He also really likes to do wake up moves, while the enemy oki's with a simple jab on frame 1 when he gets up. + he also likes to use big moves from mid range to get close and the enemy is like "Free DI counter? sure"

My 8 year old nephew has been acting super salty lately and he becomes super toxic whenever things aren’t going his way in a game. So I sat him down the other day and showed him a video of pigroach playing SF6 and I told him, “This is what you sound like”. That was Wednesday, he’s done a total 180 and has a fantastic attitude while competing online. Thanks for the invaluable life lesson, Phil. He’s the perfect example of what NOT to be, in literally every aspect of his life.

It baffles him because people read it so quickly and react to it. Yet, it doesn't come across his mind that some of these people actually DID practice these characters in training mode. He thinks everyone immediately knows everything. "He wants to learn a character by fighting noobs". What an ego on that guy.

Rule of thumb with DSP: If he picks a character and constantly loses he slams it for being trash tier, but if he goes up against somebody using this exact same character and loses he claims that character is over powered.
A good alternate title for this video would be "Dave Disproves His Every Complaint About Jamie and Cammy for 3 Hours Straight" given Maron is just as fast, has arguably longer range than either and hits just as fast and he still gets his ass handed to him by E. Honda and Dhalsim.
He played ALL the betas and pre-launch builds, and he STILL doesn't understand the Drive system. He just calls it ALL "Drive Impact" because he literally cannot and does not differentiate between the different functions of the Drive system. He doesn't seem to notice that his specials and ODs pull from it, he doesn't notice that blocking pulls from it, and any splash of color he sees is immediately a "random Drive Impact". As others have pointed out, sometimes his opponents are Drive Parrying him, sometimes they're using Drive Rush to extend combos or dash or fake him out, and THEN they hit him with the actual Drive Impacts which ALWAYS absorbs one of his random flailing jabs and counters him. It's the whole function of the system: to counter random attack spam by giving everyone a built-in armored counter-hit move. If he wasn't constantly mashing buttons without any thought, he wouldn't feed his opponents so many Drive Impacts. And the saddest bits are when the opponents up in the high ranks hit him with Drive Rush > DSP Drive Impacts thinking he's getting the counter > They counter him with their ACTUAL Drive Impact. He goes straight to "mine never works, nothing works, it's all random and everything my opponent does is 'Safe'!". I wish he'd try out Modern or even Dynamic on a gamepad. He does not have the coordination to do Classic (and admittedly, I don't either. It's why I never got into SF before 6). On top of that, I really wish he'd just go look at the tutorials. They're SO good in this game. The character guides do always start with pretty patronizing basics, but past the first few slides the game does an awesome job of telling you what a move does, what its properties are, when you'd want to do it, and sometimes even warns you that a move is unsafe and shouldn't be spammed. Then the Combo Guide has a series of lessons showing you HOW to do the basic and advanced combos (including ones within Modern that do the 'extra' or 'full' damage because you're using the manual inputs) and he can even farm the Arcade campaigns and WT mode for more content. I doubt he'll ever get "good" at the game, but it'd at least be less pitiful than watching him get dumpstered for hours at a time up in the mid-upper ranks. I voluntarily sent my dumb scrub ass down to the first-timer Iron ranks when the game asked me because I am NOT at the level where I want to be fighting Platinum and above guys or taking SF seriously. I could 100% body DSP tho; he does himself a disservice by trying to chase his old ill-earned "glory days" only playing ranked and slowly grinding his way DOWN the ranks. It seems like every new clip compilation that comes out, his LP is like 1-3K lower than the last one. He should just tank it off-stream and play random punchies in Bronze or lower, or do some Casual or Avatar fights or beat up on the WT enemies so he can look "cool". These Ranked streams are just sad, man.
I think I like the mirror matches the best. It showcases just how inept Phil actually is. It also is just another piece in a mountain of evidence to show that his EVO win was a freak occurrence.
"How do you beat walk up jab?" If you were a former pro fighting game player as claimed, the answer should be trivial: either check the walk up with your own jab or if it's a meaty jab, block it and wait your turn, then either whiff punish their jab if they're mashing out of range or take your turn back if they wait for you to make a move. Actual basic fighting game knowledge, even in his precious Super Turbo.

Every character has a 4 frame light attack. They can be chained into each other so all you have to do is block. If they go for a walk up throw, you can challenge with your own jab.
Here in week 2, we’re getting into the meaty portions of the sodium quarry. Many veins rich in sodium are here for the mining and will continue all the way until he decides to quit playing.

