RIK Emmett IS ONE THE BEST OF ALL TIME!! FOR SURE.
IM ALWAYS LISTENING!! THX RIK
The fact that Justin Bieber is more famous than Rik Emmett is proof that our world is indeed tone deaf.
God Bless you, Rik! Live on and keep inspiring those of us who hope to develop a fraction of your talent.
porscheman998 yah, but who the fk is gonna remember the bieb 2, 5 or 10 yrs. from now? This shit is timeless!
Gator McClusky Bieber just released a greatest hits album. It’s titled “I’m a douche nozzle”
Isn’t that the truth he doesn’t even compare to Rik. Love him!!!!
Justine who? never heard of her...
I know I am kinda off topic but does anybody know a good site to stream new movies online ?
An older rock star who still has the golden pipes and doesn't come across as a tatted up, drugged out lunatic! Youth is wasted on the young!
Great job.....
Watching this makes me Wish I Would’ve Seen Triumph in my earlier days when they were in there Prime 😢 as well as my Prime. Great Fricken Band !!!!! Yahooooooooo Rock n Roll ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I saw them on March 18,1983 in Chicago. This was a few months before the US Festival. They were amazing.
Rik Emmett is a very uplifting human being. He has the... Magic Power.
Rik Emmitt... greatest guitarist ever! Great voice too. And he's a class act! Triumph was always my favorite group growing up!
Agree his guitar talent is at least equal to all the typical names you hear of the greatest guitarist.
Amazing his voice still carries. 58 and still listening to triumph. Best bands of there era. After the 90s , it ended
Yep, rock and roll died in the 90’s.
This is one of the best live songs I’ve ever seen
Great messages in Triumph's music
Big fan from brazil. Saw US festival a hundred times. Amazing. God bless Rik.
Years ago, Rik played at a pre-Indy 500 show in downtown Indianapolis. The show began and Rik tried waving at the soundboard guy to turn him up. He tried several times with no luck. So...he strolled back to his stack and twisted the knob himself. The additional blast of power was massive and the crowd went absolutely CRAZY. The crowd erupted so much that his bass player (same guy in this video) was visibly shaken. He had a look like what in the heck just happened. It was almost as if he had never experienced such a reaction before. It was a cool moment that set the vibe for the rest of the set. Rik is a guitar hero. Such an incredible talent.
I completely agree with yabout hom being a guitar hero and he's on his 70sand still rocks
@@Broughton_Mainya, he couldn't hear himself in the monitor . But it would be funny to see.
Great story! Got any more
Rik is a masterclass. You just can't out play him. He will watch the fret board of what you are doing and already know what you are going to do. He's a great musician!
This is such an amazing song, even 40 years later.
Magic indeed. Thanks for sharing the magic Rik!
I met Rik in a bar in Columbus Georgia after basic training...just a laid back typical Canadian...nicest guy ever
Triumph was my first live concert, 1983!!! Loved them ever since!! What boggles my mind with this video is that Rik is using just a simple 6 string Yamaha and emulating the 12 string parts down by the bridge and the main parts up by the neck! F'ing genius!! I am a guitar nerd! but, that is amazing!!
One of my favorite bands! Gotta live Rik Emmett!
Mine too! They are all so underrated!
Although the 70s and 80s are actually exactly my years, I have only recently discovered this masterpiece.
Anyone who has really understood this music and can be able to feel it will laugh and cry with joy at every single word and tone at the same time!
Simply ingenious!
Rick was playing Randy Roads before Randy but who gets the credit? Don't believe me? Lay It on the Line was recorded in 1978. Blizzard of Oz was recorded in 1980. Even the run at the end of the Lay In on the Line solo (1978) is similar to the end run of the Crazy Train solo (1980). Rick has always been a humble guy and would never say it but we can say it. Nothing against Randy Roads here but Rick was better. God rest Randy's soul and we all thank him for the great music. Rick's music is just as great and he was when Randy was with us A by far superior guitarist and overall musician.
100% correct. Both are simply astonishing players, but Rik is beyond the pale and one of the greatest ever.
Rik was more talented than Randy he sings writes songs and is one hell of a guitar player.
Very interesting parallel to the song "Spirit of Radio" by Rush. Canadian rockers really have a heartfelt connection to the soul of rock music.
We love you Rii. I love you too. Please keep up the great Work.
Favorite version of one my AT favorite songs. I got to meet Rik at one of Jim Peterik's annual World Stage concerts. If you get invited again, Rik - please return for that.
I've always loved Triumph there positive music is an inspiration God bless you
Unreal !! One of the very few that can and Will sing an old song in the correct and original key. Awesome !!
I miss the 80s i love playing this music on accoustic never end with the 80s time of music .
Rik's music has inspired me now for forty years........spent countless hours practicing so many of Triumph's tunes and it's been sooo good for me.
