- The Rik Emmett Band live in San Antonio, Texas on April 27, 2012. This song is dedicated to Dave Dunlop, the other guitarist in the band. He could not make the show due to a death in the family. This is a very rare power trio performance from Rik.
Let there be no mistake, Rik has one of the best voices ever in Rock and Roll, Ever.
Agreed!
Yup, and seems like a nice guy to boot
There's no mistake there...Rik Emmett is Triumph dude !! Eh?
And still has it. Amazing.. Triumph is probably the most underrated band in history.
Loved Rik w/Triumph and still love him today. This is the music of my youth. I'm 51 years old now and still love it. Rik's singing lifts you up. It's not about shooting someone or rape or violence etc. The songs always lifted me up. Rik, you look fabulous. Good to see you still playing.
He is sooooo wonferful.... And he was a key part of my life as a teensger, blooming into a young woman.... That music was a true gift, to those of us, fortunate enough to be a part of it all..... Thanks forever Rik! 💜💕💜💕💜💕💜💕💜💕💜💕💜
Magic Power is a song as fresh today as it was when it was first released.
One of the most underrated songs boice ever
I wish i could go to a Triumph concert. I grew up to my grandparents listening to them and it just amaze me the talent is amazing. Erik Emmet was my fave. He’s got the most beautiful pristine tone without even trying.
Rik Emmett is one of my favorite singers. He is awesome. What a memorable concert in 1985
Rik Emmett is perfect for a power trio. Great voice, helluva good guitar player. One of my faves growing up.
I saw Triumph in San Antonio back in Feb 1985 when I was participating in All-State High School band my senior year. Two fellow band members and I decided to go to this concert last minute and when we walked into the place (Hemisphere Arena), I thought we were all gonna get pummeled with all the tough looking characters there. No one bothered us and the concert was amazing and I became a huge Rik Emmett fan and still am.
awesome story. I thought the same my first concert (different band).
Rik doesn't need other guitarists on stage with him. This is awesome as a trio
he is older so I'm sure his fingers are not as fast as they were in his prime I know I'm 45 and have issues playing guitar now days since the Arthritis sets in from me doing stupid things when I was Young, Wild and Free but still have the magic power in me.
I think Rik always has a positive massage in his music, truly inspirational! I love that about him.
Rik was/is my favorite performer ever. I was a Triumph diehard in the early 80s. Saw them in Cincinnati in 83, I believe. Dec 27.. It was my Christmas present & my Dad took me & a friend of mine. I find myself listening to this song a lot lately. It can still lift my spirits & take me away for a bit. "She's had a rotten day... & she hopes the dj..." 👍😄❤❤❤❤❤ Thanks Rik. You have no idea the impression you made. 😘😘😘
Rik Emmit
My favorite artist. Love his music and the lyrics it has. Awesome solos
I was at this concert and I loved the introduction
You still rock
Can't wait to see you again in San Antonio
Love Rik Emmett......can't believe he can still hit those notes : )
Gave me chills tonite just like it did 30 years ago!!!

and the magic
Ric is the best! Who else can sing and play like this guy?! No one.
Thank you Ric for entertaining us.
Dave❤️🇺🇸🇨🇦👍
He always looks like he has so much fun on stage :) I would LOVE to see him live one day. He is one of the few who still can produce the magic power that is music
Triumph was my favorite band in high school in the early '80's and I didn't realize just how talented he is.
Mine too... Yo9u could put on Magic Power and all the High School Drama would go away
That's a fact. I listened to them anytime I was in my car.
thumbs up for your moniker and mullet
Sorry been on vacation... You like my moniker? Why? Most people think I am stupid
***** Pretty sure that was for Joe Blow....
But, if it's any consolation, I don't think your stupid. Mayhaps I just don't know you well enough, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt!!
I wish Rik never retired I really hope he makes a come back one last time because we need him and the band
If you ever find occasion to see this incredible performer please do so,
Rik still got it. What a voice. And a fantastic guitar player. Let's not forget a great songwriter too. Put Triumph back together and come see us 🇺🇸🇨🇦🎸
Using an 5150 head, from the MIGHTY VAN HALEN, and it sounds good, he still got it, and this song never gets old.
Tail end of 2021 and this stuff from Rik NEVER gets old! So happy that I got to see him with Triumph on the Allied Forces and Never Surrender tours back in the day.

The band that saved rock and roll back in '80
This was so awesome!! I've seen him lately for his acoustic sets, but this brings back his rock concerts of the past!! Thanks!!!
amazing...hes still awesome...and mesmerizing......
Rick always was an awesome guitarist and singer. When you get older, you can still shred on guitar, but it's impossible to keep the voice....especially like he used to have. take it in that context, it it still fantastic to hear him play!!
Even here he still sounds great.
Killer guitar tone.
Still sounds great! thanks...RIP Dave...
Dave is still alive....at least he was last week.. :) (Dave missed the show due a death in his family)
with so many damn songs today filled with hate, violence, and depressing lyrics, I always loved the spirit in the songs of Rik such as Hold On and of corse this one.

1:18 "we do not often play as a trio" if i'm not mistaken i hear keyboards, bass, drums and guitar!!
The bass player is on keys just like the Triumph days. This show was a trio.
The bass player plays keyboard
+stratosergio59 Ever seen a Rush show Captain Obvious?
Sure did
Sequencer douche bag. Not a human. Go to your room and practice.

Dam Rik still has it!! Man I wish Triumph would get back together and tour!! Triumph and Rush boy would that show kick some ass and bring back some great memories!
Kevin Anderson I do too. It amazes me how groups like this or REO with Kevin Cronin and Gary Richrath can't bury the hatchet
Yes brother that would make up for some of Canada's crazy actors
they play well..but dont dound too much like pop hits of today!! Ilove rock like this!! I was so fortunate to grow up in an age when we could hear music like this and shit like Pink...just so we continue to know what good music is!!
Forever young

His voice don't change
Excellence! 😎👍
That's how a real rock singer should sound.
Rik. Hero.
My favorite driving song
Hemisphere park and I was there !
Well said !!
always a bad ass saw em back in the day in 81 82 83
Wow, so underrated
I believe it was Rick Santers that filled or second guitarist in the early days.
He's amazing but he sacrificed some of his chops for a little bit of showmanship in this clip. I'm not complaining. He's an incredible guitarist and vocalist.
How about another fiesta concert. It was awesome!
er ist ja richtig cool. Klasse Typ
Nice!
No they didn't - that was "Sport of Kings" tour, not Thunder Seven!
Anyone know if they ever come to Phoenix?
To be fair, it's not always the 'rock and roll lifestyle' that brings singers down. For example, Billy Squier wrote all his stuff at the top of his range. Recordings sound great. But going out night after night having to get up at the top 5% of his range killed him. Sure, a mess of em don't treat their voice like a prized instrument, but there are those who bring it on themselves in different ways. .02
You are so very correct !.....Squire Kicked some ass back in the 80's and is still killing it as one hell of a guitar player.
Finally playing a real guitar. Yes Triumph had/has a great sound but nothing like A Les Paul or any Gibson.
Yeah I was stunned to see him playing a Les Paul, He used to always play Yamaha exclusively. also seen a recent video of him playing an 18 string double neck Gibson