If your reaction is 300ms, which is on the higher/slower end, that means you can react in about 18 frames, drive impact is a 26 frame startup. That means if he can't react to a 26 frame move (game runs at 60 fps) and that it's impossible his reaction time is damn near half a second or even slower. Ho-ly crap.

@@Ebilryu I'm pretty sure the only reason Phil has more lp then most of the players he comes up against because SF6 ranks players with each character and Phil is switching characters after he ranks them up high enough (correct if wrong).
The only problem with this is that Phil is running out of unranked characters.

@@Ebilryu I got out of a fight in Custom Room the night prior to this video. It's easy to punish someone who uses Drive Impacts a lot. There are times you do have to time it. It baffles him because people read it so quickly and react to it.
Yet, it doesn't come across his mind that some of these people actually DID practice these characters in training mode. He thinks everyone immediately knows everything.

The only combo he retained from the trials was the anti air one. Because it's so damn simple to do.

I love how when he's slow to react to a drive impact he whines about how it's random and it's scrubby, but when he does it and the opponent reacts in time and DIs him back it's "OH CAHM AAAHNNNNNNNNNNN HERE WE GO"

Rule of thumb with DSP: If he picks a character and constantly loses he slams it for being trash tier, but if he goes up against somebody using this exact same character and loses he claims that character is over powered.

He played ALL the betas and pre-launch builds, and he STILL doesn't understand the Drive system. He just calls it ALL "Drive Impact" because he literally cannot and does not differentiate between the different functions of the Drive system. He doesn't seem to notice that his specials and ODs pull from it, he doesn't notice that blocking pulls from it, and any splash of color he sees is immediately a "random Drive Impact". As others have pointed out, sometimes his opponents are Drive Parrying him, sometimes they're using Drive Rush to extend combos or dash or fake him out, and THEN they hit him with the actual Drive Impacts which ALWAYS absorbs one of his random flailing jabs and counters him. It's the whole function of the system: to counter random attack spam by giving everyone a built-in armored counter-hit move. If he wasn't constantly mashing buttons without any thought, he wouldn't feed his opponents so many Drive Impacts. And the saddest bits are when the opponents up in the high ranks hit him with Drive Rush > DSP Drive Impacts thinking he's getting the counter > They counter him with their ACTUAL Drive Impact. He goes straight to "mine never works, nothing works, it's all random and everything my opponent does is 'Safe'!".
I wish he'd try out Modern or even Dynamic on a gamepad. He does not have the coordination to do Classic (and admittedly, I don't either. It's why I never got into SF before 6). On top of that, I really wish he'd just go look at the tutorials. They're SO good in this game. The character guides do always start with pretty patronizing basics, but past the first few slides the game does an awesome job of telling you what a move does, what its properties are, when you'd want to do it, and sometimes even warns you that a move is unsafe and shouldn't be spammed. Then the Combo Guide has a series of lessons showing you HOW to do the basic and advanced combos (including ones within Modern that do the 'extra' or 'full' damage because you're using the manual inputs) and he can even farm the Arcade campaigns and WT mode for more content. I doubt he'll ever get "good" at the game, but it'd at least be less pitiful than watching him get dumpstered for hours at a time up in the mid-upper ranks. I voluntarily sent my dumb scrub ass down to the first-timer Iron ranks when the game asked me because I am NOT at the level where I want to be fighting Platinum and above guys or taking SF seriously. I could 100% body DSP tho; he does himself a disservice by trying to chase his old ill-earned "glory days" only playing ranked and slowly grinding his way DOWN the ranks. It seems like every new clip compilation that comes out, his LP is like 1-3K lower than the last one. He should just tank it off-stream and play random punchies in Bronze or lower, or do some Casual or Avatar fights or beat up on the WT enemies so he can look "cool". These Ranked streams are just sad, man.

If you were a former pro fighting game player as claimed, the answer should be trivial: either check the walk up with your own jab or if it's a meaty jab, block it and wait your turn, then either whiff punish their jab if they're mashing out of range or take your turn back if they wait for you to make a move.

Every character has a 4 frame light attack. They can be chained into each other so all you have to do is block. If they go for a walk up throw, you can challenge with your own jab.

13:22 LMAO, he said it's impossible for him to react to drive impact, if that's the case his reactions are SEVERELY below the average person. If your reaction is 300ms, which is on the higher/slower end, that means you can react in about 18 frames, drive impact is a 26 frame startup. That means if he can't react to a 26 frame move (game runs at 60 fps) and that it's impossible his reaction time is damn near half a second or even slower. Ho-ly crap.