It's too bad Rik never got enough credit for his talent. Keep on a rockin!!
Ric is awesome!!! Amazing how he gets his voice up so high considering he has a normal speaking voice
What a beautiful voice and great guitar player. Love to see Rik live!!!!!
Love Rik's reaction to the crowd at the beginning when they were tossing those balloons out and they burst with confetti. Tail end of 2021 and this stuff never gets old. So glad that I got to see him with Triumph in the 80's during the Allied Forces and Never Surrender tours. Jam session with Dave Dunlop was oh so good!
Always enjoy me some Triumph! Rik js old school, classically trained and through the decades it still shows in his amazing playing. At 56 I’m happy to say my first three concerts growing up were all from Canada - Rush, Triumph, and April Wine.
Not just an incredible player, but also a very happy man
2006 and still had a song bird voice. He explains that high note was gone. He knows how to make it right.
It's awesome seeing Rik's co-conspirator young Dave Dunlap get his chance center stage!
Dave D has some chops indeed but its not like a hey look at me I am bad ass type of thing. Its smooth as silk. I love how he pulled out an EVH elephant walk right at the end of the head cutting and Rik just gave him that look.
Don't forget Steve Skingley's bass .... poor Steve often gets overlooked 😂
Actually, Steve and I are Doppelgangers of one another (more back in the 2000's but as late as 6 years ago or so) Rik initially mistook me for Steve at a meet and greet after a show in Utica NY as did some fans. Rik made a joke out of it though, which was cool. Now, if I only have learned how to play the bass!!😂😂😂
Rik Emmett has been an inspiration and guitar Hero of mine for 40 years.
He might b underrated 2 the "industry" but us that love him 4 his playing, humility, etc, know how important 2 rock gtr & we will all b putting him at the top of r gtrists lists 4ever!!!! Love & thank U RIK!!!! & GIL, MIKE!!!!
Damn what a solid drummer all the way thru the song, and to unload a finish like that its impressive.
Thats my brother on drums - Mike Churchill from Toronto :-)
@@kchurch5782 Cool! He's awesome
Rick Emmett is a Class Act !!!! Killer singer, song writer, and o yea he sure can play that guitar !!!!
Beautiful words u said Ric... Is true all u said about the music is for many people... Tnx u!!!
This is such a great song, and Rik Emmett, is just unreal?!! I loved the way he was just himself, laughing at was happening in the audience with the balloons being thrown around! Great video! :-)
My fave guitar player..and what a voice too... yeahhh magic power
He is fantastic underrated
And he is playing a Pacifica
Incredible guitar players
His love for music and zest for life made me love him and kept me hopeful for the greatest happiness
2024 . Love this song !!!!
There’s no comparison Justine Bieber wishes he had a gram of Rik Emmett’s talent
bieber couldnt tune riks guitar
That talentless punk don't even know who Rik Emmett is...
Wow ten years ago his voice is great 👍 I was so fortunate to see triumph in 1983 absolutely amazing.
I have photographed Rik and Dave for quite a few shows and they never disappoint.
Rik's voice has held up well. Sounds great. Please come St. Augustine, FL.
Rik has unbelievable tone, which (he has said) is all in his hands, far more than the gear he is using.
He also has an unbelievably quick mind for music. He can imagine, figure out or demonstrate anything.
Man Rik still has it going on...dam I wish Triumph would get back together and tour!
Love this beautiful song 🍁
Rik Emmett is a true triple threat which is so rare in rock and roll. There are great vocalists but usually for a REALLY great vocalist, that's their primary instrument. (think Steve Perry, Roger Daltrey, Freddy Mercury, etc.) Then there are great guitarists, but the REALLY great guitarists focus on the guitar and usually let someone else carry the vocals. Think Neil Schon, Jimmy Page, etc.) Playing really good guitar is a technical skill and an art all at the same time. It requires a lot of focus. Who can focus on singing while all of that is going on? It's hard to do. Then there's the guys that are the consummate "frontmen". They sing, but they also need personality. They need to understand how to interact with a crowd, get them into it, make them feel like they are a part of the show. Some people just come out and perform but are not really great at bringing the crowd in. Emmett literally has it all. All I see from him is what appears to be a super nice guy who is appreciative of his audience and is concerned that they have a good time at his show, combined with an incredible voice, combined with not just decent guitar work, but really excellent guitar work. I play guitar and I know what to look at when I see a player. Don't let anybody tell you otherwise...if you forget about the vocals and the stage presence and all of that and ONLY focus on Rik's guitar method, he's a master. He's as good as it gets. In rock and roll circles, go ahead and put him up there with Schon or Pete Townsend or Alex Lifeson...he can hold his own. When I think "great vocalist combined with great guitar player" there are a few that I put in that category but not a lot. David Gilmour comes to mind. Geddy Lee (even though it's a bass and not lead/rhythm...his bass lines are very tasty and complex) comes to mind. Not rock and roll...but Gordon Lightfoot has this kind of package. Elton John can do it with vocals and piano...equally as complicated. Yes, there are a few that are in this class. More than I have mentioned here. But Rik Emmett is definitely in that club. I am not sure that he gets the credit he deserves. I don't know if he's mentioned in the same way as some of these others. But he definitely is right there with them, in my opinion. I have a huge amount of respect for his talent and I am also impressed at how good he STILL is today. He's literally been a powerhouse for 40 years.
