LINE in Las Vegas for the senior gamblers
Sounds like his guitar is tuned lower than E to accommodate his lower range.
I don't care. he does a great job! You young kids don't get it, It sucks getting old. He sounds better today in 2018
A fan from the very beginning. Love to see this magic
LOVE! No matter how often I hear this (or any of the other Triumph/Rik Emmett songs), I never tire of them!
Awesome band, definitely 1 of the best top 5 bands in Canada.
Amen brother these guys are right up there!!
The best Canadian band ever. Rush is a close second but a little too pretentious
@@Miadolph427 Max Webster great too!
A great song is a great song and a Great band is a great band no matter how many years go by. I have been a fan of this band since i was a teenager.
All three are damn near ageless... Classic band.
All Canadians. Tough. They look awesome
Lots of synergy there on the stage. Rik has a powerful presence. Hope they tour one more time...
Awesome. I always loved TRIUMPH
Loved hearing this brought me back 40 years to my teen years when I saw them live . My favorite band
Rick was always so well rounded with his talent.he didn't play more than he needed to in any one area
One of my favorite band of the 80’s....trios got it all....
Rik Emmett is unbelievable ... he already showed where the hammer hangs at the US 83 Festival.
This version of this song is by far and large the most epic rendition of it. I can't think of a better performance.
US festival 1983 blows this away brother.
Saw them in 1987. Awesome show and band
Fuck! I wish these guys would do a new album.....
9496Tull Yea. A new album and tour. Come on guys.
One of the best lead licks I’ve heard !Great band
Man, am I sorry I never saw these guys back in the day. And this performance blows my mind. Phenomenal.
I'm Down Widdat I’m sorry for you too. Saw them in 1979 on the Just a Game tour. Front row hanging on the barricade. Melted my face. 😱
canadian rock n roll machine
What an excellent performance
Still a great set of pipes
Rik's playing - he killed it - what a talent!
Rick is one sick guitar player! They were a great band!
The first Triumph song I listened too. A masterpiece.
Been a huge fan since Thunder Seven. Rik is incredible guitarist/singer. Doesn't sound like sustained reunion is ever gonna happen. But moments like this give us hope Looking forward to documentary in 2020.
18 when I first heard this song 60 now and still rocking it, classic rock song 🤘🏼
Rick does not need another guitarist on stage with him.
Dave Dunlop is his "partner in crime" - has been for years.
I love these guys but they can not be considered a trio like those other guys from Canada.
Rush quit in 2018... decided to retire after a 40-year stint, plus Peart developed tendinitis.
One of the greatest bands ever!!! Triumph Baby......
Man those drums sound fantastic. That snare sounds like its about three feet thick.
Yeah, they do sound kick ass. Finally, someone who knows how to tune, mic, and mix a live snare for heavyness. Im so tired of the "wafer thin" gayassed snapping.
Proud of this canadian virtuoso loved as a teen !now bring back memories wanting to go back
yea, i remember triumph back in the day, i have to say they sound great, thats very fortunate, rare, awesome. at least everything great from the old days isn't gone for good, love triumph, keep rockin rik
Rik might recall my ask of wheather the band would ever get back together again, Rik stood tall and held tears....then it happened~
Here it became and later Inducted into the HALL OF FAME~
Triumph is my favorite band and I can prove it~
Incredible saw TRIUMPH in 1984 Never Surrender Worcester, MA & 1987 Surveillance Tour. Musical Magic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! to the power of 10
Never got to see Triumph live but did see Rik five times over the years.
These Canadians, can make so much sound with just 3 members. Puts a lot of other bands to shame.
What year?
~
When will you guys reconnect?
~~
Every morning before I go to work I listen to 'Lay It On The Line" & "Magic Power".
Sometimes, I'll listen to The Firm "Satisfaction Guaranteed" but as I drive to work I have the Magic Power in my head while I Lay It On The Line to get to work on time.
~~~
Same old story all over again, you turn some music into a amazing friend. I wanna hear you, I wanna hear you now, won't you guy's lay it on the line.
Indiana want's Triumph's Magic Power back on!
SSArt98: 2009 in Sweden
Excelente música !! Rik tremenda voz !!!
Saw them at the Oregon Jam. Fantastic performance. Fantastic body of work. Thank you Triumph
The most underated band! Super power trio
I saw triumph in Phoenix az .
I still have the concert ticket stub.
I have all my ticket stubs in a photo album . I have 2 full ACDC tickets that were never used .
Old like 1986 .
so underrated this band was killing it live
Under rated Band and he still sounds as good as he did in the 80s. Im 55 yr old and i still rock the album...
Taking away the original intro takes away much of the song for me. The guitar, the drum, the explosion(in concert).The original intro always prepared me for the awesomeness to come. Still it's great to see you guys still going at it. God Bless.