Quadruple threat, really--he writes the songs as well. Hes an AMAZING musician. But he makes it look so easy, I think folks have overlooked him through the years.
Well said. I feel very much the same about Rik.
If you haven't Already you should join our triumph group I. Facebook = Triumph (Canadian rock group)
@@briankeith6256 - I'm glad you mentioned that he also writes the songs. I can also tell you from personal contact that he's a really nice guy too. I interviewed him several times (many years ago) and he's just a great down-to-earth human being.
Great post. But Freddie was an accomplished and extremely capable pianist. Pretty decent songwriter and frontman too.
@@PerKuhShunIst Thanks. Just seeing this now but I will check out your group. Always liked Triumph and respected their work.
It's sad that Triumph came from the same soil as Rush just a couple years after... they were compared, and often mistaken for each other. Living in Buffalo NY in the 70s and 80s granted me the privilege of hearing a lot of air play from this underrated trio, at the time Rush was hammering it. That being said, I feel that if Rush wasn't there, Triumph would have had more respect. Then again, if it wasn't for Rush, Triumph might not have been noticed. Paradxal perhaps.
Awesome !! No Clue how I just stumbled across this.. But Damn glad I did !!
Every time I see Rik play, I wished I'da learned how to play the guitar...
What a GUITAR MASTER!!!
Such an amazing artist and class act
What a high clear voice. This is their best song.
Rik is SO GREAT! Just imagine if you could play onstage with him, have a cpl of beers, or simply know him & be his friend! WHAT AN INSPIRATION HES ALWAYS BEEN! Fantastic guy....
Incredible at any age.
Musical Genius in true meaning of the word ! ...
What a treat it is to have stumbled upon this vid! Thanks for posting!

I think it was 1983 I was with a couple people in my brand new Firebird going to Oakland Coliseum day of the green got there at about 5:00 in the evening and Triumph just opened up and then Journey came right after them they were the head show what a beautiful night that was
Don't forget April Wine, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, Aldo Nova and Mahogany Rush (Frank Marino)!
Frank Marino was good, the others.......meh. Aldo Nova? 😆😂😆
That voice!!!
Rik Emmett is the best lead man EVER
“The rich man shall lie down, but he shall not be gathered: he openeth his eyes, and he is not. Terrors take hold on him as waters, a tempest stealeth him away in the night.” (Job 27:19-20)
1:13 Woah, that voice. Something magic happens alright.
Damn that action on Rics guitar is high! I probably couldn't even play it

Canada rocks like no other country in the world!
Awesome!! Rock on Rik!!
I unofficially won the Steve Skingley Look a like contest one night ....Rik and these two hot girls actually thought I was his bass/keyboard player for second or two. True story!!!!
Allied Forces(邦題:メタル同盟)持ってました。
Magic Power はお気に入りの一曲です。from japan
Rik is incredible! After all these years his voice is still unbelievable unlike his Canadian counterpart Geddy Lee.
I am sorry but Rik is sounding just as flat as Geddy. I could not listen to this as Rik struggled too much to sing it. Far too many flat notes.
+blotmaster1 I respectfully disagree with you. True, he has had to change up the arrangement a bit and sing In a different key but that doesn't mean it's flat. Have you had the chance to listen to his new album Resolution 9? He sounds fantastic. I'll pay to see him anytime
No worries mate. I have not thought much about Rik since his ego skyrocketed and he left Triumph.
you no nothing about music!!
+mike loder you know nothing about spelling!!
Even with Yamaha Pacifica,Rik sounds like a King!
wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!still the great Rik Emmet

Can that guy be reproduced. Sorry I'm in love.
Yeah, Dave Dunlop is also amazing!
彼がなんで日本で人気が出なかったのか本当に不思議だ。
ギター雑誌もあまり取り上げなかった…。
THE POWER BELONGS TO JESUS CHRIST IN HEAVEN AND EARTH... REPENT AND BELIEVE... "FLEE THE WRATH TO COME..." !!
Is there a bottle of Jagermeister on the stage? 4:11
Who is the younger guy on lead guitar? What an honor to be able to say you played lead guitar in Rik Emmett's band.
It's Dave Dunlop. He is a friend of Rik and his musical partner and great player as well.
The last Hero
